There is huge small town drama, gangs, a spoiled princess and 3 men

Reverse harem

somehow the whole story drags on quite a bit and there are 4 parts

a lot of sexual stuff
Have fun reading it yourself!

This was great. I’m looking forward to checking out other books in the series. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I enjoyed this story immensely. Trying to unravel the twist while attempting to remain impartial to certain characters was a battle on my part, but worth it in the end. At times this balanced on the edge of how much "bully" romance I can handle, but since I have a low threshold regarding that trope it was understandable. In the end it was a great start of what is an even more amazing series.

This was not my cup of tea.
I was really invested in the very beginning of this book. It opens with our FMC, Madison Kate, and her friend Bree at an illegal fighting ring. Madison dragged Bree there to see a fighter she was interested in. This is when all hell breaks loose, and a gun fires. There is chaos and destruction. This is later referred to as "riot night." Fighting for her life, Madison finds herself being hunted down by very dangerous people. In her panic to get away from them, three men help save her life. Little did she know that their aid would lead to her being accused of orchestrating the violence that ensued that night. She is arrested that night and is forced to stand trial. She's eventually found innocent, but not before the entire city places blame on her. To escape this ridicule, she goes to live with her aunt in Cambodia. After her aunt's death, she comes back home to find that the three men who are the reason she was arrested are living in her father's mansion. Turns out they were hired to keep her safe. And now she has to live with the people she hates most in the world.

What I liked:
- The premise of the book.
- How badass the guys are.
- The smut,
- The nicknames they use for each other.

What I didn't like:
- How they called her Madison Kate instead of just Madison or MK. It sounds juvenile.
- The miscommunication.
- How whiney Madison Kate is.
- The fact that I can hardly differentiate between the male characters because they are all basically the same.
- How hardly anything actually happens after riot night.
- Madison Kate's "pick me girl" energy whenever describing another girl other than Bree.
- Her friendship with Bree. There's hardly any substance there.

Overall, I didn't enjoy this book very much, but I might continue the series because I want to know what happens next. Damn, cliffhangers...

So this is a reread! Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is probably one of my all-time favorite series! I read it for the first time like over two years ago and I reread it at least twice a year. It was also my first why choose romance ever!

So we have MK the FMC who was framed for a crime at the beginning of the book. It becomes clear pretty quickly that everyone knows it wasn't her but that she was the scapegoat. The charges ended up never sticking but she spent three months in county lockup throughout the trial. She thinks at first that the three MMCs set her up because on the night it happened they gave her a jacket that had the evidence in it that incriminated her in the first place.

The first chapter is about MK coming back home after essentially being exiled to Cambodia for a while by her father. When she gets home she finds out that the three guys she thinks got her arrested are living with her. The first half of the book is her trying to get revenge on them while simultaneously developing feelings for them.

During rereads I sometimes cringe at stuff and MK can definitely be dramatic but this is still a top read of mine. She hasn't developed anything with Archer yet and is only really involved physically with Steele in this one. I cannot recommend a series more than this one. It is pretty dark so check TW but happy reading!

When I tell you this book sent me down a Tate James rabbit hole, you need to believe me.
Reverse Harem? Check.
Grumpy/grumpy? check
Piercings? Check
hot fighters? Check
Twists that will keep you coming back for more? Absolutely.

Not only should you absolutely read this, but you should read the rest of the series as well!

This book was so amazing. I loved it! I do wish there was a little more spice, but nonetheless this book was great! Enemies to lovers!

The premise of this book was very interesting, and I kept seeing this book so I was excited to start. This book didn’t really capture my attention, and after making it 20% through I had to DNF. Nothing was wrong with the book itself it was just a slow start and not really catching my attention right now. So no rating.

Oh. My. God. This book was fire. No words can describe how amazing this book is. This might be actually one of my favorite books of all time (and I haven’t read the rest of the series yet).

Hate is full of action, the characters are so likeable that you literally have hard time to choose your favorite. The storyline? Addictive. Had me by the chokehold.

The tension, chemistry, the banter? No other book can succeed that. This was my first time reading Tate James and I’m definitely reading more. The writing style was very good, the urge to continue reading was haunting me right from the moment I woke up. And I wasn’t able to stop thinking about MK and the boys ever since.

This is something to look forward to when diving into this series - dark romance, mafia, reverse harem/why choose.. not my typical cup of tea, but I think Hate changed my mind a little.

Many thanks to Netgalley, Sourcebooks Bloom Books and the author for this ARC. All opinions are my own.

Could not put this down! The story hooks you right from the beginning with a good mystery to solve and so many questions to be answered. The men are distinct individuals who you can relate to and follow their motivations, something not all authors in this genre can achieve. Madison is a little abrasive in the beginning, but you grow to love her as the story goes on and she opens up to her men and to the reader.

I’ll definitely be continuing this series!

I can’t even handle the cliffhanger ending! Things were just getting good! I went into this book with an open mind and I enjoyed it. I didn’t love Madison Kate but I think she has a compelling backstory and a pretty good reason for her attitude. The boys were written to perfection and I can’t wait to see how their relationships develop over the series. And I want to see who this mystery stalker is!

This was a re-read for me! I LOVE this series and Tate James kills it. I love the banter, the character development, and relationship creation throughout. It is a reverse harem, so be aware of trigger warnings. I will re-read this series 100x over lol.

“It was a shame they’d tried to screw me so hard a year ago because I might have just found my soulmates.”

I’d heard so many good things about the MK series prior to reading Hate so I was absolutely thrilled to be jumping on the bandwagon. And it did not disappoint!!!

I absolutely loved MK as a protagonist. She was strong, badass, and all around really likeable, and I enjoyed how she had her own life going on apart from the guys. Speaking of the guys, damn! These men are fineee - what I would give to be in MKs position! I immediately fell in love with Kody the minute he was introduced, and I definitely came to love Steele too - admittedly I’m still warming up to Archer.

I loved how the plot was also prominent, and there wasn’t just an emphasis on the romantic relationships. And the ending of Hate - ahhhh! What a cliffhanger! Thank goodness I had the next one ready to go!

If you haven’t already read the MK series, please go and read it! Keep in mind, it is a reverse harem :)

I think it’s safe to say I’m super late to reading this series. Tate James put something in these pages and I couldn’t get enough! And that cliffhanger ending??

This is one of those books where I feel like you need to go in blind. And, although the character Madison Kate can be a little juvenile at times, there’s just something in the way James writes that kept me hooked and wanting more? This was a page-turner and I need to know what happens next!

What you can expect:
🤨Suspense
🖤a dark, bully romance
🔫Mafia/gang
❤️‍🔥Reverse Harem
🌶️Spice

There are too many triggers to mention, so please check content warnings before picking this up!

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the complimentary e-arc in exchange for an honest review. All opinions in this review are my own.

This is a re-read for me, but I love the new cover! Also it has been so long since I've read these, so I totally forgot the plot. It's like a new story, which is exciting. Can't wait to re-read the next ones.

I just need more. This book literally has you hooked from the beginning. Madison is DEAD? Like you don't end chapter one like that! But at the same time I need more and more of this world

Holy smoking hot sauce! This gritty romance story is not for the faint of heart, but if you like your hero's dirty and a little mean then you'll love the spice that is wrapped into this plot! Madison Kate is framed for a crime she didn't commit and while the charges eventually get dropped, her life is irrevocably changed for the worse. After a year in exile, she comes home to find the three demons who framed her are living in her father's house. Toss in a town of haters, a stalker and the damaged mind of a girl who has been through way more than she should have in her short life and you have an explosive situation just ready to blow. The tropes are heavy here with enemies to lovers being the strongest wrapped in a reverse harem of bad boys in a gritty plot that is action packed and keeps you turning pages as rapidly as you can read them so you can see what happens next. This book is part of a series and a serious cliffhanger is left dangling here so be prepared. No forced or dubious consent activities so that isn't an issue, but plenty of borderline hate smex is definitely on the menu! I am waiting with bated breath to be able to get my hands on the next book in this series! It's starting off hot and on fire, now I want to know how badly the Madison Kate's world is going to be burning.

4.5 stars

Really loved this start to this series. Madison Kate is such a strong heroine. She gets framed for the events that happened on Riot Night and gets sent away for a year. When she comes back, she has to live in her dad’s house with the guys who framed her. I love how the relationships are slowly developing, and I really love the suspense in this as well. The ending had me picking up the second book immediately!!

3.5 stars for this book!

I don’t normally love reverse harems / bully romances so I knew going in this wouldn’t be a 5 star book for me. While reading, the plot was engaging enough I found myself wanting to know what happens next but I also found myself a little bored too. I didn’t connect to Madison Kate as much as I had hoped. Her “plots” she came up with felt a little too young for her age along with the fact the hate was one sided and it felt to me, that it blinded her a little too much.

The writing was amazing! I have heard that if you didn’t connect well with Madison Kate series you will likely connect with her Hades’ series more. So I think I will read the first book in her other series to determine if I will continue the MKD series! I don’t know if this plot is for me but I will be reading more by this author in the future!

Not gonna lie, when I sent a request for this book a few weeks ago on NetGalley for the new edition, I did not think I would get approved, yet here I am. I love Tate James, and I will read anything she writes. I love MK and her boys, and getting an approval for this e-arc was such a good excuse to reread this series. Trust me when I say its PHENOMENAL! There is just the right amount of tension, delicious "I shouldn't do this because I hate you, but I'm attracted to you" smut scenes, and mystery in the plot that keeps you begging for more. This is such an easy series to binge, that goes to all of Tate's books imo, and thankfully all of these books are already out in the world so the cliffhangers won't be leaving anyone miserable for too long. This series is just *chef's kiss*!

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for an advanced reader's copy in exchange for my honest review.
