What if you just said yes?

When Kelsey is hit by a car and walks away with minor injuries, she decides to reevaluate her life and take chances she never has before. She determines to say yes to opportunities that come along her way and pursue an unlikely friendship with her hospital roommate. What follows might just change her life.

I appreciate that Courtney Walsh has set out to make feel good novels with heart. They’re clean, they guarantee a happy ending, and while they may contain some heavier topics they’re crafted to be an escape from the real world.

That’s exactly what you’ll find here. A cute, sweet story made for pure enjoyment.

Thank you NetGalley and Thomas Nelson publishing.

Another fun Courtney Walsh novel that follows two women, one early in her career and one late in her career who attempt to overcome and avoid regrets. The story has two romances - one second chance, one a type of opposites attract, love at first sight combo - but is centered as much on the women's adventure and relationship as either of the love stories, which I loved.

Thank you to HarperCollins Christian Publishing, Thomas Nelson Fiction, Courtney Walsh, and NetGalley for the advanced audio of this book.

Kelsey Worthington is an assistant editor in NYC, grabbing coffee for her boss when a car jumps the curb and hits her. When she wakes up in the hospital, she discovers her roommate is none other than Georgina Tate, the wildly successful owner of Tate Cosmetics.

Kelsey is young, with dreams of being a writer. Georgina has realized the success that most people only dream of, but her kidneys are failing and without a transplant, she doesn’t have much time left. While on the outside it seems they couldn’t be more different, Kelsey realizes they have may actually have a lot in common, and it causes her to take a good look at her life and how she wants to live it moving forward.

Kelsey declares it “The Summer of Yes” and feels called to bring Georgina along for the ride with her. Together they’ll say yes to the things they’ve said no to in the past, and it just might have the power to change both of their lives.

I loved the concept of this book, and Courtney Walsh’s writing. The grumpy Georgina and sunshine Kelsey banter was hilarious. The romantic elements in the story were closed door and very sweet.

This is a perfect feel-good read that will make you think maybe you should start saying “yes” a little more.

If you’re looking for a new favorite contemporary romance author, look no further than the fantastic Courtney Walsh, who delivers with another great story in The Summer of Yes. Kelsey, who is insecure and aimless, but well meaning, meets Georgina, a no-nonsense, successful older woman, in the hospital after a bad accident, and decides to embark on (and drag Georgina along, kicking and screaming) a summer of no limits, saying yes to everything she has avoided before.

I found the story engaging, well-written and well-paced, and absolutely loved Georgina’s hard-shelled, witty, dead-pan character (she made me laugh out loud at times!). If you’re a fan of Beth O’Leary or Katherine Center, you will enjoy this book.

A solidly written, super-enjoyable read. Thanks so much to Netgalley and Thomas Nelson for the advance copy in exchange for honest review. 4.5 stars, definitely recommend!

A whirlwind accident makes workaholic/life escapist Kelsey question what's she's doing... when she sets off of an out of character road trip with a very reluctant, reclusive Georgina, her persistence and good intentions could set off something life changing.

Courtney Walsh's narratives always come with empathetic characters, well rounded development, realistic flaws and excellent flow - perfect for a substantive summer read!

Thank you to Netgalley and Thomas Nelson publishing for an ARC.

☀️Summer of Yes by Courtney Walsh OUT JULY 2nd ☀️

What a great read for the beggining of summer. It got me inspired to have my own summer of yes!

Kelsey Worthington wakes up in a hospital bed having no idea where she is. She then finds out she was hit by a car and almost died. The worst part, is because she’s such a workaholic, no one came to visit her. The only company she has is her hospital roomate who also has no vistors. Her roommate is none other than Georgina Tate, an older incredibly successful businesswoman. Kelsey realizes she doesn’t want her old life anymore, and thinks of the summer of yes, where the two unlikely freiends go on adventures and say yes to adventures they would never have agreed to in the past.

This book had everything! Friendship, adventure, summer scenery, romance and most of all humor! Such a light fun read. This is my first Courtney Walsh book but most certainly won’t be my last. 4.5 ✨

Can we just pause for a moment and give this book the standing ovation it deserves?? 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Literally felt like standing and clapping, and maybe even giving a few overly enthusiastic fist pumps as this story prepared for the final few chapters.

I don’t usually love books that are more Women’s Fiction, but between The Happy Life of Isadora Bentley and now The Summer of Yes, Courtney has made me a believer.

This book had me hooked from the very first Beep. Beep. Click. Drip. Whirrrr. Kelsey and Georgina were a dynamic duo, the new odd couple. Feisty and no nonsense Georgina, who no one ever tells no and “turning over a new leaf” Kelsey, who has decided to say yes to everything take us on the most heartwarming and eye opening adventure.

If you want a truly fun and sweet book that explores regret, reconciliation, forgiveness, and living the life you were meant to live, then please, PLEASE, say YES to this book!

She meets this old curmudgeon lady who was very successful in her career but not very successful in any other aspect of her life. They team up together to have a summer of yes. The Sumer of Yes is my new favorite Courtney Walsh. It's a perfect beach read with deeper themes woven throughout that made me love it even more.
A car hits book editor Kelsey in New York City and when she wakes up in the hospital, she has a very grouchy roommate, who is also one of the richest woman in the world. Georgiana has given up almost everything to be successful in her business, but no money can save her life. Kelsey sees that the accident is a life "disrupter"-when an event makes you realize you need a life change, maybe from God. For Kelsey, that means saying "yes" to everything and she decides to take Georgiana along with her on the ride. Along the way, an old love re-blossoms and a new one blossoms.
I loved the characters in this novel and the truths that were given-to cherish life and value family. The multi-generational characters also make this story the five star it is, each generation had a lesson to give.
I received a complemental copy of The Summer of Us thanks to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson, but all opinions are my own.

I’m really glad I read this book! Some aspects of it were bittersweet for me, because I’m in a season of life where I can’t say yes to a lot of things I want to do. But I know it won’t be that way forever. This book also made me think of the ways I can say yes to my family, which was a good reminder that I needed!

Kelsey and Georgina are such well-written characters! I was so invested in their story and what was going to happen that I had a hard time putting the book down. I thought about the characters a lot, as well as the themes of the book, and it’s a story that I’m very glad I read.

I highly recommend this beautiful book!

Kelsey Worthington is snapped out of her workaholic life abruptly by a car accident and goes on an unexpected journey with her hospital roommate who is also a successful business woman & kindred spirit, Georgiana Tate.

This was a sweet story of unexpected friendship, reconnecting with those you love, and opening doors to new opportunities. I appreciated the themes of reconciliation, forgiveness, grace, and leaning into vulnerability that were throughout the book. I'm someone who truly embraces my independence and appreciated the perspective this book brought about why we need to lean on those we love. I definitely recommend this book & it's perfect to pick up for the summer! This was my first @courtneywalsh book - I'm excited to read more!

Is The Summer of Yes the perfect summer read? YES!! I absolutely loved this book! It is lighthearted and fun, but also centers on some really important topics, like taking chances and even taking second chances, and pursuing your dreams, even if it means stepping out of your comfort zone. I’ve already found myself inspired to say yes to trying a few new things this summer that I normally wouldn’t have!

Plus the characters are fantastic! I loved Kelsey, Georgina, JP, Hayden, and Dylan. Young and old, super successful and quietly content, big city and small town, new love and old flames, and so much friendship - this story has it all, and it’s all woven into such a beautiful and uplifting story!

Thank you so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc of this one in exchange for an honest review!

This book follows a young woman who wakes up in the hospital after she is hit by a car. She is roomed with a famous businesswoman. She has a sort of midlife crisis and decides to go on a summer of yes where she finally does stuff that she wants to do.

I wasn’t a huge fan of this one. I felt like there were so many cliches and it was just hard to connect to anyone. I felt like the characters weren’t developed and instead were just cliches.

I hope others love this one but it wasn’t for me.

A beautifully moving, dual POV story of second chances and trying to correct your life's biggest regrets. When Kelsey has a near death experience it causes her to rethink her workaholic ways and when she meets Georgina, a dying business maven in the hospital she works hard to convince the grumpy older woman to join her on a summer of saying yes adventure.

I loved this story of intergenerational friendship, new love, starting over and figuring out what's truly important in life. Highly recommended for fans of books like Sarah Adler's Mrs. Nash's ashes and Sarah Goodman Confino's She's up to no good. Great on audio too narrated by Tanya Eby & Cathi Colas. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital and audio copy in exchange for my honest review!

The longer I sat with my thoughts, the more I liked this book! The messages resonate so strongly!
When Kelsey Worthington wakes up in the hospital next to the legendary Georgina Tate, the only thing they have in common is regret. Undeterred by Georgina’s reputation and superior attitude, Kelsey is determined to come out of her shell, say YES to the very things she’s been avoiding, and take Georgina on the journey with her!
This is a heartwarming story about not hiding from the things that might make you uncomfortable and being willing to experience all life has to offer. It’s a reminder of what is important at the end of the day and life, and not to lose those moments to the rat race that won’t matter in the end. This novel encompasses life’s simple pleasures, some bigger risks, regrets, family, friendship and forgiveness. Both women, despite their age differences, each experience growth and self-discovery.
This is more of a Women’s Fiction than Romance book, but there is tender love to be found here among the relationships encountered.
And ultimately, it’s a reminder to go out of your comfort zone and be willing to sometimes say YES! We may be surprised what may come out of that! This would be a great book club read – I’m sure there would be a lot of interesting discussions!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Summer of Yes is a witty and amusing story of a woman who is forced to reevaluate her priorities after an accident.

Two unlikely paired women partner on a summer of yes (although one participant is a much easier sell on the idea). Through funny banter and shared encouragement they both push each other to get out of their comfort zones, be vulnerable, and chase after individual dreams they didn’t think were within reach. A very fun summer read!

After an unexpected accident, Kelsey spends a night in the hospital. While she is there, she is roomed up with one of the most successful businesswomen around. After signing an NDA and getting a glimpse into Georgnia’s life, Kelsey decides that she’s going to make some changes. She’s going to say “yes” and she’s taking Georgina with her. What will come of their wild ride? Only time will tell!

Such a super fun book! With a super important storyline. You never know what you are missing when you’re living a stagnant life. You never know what saying yes will do to change your world!

Thank you NetGalley and Courtney Walsh for an advanced copy of this book!

This book was such a fabulous read! I loved the story line and found it such a refreshing and inspiring read.

When Kelsey Worthington wakes up in a hospital after a near death experience, she realizes she now has a second chance on life. She ends up in the same hospital room with the rich and famous Georgina Tate and after talking with her, she is left inspired. It is time to take charge of her life again and start saying yes.

I loved the changing perspectives between Georgina and Kelsey. This story was so well done and I loved how it ended. This book not only had a cute romance but it also left me with a feeling of hope. I want to have my own summer of yes.

I definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun and cute summer read. Warning- there is talk of dialysis and kidney transplant.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

The Summer of Yes by Courtney Walsh
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Publisher: Thomas Nelson Fiction
Publication date: July 2, 2024
What a book. The synopsis of this book really excited me and I was really excited to read it. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t sold from the beginning. It was a little bit of a slow start and I found myself reaching for different books instead of this one. I almost DNF but I am so so so glad that I kept reading. When I got to about 40% of the book- I was hooked and couldn’t put it down. I read the last 60% of the book in less than a day because I loved it so much. It made me laugh and cry on multiple parts. This one is clean yet still gives you butterflies. Thank you NetGalley, Thomas Nelson Fiction, and the author for this advanced reader copy.
