All the stars for this book! I loved loved loved it!! Kelsey Worthington was an overworked, underappreciated, junior editor who rarely ventured out of her comfort zone. One pivotal day, Kelsey gets hit by a rogue car outside of a Starbucks and finds herself sharing a hospital room with Georgina Tate, a legendary, extremely successful businesswoman who is very ill. Kelsey’s near death experience, combined with insights from Georgina’s life choices, leads Kelsey and a reluctant Georgina on a path to embrace life to the fullest, one yes at a time!
This book was a delight the whole way through. It was an interesting story of regret, forgiveness, found family, romance, and friendship. As someone who has also sacrificed a lot over the years for my career, it also made me really step back to reexamine my own life choices- to prioritize the relationships closest to me and to inject more fun, more “yes” into my life.
Highly recommend.! This was my first Courtney Walsh novel but I plan to read the rest as soon as possible!
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for such a wonderful book and the opportunity to read an advanced reader copy.

This book was light, quick, and enjoyable, though it had a predictable and straightforward Hallmark-y like quality. It began slow paced but eventually picked up, becoming quite heartwarming by the end.
The story revolves around the intriguing idea of spending an entire summer saying "yes" to things you typically wouldn't.
While Kelsey came across somewhat pushy at times, her good intentions were touching. The banter was amusing, and the New York setting added to the charm.
If you're looking for a story about forgiveness, love second chances, and new beginnings be sure to check this one out.

This was my first Courtney Walsh book and it will definitely not be my last. I loved this story. At one point, I did think would this really happen, but then I switched my brain to fiction mode. The main themes of friendship and second chances on life were what kept me so into this book. Forgiveness, commitment and unconditional love was written beautifully. This book made me think about my
life and how much time I may have left on this earth. This is a book I will remember for a long time! Now I need an actual copy of this book for my shelves!
Thank you to NetGalley for the early copy of this book and giving me the opportunity to review it.

Just loved this book "The Summer of Yes" by Courtney Walsh. This is everything I've come to expect from a book by Courtney and I saved this one to read once it felt like summer here in Wisconsin where I live. This is a perfect summer beach read - and yes there are some fun scenes at the beach/ocean that are just wonderful.
The main character Kelsey ends up in the hospital after being hit by a car while leaving a Starbucks getting her boss a coffee. She wakes up later in the hospital, lucky to be alive with an older, grouchy lady Georgina as her roommate. She instantly knows who Georgina is - a savvy businesswoman who is famous and someone many women look up to that want to be successful in NYC. Both women have a lot in common but as Kelsey looks at her life and sees where Georgina is at - her way of thinking starts to change.
Kelsey convinces Georgina who she can tell has many regrets in life to participate with her in "A Summer of Yes" where they do things they'd normally say no to like eating street food, going on a boat and a road trip. This book is so incredibly good and gives a nod to what I loved in Walsh's "Happy Life of Isadora Bentley." If you loved that book, this one should definitely be on your TBR. Five stars without hesitation. I just couldn't put this one down.
Thank you to Thomas Nelson for the opportunity to read an ARC of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

So, I really loved the first half of this book. I loved reading about Kelsey re-discovering the things that make her happy and I loved the dynamic between her and Georgina. It was fun having Kelsey meddle in Georgina’s life and I was excited to see where the story would go.
The second half of the book kind of fell apart for me. Not only was there an insta-love story, which I always struggle with, but both Hayden and Dylan seemed too good to be true. Their feelings and actions were not believable in comparison to the way most humans process life events. Additionally, while I liked Georgina’s attitude and overall feistiness in the first half of the book, there was an expectation that she would grow as a person as the book continued…and I really don’t feel like she did. By the end of the book, I really didn’t like her all that much and was not invested at all in her story.
Even though this book was a bit of a miss for me, I do think it will resonate with many readers. A big thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson fiction for an Advanced Readers Copy in exchange for my honest review.

I so enjoyed this book! Clever storyline and two great female characters. Potential life altering circumstances bring the women together on a great journey with surprising results. A great summer read I would definitely recommend!

By now, you all know my love for Courtney Walsh and everything she writes - obviously, her latest is no exception!
THE SUMMER OF YES is more in the vein of her last summer release, THE HAPPY LIFE OF ISADORA BENTLEY - heavier on the women’s fiction, with a side of romance 🥰 Walsh takes on life’s choices and regrets, you will find yourself wanting to say YES!! I love when a book’s theme translates so easily into your own life, and this one had me doing some major thinking…
Can’t forget the romance - it’s sugary sweet, a bit forbidden, and has a golden retriever hero 😍 But, the real star relationship is between Kelsey and Georgina. Their hilarious banter and unlikely friendship was so heartwarming 🩷

100% my favorite @courtneywalsh book!!!! I’m a huge fan of her books, so I feel as though that’s saying a lot!
When Kelsey has a near-death experience, her views on life and everything she thought she wanted begin to change. This is where the summer of yes enters! I loved the idea of saying yes to things you normally wouldn’t so much. I absolutely loved all of the characters and the different roles that they played. The development of Georgina was perfection. The ending was done so well and left my heart bursting with happiness. I also really enjoyed the fact that a lot of it took place in North Carolina. The mention of the wild horses was fun - we vacation on the Outer Banks every summer and they will show up at our house!
I definitely recommend reading this one! I will be having my own summer of yes for sure!!

All I could think about is my friend Megan. And our conversations about life… dreams.. taking a chance. And finding some glimmers .
Saying yes instead of putting ourselves on a back burner in the most light, uplifting and fun way. Courtney seems to write the books of positive while trying to give us the heartwarming life moments (and pushes) we need.
Total book cleanser.

Thank you to NetGalley, Thomas Nelson, and Courtney Walsh for this ARC!
This book was an overall feel-good women’s fiction book! I much prefer romance but I still really enjoyed it. The first half of the book was a little slow-going and repetitive, but I just kept with it because the book is not too long. The second half of the book was much more enjoyable to binge and read! The plot moved along quicker and there was more character development happening which is the main point of the book. The second half also had some romance for both characters which was lovely to see. I really loved seeing the characters get happy endings and got so emotional at some of the end scenes! I would recommend this book to the reader who likes Devil wears Prada, women’s fiction, and a quick cute read .

The Summer of Yes was a lighthearted, fun read! I loved Kelsey and Georgina and it was such a fun play on the grumpy/sunshine trope. I loved the message to push yourself to say yes to more things before it's too late!

Thank you to NetGalley, Thomas Nelson and Courtney Walsh I was able to read and ARC of this novel.
This was not my first Courtney Walsh novel and it will not be my last. Courtney has such a way with words and forming stories that takes readers on an adventure and carries meanings that can be heavy or hard hitting for some.
This novel is about two women named Kelsey and Georgina who meet in the most unlikely of ways. Throughout the course of a summer they find out the true meaning of friendship and also the two go on an adventure of a lifetime.
This novel was a very fun and engaging read. I loved the character development, the setting and events. There was nothing about this novel that was unenjoyable! I would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of roadtrips, second chances, dual POV and also heartwarming beach reads.

The Summer of Yes was a sweet, inspirational story of Kelsey and Georgina. Kelsey recently had a near death experience and she meets her hospital roommate, Georgina, who has a challenging chronic disease. Kelsey decides to take time off of work and trick Georgina into a summer of yes. They take chances, do things they wouldn’t normally do and ultimately try to determine what matters make in the world.
The story started slow for me and as a medical professional, I did not feel Georgina’s disease was portrayed accurately. The story was predictable, but I enjoyed Kelsey’s character.
A complementary copy was provided by publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. all opinions are my own.

The Summer of Yes was such a fun, cute, and heartwarming story. I'm not going to lie. The first 25-35% felt really slow for me. I struggled to get into the book, but I'm glad I kept going. I ended up enjoying it a lot.

I keep thinking I’ll find a Courtney Walsh book that won’t “wow” me, but it has yet to happen. Every book I read of hers leaves me wanting to read another one soon after. The Summer of Yes fits that bill.
Quite honestly, I was a tad nervous at the beginning because I was having a hard time picking it up. The story was good but not captivating me. Then, 30 percent into the story, BAM! I was absolutely hooked and found myself ignoring household chores so I could keep reading.
The two main female characters could not be more different (generationally and emotionally, just to name two) and I found myself genuinely curious how their friendship would pan out. Then add in some travel and romance and I was all in!
Every Walsh book is centered around real-life topics where the main characters learn a life lesson, along with the readers. And yet these novels don’t depress me in the least because Walsh has a way of crafting engaging stories with an excellent of seriousness, humor, and lightness. The word that kept coming to mind as I read this one was REDEMPTION, and now that I think about Walsh’s works as a whole, ALL of her books have this element to them.

This was the first book that I’ve read by Courtney Walsh and I’m looking forward to reading more by her! The Summer of Yes was a cute and easy read with a powerful message. It showcased the importance of being true to yourself and living life with no regrets. I enjoyed getting the POVs of both Kelsey and Georgina while seeing their unlikely friendship grow. Kelsey’s inner dialogue was so fun and I loved her thought process as a writer. I also enjoyed the light romance in this book. Overall, I highly recommend checking this one out if you’re looking for a cute summer read.

3.5 stars
This was a very sweet and wholesome book! It was a lovely premise and an easy, light-hearted read. I found the discussions around fear, regret and living life to the fullest were inspiring. The characters were likeable and fun!
The writing was a bit more tell don’t show than what my preference is but I still definitely enjoyed myself!
No spice, just wholesome fun
Very grateful to have received a NetGalley E-ARC XX

This was a cute read with a bit of depth sprinkled throughout. I appreciated the premise but didn't always love the older main character. Some parts towards the beginning were a bit slow for me. Of course the ending was wonderful.

I was so excited for this book and loved the premise, but the pacing was off and I wasn’t very invested in the characters. The romance also came pretty late in the story and it was lacking IMO. The moral of this story is a good one and I know a lot of readers will love it, but it just wasn’t for me.

If you are familiar with the clean and closed door romance movement, you have probably seen - or read - some of Courtney Walsh's books. The Summer of Yes was my first contact with her writing, and let me say, I enjoyed it very much. But let me warn you: this is not a romance book (although there is some). It is more like a literary fiction book, with funny and romantic elements. Reading this book felt like watching a movie (and what a great movie it would be). I don't want to get too much into the plot because I feel like this is one of that books that the least you know about it, the better your experience is. The idea of this book is super captivating and the main characters were super fun. Shout out to Georgina, she was by far my favorite character.
Thank you so much Netgalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for the access to the ARC! 🤍
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
