First and foremost; thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for allowing me to read the ARC of this novel! Thank you!

Imagine almost dying. Imagine almost dying and having to share a room with a celebrity. Now imagine that celebrity a woman slowly dying and not your biggest fan.

Do you have the picture? Good.

Now imagine these two women, bound by accident and illness agreeing to say โ€œyesโ€ to a spontaneous roadtrip to rekindle a familyโ€™s shattered past and to fall in love along the way.

It was such a refreshing story to read over the summer that not only showed what following your heart can lead you to, but what it can also heal from.

So excited I was able to get an ARC on Net Galley, from Thomas Nelson Fiction๐Ÿ˜˜

This book was an absolute joy to read! Courtney Walsh can do no wrong that Iโ€™ve found yet.

We have a young workaholic (sunshine) who meets an older workaholic (grumpy) and they learn from each other what they really want/need from life by saying yes to all of the things they usually say no to.

I would call this womenโ€™s fiction with a touch of romance, which was perfect. Of course, in Courtney Walsh style, itโ€™s funny, whitty & sweet.

I love this author so much and I knew this was going to be a fun read! I did feel like the first 30% was slow and dragged on a bit but the concept of this book was so good! Itโ€™s unique and perfectly written. It was such a heartwarming story and I really enjoyed going on the journey with the characters.

Thank you so much to the publisher and to the author for my eARC. I love Courtney Walsh's books and I knew I needed her latest summer read!

While not my favorite of Walsh's books, this book is so good and worth reading! I loved the main characters and the themes of found family, examining what's important in life, and the attitude of adventure with each "YES!"

I definitely recommend it when deciding on a good summer read!

The Summer of Yes was a lovely story about saying yes, embracing change, forgiveness, and second chances.
Kelsey just woke up in the hospital, having been in an accident that makes her rethink her priorities in life. This leads to The Summer of Yes where sheโ€™ll say yes to things she would usually say no. She plans a trip with a total stranger she met at the hospital, to help her say yes too.
I loved the characters, the setting, the dialogues, and Kelseyโ€™s inner voice. It was a cute and funny story talking about life, but with a little bit of a very sweet romance, I loved Hayden!
If you're looking for a feel-good read that'll make you laugh, swoon, and maybe even shed a tear or two, grab yourself a copy of "The Summer of Yesโ€. You'll finish it with a smile and maybe a newfound willingness to say "yes" to life's possibilities!

Kelsey has settled into her life as an editor, but dreams of being a writer. She wakes up in the hospital finding out that she was hit by a car and now has a cranky roommate. Her roommate, Georgina Tate, has made a name for herself and become a career businesswoman, but as Kelsey learns at the expense of her family. Kelsey decides to not end up like that and stop saying no to things and has declared this as the summer of yes. Kelsey is now no longer able to say no to opportunities and has somehow managed to convince Georgina to go along with her as well. Will Kelsey be able to say yes to things that cross her path? Will Georgina be able to overcome her hesitations and reconnect with her family? This is a great book filled finding oneself, romance, and reconciliation. I really enjoyed this book!

A near-death experience catapults workaholic junior editor Kelsey Worthington into changing her life--one yes at a time.

Kelsey Worthington always dreamed of being a writer, but she's settled into a routine of helping other people tell their stories in her job as a junior editor. She doesn't go outside of her comfort zone. Her relationships are safe. Her job is secure. Her existence is stable. And she's great with that.

And then, the accident.

While she's in the hospital overnight, she meets an older woman named Georgina Tate--a glass-ceiling-shattering, wildly successful businesswoman. Georgina sacrificed everything to become the woman she is today, but now, with a pair of failing kidneys and only a handful of months left to live, Georgina is forced to come face-to-face with her regrets. Kelsey is forced to reckon with her own list of "things I'll do someday," and she starts to ask a simple but life-changing What if I said yes to all the things I normally say no to? And The Yes Plan is born.

It takes some convincing, but Georgina finally agrees to go along with Kelsey on her Summer of Yes adventures. The two of them set off to see what might be out there waiting for them if they simply open themselves up to it. Together, they say yes to whatever comes their way--a whole day being tourists in their own New York City, dinner with strangers, a convertible that is far from practical but so much fun. But when Kelsey springs a surprise visit to Georgina's son Hayden and Georgina's ex-husband (who is not so much of an ex), the older woman is less than thrilled. But this is where the true journey begins.

Two stories of love, forgiveness, regret, romance, and finding a way to live a fearless life intertwine as these two women make an indelible impression on each other. And it all starts with a simple "yes."
----------
Well, I am 48 years old, and I stayed up until 2:15 AM last night reading this book. That is not the usual for me.

Do you like enemies-to-friends, found family, forced proximity, and and happy endings? Have you ever wondered if you are doing it right? Have you ever thought there might have been more out there for you...if only you had said YES more often?

Listen, I am pretty happy with my life, and I don't regret the decisions I made in the past because they made me the person who I am today. But I also read a lot of fiction, and part of the fun of that is that I get to try on different stories, and I get to fall into different worlds, and I get to ride along on others' journeys. And late last night, I found myself on Kelsey's journey, and I LOVED it.

This was my first Courtney Walsh book, and I can't wait to check out her back catalog because I am going to set out on some other people's journeys, and I hope I can enjoy them half as much as I enjoyed Kelsey's and Georgina's. Five enthusiastic stars for this one!

The Summer of Yes is a fascinating story about opening your heart and mind to all the possibilities of saying yes, to new experiences, new career choices and most importantly new relationships.

Courtney Walsh has written a fun yet thought provoking plot that will make readers laugh, cry and think "what-if" while being totally satisfied with the wonderful conclusion.

I enjoyed everything about Walsh's latest book and highly recommend it. I appreciate Thomas Nelson Fiction making a copy available for review. All thoughts and opinions are my very own.

๐Ÿš™ The Summer of Yes - Courtney Walsh

4 โญ๏ธ - Oh my goodness, my heart! This book was so incredibly sweet, warm, emotional, and heartwarming. I laughed, I cried, I felt like I was family to these characters. The growth and relationship between the main characters was so endearing and enjoyable.

Kelsey Worthingtonโ€™s life changed after a near death accident. She always wanted to be a writer but she settled on helping others tell their story as an editor. She doesnโ€™t go out of her comfort zone and sheโ€™s very comfortable in her lifeโ€ฆ until the accident. In the hospital, she meets successful business woman, Georgina Tate. Kelsey had an accident, Georgina has an illness. Both are living with regrets in life, thus the โ€œsay yes to everythingโ€ plan is born.

The relationship between Kelsey and Georgina reminded me of relationships with my own grandmothers. Actually, I also thought about Mia Thermopolis and Queen Clarisse a lot too. I loved how they took their own regrets and sadness, shared it, and changed it. They grew together and formed a lovable bond. I was so invested in what would happen between them and in the world around them. AND the adventure theyโ€™d go on while saying โ€œyesโ€ to everything. If youโ€™re looking for a fun, adventure-filled, easy summer read, try this one!

Thank you Netgalley, Harper Collins, and Harper Collins audio for the early ARC and listener copies! This one is out now!

๐Ÿ“–: The Summer of Yes by Courtney Walsh

This was such a wonderful story about living in the moment and remembering to ไธ…แ–‡แ‘Œแ’ชฦณ ๐™ก๐™ž๐™ซ๐™š your life! I feel like sometimes as a career driven person it can be easy to forget that we should be working to live and not living to work, and this book captured this so perfectly! Honestly, the relationship the two FMCs created was my favorite part of the entire book. Georgina was everything! The romance was also very cute, but was more of a bonus to the rest of the book than the main focus in my opinion.

Both FMCs in this one are your classic workaholics. Kelsey is a 32 year old assistant editor who has a near death experience and gets the โ€œpleasureโ€ of sharing a hospital room with Georgina, our older, very persnickety and grumpy FMC. Georgina is dying and is estranged from her son and husband because she chose work over family for her entire career, and now that sheโ€™s dying sheโ€™s having some regrets. Kelsey sees this in Georgina and realizes that she doesnโ€™t want to end up like her when sheโ€™s older, so she comes up with the summer of โ€œyesโ€ and drags Georgina along with her!

Courtney Walsh is a new favourite author. I was so grateful to receive an ARC of this book. I loved the characters and the family story. I also thought the introductory scene was so good and fun.

I finished reading this book earlier and I decided to take some time to ponder all the nuggets of truth tucked into its very entertaining story before writing this review. I needed a moment to ask myself โ€œWhat do I need to say yes to?โ€. I enjoyed going on both Kelseyโ€™s and Georginaโ€™s journeys toward saying no to fear and yes to happiness; to their evaluation of what makes life the most meaningful and worthwhile; and their brave decisions to let go of good in order to choose the best. Sometimes their banter made me laugh out loud and I could identify with their resistance to real changeโ€”even good change. And the love stories woven into all of this self-discovery were so romantic and tender. This is the perfect beach read or anytime read! Highest recommendation! I received a complimentary copy from the publisher. All opinions expressed are totally my own.

This was fun! I love stories with inter-generational friendships, and the added bonus of the dual love story/happy endings was so satisfying! It wasn't quite a five star "love" for me but I did really enjoy my time reading with this cast of characters.

The Summer of Yes by Courtney Walsh was a cute, fun summer read. This book made me laugh multiple times. I enjoyed the banter between Kelsey and Georgina. Their relationship was something different than you usually read in books. Their road trip was fun and I also enjoyed the small town costal setting.

I felt like this book was so slow though. I thought it dragged for the first 55-60% before it finally started to pick up. The concept of saying yes is interesting and I liked where that brought both of the FMC in the book. I enjoyed the friendship/infatuation between Kelsey and Georgina's son, even though that really just fell into place nicely. The story line of Georgina and her husband was so far fetched to me. I felt like everything in this book was wrapped up a little bit too nice.

Thank you NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for an ARC of The Summer of Yes by Courtney Walsh for an honest review.

Wow. Just wow. This book was fantastic! I absolutely loved it. You canโ€™t go wrong reading this book. It was such a beautiful exploration of how the two female main characters held themselves back from authentically living and finding their joy, and their journeys to reclaiming that for themselves. The relationship between the two main characters was so engaging. And, of course, the romances were lovely as well. A new one and a second chance one. Kelsey, an editor in New York, found her life unexpectedly interrupted after she was hit on the sidewalk by a car. In the hospital she ended up in a room with Georgina, a legendary businesswoman with failing kidneys. The accident made Kelsey rethink her life and everything she had been saying no to. Resolved to implement a โ€œSummer of Yesโ€, she was determined to convince Georgina to participate too and face her regrets. This is a standalone novel. The story includes elements that involve accident, hospitalization, kidney failure, dialysis, marital breakdown, and parent/child estrangement. The romance in this story is closed door with mild innuendo. There is no harsh language.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for a complimentary copy. This review is being shared voluntarily and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thank you Netgalley for a copy of this book.

What happens when one stranger realizes she isnโ€™t living her life and another stranger is at the end of theirs and they end up in the same hospital room? Sometimes they end up on a road trip that changes both of their lives when they start saying yes to life again.

Kelsey and Georgina were fun characters, and their story is sweet. Good ending so it makes the book worth the read.

5/5 โญ๏ธ

This was the perfect book for the middle of my summer! Kelsey decides to have a summer of yes after being in an accident. She convinces Georgina to come along but she has alternative plans to try and help her with some regrets sheโ€™s hiding in her life.

Cue Hayden the super handsome, estranged son and boy, the more I read the more I was so shocked! Of course you want there to be a love interest with Kelsey and Hayden since she isnโ€™t looking for anything but whatโ€™s what her parents have.

This book had my emotions on a roller coaster and it was so difficult to put it down. Now I need to do more โ€œyes thingsโ€ in my life that I donโ€™t normally do. ๐Ÿฉท

Kelsey literally had to be hit by a car in order to make changes in her life. While in the hospital she meets Georgina whoโ€™s dying. After LOTS of persuading Kelsey and Georgina embark on The Summer of Yes. I really enjoyed this book and the dual points of view. Kelsey and Georgina seem to be so vastly different from each other but really have so many similarities The romance in the book was well done. I loved how the main characters were both able to change while still continuing to explore and support each other Thank you Net Galley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for the advance copy of the book in exchange for my honest feedback

A definite feel good read that has you questioning why you donโ€™t say yes (or no) more often. Characters are relatable as well as the daily grind we have all gotten to know. A must read for sure

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own

The Summer of Yes, a book that made me realise that it's okay to put yourself first, that it's okay to fail and that it's okay to say yes to things you're afraid of. This book was such an eye opener and I really had a great time while reading it. I was giggling, crying, laughing, screaming while reading it so it's a valid 5 star for me. I loved the characters and the storyline and everything that happened to Kelsey and Georgina. I highly recommend this book and I already want to read more books by Courtney Walsh. Her writing style is so unique and beautiful.

Thank you Netgalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for this arc.
