The way this author goes on about how no one talks about obesity being a symptom of inflammation felt like a book from years ago. I feel like most people interested in this topic are at least somewhat familiar with the various problems of inflammation in the body by now. Getting past that, this straightforward information is appreciated, and I like his examples of how easy it is to include 30 different plants into our diets each week. That number can seem a bit intimidating as you consider a lifestyle change. I'm confused by how much he touts dairy and specifically whey protein because that can be inflammatory for a lot of people and seems contradictory to his overall message. Also, this book feels like very little substance for its length.

While this was a new way of looking at obesity through the microbiome of the gut, this book offered information that isn't new, at least to me. Eat a food plan that is filled with variety and not just the same thing every single day. This focuses on our gut and the organisms living in us. How inflammation occurs when our gut is out of alignment.
For someone who doesn't have the benefit of a background that includes knowledge in food science, this book is extremely useful.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was a great book. I've read a lot of books on this subject, but this book still contained new information that I haven't read before. And it includes some delicious recipes!

It's not often that I read diet books but this one captured me from the beginning as I wouldn't call it a complete diet boot as much as an educational tool. I learned a lot about gut health and biomes and inflammation and have already put a few things to practice. I really like that there were recipes included as I am always looking for new ideas. The lentil soup recipe is outstanding!

"The Full-Body Fat Fix" by Stephen Perrine offers a simple and effective way to improve your health, fitness and well-being through a science-based 7-day plan to cool inflammation, heal your gut, and build a healthier, leaner body

The author explains how chronic inflammation and an unhealthy microbiome are the root causes of many health problems and weight gain, and how eating a variety of plant-based foods can help restore balance and harmony in your body. The book provides easy-to-follow protocols, recipes, and practical tips to help you achieve this.

I tried the 7-day program (and continued with the habits for the rest of Januar adding back in more whole grains) and I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to follow. I had a protein smoothie for breakfast, eliminated sweets, ate 30 different whole plants, had one whole grain serving a day, and exercised 3 times a week. I felt lighter, had a flatter midsection, and stopped craving sugar. It was the perfect way to start the new year after indulging during the holidays.

The book is not without a few limitations, though. There are no photos of the recipes, which would have been helpful to visualize the dishes. The eating-out suggestions are mostly centred on American chains, which might not be available or appealing to everyone. And if you are expecting a dramatic weight loss in a short time, you might be disappointed. The book is more about improving your health and wellness than losing weight quickly. The title is a bit misleading and sensational, as it promises a quick fix that might not be realistic or sustainable.

That said, I would still recommend this book to anyone who wants to reset their diet and eat more plant-based. It is an informative and engaging read, showing you how to make simple changes that can have a big impact on your health and happiness. It is not a diet, but a lifestyle. And it is one that I plan to continue beyond the 7 days.

This was an ARC review for NetGalley.

This book has a wealth of science backed information on how to reduce inflammation from foods in your diet. I loved the research and facts shared with a simple 7 day approach to get you on the road to healthier living. It’s the kind of book you will keep referencing as you incorporate the strategies into your lifestyle. My only recommendation would be more handy tracking tools or checklists to help you get started.

I was interested in reading this book, which claims to help fight fat, and in turn, help with inflammation. I suffer from several inflammation-related problems, most notably. Rheumatoid Arthritis, so I was hoping to learn some things that might help me.

I haven't tried any of the recommendations in the book yet, but will. It was easy to read and everything the book contained made complete sense to me.

With so many “fad” diets out there it is very refreshing to see something that is mainly based in eating more plants. It is pretty well known that we all need to eat more fruits and vegetables but this give you some good guidelines on how.
I am looking forward to putting some of these ideas into practice. I like that they do not stress eliminating food groups just eating all the right stuff.

This book gives good advice on how to fight fat. It's really nothing we haven't heard before, but straightforward nutritional advice is always welcome. The author's main focus is that everyone should incorporate 30 different plant-based items into our diets every week. It's especially important to introduce new options in order to increase our "gut microbiomes" (microbes that live in the large intestine). By concentrating on increasing the number and health of these microbiomes, we can reduce fat and ward off health-related problems such as obesity and other diseases. The book recommends a 7-Day Challenge of getting rid of sugar and incorporating more plants-based foods in order to jump start your microbiomes. He also makes a strong case for eliminating things such as vitamin pills and supplements and getting your nutrients from foods instead. There are recipes and exercises included. Later in the book he gives recommendations for continuing a healthier diet, including options to order when eating out.

I did enjoy the recommendations for improving your diet and the included recipes. However, this book did the thing that really annoys me with so many advice/self-help books. It begins with a seemingly never-ending litany of "once you know the secrets," and "by following these amazing plans," and "after learning the simple steps," etc. that really, really make me want to throw the book across the room and, more often than not, cause me to stop reading the book before I ever get to the "amazing secrets." Honestly, can we just get to it? I really don't need all the big promises at the front to wade through -- I got the gist from the title! (rant over)

You know those college textbooks that you studied, highlighted, underlined, and made flashcards for? This book is full of the kind of information that you want to do just that to its pages.

I love lists and for the 7-Day challenge, the author has a handy list of power plants to eat during the challenge, with a goal of having at least 30 of them in one week. Going to a restaurant? There are recommended dishes that tend to be healthier options listed here. There are also recipes, exercises, and much more. Diets may be hard to stick to, but we can all try a 7-day plan to build a healthier body.

A completely new (to me) way at looking at obesity as a symptom of inflammation. Offers a very doable program to heal inflammation and see the weight melt away. The delicious recipes themselves are worth the price of admission. Highly recommended!
