This child-friendly non-fiction about games through the ages and across the world was an insightful and engaging read. It covers a wide range of different types of games and instructs the reader on how to play the games for themselves which was fun. This book was a little bit too advanced for my child but I think it would be perfect for the Key Stage 2 crowd (7-11 year olds). The illustrations were fun and brought the text to life.

This book is brilliant, full of different games from around the world. I love how it is set out so there is games for one player, all the way up to 14+. For each game, you have where it originates from, how many players you need, what equipment you need, if it's an indoor or outdoor game, and how to play the game. The illustrations are beautiful and information easy to follow. This is a must buy book if you need new ideas for games. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this brilliant book.

This is a cheerful, colorfully illustrated book of children’s games from around the world. I was hoping to find some good nature based ones to feature in my children’s nature magazine but they weren’t a great fit for my needs. Most of the games are best suited for groups of younger kids. I do appreciate the diversity. There are lots of fun ideas.

What a wonderful look at games from around the world! I told three friends about this book the day I read it because I thought the kids would have fun going through it together. I love how games were divided in the book by the amount of players, ranging from 1 player to many. The information provided was detailed and made me excited to try some of the games that I saw. Plus, it shared where the game was from and gave us the opportunity to connect it to our geography lesson.

Overall this is a beautiful look at play and a great addition to any home library,

FANTASTIC! From Rock, Paper, Scissors (Chinese) to The Handkerchief (Greek). Games from all around the world, with delightful illustrations, for one, two or more players. Almost 50 games in total. LOADS OF FUN!

A lovely little collection of games. I like how beautifully ordered the book is as it is divided up by how many players are required. There is also a nice system of showing which country the game originated in and some of its history.
Some of the games are familiar or a twist on ones you may know and love and the book also covers similar games and what they’re called in other countries so you can see similarities and differences.
The illustrations are brilliant, both a joy to look at but also how really clearly how the game is played, they definitely add volumes to the verbal description. The actual descriptions are kept short and punchy and to the point so a very accessible to children and aren’t laborious to read or overly complicated to follow. Lastly there are some suggestions or challenges of how to follow up the games, such as looking up the accompanying song in the native language of the game or making up a game of your own. This would be a great way to stretch the children’s imagination and keep them occupied. It also encourages them to try teamwork, healthy exercise and lateral thinking. I teach four and five year old and will definitely try some of these games with them. Thank you, a great an inspiring read.

I absolutely loved this book! It’s perfect for my classroom and I plan on using a new game each week of school. It’s such a unique and fun way to teach children games from around the world. The graphics are super cute, the font is easily read, and the layout makes it quick to find what you are looking for. I highly recommend this book to all families and teachers. A great age would be 5+ for the games.

Wow! That is some damn awesome research! That too on games from all corners of the globe! How do you do that?! Google is one thing but this?! Short, colourful book that has all the most unique and unheard games for one/two/three or a group of friends?

I totally believe that we all need this book. Games isn’t just screen games we all want to yell but it’s time to show the kids that actual games are more fun to play! You won’t believe me how diverse and exciting these games are. Their details and their place of origin are distinctly given which I truly admire.

A must keep and a must share book!

Thank you, Quarto Publishing Group, for the advance reading copy.

Great children’s activity book to keep children entertained. It comes with lots of activities and each activity is labeled showing how many people are required to participate. Great for a rainy day or a day off where children need to be off screens and find another activity to keep them busy.

A boredom buster! If your kids ever tell you they are bored, this is the perfect book to give them new ideas for play. Not only does the book provide tons of games, it also has them sectioned out by different amounts of players to participate. So there are games for a kid who may want to play by themselves, with one other person, a small group, or even a big group. I also loved how the book shows how common certain games are played thoughout the world, and yet at the same time showcases little known games from other cultures. I can see this being a great tool for parents that want to provide new play options to their children. It can also be great for teaching about geography or different cultures while providing an active and engaging element to the lesson.

This is a great way to learn about games kids play in different countries. Some are pretty similar in many different countries. Then there are some that are specific to one particular country. They are separated by how many people are needed to play them. It also helpfully says what is needed to play at the top of each page. This would be useful for rainy day boredom or for party games.

This cheerfully illustrated book is jam packed with fun ideas from around the world. Organized by the number of players (from one to a big group), there are so many excellent ideas to occupy kids. Yay!! Things that kids can enjoy away from the computer.

Helpful information for each game is included. For example, inside or outside; what is needed to play, the directions (of course) and more. Start with the well known “Rock, Paper, Scissor” and keep turning the pages for more ideas. There are so many good ones.

Highly recommended for kids you know. The games are fun, involving, creative and (I say again) not on computers or tablets or phones.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for this title. All opinions are my own.

Thank you to NetGalley, along with the Publisher for the eARC. This is such a fun book! A great book for children to engage with when they are bored with their toys, or when the weather does not allow for outside play. I love how the games are from different countries, and that the book is organized by how many players are needed for the game. The directions are easy to follow and the illustrations help as well.

Let's Play is an exploration of games from around the world. There are sections for single player games, two-player games, games for 3-5 kids, and games for bigger groups. I love the diversity of games here. There are games from all over the world. There are physical and mental games. There is something for everyone! This would be a wonderful book for the classroom!

Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review this eARC in exchange for my honest review on the book!

This book is a great answer to the proclamation of 'Im bored' from our kids! each page features a different game, and these are not all familiar games, a real selling point is that the games originate from all around the world!

Each page starts with the lowdown (fact file) - where the game can be played (indoors or outdoors and any equipment needed (gratifyingly, no 'fancy' equipment needed! Mostly it is easily accessible).

Each pages' 'fact file' also tells us where in the world the game came from, as such it is great from developing our kids geographical knowledge too!

Sections include 'games for one player', games for 2 players, games for 3-5 people, games for big groups, the book concluded by encouraging the reader to make their own games! All in all, a lot of fun!

My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.
