Cute hockey romance. When he accidentally hits her with a hockey puck, she ends up in the hospital and they have a chance to get to know each other. I’m not sure I liked him tricking her, even though I know she wouldn’t have accepted his help otherwise. I wish the book included her trip to the Olympics. Overall a fun and fast light read.

Logan Rivers is a star pro hockey player for the St. Pete Slashers -- and he's in a slump.
He hasn’t scored in 3 games and it’s starting to freak him out. Enter Coco, who strikes a deal with an assistant coach to be Logan's lucky charm to pay off her training expenses as an Olympic figure skater. Everything is looking up for both of them.
She’s almost got her debt paid off and the Slashers are on a winning streak. There's only one problem: she doesn’t know how to tell Logan she’s been lying to him the whole time.
If she can just keep her secret until the playoffs are over…
I think this book mainly suffered from an issue with pacing. I feel very strongly that we didn’t see enough of coco on the ice and in training, and too much of her in the hospital. I also think that the dialogue at the end of the book between Logan and Cam was super unrealistic and gave me really weird vibes because absolutely nobody talks like that. The romance between coco and Logan was cute though and I really enjoyed it.

The cutting edge was a delightful and quick read. A chance of fate with a puck to the face, Coco meets Logan Rivers. The pair bond when Coco rehabilitates in the hospital and they fall in love. Overall the book was a fun read. I feel like the male main character was lovable and sweet. The conflict in this book was quickly resolved but it was fun to read

I really loved this book and the characters. It was enjoyable read. Coco and Logan were so adorable to read about.

I received an ARC copy of this book (post publication) from net galley and the publisher. All opinions are honest and my own.
I personally struggled to get through this book. There were many spelling errors and punctuation errors throughout the book that made the flow of reading difficult. Understandably I received an advance copy BUT I received the copy after publication and figured these things would be updated. This book was repetitive in phrase and wording.
I think the concept of this book is great. Sweet hockey player meets independent figure skater BOOM. It came off rushed and forced at times.

I liked the idea of this book. A cinnamon roll hockey player falls for the independent figure skater. So much potential. Unfortunately it was underwhelming for me. The editing in this book was terrible. Such repetitive writing to the point where there were entire paragraphs practically duplicated. The story also started to shift from 1st to 3rd person towards the end, sometimes within a single sentence. I also thought the 3rd act breakup in this one was weak and rushed. Almost like she needed to make the story fit within so many pages and had to squeeze it all in and throw some parts out. This book had good potential, but this feels like a first draft.

It was good could have been better!
The writing didn't do it for me.
It was pretty meh
Story wasn't that great either

Unfortunately I had to stop reading this book 23% of the way in for a very personal reason - having also had a concussion caused by another person not paying attention while doing their job (I don't care that Logan felt bad, sorry. He's a professional hockey player but doesn't pay enough attention to notice that there are two people in the direction he's hitting 103 mph pucks in?) I can honestly say - if that person showed up at the hospital, I would have called the police, not fallen in love. And staying in the hospital overnight after a concussion is so rare, it made no sense why so much of this story took place there. If Coco really needed to stay, her brain injury would gave been too serious for her be flirting and carrying on with anyone. Anyway, this story made my own PTSD around my particular issue come up in ways I didn't expect and just couldn't keep reading.
The other reason I stopped reading was the clear lack of proofreading. I can overlook a fair amount for ARCs and usually don't even mention it, but in this case it was so distracting it made reading this book feel like work and not fun.

Thank you NetGalley and Siesta Key for this ARC!
"The Cutting Edge" is a rom-com centered around Olympic figure skater Coco and pro hockey player Logan. After Logan accidentally sends a puck flying straight to Coco's head, he cares for Coco at the hospital and starts to develop feelings for her. Coco brings luck to Logan and he starts scoring points on the ice after a bad luck streak. Coco enjoys spending time with Logan but he doesn't know she's getting paid to be his good luck charm. Can they overcome the deceit and be together?
While this book was enjoyable, it was not my favorite. The plot line regarding Coco's reservations about Logan seemed long-winded and unnecessary. The anticlimactic resolution was also rushed and lacked substance. Regardless, I found myself smiling and laughing while reading parts of this book. Overall, this book is a simple no fuss romance that can be enjoyed but will not be remembered.

Though there are errors in the ARC copy, I enjoyed every second of this read! Logan is by far the best part of this story with Coco not far behind. I would have loved to see a few training sessions with Coco and Marissa. 5 stars from me!

Overall I enjoyed The Cutting Edge. But there were a few things that bothered me. First, some of the dialogue feels incredibly immature. Second, and the biggest thing, is that the FMC was portrayed as an Olympian. While I understand the story revolves around injury, you don't experience her skating until the last 15% of the book and its minimal. It's a little disappointing to see a strong capable women reduced to what she can do for a man only.
I just wish there would have been more focus placed on her life and career establishing her as a woman.
It just bugged me.
It was an quick easy read but not my favorite.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you to Net Galley for providing me with an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The Cutting Edge was a cute, quick romance between a single father hockey player and an ice skater. I really enjoyed Coco and Logan’s relationship, as well as the aspects of friendship and family.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and definitely will check out later books in the series!
Spoiler warning:
I didn’t love the third act issues as it felt a little over dramatic and too quickly resolved

I loved this hocky romance! I laughed, I had to fan myself from the spice and I just simply loved everything about this! This was a definite 5 star read!
I just reviewed The Cutting Edge by Lisa Daily. #TheCuttingEdge #NetGalley

Coco is a figure skater teacher. One day, one of her student's, Poppy, dad, Logan, is late to pick her up. And when Cocoa goes to find him, a misfortune lands her in the hospital with a concussion. And now she needs Logan's help...
This is book 1 in the St. Pete Slashers series, a hockey, single dad, instalove romance. She's a figure skater, he's a big shot hockey player (where have I read that before?). The cover says steamy. Not that much. There is one good spicy scene around 80% in, a couple of pages long and that's pretty much it. But I didn't mind, that's not why I picked up that book. I would've like to see a bit more tension though. I don't mind a slow burn, if things at least burn a little. It also would've been nice to see more of the romance outside of the hospital. He falls first, which I love, and I was only 6% in and Logan already had me swooning, he's a complete cinnamon roll. And Poppy is so stinking cute! I would've liked to see even more of her. The third act conflict is stupid, far-fetched and once again an utter overreaction, they both made a mountain out of a molehill. It was still a very fun, super quick read and had me grinning and laughing pretty much all the time. I can't wait to read Lana and Cam's story in book 2!
I received an advance review copy of this book for free, and I'm leaving this review voluntarily.

I had high hopes for this book because I love a good hockey romance, but this wasn't what I expected. It started off strong with a meet-cute and some funny dialogue and I enjoyed the relationship dynamic between Logan and his daughter. As I continued to read on, it fell flat and became kinda repetitive with some of the phrases that were overused. I always try to read a book through, but a lot of the choices that were made in the writing style made it difficult and I could not finish it.

This was a really cute read. The book itself was the perfect length, I didn't feel like the story dragged at any point. Can't wait to see what comes next hopefully.

I love sports romances so of course I had to pick up this one when it came by on Netgalley. It was very wholesome, but a little surface level. Their entire personalities were figure skater and hockey player, that's basically all there was to it.
His kid was absolutely adorable, but she was also just there for convenient plot points and nothing was really related to her. She was also five but a little too smart and knew too many complicated words and stuff to really feel like a five year old.
The third act breakup with the incredibly fast forgiveness was all a little too quick, too sudden, too unnecessary. Either don't break up or have him work for it. Although he did nothing wrong so I would've gone with not breaking up at all. There could've have been an emergency with the kid to kick up the suspense in the last couple of pages.
The banter was super cute. It was, however, basically the only thing that kept me interested in this book. The writing style is very dense and the banter made it lighter. It did not feel like this book was just 200+ pages, and not in a good way.
It was a decent book, but it could've been better. Extra star for the banter because I was smiling a lot throughout this book. So that leaves it at three stars.
There's some mistakes in this edition of Netgalley. Repetitive paragraph in the beginning of the story. Plenty of typos throughout. Definitely needs some more editing before getting printed.

The overall premise of this book is kind of cute but the execution was lacking. I know ARC's aren"t usually the final copy going to print but it didn't seem like this had been edited at all. There were numerous parts that repeated itself and there are also seemed to be timeline and plot holes. The character would do one thing and then two pages later they were doing something completely different that negate the previous pages. I have been a figure skater for over 20 years at a high level and there was a lot of misrepresentation that could have been avoided with the tiniest bit of research. Also didn't love that they referenced real life figure skaters in weird contexts. Overall I think with some editing and fleshing out this story could be really cute and make a quick read. However, as is I was frustrated the whole time and didn't love it. I gave it two stars as I did finish the book and thought there were some cute moments.

THIS WILL BE THE NEXT BIG HOCKEY ROMANCE BOOK!! I could not get enough! If you love Ice Breaker YOU WILL LOVE THIS ONE!!! Can't wait to see if this will become a series because I NEED more!

I received an ARC from Siesta Key and Net Galley. My actual star rating is 3.75/5.
This is the story of the Logan Rivers and Coco. Coco is his daughter's figure skating coach. He runs late one day and she goes to find him and BAM -a puck in the head.
There were some real bright spots for me in this story. The father and daughter relationship. I enjoyed his interplay with his teammates and I wish that was developed more.
Coco was complex and I know this was a RomCom but I wish we could've explored her unlucky taste in men in the beginning of the book instead of towards the end. It might've helped in understanding the character better. Think the author should've played up her being protective over her students after what she experienced with her family.
I adore the scene of him drawing a heart on the plexiglass. It was pure enjoyment for me.
Overall, I was entertained and I'd love to read more.
