I am a self-admitted book worm, and I have been the majority of my life. Here lately, I gravitate towards suspenseful books. I admit that while I don’t really read much mystery, I was really excited to get a chance to read this book. “Pride and Prejudice” was one of my favorite books growing up. I read a “continuation” book by another author years ago, which I loved. I was very intrigued by the concept of this book.

Pros: Although this book is Part #3 of the series, I was still able to enjoy the book as a standalone.

Cons: I want more!!!

I can honestly say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I enjoyed trying to figure the mystery out with the lead characters. I do enjoy books where you can feel sympathy for the “villain.” While I do feel like the escalation was drastic, once all was revealed I felt a bit sorry for them. Ultimately, I definitely recommend this book if you are looking for something different that holds your attention, and also if you are a fan of “Pride and Prejudice.”

This cozy mystery was just what it needed to be! It captures Austen’s style and world spectacularly, and the mystery was cozy and gentle. While slow-moving at times, the lingering pace with the familiar and new characters made for a pleasant read even for one unfamiliar with the previous books in the series.

I really enjoy Ms. Grays take on Jane Austen’s world and I especially like Ms. Tilney and young Mr. Darcy’s blossoming friendship as they solve mysteries together. These books feel like a natural inclusion to the regency era we know and love, and I would highly recommend the series on that score. The cliffhanger has been the same all three books and it is MURDERING me but here’s hoping book 4 will grant us a blessed reprieve.

This is the third book in the Mr. Darcy & Miss Tilney cozy mystery series—my favorite in fluffy reading. The premise of the series brings all of Austen’s characters into the same world and then has the children of Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy and Catherine Morland and Henry Tilney solve murders. It is utterly ridiculous and so much fun. Claudia Gray writes great Austen pastiche with a well-done, but not overdone mimicked style and an astute insight into Austen’s characters. One of my favorite components of each book is the issues she imagines might arise in the marriages of various Austen couples. In this particular book, Miss Tilney and Mr. Darcy are summoned by Lady Catherine de Bourgh because someone is attempting to take her life. While a little long, it’s a fun ride and I’m just so glad that Gray is keeping up with the series. These books are best read in order as the novels very much build on each other.

The Perils of Lady Catherine de Bourgh is the third book in the delightful Mr. Darcy & Miss Tilney series. This time, the mystery is the strongest element of the story: multiple attempts have been made on Lady Catherine’s life and she has summoned Mr. Jonathan Darcy and Miss Tilney to find out who the villain is.

Both the list of suspects and the number of clues are limited. A year apart has created a slight restraint between Mr. Darcy and Miss Tilney, increased by the open dislike between their fathers. And something very odd indeed is going on with the Collins family; what are they trying so hard to hide?

Lady Catherine’s perils (and her reaction to them) were entertaining, but I found that this book was more melancholy and reflective than the first two, lacking the lightheartedness that has been a hallmark of the series so far. I didn’t think it was a bad thing; it’s just something to note going in.

My one real problem with this book- and I deeply hope it will be edited out after feedback from early readers- is that an omniscient, anonymous ‘observer’ of sorts periodically appears throughout the text to address the reader with wildly patronizing information dumps and opinions. The ARC I received specifically asked readers not to publish quotes yet because the proofs were uncorrected, so I can’t give examples. But those sections need to be taken out immediately. They were pointless, supplying no unknown information or insights into the characters that weren’t blindingly obvious, and the tone was cloyingly precious. Less telling, more showing, please.

Otherwise, this was an interesting installment of the Darcy/Tilney series. I rate it 4 stars and recommend it to fans of gentle mysteries and of all things Jane Austen-adjacent.

Weaker than the first two books in the series, but with an enjoyable resolution. The book has plenty of red herrings.

I love this series. It's such fun to be immersed in a world with characters your so familiar with, yet to see them in a different light. Very much looking forward to the next in this series!

I'm a sucker for a Jane Austen retelling and this series takes that a step further. I love being emerged in familiar characters and watch them as they grow. Very much looking forward to the next iteration!

This was absolutely delightful. The plot was well-paced and captivating from start to finish. The characters were charming and witty. I highly recommend this fun and quick read! Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the advanced copy of the book.

Claudia Gray is one of the best Jane Austen sequence writers I've read. This is the third book in a series about the young Mr. Darcy and Miss Tilney solving mysteries. The books are moving across Jane Austen's books, and this time they are back in Pride & Prejudice when Lady Catherine de Bourgh need their help. The great lady is as insufferable as always, and the description of Mr. Collins does not disappoint either.
As always the mystery is not the main purpose of this book, but the opportunity to revisit the great novel and Austen's beloved characters.

Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read and review this ARC.

summary: Mr. Darcy and Miss Tilney mysteries book three; someone keeps trying to kill Lady Catherine de Bourgh—Johnathan Darcy and Juliet Tilney are there to solve the mystery and be painfully awkward with each other

thoughts: there’s ANOTHER book after this one???? good grief but also i will gobble it up. so.

anyway!!!!! this had weird stakes just because they weren’t solving a murder, they’re preventing one and that’s just different vibes––like, less dramatic somehow, even though it’s Catherine de Bourgh aka one of the most dramatic characters in literary history. also there’s this painful miscommunication that’s stopping the MCs from, like, getting together.

however!!!!!! i looooved Claudia Gray’s characterization of Henry Tilney and the Henry Tilney/Fitzwilliam Darcy dynamic. so so so funny—everything I’ve ever wanted, and there’s also a lot of great humor with Mr. Collins. like for all that this was slow and a little boring, i was also giggling out loud.

This was a great continuation of the series. The romance was very much a slow burn. But I enjoyed it!

Claudia Gray captures my heart again!! Back in this Austen world, Mr. Darcy and Miss Tilney are called to Lady Catherine de Bourgh's home to investigate the many attempts on her life. As you might guess, Lady Catherine is having none of it, thank you very much, and the two young sleuths are back on the case looking for the would be murderer, with both their fathers in tow.

I really do love a good Regency mystery and this series has always been right up my alley. With the hint of romance, it is quite perfection. Younger Mr. Darcy is adorable, and his struggles fitting the mold of society gives his character some unexpected depth in comparison to other novels in the genre. My only regret for this instalment of the series is there was not enough Jonathan + Juliet! The slow burn is now a bit too slow, and was almost non-existent in this book. The miscommunication issue from the previous book does not really resolve itself until almost the end. Instead I think we could have had that resolved in the first half and advanced the romance plot a bit more, even if it also didn't end up with them completely together.

I always appreciate Elizabeth Darcy popping up, and was so pleased to see her again. I am hoping the next novel will have both moms. Maybe we need a Mrs. Bennet too to get this romance on the road! Can't wait!

Jonathan and Juliet have another mystery on their hands. At least this time, no one had died... yet. The duo finds themselves at the elistrious Rosings Park with a new cast of characters drawing from the origin Pride and Prejudice. I liked seeing some old favorites get their happy endings but was not surprised not everyone was happy with where their lives ended up.

The dads make an appearance with good intentions (in their minds). We finally have the kids communicating openly about their feelings, but of course, "pride and prejudice" make an appearance to ruin everything. I know Jonathan and Juliet will end up together, but I would like to see some progress in their courting... like them actually getting to court. I will be disappointed if they are thwarted again in the fourth installment because, at this point, it is starting to get repetitive.

My absolute favorite part was a lifesaving piggyback ride by an unlikely pair.

Overall, I really enjoyed it and will continue with the series. Thank you, Netgalley, for the ARC. The Perils of Lady Catherinr deBourgh is out June 18th.

In this third installment, author Claudia Gray offers a thrilling reunion between Mr. Johnathan Darcy and Miss Julia Tinley as they work to uncover the mysterious attempts on Lady Catherine de Bourgh's life. Gray's writing style and humor continue to be one of the highlights of this narrative, as her work mirrors the brilliance of Jane Austen. Having read the previous two books, though, I thought the mystery in this book fell short. I found there to be fewer clues and much more meetings between Darcy and Tilney where not much was relieved. The slow pace of the romance - three books and the two have yet to state a fondness to one another - makes the book feel stretched out too long. I will of course look forward to the fourth book, but hope to see some of these changes implemented.

This series gets better with each passing addition. It keeps readers guessing at every page turn.

When I read the plot of someone attempting to harm Lady Catherine de Bourgh my first thought was "Who wouldn't want to?" Anyone familiar with Pride and Prejudice knows Lady Catherine is demanding. And that's putting it nicely. When she speaks everyone should listen. When she advises she is actually telling you what to do. And she does not argue. You do what she says. It was only a matter of time until someone got fed up with it.

That's what this third book is about. Someone has said enough is enough to following Lady Catherine's will. Hearing of the success in catching murderers in the past she sends for her nephew Mr. Jonathan Darcy and Miss Juliet Tilney to catch the person who dares believe the world is better off without her. (Lady Catherine really feels highly of herself.)

Additionally, Jonathan and Juliet get to see one another for the first time in an year. Affection is in the air. Even if it takes forever.

I'm enjoying this series a great deal, but the slow burn of Mr. Darcy and Miss Tilney is too slow. Ugh! I hope that the next book makes a little more progress with their relationship along with a new fun mystery.
