Part of an ongoing series but peppy enough to read as a standalone, The Missing Witness continues the fast-paced, never still for a moment Kara and Matt mystery-solving sagas. Another great book from Allison Brennan!
Thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for the opportunity to read this ARC.
A fast read and a good story. Well written and a great escape for a lazy weekend curled up on the couch. Allison never disappoints
This book roped me in from the very first few pages! It does have several point of views which can be confusing, as well as the backstory with Quinn and Costa, but once you get into the flow of it its very hard to put down! I definitely recommend reading the books in the series prior to this book as it's going to make alot more sense. You could read it as a stand alone, but you'll get more out of it if you have the full picture!
The Missing Witness was a fast paced murder mystery/police drama that had endless twists and turns and kept you hooked from the beginning! I really enjoyed Brennan’s writing style and how she described each character, their relationships, and their overall thoughts and feelings throughout the story. This book is apart of a series, and not once did I feel lost because I haven’t read the other books!
One of my favorite parts of this novel was watching the wheels turn in Detective Quinn’s mind as she begins to solve the mystery. Throughout this story, I felt like I was in a spider web; there were quite a few names, characters, and a lot of other moving parts. At times I had to reread a few pages because there were details I might have missed! I definitely did not see the ending coming! This was a great read from Allison Brennan and I definitely recommend this book!
Thank you to Netgalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
The Missing Witness by Allison Brennan The characters were well-rounded, likable, and believable. As their relationship progresses, Kara and Matt's chemistry is wonderful. The story is fast-paced with numerous viewpoints and many twists and turns. Reading about the homeless and how those in positions of authority handle financial resources in a fraudulent manner was disconcerting. Very good addition to the series.
Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.
The Missing Witness is the fifth book in the Quinn and Costa series, and they are all five star reads! LAPD Detective Kate Quinn is brought back to LA to testify against a corrupt businessman known for human trafficking who is then gunned down right near the courthouse. In a parallel storyline, a whistleblower helping the homeless who witnessed the shooting disappears. It is clear that corruption is rampant in the city government, with the wrong people making all the money instead of the grants going towards the homeless. In addition, someone in the police or FBI is going after Kara. Strong willed and independent, she only trusts Special Agent Matt Costa. There are a strong set of well defined characters in this fascinating book. Allison Brennan did a phenomenal job researching, explaining and detailing the homeless crisis. I highly recommend this book. With many thanks to Netgalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for this ARC. My opinions are my own. @AllisonBrennan
This book is part of a series featuring Kara and Matt as the two detectives that solve crimes together.
This time a witness that is very much needed to put a sex trafficker away. With her missing, other people's lives are endangered. The DDA is stabbed and getting these people put away becomes more and more crucial.
The bond between Kara and Matt also grows stronger as this story tests their abilities
Brennan writes intrigue and mystery totally. The characters come alive on the pages and are so realistic. The story moves quickly, even with the various avenues of what is happening to whom. Danger and murder. Family and friends. His talented writer has written a page turner. I could not guess the ending easily…secrets and red herrings… Thanks to Netgalley.
I devoured this book. It was eye opening to read about the homeless and how people in power are unscrupulous in their handling of monetary resources for them. This story had a lot of twists and turns. Quinn grew a lot in this book. I really loved this book. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
The story flowed well and the characters were well developed. I recommend this book and look forward to more from this author.

I have read all the Quinn and Costa series.
This was an awesome read. The back story was interesting and informative and fit well with the reason for Kara and Matt to be in LA. All the characters in this series are likeable and the chemistry between Kara and Matt is incredible as it continues to develop
Allison Brennan can do no wrong and you won’t convince me otherwise. Every novel she writes leaves me feeling like I’ve been played and I love the unexpected endings in her books!
