The third in the Green Creek series does, for me personally as a reader, suffer slightly from being a "middle child" of a book series. There is a higher demand for subsequent books to be "more" in every aspect and this one didn't hit that feeling for me.

However, I feel that Klune showed his mastery as always in this book. The main character experiences a heartbreaking abuse - gaslighting as shown with magical amnesia and hostage situations. The struggle with coming back to oneself and those who love and support them is depicted deftly. The breadth of representation in this series has been enjoyable to read and experience.

If you haven't already read Wolfsong and Ravensong, then stop reading this review. You'll be very confused, and it will spoil the other two books.

At first, I thought the opening chapters were flashbacks. But we soon come to realize that Klune isn't describing Robbie's life before the Bennett Pack, but rather a life that has been created. Robbie was kidnapped, and his memories stolen. When he's finally brought back into the fold, the whole pack is fractured. Robbie can't remember them or what he's done to them. Worse still is that Kelly, his mate, has had his wolf taken from him and is now human. Of course, this all can be tied back to one person, Robert Livingstone.

So far, this has been my favorite entry into the Green Creek series. Robbie was always more of an outsider character to me in the other two books, and I liked following his story and learning more about him. The relationship between him and Kelly was so sweet to follow. Kelly is asexual, and the way they interact is so loving and caring. They both describe their love as endless, and that's how it feels on the page.

There are still a couple pitfalls for me. I wish there was more description of how the magic worked. How is Robert Livingstone so overpowered? Is it just because he's a straight psychopath? Literal years have passed in these books, almost decades, and still, there isn't another explanation beyond it's dark magic. Also, Klune sets up the rules of the world, only to continuously break them either because the Bennett pack is special or because Robert is so strong. I'm starting to hate the phrase "and everything we knew was wrong." It's a tired recurring theme in this series.

The other big whiff for me is how the characters talk. They're all meant to be in their mid-twenties to forties, but the men seem so juvenile to me. If I didn't know their ages, I would think they were all teenagers. They're all so angsty. Maybe it's because wolves age slower, so it is like they're teenagers. It just made it hard for me to picture the book.

Kelly and Robbie are two little cinnamon rolls, and I loved watching them figure each other out. There is a lot of pain and remorse in this book, but it's so lovely. TJ Klune has wonderful prose; it's easy to get lost in his writing. While a few things could have been touched up, I still loved reading this book.

Thanks to NetGalley and Tor for the ARC.

Gay werewolves(part 3)? Found family? Love that will make you sob happy and sad tears? YES.

I am an avid reader and lover of TJ Klune’s writing. He has absolutely become a MUST read author for me. When it comes to the Green Creek series, I firmly believe that it just gets better and better with every book. Heartsong was no different.

I laughed. I cried. I was angry. I cried some more. I was happy. Oh so happy! I love this world & these characters so much.

I am a SLEEPY girly who goes to bed by 10pm most nights. This book and the rest of the Green Creek series had me staying up until the light of morning in some cases.

I don’t think i’ve ever finished a series faster. Hooked for life. Can’t wait to have the rest of the beautiful books on my bookshelf!!

What a journey this book takes you on. A reaffirmation of the importance of family and the ties that bind. I loved returning to these characters and seeing them fight to reclaim their family bonds. I also enjoyed the bit of mystery plot and how this book advanced the larger narrative taking place in this series. This series is so well written and it feels like coming home with every book.

Have your tissues ready, because this book is one emotional journey.

“Heartsong” is the story of Kelly Bennett and Robbie Fontaine, written in Robbie’s POV. This takes place after “Ravensong” with Robbie in Caswell, Maine as the second to Alpha Michelle Hughes. He lives with the witch of the pack, Ezra, and after a lifetime of bouncing between packs, finally has one to call his own. However, after a trip to visit another wolf pack on behalf of Michelle, Robbie learns that not everything is as it seems, and maybe these dreams he’s been having of wolves might actually mean something.

“𝙄 𝙨𝙚𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪.” 𝙆𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙨𝙖𝙞𝙙, “𝘼𝙣𝙙 𝙄 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙡𝙚𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙜𝙤.”

When Robbie encounters the Bennett pack, he’s told that not only does he have a mate, but he’s been missing for over a year. However, Robbie doesn’t believe them as he has no recollection them. But the more time he spends with Kelly and the rest of the Bennett pack, the more the truth unfolds.

This book is filled with so much. From watching Robbie fall back in love with Kelly, to the pack becoming one after everything that’s happened, to the cliffhanger at the end. I’ve always loved Robbie since meeting him in “Wolfsong,” and so glad we finally got his and Kelly’s story. You’ll laugh, cry, rage, and fall in love again with the Bennett pack. I didn’t want Kelly and Robbie’s story to end, but now we must move onto final brother’s story.

I will never get over this book or Robbie and Kelly *sobs* I need to start an immediate re-read and have that re-read never end. I don't know what T.J Klune puts into his werewolf books but I literally CANNOT GET ENOUGH!!! how about a little review now? LET'S BEGIN! I was a little skeptical to have an entire book from Robbie's POV but this was just pulled off so wonderfully. No spoilers here, but there is a huge plot twist within the first 20% of the book and it got me !!! I was got!! From there we just have the most heart wrenching things happen to all our favorite characters and somehow at the same have the most heart warming moments? I don't know how TJ does it but he does every. time. Before I go, I just love the ace rep in this book and with these characters <333 I felt like it was handled with such grace.
Just read this book. If you haven't started the series yet, start the series. If I could give this book an infinite amount of stars I would, but I guess 5 stars will have to suffice.

Thanks netgally for the arc <3

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this arc. I could not put this book down it was so much fun. I loved all the representation in it as well.

My favourite book in the entire Green Creek series. Thank you for giving us Kelly Bennett, TJ. Ace representation is few and far between, and it's nice finding yourself between the pages of your favourite fantasy series. Robbie's story is devastating. The pacing in this novel is phenomenal. Ugh, I just love this book so much.

An amazing installment to the series. These books never fail to make me so happy (and sob)! T. J. Klune is wonderful at mixing plot and romance in a way that works so well. This series is one of my favourites, and I think works if you like fantasy and/or romance!

Wow, after reading the previous two books in the series, I thought I knew what I was in for here. I thought this book would be similar to Ravensong, established characters, a bit of backstory, and moving the plot forward.

I wasn’t expecting to get about a third of the way through the book and be shocked by what was actually happening! I’ve read a lot of TJ Klune books, and absolutely wasn’t expecting how this book went. Bravo! I thought I had you figured out after reading five of your books. I was wrong, and I love that you got me!

I loved this book overall, it was sad and funny and surprising in all the best ways while continuing to follow the characters you’ve gotten to know over the past couple books. Brilliant continuation overall, probably my second favorite in the series after Wolfsong. Robbie, Rico, and Kelly absolutely shine here, I’ll miss hearing from them as much as the fourth book shifts to Carter’s perspective. Robbie is funny in Ravensong, but with his perfective in Heartsong, his sense of humor and awkwardness is on full display here. It’s endearing and laugh out loud funny at times.

I’ll absolutely pick up the last book in the series. I can’t wait to see how things end for the Bennetts.

I absolutely love this series and its characters, and Heartsong truly delivers. Book #3 in the Green Creek series is emotional, gut-wrenching, action-packed... and yet has the deep moments of love and connection that are the hallmark of this series (plus some truly funny scenes and dialogue that make it all sing). I highly recommend this entire series.

This is third book in the series and you need to read the other two or you will be lost.Besides the books are awesome so start at the beginning to enjoy all the magic and wonder of this series. I couldn't wait to read this book and get back to hanging out with the Bennett's. This is the story of Robbie and Kelly.

The way that they see each other and love is a beautiful thing. They fight for each other and for their relationship. You just find yourself rooting for the Bennetts in all the battles and hoping they prevail.

I love T.J. Klune books as they make you laugh. Everyone just wants to belong and be loved and accepted as they are and it is so powerful to read. The pack will be tested again and great set up for next book.

This book may have broken me.
I think it is my favourite in the series. Good god Robbie's story hurts. And Gavin and basically everything. 😭

I was SO excited to get an ARC of this one. I've been helplessly addicted to the series and knew I didn't want to wait until the 3rd was published in print.

This one has been my favorite so far.... It was perfect and I would change nothing. TJ Klune, you have a reader for life here.

Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I am a huge fan of TJ Klune. He has such versatility as a writer: I've read stories of his with magic, superheroes, and just some regular teens trying to figure out life too. No matter what the story, his writing has so much heart and humor.

Heartsong is the third in the Green Creek series, and is about Robbie and Kelly, who are both werewolves of the Bennett werewolf clan. The absolutely best thing about this series is the relationship between all of the characters: brothers, friends, lovers, werewolves, humans, etc.

SPOILER AHEAD. This book is told as a bit of a mystery. Robbie doesn't remember being part of the Bennett clan because he's been kidnapped by a bad magician. He has a hard time reckoning who he's become with who everyone else says he used to be. There are some dark emotional moments in all of these books where characters have to really think about the choices they have made, and the people they have hurt. The Bennetts, of course, support him with their all-consuming love. Kelly is a patient and warm mate to Robbie. Kelly is also ace, and Klune's exploration of their relationship is really sensitive and thoughtful.

If you're looking for a fantasy with lots of action as well as tenderness, this one is pretty perfect.

Thank you NetGalley for the digital ARC of this book.

I have been marathoning these books over the past week and let me tell you I am totally immersed in this world. I really love the relationships all the characters have with one another. I really enjoyed how this book was written and how we figure out what’s going on with Robbie. I thought it was fun and unique. The ending broke my heart, however, I am really excited to see how it all plays out in the last book.

TJ Klune is one of my very favorite authors and I'll read everything he puts out. My friend lent me her copy of Wolfsong, so when I saw the new editions were back on NetGalley I jumped on it right away. Robbie's tale is no less enchanting than Ox & Joe's.

TJ Klune is fast tracking his way to becoming one of my favorite authors. I really enjoyed this book that focuses on Robbie and Kelly. He has a profound way to zap characters right into my heart. I loved the dynamic of their relationship change from the other books and get some questions answered in regards to that. I would definitely recommend!!

Thank you Tor and Netgalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

I love the Green Creek series so so much. Each book is better than the last, and I honestly don’t want it to end. This book focuses on Kelly and Robbie. When Robbie’s memory is taken from him, he has to learn to love again. The love these characters have for each other is so genuine, and I rooted for them through out.

This book will make you laugh, cry, smile, and then laugh and cry again. TJ Klune is a master storyteller and has quickly become my favorite author.

If you are looking for an m/m fantasy and haven’t checked this one out, you should seriously run to the nearest book store! 🏃

Once again this series grabs my heart and never lets go.
The sense of family and fighting for what you love is woven into these pages with humor and real laugh out loud moments.
I was brought to tears in more than a few places and the whole time the book just continued to hug me.
I never want this series to end. I want to always be with my pack....pack...pack...pack. 💞
