What a great insight to one of the most popular guitar factor, for someone who doesn't really plays the instrument but always admiring how the sounds came out of it, it's really been a long journey and I'm amazed by the dedication.

I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for giving me an advance copy of this book.

The book is a beautiful and informative source for all things Fender. There is definitely a history and story to follow which is very interesting, specially for Fender guitar aficionados, but I think what really makes the book are the many colorful illustrations. It shows the story of Fender and it's many innovations and design variations in all their glory.

I would say this is most definitely a must have for musicians, guitar lovers and in particular Fender fans!

Fender is an iconic brand. Pioneers of electric instruments, Fender were in the right place at the right time with the right ideas to leave an indelible mark on the music scene.

"Fender" is the story of the electric instrument company - both the highs and lows - from Leo Fender's first PA equipment for hire through the development of the iconic guitars, basses and amps we know and love today. I learned so much about the company and the development of their instruments.

Filled with glossy photos, advertisements, blueprints, correspondence and anecdotes the together with the comprehensive history of the company, this book would make a fantastic gift for any Fender fan.

~ Many thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review~

This is a lovely history of the Fender brand and the history of these famous musical instruments. Including incredible images, it details the company's early beginnings to the musicians who have used the brand's guitars. It's an incredible illustrated official history of an icon of pop culture.

The encyclopedia of one of the most famous guitars and amplifiers in music today .

I originally chose this book because of my husband ‘s love of guitars, however, once I started to read about the origins of Fender and the various artists who have chosen this brand I just was intrigued.

This would be a great gift for the music person in your life .

I just reviewed Fender by Dave Hunter. #Fender #NetGalley

This is your standard potted history of the iconic Fender guitar and amplifier brand. Short, well written articles with expert opinion combined with great photography and illustrations make this the perfect holiday gift for the six (or four) string fanatic in your family.

I originally grabbed a copy of this for my husband and teens, since they all play, and for myself being a lifelong fan of music. We all enjoyed this one.

I had to chuckle a little at seeing the photo of Bruce Springsteen - there’s certainly nothing wrong with Bruce, and he plays and writes wonderfully, but growing up, I lived in New Jersey and had always heard of Bruce and the E Street Band. However, I always thought that their success was a tri-state area type of thing, not nationwide, let alone global. I used to babysit for Max’s then young children in the 90’s and answered the ringing house line one day and hearing Bruce’s recognizable husky voice on the other end and I thought, oh right, it’s the singer of that local band. I was completely unaware of their massive success for a painfully long time - I was married and my husband informed me of my error - we had gone out for dinner due to massive pregnancy cravings when we still lived in Monmouth county, NJ, and had just left the Red Bank restaurant when we walked past Bruce and I said, “oh, it’s that guy” and my husband said “Bruce Springsteen?” and I responded with a yes, and that’s when he explained it. Sigh… but in my defense, it was very possible at that time to be an extremely successful Jersey shore band.

A divine coffee table book. Packed full of history and vivid photos, Fender: The Official Illustrated History is perfect for music lovers, and guitarists alike. This would make an excellent gift - for others or yourself.

Thank you to Motorbooks and NetGalley for the temporary PDF

“If you uttered the phrase 'electric guitar' … people within earshot would immediately have pictured a Fender.”

With this powerful, evocative and true statement (Teles and Strats being the epitome of what a 'Guitar' should look like) starts a great look at the history and innovation of the Fender brand.

Packed with great photos, historical advertisements and (my favourite part) patent drawings all tied together with a really nice design style this book would make a great read for fans of both Fender itself, and musical instruments in general.

I'd love to see a set of these books looking at all the great guitar and amp manufacturers, would make for a fantastic set.

As a passionate guitar player I loved this deep dive into the history of fender.
The book shows the beginnings of the brand’s journey as well as the many ups and downs along the way. It’s beautifully illustrated with sketches, original advertisement photo material as well as new and unseen photos.
I loved seeing some of my favorite guitars displayed and their mechanics explained.
In the end, the book gives an outlook on what’s to come and the visions fender has. I’m very excited to see where the brand is going.
