“other than nurse barb? nothing will - the second you say yes.”
“yes.”
i don't love this book but i would still recommend this easy read to you, maybe you will like it more than me.
what really annoyed me was that it is advertised as a steamy romance, but it starts very late and unfortunately not well written, it was boring. totally nothing special.
thank you so much netgalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book! It was my first hockey romance, and it definitely won't be my last. I loved the fact that both the MMC and the FMC were at the top of their game sports wise, and that they supported each other - and that each characters ambitions were equally important. (I hate it when the FMC abandons all her plans and dreams for a MMC).
It was a really cute slow burn, and I blew through it in an evening. I am however now very disappointed no one has ever sent me a basket of puppies?!
I did have a couple of repeated paragraphs in my copy, but that's very possibly an issue with my kindle copy.
All in all, I'd definitely recommend this book! It was super cute and made me smile multiple times.

i loved the concept and the execution however with the third act conflict i was little frustrated. the rest of the book and concept was top tier

Maybe this is 2.5 ⭐️
I don’t even know what to say, honestly. It’s not awful, it’s just not good. The FMC is so unlikable. She jumps to conclusions that are really a stretch to even be mad about and has zero accountability for any of her own faults. MMC is constantly apologizing and showering her with endless gifts trying to make up for something he’s not even done wrong. Or that, if it is wrong, she has done to him as well. Ugh! Not to mention it’s instalove…whiplash instalove. I don’t know, I would have enjoyed it more if he have confronted her about her unwarranted temper and then forgot about her. (Also, low spice - if you are wondering.)
I received this book from the publisher & NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.

Lisa Daily has a game-winner with THE CUTTING EDGE (St. Pete Slashers #1). Figure Skater Coco Charmaine ends up in the hospital after being hit in the head with a puck by NHL star Logan Rivers. Logan feels guilty for hurting Coco continually visiting her and getting her presents. He believes that she is the reason he comes out of his hockey slump. His coach offers Coco money to continue to hang out with Logan during the playoffs. Coco struggles with lying to him.
THE CUTTING EDGE is a heartwarming and entertaining story. Coco is the figure skating instructor for Logan’s niece/daughter, Poppy. I love the relationship she has with both Poppy and Logan. Poppy is adorable and continually made me laugh. Logan is smitten by Coco. He gives her the best presents. He is very thoughtful. Both Coco and Logan keep things from the other than cause issues for the couple.
There are interesting obstacles and situations in the story. I am looking forward to Cam and Lana’s story next, COLD FEET I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

This was my first hockey romance and it did not disappoint although I did feel like this was a bit of a hospital romance as more than 70% of things seem to happen in the hospital.
The chemistry of the two MCs was the best part of this book for sire. Its also written in dual POV (which I always love).
This book was such a cute and fun read, that I finished in less than a day and had me hooked for the first few chapters.
Overall - I’d recommend this book, I loved it.

Thank you @netgally and Lisa Daily for this late ARC!!
This was a cute and funny quick read. When NHL superstar and single dad Logan Rivers hits future Olympic Champion Figure skater Coco with a stray puck, he does everything in his power to make it up to her.
I loved the banter between Logan and his daughter Poppy. I wish there was more of her sprinkled throughout the book.
Logan is so sweet. Almost too sweet. He is a gift giver. Not my love language but it is how he shows his love to Coco. Their relationship is strained by secrets. Secrets that could of been avoided.
My favorite Quote

This book has all the right pieces to succeed and unfortunately, they didn't all land. It was a little disjointed and confusing. While I liked Coco as a character, she needed to be a bit more fleshed out. Logan as a character needs more depth, because currently he sounds too much like he was written by a woman. There are also multiple instances of a duplicate paragraph showing up on the next page.
I think concussion protocol and how head injuries are addressed at the emergency room needed more research. The hockey of it all definitely needs more research. A player would never be allowed to use their phone on the bench during a game. Overall if you're looking for a light hockey romance read without much spice, this book should hit the spot.
As always thank you to NetGalley and the author for this ARC copy.

My sincere thanks to Siesta Key and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book and give my unbiased opinion of it in the following review.
The Cutting Edge by Lisa Daily
Logan has admired Coco as his daughter's beautiful figure skating teacher, but he hasn't done anything about it. He is busy chasing the Stanley Cup and doesn't need any distractions. When he is late to pick Poppy up from her lesson and Coco delivers her to his practice rink, he accidentally hits Coco in the head with a hockey puck that was flying at more than 100 mph. He'll do anything to make it up to her. He is practically in love with her from the get-go. Coco is smitten as well, and I have to admit they were pretty cute together. I had to smile at Logan's complete and utter swoony behavior. It was pretty over the top for the beginning of a relationship and fun to read.
My main criticism of this book was glossing over of the seriousness of Coco's head injury. Not only would I have been fuming over the lack of professional care she seemed to be receiving from the hospital she was at, but I couldn't believe that people were able to waltz in and out of that hospital and her room at will. Only a little research would have revealed that a concussion such as Coco's would not have allowed for so much stimulation. I know high school athletes who have gone through weeks without bright light, screens, music, even conversation in an effort to gain the best possible outcome after a serious concussion. The way this subject was treated was not, in my opinion, realistic or genuine. I realize that this book is fiction and that the author can ignore something like this for the sake of the story, but I truly think that this could have been done better. Unfortunately, I couldn't forget this as I kept reading and it did lessen my overall enjoyment of the book.

Thanks to Netgalley and Siesta Key for providing a free copy of the book.
Rating : 2.5 stars
- I loved the characters, specially Poppy. Also her bond with Logan. She was so refreshing and cute.
- I liked the fact that Logan cared for Coco but it was way too much at the first. I mean they didn't even talk before and giving that much gifts on just their first fight was a bit excessive.
- On their last fight, I expected some tension but it ended so soon.
- Since they both had past traumas, I expected to read more about it.
- I wanted at least one scene of Coco and Logan with their parents.
- In most stories, s*x happens just after few interactions between the main characters. I liked that here they both spent time together and didn't directly go to bed.
Overall I liked the story. It was a cute sweet romance and an easy read. Wasn't too long or too short.

I was hooked after the first few chapters I thought this was gonna be a 5 star read, however after a few chapters it really slowed down and there wasn’t a ton of depth to the characters, and the conflict was just kind of annoying. However it still was an enjoyable easy read and I’m a sucker for hockey romances. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

Love a good sports themed book, overall a good quick read. It started out strong but lost me half way before it started to pick back up. The ending felt rushed but happy ending.

DNF’d at 65% 😟
I really wanted to love this book but insta-love just really isn’t my thing and I was really struggling to make it this far. Out of the many hockey romances I read this year, this was the first one I found to be super cringy.
Add on to the fact that there were so many spelling mistakes and grammatical errors?? And the fact that they didn’t even spell Gretzky’s name right, it was just the last straw!
I received this book as an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review, and unfortunately I’m going to be rating it as 1/5 stars.

A feel good hockey romance that will leave you with the warm and fuzzies and asking yourself when's it gonna be my turn!?
This is book is a little bit of a slow start and the smut leaves you wanting more. However, I love how the story develops, watching Coco and Logan fall for each other is goals, I adore how they interact with each other and how Logans treats Coco and poppy like the queens they are is everything.

I’m so confused on this book. The premise of this book sounded interesting, but it missed the mark for me.
There were so many unrealistic aspects to this book. Like the MMC having his phone on him during a professional hockey game? That would never happen.
Over half the book also takes place with her in the hospital, which really doesn’t allow them to really get to know each other. Also, I’m confused on when they actually hooked up for the first time. Was it in the hospital (kinda weird) or way later in the book?
The FMC didn’t want him to pay for anything or take any handouts, yet she was happy to accept all his gifts in the hospital?
The FMC also gets mad at the MMC at the end, but I also think he has a right to be upset too?
This one just wasn’t for me. I feel bad giving a bad review, but this one was tough for me to get through.

The Cutting Edge, by Lisa Daily, is a fun, lighthearted, rom-com with a sporty undertone. I know very little about hockey or competitive ice skating and learned a few behind-the-scenes things about each. Thanks, NetGalley and the publisher, for providing me with an ARC ebook to review.

Cute story. The characters were likeable and the banter between them was funny. I liked the figure skating aspect of it but there wasn’t much. I’m a huge hockey fan so bonus points for having the Washington Capitals in the story (even if they lost). Poppy was adorable. Overall, it was a quick fun read.

✨ 4 STARS ✨
“life loves a good spin - and sometimes, those unexpected turns on the ice lead to breathtaking reversals of fortune.”
the cutting edge follows an olympic skater named coco’s journey with love and fortune as she finds her way back to the olympics. when she’s accidentally injured by a cute nhl hockey player and full time dad, she ends up spending weeks in the hospital getting steered away from her lifelong goal.
figure skating + ice hockey + single dad + lucky charm + dual pov + he falls first
this was a really quick simple read for me and i thought the storyline was very cute and fun. i’m also a florida gal so i think i’m biased bc i love st pete BUT i actually really enjoyed the book. famous hockey players are allowed to hit you on the head and ruin and save your life simultaneously and spoil you and fall in love with you in a hospital in like three days!
the side characters were fun too and him being a father wasn’t like oddly or obnoxiously mentioned in the book which i appreciated. i would’ve LOVED to see more of coco’s skating journey intertwined with the romance since she was basically injured the whole book and it focused a lot more on logan’s career and success. it also would’ve been nice to have more backstory on some parts like coco’s ex boyfriend randomly showing up for one page or checking back in on mrs. marcum since coco was sooo worried about her in the beginning, etc.
with all of that being said, i am a fan and will read the rest of the series next year and my rose colored glasses are on and y’all can’t tell me ANYTHING about coco and logan because i fell in love with them so easily bc it was SOOO easy and happy and perfect and the joy of books is being allowed to appreciate unrealistic love.

First, thank you to NetGalley, Lisa Daily and Siesta Key for this ARC.
Coco Charmont is a former Olympian figure skater who is currently working as a skating instructor. One day, her youngest student Penny's father is late picking her up, turns out, he works in the same arena. When she decides to deliver Poppy to her dad, she gets a surprise, and wakes up in the hospital. Turns out, Poppy's dad is NHL hockey star Logan Rivers, and he had just hit her in the head with a hockey puck. Could this accident have been fate? Logan has been in a scoring slump for a few games now, but with this chance encounter his luck seems to have changed. Unable to get her out of his head, Logan showers Coco with gifts and attention while she's trapped in the hospital, and the two seem to have quickly building chemistry. Could this chance be the luck they've both been looking for?
I really wanted to like this story, it had the premise for a great romcom. A hockey romance and a figure skater? a cinnamon roll love interest? single devoted dad? but I just couldn't find myself getting past the issues within the storyline. I couldn't grasp how Coco didn't already know that Poppy's father was an NHL hockey player, especially when they work in the same stadium. Or how Logan didn't know an Olympian was teaching his daughter how to skate, that would be a big selling point. I feel like more research should have also been done into the NHL, I couldn't follow the timeline provided in the book. Daily would say "Few weeks" so often that it would appear months have gone by but NHL playoffs last four weeks. I was also put off by the third act, this introduction to a cheating ex felt random when coupled with the previous talks of her having relationship issues only because she would choose her skating over them. His random stumbling on the couples first date, the dialogue between the ex and Logan, the kind of break up. It all felt a bit forced and awkward.
I know this is an ARC, but I really feel like this could use a proofread for editing. There was line duplication, even full paragraph duplication, a few typos, an image of a hockey stick and puck randomly inserted in the middle of some chapters. I imagine this is meant to be breaks in the story but it wasn't used consistently. There would be missing breaks where time has passed and it would become jarring and confusing, responses to conversation that appear to be missing and it was hard to differentiate texts and conversation, where there would be missing quotation marks. I also don't know if it was just uploaded incorrectly to NetGalley but the entirety of the book was italic and aligned to the right edge of the document, as well as entirely blacked out unless I changed the appearance in my kindle.
Again, I really wanted to like this story, it has all the building blocks for a really fun light sports romance, but I do feel like it needs more research and time.

2.5/5- ARC
At first I was entertained. By the end I felt like I was being punished.
There were a lot of grammatical and structural issues that I can only assume were fixed before the official copy was sent out. But reading this copy with these issues made it a little painful at times.
There were so many character traits that the author wrote then dropped. Like the fact Coco was obsessed with her elderly neighbours health but once she started seeing the MMC she literally never mentions her again? Or the MMC being a father but he literally hands the kid off to the nanny for like 80% of the book. Also, is the skating career in the room with us?
I think making her career such an integral part of the FMC’s story made no sense for the setting of the book, with about 60% of the book spent in the hospital.
The third act breakup wasn’t hashed out well enough, and therefore made little to no sense and because it happened so late in the book it kinda felt like the author forgot to do one and so just made it up quickly.
The “spicy” scene felt super out of place, there’s like 0 foul language in the book before this and the first sex scene is a fade to black.
Weirdly, this book for me could’ve been 50/60 pages longer just to allow for dialogue and character’s thought processes to be fleshed out a little better. Because this book did show great promise.
