Thanks NetGalley and WEBTOON Unscrolled for this arc

3.5/5 stars rounded down

I had high hopes for this, but it was a little disappointing. It was predictable and a bit cliche at times. The art was cool. I feel like this reads as a YA graphic novel, and if it was categorized as that I would've given it a higher rating, probably 4.5. If I bring this into my store I'll shelve it there, as I feel like if I were to purchase this from the adult graphic novel section I'd be disappointed with the reading level of this, I'd expect something with more substance or at least more depth. That said, it was still enjoyable and I read it fairly quickly. The mysteries were entertaining, and the cliffhanger ending makes me want to read the next installment.

I was definitely anticipating this one to be really good, and it was a bit of a let down for me. I really liked the premise of the story and the characters, but I feel that the story just wasn't what I expected.

Ichabod was a man with a pumpkin head who offers you a job working as a paranormal detective. Doesn't that just sound super cool? I did very much enjoy the art and illustration style.

I did find myself giggling at some of the dialogue, so for that it does gain some credit.

I would say that if the synopsis pulls you in, you should give this graphic novel a shot. It might just be one of your new favorites!

Thank you Netgalley, the author, and the publisher for a copy of this graphic novel in exchange for my honest review

A big thanks to Netgalley and WEBTOON Unscrolled for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

YES ONE OF MY FAVORITE WEBTOONS IS GETTING TURNED INTO A PUBLISHED BOOK!

Third Shift Society (Vol. one) by Meredith Moriarty is a paranormal graphic novel that is essentially about a grim reaper in training. Life’s funny. One minute you're jobless, deep in debt and on the verge of eviction; the next you’re in a fight with a monster and getting a job working for a Paranormal Detective with the head of a Jack-o-Lantern. It’s an age-old story. In one afternoon, Ellie discovers that monsters are real, she has latent psychic powers, and a well dressed man with a pumpkin for a head wants her to be his partner. It’s a lot to take in. Now the clumsy but determined Ellie and her Pumpkin-headed boss Ichabod have to team up and fight the things that go bump in the night. Before she can say “boo,” Ellie finds herself tangled up in a magical world where monsters are real, demons tend bar, and psychic conversations take place in a super unsettling mystical void. And there are even more dangerous forces at work, just out of sight.

I loved Third Shift Society back when I first read it on Webtoons, and I'm glad to finally see it recognized for the beauty it is in print form. I can't wait to rave about it to so many people. Everyone needs to read this, no more excuses.

This made absolutely no sense at all. There was no character development, just a plot that whipped from one ridiculous situation to another.

What a cliffhanger ending! Visually the book is wonderful, paired with a sarcastic pumpkin...what is not to love?! I am certainly obtaining a copy of this for the library.

"Third Shift Society: Volume One" is a mind-bending journey, blending stunning artwork with an epic science fiction narrative. The intricate artwork brings the imaginative worlds to life, while the compelling storyline keeps you hooked from start to finish. Whether you're a fan of sci-fi, fantasy, or both, "Third Shift Society: Volume One" is a must-read masterpiece that earns its five-star rating with flying colors!

It's definitely an enjoyable read! A webtoon worth being published and put on a shelf.

I'm always a fan of bascially an under dog like Ellie, an ordinary girl being thrown into a supernatural word that she knows nothing of and that we as a reader can explore with her. Especially if it's about crime cases that the protagonist needs to help solve.

Ellie's new boss in this story is a Jack-o-Lantern headed man named Ichabod, who knows of her recently discovered psychic powers and offers her a job to fight monsters and solve cases - the usual fun adventure for a webtoon.

The art style is solid and fun, and even tho Ichabod doesn't have a real human face, he is very expressive with his words and body lanaguage, definitely my favourite character throughout.

All in all I find the first volume Third Shift Society a good beginning for a series. There is room for improvement like with any first volume but overall it's without a doubt a very entertaining story for a foggy afternoon.

Third Shift Society is a fun paranormal graphic novel that follows Ellie and the pumpkin man through their encounters with monsters from the beyond. Very much plot-oriented, Volume 1 is consists of a series of episodes that are loosely connected. It very much has the vibe of a 30-minute TV show where each episode stands on its own.

Some of the transitions in the first half are jarring, and it took me a while to get sucked in. Stakes that span more than one chapter show up in the second half of this volume, at which point I became more invested.

There is no love story in this volume, but it looks like it’s setting up for that storyline for the next volume. I’ll look forward to reading it too.

Thank you, Webtoon Unscrolled and the team who created Third Shift Society, for this free Netgalley ARC.

I would give this a 3.5 stars. I did enjoy the art style and the premise of the story, but it did kind of feel a little all over the place at times, but I do think that I would be continuing on with other volumes in the story.

Ichabod being a detective protecting the city is a fun sleepy hollow twist. The characters are well developed and the artwork is gorgeous. Definitely worth a read!

This was such a fun read! The world was engaging and the art was perfect.

I can't wait to start collecting this series and get to know the characters even more.

Gah! I saw this and thought I’d give it a try and I am so glad I did. Such an awesome paranormal investigation comic. Ichobad and Ellie are hilarious and adorable and the rest of their friends add character to the story. I read this volume and then had to continue to read the story in Webtoons. The illustrations are phenomenal and the storyline flows very well. The cliffhangers leave you grasping for more. I applaud the author for creating a riveting and suspenseful story. Can’t wait to read more!

Thank you NetGalley for gifting me a copy of this volume to review!

Thank you NetGalley and Wattpad Webtoon Book Group for this arc .

I absolutely adore everything about this graphic novel. It was so very much up my alley of content. I loved all the supernatural elements, and how the powers were explained. The mysteries/ cases they had were very entertaining and interesting. The characters in this graphic novel are very well thought out, and I adore their development. The art is phenomenal, and detailed in just the right ways. Will absolutely be buying this when it comes out.

The only thing that made this hard to read was the Wattpad Webtoons splayed across every page, I do understand why it was there with it being an arc, but it was VERY distracting and made some pages hard to read

5 stars

I didn't even finish this whole book. Why? Cause I immediately loved all aspects of it and went right to Webtoons to read the rest of the webisodes. I love the what I think is a slow-burn romance between Ichabod and Ellie as well as all the paranormal entities they've encountered, friend or foe. The artwork is very smooth and attractive to the eye and could translate very well to an animated series (I hope).

So cute! I loved the dynamic, and how the two became partners. For those who love lighthearted, spooky mysteries about the paranormal. I flew through this and had the time of my life. Beyond excited for volume 2!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. It has a quirky sense of humor, mystery, and heart. The volume includes a variety of individual stories (cases), while having ongoing plot as well. The characters are likeable and intriguing. I also love the art style. Quite curious for the tale to continue!

WOW! This is the perfect paranormal murder mystery graphic novel!

Synopsis: Third Shift Society is a webtoon centering this woman named Ellie who has a hard time finding a job that's a good fit for her. She accidentally finds out that she has latent psychic powers when trying to defend a Paranormal Detective with a head of a Jack-o-Lantern from a monster. She gets roped into being his partner. And the fun begins!

I loved all the fantastic artwork, great action scenes, and the multiple narrative plot points, some being heart felt. This was one of the more complex webtoons I've read with lots of dialogue and characters. This is perfect for paranormal lovers who like ghosts, monsters, vampires, and more! I am looking forward to the second volume and recommend this to anyone who likes webtoons. It also kind of reminds me of Sleepy Hallow and Ghostbusters mixed with vampires. I loved it.

Thank you to Netgalley, Meredith Moriarty, and Webtoon for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

If you are a fan of Lockwood & Co. and Sleepy Hallow this is for you.

Okay so a review. In the beginning her friend ask how much money she needs to cover rent and things she say $200, which felt like such a low sum.. then later on she just so happens to have powers that she didn't know about a bit cliché but I respect it. the paper knight was a cool enemy, and I love that the pumpkin guy's name is Ichabod so it leans in to sleepy hallow side.
