This was a heavy book......but I enjoyed it. It was a rollercoaster of emotions, with present day memories and memories from the past. Well written and easy to read, I was captivated with this love story within the first few pages.

The Days I Loved You Most by Amy Neff is a beautiful story about love over the decades. When I first started reading this, I didn't expect to get drawn in the love story of Evelyn and Joseph the way I did. Their story weaves over the years, showing their perspectives, the difficult times they survived over their lifetime, and the strength of their love for each other. The book also shows how each of their children come to terms hearing about their mother's illness and the decisions their parents have made.

Be ready to be gripped by various emotions as you read the story of their life, being brought back between the past and present, and grab tissues since you won't walk away without shedding tears, and wondering how you would personally face these situations.

This is an incredible debut book for Amy Neff

Thank you Netgalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for the opportunity for the ARC.

"The Days I Loved You Most" is a romantic read and Amy Neff is undoubtedly a talented writer. I struggled with the overall premise of this novel and had to suspend reality at times. The scenes in the past moved quickly and I wish there had been more tension in the main characters' relationship. Still, this is a beautifully written novel that makes you think about the future and what we leave behind when we go.

Joseph and Evelyn grew up next door to each other, fell in love, and had a family. Here they are sixty years later as they tell their children that Evelyn has a tragic diagnosis and Joseph cannot live without her. As a result, they are planning on ending their lives together in a year.

This book is told in the present and the past. It retraces their love story - their joys, their struggles. the highlights and the lows. It captures their entire lifetime.

This book hurt. It is beautifully told and captures the essence of growing old together - living and dying. We could all be so lucky to live a life filled with this much love. There's emotion on every page. It discusses having autonomy and having a choice when there are no choices left. I'm not sure I have to words to accurately describe the impact I felt reading it. I'm looking forward to more from this author.

My posts are usually filled with dark humor and witty little one liners. However, a book like this is no laughing matter and I don’t think I could even try between my sobs.

I am emotionally destroyed since concluding The Days I Loved You Most .

This book right here exceeds all expectations and will touch on so many emotions. I laughed, I cried, I cried some more,

Most of all I witnessed a real love story and I felt the warmth .

I don’t think I could ever come up the words to do this book justice but as a thriller/romcom lover, this book isn’t usually something I would gravitate toward but I’m so glad I did .

It does not matter what your preferred genre is, every single person who picks this book up will love it.

Hands down, book of the year, and a 5 sparkly stars.

I can’t wait to read this one again…

A timeless tale of unwavering devotion, The Days I Loved You Most is a love story for the ages—an achingly beautiful novel that asks, What if you could choose how your own story ends?

Joseph and Evelyn’s New England beach homes have been side by side for generations. And in the summer of 1941, on the shores where they were raised, these two childhood friends fell in love. Now, more than sixty years later, with a lifetime between them, Joseph and Evelyn gather their three grown children to share the staggering news: she has received a tragic diagnosis, and he cannot live without her. So in one year’s time, they will end their lives on their own terms.

As the couple comes to grips with their fate, they retrace their past—the joys and regrets, the laughter and the sorrow—that brought them to this moment. They embark on a journey to create new memories to cherish, to live out their greatest dreams, and to comfort and connect with each of their children before they're gone. But as their final days draw closer, they must confront the stark reality of what they are about to do, and make peace with the legacy they will leave behind for their family.

An unforgettable and deeply romantic debut, The Days I Loved You Most is a moving tribute to the enduring power of love, a celebration of a lifetime spent together and a reminder that even in the darkest moments, there is always hope and beauty to be found.

A big thank you to HTP, NetGalley and Amy Neff for allowing me the opportunity to read and review prior to the big release on July 30, 2024 (my birthday, yay!) in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed THE DAYS I LOVED YOU MOST. The dual timeline format works well for this type of story, and it's nice to see how Evelyn and Joseph began their relationship so many years ago and all that has happened (good or bad) in the meantime. The growth of their family is so realistic that you begin to feel like you know them and their children. The heartbreaking decision they make is a great issue for bookclubs to discuss.

I recommend this novel to fans of family dramas with a strong romance/love story thread.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advance e-galley; all opinions expressed herein are my own.

Grab the tissues and be ready for an ultimate cry fest!

The Days I Loved You Most is a beautiful retelling of two lives that have never been lived without the other. The consistent love Evelyn and Joseph shared throughout the entirety of their life, through every stage and every phase is a type of love every single person dreams of one day experiencing.

The Days I Loved You Most is a story about loyalty. Loyalty to oneself, to ones dreams, to family, to tradition and mostly loyalty to the one you plan to spend the rest of your days with.

If Amy Neff continues to write stories that provoke such various emotions her name has potential to be associated with other romance greats with names like... Nicholas Sparks....Danielle Steel I pray her debut novel is not her last.

This story is so beautifully woven. It’s not often that a book & its characters occupy my mind after finishing, but this one is an exception. I absolutely loved reading Evelyn and Joseph’s story - it is such a poetic depiction of the changes, trials and growth of true love over time. The dual timelines worked so well and the ending is so beautiful. Grab your tissues, friends.

This is a wonderful, yet heartbreaking love story that is told in dual timelines with so much heart and emotion, one will definitely get caught up in the words and the characters in this book.
Evelyn and Joseph have a good, solid marriage and though it has not been perfect, they enjoy spending time with each other and now that their children are grown, and life has slowed down a bit, they can do that.
Then... the devastating diagnosis comes and decisions are made that will alter them and those they love.
Are they the right conclusions?
Are we really in a position to judge? Should we?

I read this novel quickly and I truly enjoyed it.
I did use a lot of tissues, but isn't that what a good story can do?
Thank you to @NetGalley and to @ Harlequin Trade Publishing for this beautiful ARC and allowing me to provide my own review.

Joseph and Evelyn's love story spans decades starting with young teens growing up as neighbors and best friends. They live through forced separations, war, deaths, discovery, marriage, parenting, and so much more. When this loving, 70-something, couple face Evelyn's debilitating diagnosis and prognosis, Joseph realizes he cannot live without her and they decide that in one year they will depart this world on their own terms. When they finally share Evelyn's illness ,her rate of rapid decline, and their plan, they face emotional upheaval from their three children.

Joseph's livelong devotion to Evelyn, even at her "worst moments" is heartwarming and refreshing.
This is truly a "till death do us part" emotion filled novel. Keep the tissue box nearby as you follow Joseph and Evelyn's love story. Amy Neff expertly navigates their struggles and shares their story through memories each has of their decades old relationship.

Evelyn and Joseph have been together since their teen years. Now that Evelyn has Parkinson's, they decide to call their children together to let them know of their plans. They are giving themselves one year to say goodbye and then plan on killing themselves together. Evelyn does not want to be compromised by her Parkinson's and Joseph does not want to live without her. This is a beautiful book about loving. No matter how hard you try, true love has its ups and downs. I thought it was interesting how the grown children took to the news and their struggles to come to grips. Each child was so different. I liked how the book revisited the children growing up and how Evelyn and Joseph had to be patient as their children struggled to adulthood. Wonderful characters and story!

I have mixed feelings about this tale. I love my husband deeply and the thought of spending even one day without him brings pain. But I do not believe life is ours to take. I love the idea of fulfilling their dreams together but again life is not ours to take. We must search for hope even in times of sorrow
