This was wildly outside the realm of possible. It was too far fetched and predictable. I think this will work for some people, it just doesn't for me.

Kelsey finds herself in the hospital and meets an older woman, Georginia, who encourages her to take chances and live her life to the fullest.

I would give this book a 4.5 rating. It was romantic, uplifting and full of humor. I loved the characters and the relationship
between Kelsey and Georgina was especially funny. Hayden and Dylan were a wonderful example of forgiveness. I recommend this book. I received a complimentary copy of this book and the opinion expressed in this review is completely my own.

This book resonated with me in a way I’m not sure any other fiction book has. Kelsey has a near death experience and Georgina is dying from kidney failure.
Georgina is a famous CEO and founder of a cosmetics company who though wildly successful, has lots of regrets. She gave up family for the sake of business.
Kelsey is on the brink of becoming Georgina. She’s young and a slave to her work in publishing. She wants to write but after being told no once, she lives in her comfortable job, giving it all she has.
After both Kelsey and Georgina end up sharing a room in the hospital, Kelsey realizes that her near death experience is a timely disrupter and causes her to reevaluate her life. She choose fear and comfort A LOT. She says no A LOT.
That changes when she presents Georgina with the idea of “the summer of yes”. She wants to help the older woman face some of her regrets and make a change in her final days while also saying yes and living fully herself.
I absolutely loved this book. My husband had a near death experience two years ago, and he truly almost died. The trauma and pain from that situation made me turn into Kelsey a little bit. I found myself saying no a lot. Being careful and cautionary. Expecting the worst and letting fear drive me.
So when I read Kelsey and Georgina’s story and experienced their growth and healing and hope, I felt it deeply. I’ve been there. And the second chances, learning to be brave, and saying yes all resonated with me so much. The themes of forgiveness and hope, bravery and love are just so good and so prominent in the story.
Oh and the love story was GREAT. Dylan, Georgina’s husband has been waiting faithfully for her all these years. And Hayden, her son, is all the things you want in a MMC. He’s kind, genuine and instantly starts to fall for Kelsey and I ate up their romance. 😍
My only caution is this: Georgina is a piece of work through the first 50% of the book. She’s cranky and honestly just mean. But don’t let that keep you from finishing the story. I promise it’s so worth it for the ending.
I HIGHLY recommend you snag this book later this summer. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Summer of Yes delivers a charming tale of self-discovery, second chances, and love. This one really tugged on my heart strings, while also keeping me hooked with the funny banter and relatable feelings about life. You’ll definitely finish this one contemplating your own life and whether the decisions you make are truly making you happy. What a fun, yet still inspiring read by Courtney Walsh!

I loved this story! All the feel good parts of her writing, as well as the 2 main characters and their banter.
Kelsey and Georgina have a fun relationship, that gives hope to the reader!

4.5* rounded up to 5* -- A beautiful stroll of a book about re-evaluating life and approaching it as a journey of open doors. I went in assuming this would be a book of bucket list errands, with two women in different stages of life exchanging pearls of wisdom, but this was So. Much. Better! These characters had so much heart and while their relationships built slowly, the last quarter of the book was especially rewarding. I absolutely adored it.

4.25 out of 5. funny, adorable and heartwarming story without taking itself too seriously. ITs funny, but also very insightful. Really why should we wait until we are old or a almost death experience to do what we like. Most people do, these characters do, but I think its a great story on just taking a summer of Yes ever so often. Say yes to life that is coming up. I love the interconnectedness of the stories and how these two women met and complement each other in such different ways.

Such a fun story that makes you considering how you’re living life. We loved the main characters and the plot and had a hard time putting this one down. A fun summer read for sure!

Courtney Walsh’s books never disappoint and The Summer of Yes was a warm and cozy hug. Thank you, Net Galley, for the advance copy! Due to a freak accident, Kelsey Worthington ends up in a hospital room with the famous cosmetic mogul and businesswoman, Georgina Tate. Georgina’s crusty and grumpy mannerisms didn’t put off Kelsey when she came up with the idea of the Summer of Yes….pulling her life out of its rut, trying to jumpstart new life. After some family secrets begin to unfold, Kelsey can’t deny the pull to make some changes and embark on an adventure. The yeses begin to change Georgina’s life, but also Kelsey’s in the process. I loved the setting of this story and the beautiful relationships formed. The ways Walsh uses authentic characters and their relationships to change me as a reader. This book is a perfect read for summer!

My first Catherine Walsh book and I enjoyed it.
The dialogue was quick and full of wit. The main characters came to life. I really enjoyed the pace.
Overall, it was a fast and sweet read.

Getting hit by a car sends Kelsey flying in a new direction. She lands on the idea of A Summer of Yes - dragging Georgina along with her. You will definitely want to say yes to this book!

What a fun and introspective book with such a unique concept! The idea of embracing more Yes to prioritize and try things you’d normally say no to was refreshing and lent to a great story! The camaraderie with Georgina and Kelsey was spot on and they saw each other in themselves and knew the best way to push each other bit by bit.
This book is all about taking risks, being outside your comfort zone, accepting love and forgiveness, and enjoying life’s journey!
A great read for sure!!

WHAT TO SAY!!?!?!? This book was incredible. An easy, solid 5-stars. This was joyful, heartwarming & funny. Courtney Walsh filled this book with life lessons & enduring characters. The banter between the characters was hilarious. It gave a clear picture of who each person was.
We start with Kelsey waking up in a hospital bed, unsure of what happened…after her second chance at life we follow her and the stubborn Georgina on a Summer of YES! I thought this would be a simple story of friendship, but it was SO. MUCH. MORE.
I cannot wait to buy a hard copy when this comes out! You all should be standing in line to grab this easy reading story of life book! I know I will!!
Thank you to NetGalley, Courtney Walsh & Thomas Nelson for the opportunity to read & review this book early!

This book was just…. WOW 😍
The cover is stunning. The characters, with their banter, just suck you right in. I could easily imagine Kelsey and Georgina in real life, which helped this novel flow so easily.
This book left me speechless and makes me want to say yes to even more things!

Definitely chick lit.....and I loved it. Light, heartwarming, and fun. A bit predictable, but so what? The characters are delightful (even the curmudgeonly Georgina) and the plot tightly structured. Of course it goes exactly as expected, but I never understood why people want to make that a bad thing. Reading is designed to help us escape the humdrum of daily existence and to help us appreciate the mundanity. And this book does exactly that.

Wow oh wow did I enjoy this one! I resonated with it so much. We follow our main character who wakes up in the hospital from an accident and she realizes that she has let work take over her life. She convinces her hospital roommate, a cranky woman who owns and started a cosmetics company, to have a summer of “yes” where they say yes to things they otherwise wouldn’t. This novel was so inspiring and I enjoyed the friendships and romances blossoming throughout. It was a quick and sweet read that I can definitely see myself rereading when it comes out! I loved being in this story and it really gave me the push to do things out of my comfort zone since I’ve been so stuck in what I know.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book is such a charming and inspiring read. The protagonist, Kelsey, learns to break free from her routine by embarking on a ‘Yes Plan’, finding joy and growth in new experiences. The novel is a delightful read, offering a message about the courage to take risks and the beauty of spontaneity. Perfect for anyone looking to be reminded of the power of saying "YES"!

THE SUMMER OF YES is a charming book, and I'm so glad I had the chance to read it. The characters are realistically portrayed, and I cared about how things would turn out for Kelsey and Georgina. The plot was engaging, although the pacing dragged at times, especially in the beginning. I think readers of this type of story prefer a faster pace and don't want to get bogged down. This is especially true since writers are (unfortunately) competing with Netflix and other streaming services.
However, ultimately this is a very satisfying novel. Kelsey and Georgina embark on quite the entertaining caper. I especially enjoyed the moments of humor threaded with jewels of wisdom. The patience displayed by Dylan was almost too good to be true, but very sweet.
Highly recommended for fans of women's fiction and uplifting stories about self discovery and growth.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance e-galley. All opinions in this review are 100% my own.

Courtney Walsh writes an incredible story in The Summer of Yes. This book showcases two unlikely lives colliding in a story of making hard choices, embracing the potential for changing your path and digging deep in to the messy world of your own “why” and life’s passions. This is a book of self discovery, the power of forgiveness and ultimately —- saying yes to love and the things that scare you. I loved this story, the characters and how relatable it was. Made me smile, laugh and cry which to me is the sign of a great book.
