Originally, I did not think I could finish this book because it was so dark and the narrator. was so bad! The narrator made this book at times hard to comprehend. I find myself having to restart to get a better grasp. I also found both Tess and Sara pretty annoying characters and the narrator's voice as Tess was extremely annoying! This was my first Karin Slaughter read, so I am not familiar with the Will Trent series or main characters. I will say I find Will much more likable than Sara. I did like the Columbo/ Perry Mason feel of the story, but I do not find Sara as likable as Columbo, maybe more like Mason. The story and plot were very good but far too technical! We are readers not med students or medical professionals, although some readers may be medical professionals. However, the story could have been told with less technicality and would have flowed much better.
With all the technical jargon and the pitch and style of the narrator, it made it a bit hard to follow the trial. There are many triggers in this book such as violence, abuse, assault, sexual assault, rape, addiction, mental health and trauma. Thanks to Netgalley and Blackston Publishing for this arc for an honest review.

AFTER THAT NIGHT is an intense, dark, and deeply affecting story. Slaughter has a true gift for showing her readers all sides of a situation. She delves into the grit and underbelly of society while still allowing hope and moments of happiness to permeate the narrative.
For the eleventh time, I have entered back into the world of Will Trent and the GBI. Each time, I learn more about the characters as they tackle their latest investigation. This time around, it was personal. They were dealing with Sara’s past and trying to find a link between her case and two others.
It must be said that there are topics and incidents within this book that will make a reader uncomfortable and possibly could trigger some. Any time a writer deals with sexual assault, I ask myself why am I reading it. Many times, I stop reading. It can be too much or not feel right. However, for the authors that give the victims justice and a voice, I continue as I did with this one. The way Slaughter deals with the crimes committed is done with brutal honesty as well as reverence. There is a respect for the victims that comes through. For this, I applaud the author.
AFTER THAT NIGHT was an all-consuming read for me. The way the author unraveled the mystery and allowed the investigation to progress kept me on the edge of my seat. Slaughter continues to prove why she is simply the best at merging suspense, heart, and witty quips thrown in on the side.

Thank you Netgalley & Blackstone Publishing Audiobooks for an ALC of After That Night by Karin Slaughter. I think this is book #11 in the Will Trent series, and I was nervous as I haven't read any of the others. This one was totally fine listening to as a standalone - fantastic, actually - but now that I've listened I want to go back and listen to the entire series. I fell in love with these characters and as always, Karin did such a great job with their different personalities and tying in past stories/their backgrounds. The narrator knocks this one out of the park.
What's it about?
The book follows Will Trent & Sara Linton - 15 years ago, Sara's life was forever altered when she was violently attacked. She's now a successful doctor and has tried to leave the past behind her. That is, until she tries to save a young woman in the ER who's also been brutally attacked - And her attack is eerily similar to Sara's from almost two decades ago.
Guys. This one is wild. I hate giving TWs in a review as I don't like to give away any spoilers, but this entire book revolves around sexual assault - So if this is a triggering subject for you, please keep that in mind. It isn't just mentioned, it's described in detail throughout.
The story gets complicated, but Karin does a masterful job of crafting a wicked web that she weaves. Some of these characters are truly evil and despicable. This audiobook makes a rather long book with long chapters easy to breeze through - I wanted to listen every time I had to stop. Can't wait to see what comes next for Will & Sara.

I enjoyed this story. It had me hooked from the start. It was a little hard to follow in the audiobook format, I feel like I would have preferred the print version. The plot and character development were good. It was pretty predictable but still entertaining.

This book kept me hooked the whole time. Karin's books have been hit and miss with me since Pretty Girls, but her last two were absolute fire! I love her writing style. Many women are being raped and killed. Sarah's rape from long ago is somehow connected, so she, Will, Faith, and the whole crew are on a mission to find out how.
Thank you to Netgalley for this advanced listening copy for an honest review.

I usually shy away from her books due to how graphic it can get but this was great!
I love how it answered some questions from the last and everyone worked together so well. The ending made me eager for the next one.

Thank you NetGalley and Blackstone Publishing for the early access to this highly anticipated latest instalment of Will Trent series, "After That Night." This, just like the last books in the series I read, this one was epic.
It is best to read Grant County series, before diving into Will Trent series, because this will spoil some of the major plot lines; however it is not necessary to read them, in order to follow the plot here.
A horrific event that happened to Sara 15 years ago, is brought back to the front, because of new crimes that GBI is investigating. After a young woman dies from horrific injuries sustained after a vicious sexual assault, Sara promises to find justice for her. This is a riveting story, with dark themes throughout, therefore, please be aware of any possible triggers.
I cannot wait for the next instalment.

When I saw this book come up on my shelf, I was so excited because every book that Karen Slaughter has written I thoroughly enjoyed. This book kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I couldn’t read it fast enough to find out how it would end. Karin did not disappoint!! This was definitely a page turner….

Absolutely stellar addition to the Will Trent universe. That handles a very very difficult topic but it knocks it out of the park. What a fantastically written thriller.

The newest installment of the Will Trent saga finally arrives! What can I say as a long time lover of Karin Slaughter. After That Night was like hanging out with old friends again. Will, Faith, Sarah and even a few characters from the past. As always, from the first page you are drawn in to a fast paced mystery. Several rapes are suddenly tied to Sarah's rape, which we've known about since her first appearance in Slaughter's books. The story unfolds and we learn the true story behind Sarah. Karin slaughter is a master at character development and readers feel invested in her characters. Will Trent is so very lovable but unique as well! If you like faced paced murder mystery/thriller books- I highly recommend Karin Slaughter!
The audiobook was good, I felt the narrator was a little flat in her normal speaking voice but read the high drama parts very well. Overall, I'd listen to another narrated by Kathleen Early.
Thank you Netgalley and Karin Slaughter for a free copy in exchange for an honest review!

I sure have missed these characters!!!
Karin Slaughter weaves together the lives of Sara Linton and Dani Cooper, two women connected by an act of violence that shattered their worlds. The complex storytelling gives so many details and development of each character.
If you've been a fan of Will Trent and Sara Linton for a while now, this one does not disappoint and the twist leave you surprised. There may be some trigger warnings and language but that is almost to be expected from a Karin Slaughter book. It is raw and powerful. It was just a tad too long for my liking but other than that I highly recommend.

I will read a dinner menu if it was written by Slaughter. She grabs her readers and does not let them go until the story is finished. I am a HUGE fan and this audiobook was phenomenal. Even though this is a book in a series, you can read it as a stand alone. It is a small plus to keep up with Will Trent, so if I was you, I would read the entire series! The plot was intense and gripping and the scenes were graphic (might be a trigger warning for some). I would highly recommend this audiobook (bravo to the narrator was bringing this story to LIFE)!

I've been hearing about the Will Trent series for a while but hadn't read any of the books in the series. I have read and enjoyed books by Karin Slaughter though. I listened to the latest installment of the series and absolutely loved the book. The story pulled me in from the start. I didn't feel like I missed out having not read the previous books and was immediately invested in the characters. The pace was good building up the suspense to the end. There were a lot of layers and interesting twists to the story. I listened to this almost in one sitting, only stopping when I had to do other things. I've already picked up some of the earlier books in the series. I received an audio copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.

3.5 stars.
I've never read a book by Karin Slaughter before and I think this one will stay with me for a long time. There weren't a ton of descriptions of the sexual assaults that took place (though there were plenty, to my mind) but the aftermath was what was affecting and palpable. Trigger warning there. However, I really liked the conversation between Sara and Sloan about stupid, judgemental things people say when they know someone is a survivor, that are offensive, insensitive, and downright dumb. That was a particularly satisfying moment in the book and something more people should know and be aware of.
This is a pure thrill ride, well-paced, and plot-driven, not a huge amount of character development or crafted writing, which I think most people know going in. I didn't realize this was a series, but I think one can dive into it anyway knowing you're not going to get 10 books of backstory summarized herein, so just don't expect all your character questions to be fleshed out.

GBI investigator Will Trent returns in this new release by Karin Slaughter.
Will's fiancée Medical Examiner Sara Linton works on a young woman in the ER who has been brutally attacked and left for dead. Eerily like an experience in Sara's own past, she is compelled to investigate the young woman's death and pulls Will into the search for her assaulter.
With complications such as not actually being assigned to the case and the involvement of a prominent family in Atlanta, the two pursue the case anyway. Trent and Linton must navigate their way through a myriad of roadblocks, twists and turns to learn the truth.
This one will keep you glued until the answers are uncovered.
Kathleen Early, who has many read other of Slaughter's books as well as those of other authors, voices Sara Linton's story.
Recommended for old and new fans of Karin Slaughter and her hero Will Trent.

I just cannot say enough about Karin Slaughter and the Will Trent Series. I have loved every single book in the series and this last one had me from the get-go!
I love how Slaughter writes imperfect, flawed characters and how they resonate with me in different ways. The trio of Faith, Will, and Amanda are so fun to read and see their interactions. I love how Amanda is so into the upcoming wedding and really cares about them. I didn't feel the same "action-packed" story as in some of the previous books, but I was okay with that.
After reading the previous 10 books in the series, I feel like I know the characters personally and I get so excited or sad or emotional for them when different things occur. I love how close Will and Faith are as friends and partners. And the romance between Sara and Will is just growing and growing and I love it.
I loved the audiobook's narrator, Kathleen Early, and I will definitely be inclined to listen to her again. With the combination of Karin Slaughter and an excellent narrator like Ms. Early, the reader just can't go wrong.
I would like to thank NetGalley and Blackstone Publishing for a free audiobook in exchange for my honest opinion which I have given.

Ok, I'm late to the party -- this is my first Will Trent book. First, it read/listened great as a standalone. Next, love the characters! Love the voice! Lastly, intriguing plot that kept me going... and going.... this was long for mystery/thriller. The length and what felt like unnecessary repetition keeps this from being 5 stars for me, but I still highly recommend it, and I'll be back for more.

It's honestly a bit unfair for me to submit a review for a Karin Slaughter book, in particular one read by the absolutely fantastic Kathleen Early - Ms. Slaughter is my favorite author and Ms. Early is my favorite audiobook reader. On top of all of that, the Grant County / Will Trent series is my favorite series of all time. A lot of favorites rolled into one here, eh? Having said all of this, AFTER THAT NIGHT, the latest installment of the Will Trent series, delivers another white-knuckle thrilling story of our wonderful main characters - Will and, another one of my favorites, Dr. Sara Linton. Any and all references to the events of the Grant County series will cut to the core of me, so this book was an emotional rollercoaster for me. For any fan of Ms. Slaughter's this is an easy recommendation. Five stars, A+!!!!

I’m not sure if it was a timing thing, but I couldn’t finish this book. I feel like I have been listening to it for weeks, when it’s really just been days. The book is REALLY long (16 hrs 32 min on audio). I wanted to like this book, because the first chapter hooked me immediately, and I started watching the Will Trent TV series that night, but I think the length just got to me and I lost interest with all the characters. The narrator was great, despite the length.

This book pulled me in from start to finish. When i wasn’t listening, i was thinking about it. I’m not quite sure what it was but i was really into the story and the puzzle of it. And damn it i was down for them catching a bunch of rapists.
This story has a lot of details and can be quite graphic at times. But i was really sucked into the story and the characters.
I also really liked the main characters. They’re smart and in your face. I know this is a series and i was not caught up on it and I’m sure having more background info would have helped but i did fine with understanding the story and didn’t feel like i was really missing anything.
I just enjoyed this story and was surprised by the ending.
The narration was done well.
