Super cute book with a fun play on words. Illustrations are adorable and fit this story really well. Children will love this book and silliness that comes along with it!

This story was adorably witty, well illustrated and can be a lesson for kiddos in the way that words/meanings come to be.

A cute pirate themed book! I found myself giggling through it. Kids will thoroughly enjoy it and I could see it being popular in a pirate themed storytime or program.

Every story doesn't have to have a deep message. In this adorable little picture book, a pirate has adventures with his parrot while trying to find something, even though he's not sure what he's looking for. It's a great little play on words with a satisfying ending.

“The Hoys” is about a pirate never knowing where a “hoy” is when others say “Ahoy there!” I thought this book had great illustration, however, I didn’t see any clear message behind the story. It was just “I can’t find a hoy, why doesn’t my parrot say anything, oh there’s a hoy!” And that was basically it.

I really liked the illustrations in the book. I liked the play on words regarding “ahoy there” but the ending of the book didn’t make much sense. However not all kids picture books do! Overall it was a cute children’s book.

So the illustrations in this book were great but it did not hold my interest nor did it tell a story worth telling. I feel like as a children’s story a lesson should be taught but with the silliness of this story it got lost in translation.

An adorable read. Such an interesting play on words! The illustrations are bright and colorful. The story is easy to read and full of fun. A must read for the pirate enthusiast in your house!

I read this to my daughter and she loved it! She really liked when he went exploring, and we both loved the pictures and thought they were beautiful! Super cute and I would recommend.

I found this book to be a little silly. It’s cute & quirky, but in my mind, children’s books are meant to teach a lesson or enrich the imagination. I guess the author might be trying to express it’s ok to have imaginary friends, but to be honest, I wasn’t quite sure what the point of the book was. But I will give it a 2 star for the beautiful illustrations.

Pirate Jake and his parrot can’t find a hoy anywhere. They search high and low. This story is great for young pirates and adults alike. Fun, fun, fun. Delightful illustrations. This is such a cute story that shows how important imagination is. The illustrations were great, and I loved how the parrot validated him being a true pirate. Great story!

The Hoys is a cute children's picture book. It is about a pirate who is confused when someone says "Ahoy!" He really wants to know what a hoy is. He goes on an adventure to find them and he eventually does.

This was a cute story. It was easy to follow along and I enjoyed the pirate aspect of it. I think a lot of children are fans of pirates so they will enjoy this story. The characters were unique and fun to follow. The pictures were very colorful and engaging. The pictures will keep children engaged and wanting to read the story. I think this story was unique and fun and a lot of kids will enjoy it!
