It explains how to draw quite creatures in a very simple way, I definitely try to draw someone.

At first glance I thought all the lessons looked the same. I felt like I was looking at a collection of furry Pokemon. However, on closer inspection, the book provides great tutorials on how to draw a range of mythical creatures from across the globe.

I like how they are broken down into four categories to focus on either land, air, sea, or night creatures. I also like how Lord provides a brief overview of each creature giving the reader/artist an idea as to what is the main thing that sets each creature apart from each other.

The book starts with a quick lesson on how best to colour your characters to give them a 3D spell. It seemed a little premature until you get started with actually drawing the creatures because it also makes you think about other items you might want to draw, especially light sources.

The absolute best feature of this book is that it is unassuming about the type of artist you are. Lessons are taught in a way that freehand drawers can appreciate. Equally, it explains the steps required for artists using computer software. I think I'm going to enjoy practicing because as someone that can't draw for toffees, I have actually created a couple of cute sketches.

Cute Creature Art Class by Naomi Lord is a delightful experience that combines artistic guidance with adorable subjects. Naomi's teaching style is engaging, making the process enjoyable for artists of all levels. The class offers a wonderful opportunity to bring charming creatures to life on canvas. Highly recommended for those seeking a blend of creativity and cuteness!

This book is totally adorable. There are a ton of creatures to choose from and I love the simplicity and double page layout to properly see the step by step instructions. Although more geared towards beginners, advanced artists might find a lot of inspiration in creating their own creatures. I especially loved the bonus chapter, where the artist mashed up other animals to make her own magical creatures. Coloring is mentioned briefly, but not in depth, so be aware that it's more of a follow exactly step by step/copy reference book.

I've been following Naomi Lord on Instagram for forever now so as soon as I saw this I had to get it. Naomi is such a talented artist and it truly is amazing to get to learn from the best.

The techniques throughout this guide go step by step and are perfect for any novel, or practiced, artist to follow along with. The art itself and colors throughout are absolutely gorgeous. This can be used for both physical and digital drawing.

I can't wait to try these techniques out in procreate on my iPad!

This fun guide to drawing cute anime creatures is a blast! The instructions are easy and the results are adorable. A great gift for young artists and artists still young at heart!

When I tell you, I saw the cover of this book and RAN! The cover ALONE sold me then when I opened it up and realized this was something I could do and it's fantasy creatures?? Oh, I am in love! This was a simple step by step kawaii creatures drawing book. I used my iPad to make it easier but never have I thought about drawing until this book. I 100% adore and can't wait to use this book more. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher/author for early access to this book. I will definitely be buying next month.

The illustrations are charming and very easy to reproduce. What's more, all the illustrations can be used as the basis for variations that are easy to manipulate.

Love love LOVE this drawing guidebook! My teen and I love fantasy and mythical creatures and this was a delight to explore together! We are excited to draw everything in here and our only issue is what to draw next! Each creature is adorable (even the creepy creatures!) and the directions are so clear and easy to follow. While I'm not personally a huge fan of anime in general, the creatures in this drawing book are really cute. I do enjoy reading fantasy and also enjoy drawing and painting. This book gives great step-by-step instructions for how to create over 50 magical beings. There are many of the creatures that I am unfamiliar with, so I especially like the way the book is structured. The book begins with an introduction to anime and tools needed to complete the drawings. Then, it has a key of all of the fantasy creatures that can be created using the book. The remainder of the book is divided into sections for various types of creatures based on body strucure and dwelling. The sections included are: Land Walkers, Air Gliders, Sea Splashers, Night Dwellers, and a final Bonus section of Mythical Combos. With all of the specific instructions for various body structures (hooves, wings, scales, etc), it allows for creativity in designing your own magical creatures. I will recommend this book to some students I know who are into art and anime as I know they will love it. I'm excited to keep creating creatures of my own.

A lovely and detailed art reference book! The designs are cute, as promised, and very satisfying to draw.

There are also some drawing and colouring tips, as well as info on the creatures and the folklore they originate from (Aztec, Japanese, Greek, Scottish...).

I recommend this to people of all ages who enjoy mythological creatures and this cute art style. Perfect for a cosy winter afternoon!

In this cute and simple art “class”, Naomi Lord shows us how we can not only replicate creatures in her defining art style, but this book also gives readers opportunities to mix up the creatures into some of their own! Naomi Lord starts by offering essential tips, tools, and techniques for drawing and coloring. Then, a Creature Key introduces the mystical beings you'll learn to draw in the art class. From the information, advice, and explanation aspect, she does an exceptional job! Not only does she explain thoroughly, it also makes readers anticipate what’s yet to come. The only thing that lacked, at least in my opinion, is an outro or conclusion.

From the aesthetics level, this book is filled with little decorations here and there, and creature type dividers that are more than eye-pleasing. Plus, each section of creatures are all color coded and themed, going from simple to more complex. The fonts are also well-chosen and match the theme. All making readers sink into the world of chibi, meaning “small and cute” from Japanese, as per Naomi.

There are mostly around forty to eighteen steps for simple creatures, but up to twenty six steps for more complex creatures like mermaids. It’s also extremely accessible, and can be created digitally or traditionally. More information is waiting for you in the book!

I’m never too much of an artist, but now I can’t wait to try this out when I have time. It’s for anyone old enough to draw, and whether you want to enhance your art skills, or just take a break, this is for you!

This was a fun and easy book where you can draw along with it. You can get to know how to create cute Chibi characters from scratch. I think it’s really generally an introductory book if you have been drawing for awhile or you have been in the anime cartoon or Chibi verse, this isn’t something that may help you in. Might give you some idea. Spokesman intrigue but it’s not gonna help you very often this is for beginners only, but it does have a lot of good concepts and ideas and theories. I just get your imagination going

What a cute drawing book! It's got a variety of creatures to pick from, the style is very distinctive and the directions are very straight forward. Plenty of variety and I liked all of the different poses that the creatures had.

I have an 11 year old niece who likes to draw and she was who I had in mind when I requested an ARC for this book. The directions are clear to follow and the characters are so cute! Each creature gets a little blurb and I love that.

This book is full of adorable creatures of all kinds, including some really pretty humanoids! The step-by-step instructions are broken down in a way that's super easy to follow. I really liked that the tutorials ranged in difficulty with some only having a few steps whereas some of the more details drawings were a little more advanced.
Another thing I loved was in the intro section where each creature had a short description. The bonus creatures at the end of the book were also such a nice addition!

Love the key page, it was really neat to see all of the creatures together as a table of contents. The art is beyond my ability without a lot of practice, but the instructions seem easy to follow.
