Thank you Forever (GCP) for the ARC!

I’m a big Hannah Brown fan so I was so excited when I saw she wrote a contemporary romance! And even more thrilled when I received this ARC- thank you!!

This story was full of everything I would’ve expected from a former bachelorette- drama, tension, romance and adventure. I really loved Finn!

My hang up is always the cheating trope, it’s just not my fav. So while I wanted to love this one with all my heart, that’s a hard one for me to get past. These two just had so many wrong timing moments and it worked against them. Of course there’s a HEA but it was a bit of a struggle to get there.

I’d still love to see what HB writes next!

3.5 rounding up to 4

When I saw that this book was written by one of my favorite bachelorette, I immediately had to read it! This book can be summarized a ‘right person, wrong time' scenario with Emma and Finn being friends since high school and experiencing a series of relationship false starts, and it all comes to a head when they are forced on a road trip to find a runaway bride.

I wish we could've avoided the cheating trope since it felt like it could've been resolved before getting to that point but I did like the dual timeline and forced proximity that came from the road trip.

I liked where the book started off, but then it kind of started falling short. I think I don’t really love the FMC that much, and it’s making me annoyed reading her pov. So for now, it’s a soft dnf with hopes to come back in the future!!!!!!!!!!

When I picked Mistakes We Never Made, I did not realize that Hannah Brown was an actress and pretty famous(I don’t watch much tv) . I’m one of those people that are swayed by a beautiful cover.

So while I did pick the book by the cover, I do have to say I’m pretty impressed by her debut novel. It had drama, love, heartache, secrets, and friendship. It was overall a great book. I look forward to reading her next book and all the books after that.

Thanks to NetGalley and Forever publishing for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

I went into this and thought it was something different. It was pretty good, but some parts I just couldn’t get with. It does have cheating trope (between the main characters, which I don’t like) and it seemed so unnecessary. I loved Finn and felt he didn’t deserve it. The book overall had some great tropes I like and I felt Emma and Finn were a good match, they just couldn’t get their timing together. The ending was super sweet and I always love a happily ever after.

I like Hannah Brown, but this book wasn't for me. I DNF'd it at 19%. The writing felt very one dimensional. I wasn't connecting with any of the characters at this point and decided to move on.

Well that was one binge-able book! One I picked it up, I couldn’t put it down.

Finn and Emma have know each other since high school, but when they’re forced back into the same location for their mutual friend’s wedding, Emma plans to avoid him like the plague. Seems easy enough, that is until the bride goes missing two days before the ceremony, and Emma and Finn are tasked with tracking her down. This begins the roadtrip of a lifetime. Two days and a lot of miles gives them some time to confront all of the hot and heavy moments from their past, along with all of the “almost” moments that ripped them apart all those years ago.

This book had sooo much miscommunication, and while that’s normally a deal breaker for me, it just made me more intrigued in the story. During the present timeline, we also get glimpses back to the past and all of the “almost” and “what if” moments between them, and I really enjoyed the back and forth. The book felt really fast paced with zero lulls through out. Yes, the characters were flawed and infuriating at times, but I actually appreciated how real they were. It wasn’t some perfect fluffy fairytale, and I think that made me like it more.

Congrats to Hannah on her first contemporary romance, and thank you for allowing me the chance to read an ARC

Mistakes We Never Made was filled with flirtatious summer fun and had me goofy grinning throughout the whole book! The chemistry and tension between the characters was palpable and each chapter had me dying to see if they would finally get together. The father daughter relationship really resonated with me as well and it was inspiring to see Emma working through it. This was a great wrong time/right person story, and I cannot wait to see what Hannah Brown writes next!

I really enjoyed the first half of this. The banter and adventures were fun and learning the history of Emma and Finn provided a lot of insight.
The second half though, felt rushed. There was a lot of back and forth and the pacing was so off. While I still enjoyed it as a whole, the second half of the book was a real struggle for me.

Two lifelong rivals set out on a coastal road trip to find their friend and runaway bride before the upcoming nuptials. Emma and Finn, two former high schools debate teammates and almost lovers are stuck travelling the west coast together in an effort to save their friend’s marriage. The two former friends must set aside their shared mistakes, but being so close together stirs up past heartbreak and also brings to light potential romantic feelings. This debut romance novel by Bachelorette star and New York Times bestselling author, Hannah Brown is one you’ll want to add to your summer reading.

Thank you SO much to Forever Books for the ARC!

I love Hannah Brown and even read her non-fiction book and loved it, but am sad that this one was really hard for me to enjoy. The writing itself was hard for me as well and I'm curious how much was written by Hannah vs the other author that was credited as well.

It just seemed too immature and unlike Hannah in my opinion.

I hope this will be a huge success for her even though it wasn't for me!

Hannah Brown was one of my favorite bachelorettes so when I saw that she wrote a book, I had to pick it up! I enjoyed the story very much and was invested in the characters! I love the settings this took place in and this felt like a true beach read to me. I can't wait to pick up a physical copy!

I loved Hannah Browns season of The Bachelorette and her personality is so fun so I knew I had to grab this book. 😊 I loved the mystery, I loved the right-person-wrong-time trope, the characters were easy to like and I had a good time.

Hannah Brown steps into the world of contemporary romance with this fun and adventurous new read that will take you through the past and present and make you fall helplessly in love.

Emma will do anything for her friends, and as Maid of Honor in her best friend’s upcoming wedding, she will do whatever it takes to give her the best day possible. But when the bride suddenly runs away, Emma must rely on the one person who gets under her skin the most and seems to never leave her brewing, conflicting emotions at peace—her almost everything, Finn—to help her find her friend and put the pieces of this misunderstanding back together for a picture perfect wedding.

I adore Hannah Brown and was so excited to read a romance from her! It had charm, wit, an element of fun, and humor that just hooked me. It also had a good blend of banter, chemistry, and cute dynamics to create a lighthearted rom-com to be swept away in.

3.5/5

This was a three and a half star read for me throughout the first half but I’m bumping it up to four stars. The last half of the book is what solidified it as a four star read.

The first half of the novel had more flashbacks than anything else, making it nearly impossible for me to connect with the story and characters. Every conversation or new scene flashed Emma (female main character) back to high school or college. I’m assuming flashbacks were used to provide background information about her relationship with Finn (male main character) but squeezing them all into the first half of the book took away from what was supposed to be the current timeline of the book - Emma and Finn taking off to find fleeing bride, Sybl. If you put together all of the “current” timeline events together, they may have equaled somewhere around 15 pages?

The most touching part of the novel was Emma reaching out to her dad. I felt the most connected with Emma during that section but I had to wait about 20 chapters to get there. This is when the story truly started to become heartfelt and touching, bumping up the original three stars.

This book is available now so run to get a copy to check out!

I wanted to love this book, but it just wasn't a hit for me. I experienced a rollercoaster of engagement and interest in the story. While there were portions that had me excited or swoony, I felt like some of the writing wasn't quite my style, and the tropes got to me in this one.

I was a fan of Hannah’s on The Bachelorette, so I was intrigued when I saw she wrote a novel. I wasn’t sure what to expect about her writing skills though, so I’ll admit I went in with pretty minimal expectations. (Sorry, Hannah!) I was pleasantly surprised, however, with how much I enjoyed this book!

I won’t say this was anything earth-shattering, but it was a solid romance and a fun beachy summery read. I really did care for both main characters and was rooting for them. I liked the way the story alternated between a current timeline taking place over just a few days and flashbacks of the past years of their relationship. I also found the writing humorous and heartfelt. I also loved the little Easter eggs to Hannah’s time on The Bachelor series. ☺️

If you’re looking for a breezy and fun romance to binge this summer, I’d definitely recommend picking this one up!
