This might be a little optimistic but the theory is good. Well illustrated and clear directions make working with your dog fun and easy. With the purchase of the book you get access to video's online. The ease of training depends on the breed and amount of time you are willing to invest. A good investment with a new puppy or older rescue.

This reads more like a long advertisement for his website, YouTube and online Products. I didn't get much out of it practically.

This is a great resource for dog training. The techniques are broken down into shorter sections. Some techniques are use to help with a problem and some are used to help avoid problems. I am looking forward to using this book to help train my dog.

1 minute dog training is a reward based book giving useful advice for novice dog owners. It explains the psychology behind dog behaviour and emphasises the importance of building a positive relationship with our pets to get the most out of the time we put in to training. You can read it all, or dip into individual chapters as you need help as it covers a variety of topics including biting, house training and basic commands.

I really love the concept of this book. As a mom of many dogs (currently 13) we know the importance of friends with good manners. This is a perfect book for those wanting to learn to help their dog (or future dog) be its best self.

Good tips but I was hoping for more actionable items and less paragraphs based on the title. I figured the tips would be broken into 1 minute “bites” rather than a longer book of tips sprinkled into anecdotes. I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review, and the formatting was almost unreadable. I’m assuming that will be fixed before final publishing. Overall, good tips from someone who obviously knows about animal training, but the format left much to be desired.

These days we lead busy lives and don't have time to spend hours and hours every day training our dogs. In addition, puppies have short attention spans and easily get distracted in a very short amount of time. So, this 1 minute dog training concept makes so much sense for both owners and dogs.

I love that the techniques used in this book are based on kindness and positivity. It is an excellent resource for a first time dog owner or anyone interested in canine and human relationships. I have read hundreds of dog training books and still found it to be informative and well written.

The author portrays his strong love of dogs and his thirty years of experience really shines through. The chapters are well set out and the training techniques are easy to understand.

Animal trainer Tom Mitchell offers to help dog owners train their dogs with one minute long sessions. This book is brief and shares Mitchell’s training philosophy; positive reinforcement only. He eschews choke collars, prong collars, shock collars, yelling, and any form of hitting. He rightfully notes that positive reinforcement produces better results faster than negative.

This book is pretty light on the training side, with the exception that the author is actually training the reader by reinforcing the same message repeatedly. He offers free training videos through his website, which are helpful.

I rate it three stars. I am grateful for the videos, but I would have appreciated more meat in the book. Nevertheless I am implementing what I learned in training my own dogs. We’ll see how it goes. My thanks to BooksGoSocial and the author via Netgalley. My opinion is offered freely.

Some interesting ideas in this book, I like the idea of 1 minute training. Slightly a bit theoretical than practical but a good read overall. Thank you netgalley for the advanced copy

I’m really mixed with this book, possibly it’s because I was given an ecopy by the publisher. I found the layout confusing. Whilst there are some good tips, there’s a lot that is not about actually training; things like equipment, choice of dog or food, which are all important but I wanted straightforward ways on training my dog. I thought the videos (accessed through QR codes) was a great idea. I missed having an index, so I could quickly find the commands I wanted to practice.

Such an easy enjoyable read.

It will really make you want to clear your schedule and make a date to hang out with your dog (like you really need an excuse, right?).

Perfect for beginners or refreshing the basics of training in your mind, this bokk was exactly what I was looking for.

Even the simplest dog training has always mystified me. Fortunately, this book turned all of that around for me,. A fun and easy read.

As a new dog owner, I was excited to read this and see what we could learn and teach our dog. The method in the book doesn’t match the training that we’ve already being doing and didn’t feel right for us and our dog. There’s so many training methods out there but the one minute wasn’t for us.

I found this book helpful for my younger dog. We are still working on a few things, but the one minute approach has been insightful. I enjoyed the pictures included and the occasional joke. I would definitely recommend this book to a new dog owner

This is a quick and easy dog training book, with a focus on very frequent brief training sessions with lots of praise. I have been practicing it with my dog (a 2-year-old miniature American Eskimo dog), who already had the hang of sit but definitely does not know stay. I can't really report back on results yet because it is a work in progress, but I got some good tips from the book and will certainly refer back to it through our training. If anything, I feel a little closer to my wily dog after reading more about the way she understands things and I have tried to be more intentional about my interactions with her. I wish I'd read this when she was a puppy. 4 stars.

Interesting and informative. For a first time dog owner this is a wonderful book, it was good to read his strategies which when it comes down to it is just common sense which sadly some new dog owners do not have

We don't have a dog but consider getting one so that's why I was excited to give this book a read. I grew up with hunting dogs, and there are MANY poorly behaved dogs in our neighborhood, so I understand the importance of effective training, This guide delivers easy-to-follow tips to try for quickly teaching good manners and basic commands. Short training sessions are good for busy pet parents.

1 minute dog training is simply that, although Tom Mitchell does recommend longer to get the best results, the book is easy to follow and sets out the foundation training for any dog and also has a QR code you can scan that links you to his training videos, perfect for a beginner dog owner.
