📚 First time diving into Courtney Walsh's work and despite a slow start, I found myself hooked! 😊 By the end, I was shedding happy tears, a rarity for me with books. Ready for more from this author! Captivating, romantic, and a real page-turner. ⏩ The central message: don't let goals overshadow time with loved ones. Balancing work and family is key. Forgiveness also plays a big role. Appreciate the clean read and glad I invested my time. 👍
When Georgina Tate and Kelsey Worthington become roommates during a hospital stay, they discover common ground. Georgina, a successful NYC businesswoman, sacrificed family time for her career, losing her husband and son in the process. Kelsey, a workaholic editor, admires Georgina's success but questions the cost. Together, they embark on a summer of yes to explore life beyond work. Can they rewrite their futures?

Thank you NetGalley, Courtney Walsh, and Thomas Nelson Fiction for the advanced copy of The Summer of Yes in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own!
Such a cute and inspiring story! I love the idea of putting yourself out there and saying yes to more opportunities.. Mix the grumpy, stubborn old woman who’s guarding her heart in the midst of major health crisis and the young woman who’s trying to figure out what she wants in life and you have an unlikely duo that you’re sure to love. Plenty of banter and romance. I will definitely recommend this, as I do all Courtney Walsh books! 4 stars only because I did feel like this got off to a slow start!

Such a sweet story!! Kelsey, an editor for a New York publishing company, gets hit by a car and has to recover in a hospital room with the famous cosmetic guru, Georgina Tate. Kelsey tries to get to know Georgina, but Georgina will have no part of the friendliness. Outside in the hospital hallway, Kelsey "randomly" encounters an incredibly cute guy. Once home, and after visiting with her mom, and after an unfortunate event at work, Kelsey hatches a plan to live The Summer of Yes, and to quit being so negative. She involves Georgina, and the adventure begins!
This is a fun read, and quite compelling as well. I read it in record time - I just could wait to find out it would all play out. The ending was wonderful and satisfying. And beautifully sappy, too. Loved it!
Thanks to NetGalley for allowing me to read and review The Summer of Yes.

Is it corny of me to say YES to this book? Because I loved it! And it really got me in the mood for summer! I loved this book and I am excited to share it with my patrons at the library!

This is a cute, uplifting, sassy story that I enjoyed, but found a little overly saccharine-sweet at times. It's a lovely lesson about realizing the importance of living your life, not just surviving it - and that money and success definitely do not guarantee happiness or fulfillment. I understand that this was a feel-good story, but it did get a little overly Pollyanna-ish and overly "only good things!" for my personal taste. I felt like an occasional setback or less-than-perfect confluence of intention and event would have made it resonate more strongly in its ultimate messaging. Still, it was a fun and cheerful read and a lovely break from the dreariness of so many contemporary novels. I loved the cantankerousness of Georgina, and found her blend of wit, wisdom, and grumpiness to be a refreshing counterpoint to Kelsey's irrepressible cheerfulness - although I did respect her spunk throughout, even when she had no idea what she was getting herself into. Overall it was an engaging and light-hearted read that delivered a lovely positive message.

Young or old, I think many women will find pieces of themselves in both Kelsey and Georgina. Opening your heart and mind to new ideas and experiences, coming to terms with past regrets and learning to live a happier life are but a few of the themes in this story.
I wanted to hear more of Georgina's POV and I felt like the beginning dragged a bit but overall I enjoyed!

I love Courtney Walsh! Her stories and writing are so tender, fun and easy. This book takes readers on a fun adventure with Kelsey following a traumatic accident. She meets legendary businesswoman Georgina Tate and together they embark on a series of adventures in the goal of ‘saying yes’. Both women live with regrets, with feelings of needing to rectify their lives. Whether it be in their careers, friendships, lifestyles, or relationships. I loved how this grumpy-sunshine trope was used between Kelsey and Georgina. The development of their friendship was so incredibly heartwarming. You can feel both of their personal growth throughout the book and were easy characters to root for. Kelsey was very relatable, as a young woman myself who sometimes feels stuck in life. This book was sweet, funny, heartwarming, and a lovely reminder to live life like you’ve been given a second chance. Life is short and we should all say ‘yes’ more!

This book was very good and I enjoyed reading it. I loved the story line and characters. They were unique and entertaining. It challenged me to be a better person. It made me think through some of my life goals and I appreciate that. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This was my first time reading novel by Courtney Walsh and it will not be my last.
The story follows Kelsey, a young assistant editor in New York City who says no to everything except work. Following an accident she finds herself sharing a room with Georgina Tate, an older, extremely successful, no nonsense business woman.
Through conversation, Kelsey asks Georgina whether her total focus on her career was worth it. Georgina's slip of her cool, calm demeanour makes Kelsey reconsider her life. Serving out on a mission to say yes to things, Kelsey hopes to bring life back into her day to day world.
The dual point of view really helped to show the story from the two ladies' own view points and helped to knit the story together.
The depth of the characters, their relatability and the sensitivity that their stories were told meant that the novel was really enjoyable, amusing at times and just a pleasure to read.

I have read Courtney's other titles, and this story is different- more serious with a lesson to be learned. It was deep and meaningful while also being light. The characters were very relatable and it was easy to empathize with them and their stories. I had to pace myself because I didn't want to the story to end too quickly!!!! Loved the Summer of Yes!

This story really tapped into my heart, bringing forth lots of emotions. There were so many beautiful life lessons for readers of all ages.
Kelsey Worthington is a thirty-two year old, overworked junior editor, working for a boss and publishing firm that doesn’t appreciate or value her. Georgina Tate is a mature, wealthy, acerbic and driven business mogul who runs a successful cosmetics company but who is living a life filled with sadness and regret. On her way to the office one morning, Kelsey gets hit by a car and wakes up in her hospital bed only to see the famous Ms. Tate as her roommate. As the two start to speak with one another, an idea hits Kelsey that it’s time to change her unfulfilled life and start to live by saying YES to experiences that she normally would refuse while at the same time trying to bring joy to Georgina.
Young or old, I think many women will find pieces of themselves in both Kelsey and Georgina. Opening your heart and mind to new ideas and experiences, coming to terms with past regrets and learning to live a happier life are but a few of the themes in this story.

Kelsey Worthington is a workaholic who avoids her friends, and her family but this all changes when she is involved in a car accident and meets Georgina Tate in the hospital as she recovers. Kelsey is miserable because she isn’t doing what her heart would like but she’s afraid of what that might look like. This accident is her catalyst for change.
In The Summer of Yes, Kelsey pretty much barges into Georgina’s life and convinces her that she needs to say yes to more of what she wants to do, but in doing so, she has also to examine her inability to say yes to certain situations in her own life.
The Summer of Yes is a great, entertaining read with engaging characters with imperfect lives but all of them learn that a little love and forgiveness go a long way. Very enjoyable! I can’t help but think this a perfect read for the summer while you’re on holiday or at the beach.
My gratitude to Netgalley and Thomas Nelson. All opinions expressed are honest

Loved this!! Great novel about self discovery. I thought there was great character development and overall felt like it was super fun. I would definitely recommend

Say YES to reading this one!! Thank you NetGalley, Thomas Nelson Fiction, and Courtney Walsh for allowing me to read an ARC of this amazing book. For someone that is a workaholic and is always saying “no”, this book made me want to say “Yes” to more adventures in my life. I loved this book and can't wait to read more Courtney Walsh books.

I really enjoyed this book a lot more than I had expected. It was my first Courtney Walsh book but it definitely won't be my last. It has some funny moments, amazing banter between the female leads and loved both the love stories. The concept of saying yes to things you might generally say no to and stepping out of one's comfort zone is not something new but the story was fresh and unique.

The Summer of Yes starts with Kelsey getting hit by a car and sharing a hospital room with Georgina, a legendary businesswoman. Kelsey starts rethinking her entire life - who wouldn’t after being hit by a car- and it turns out Georgina is in the bed next to her doing the same. Kelsey decides to embark on a summer of yes and somehow convinces Georgina to do it with her. This is a sweet summery read that filled me with hope and bravery. Say yes to this book!

I normally love Walsh’s book, but unfortunately I found this one to be just okay. To be honest I didn’t really care for Kelsey, I was more interested in Georgina’s POV. I loved the banter between the two, they had be laughing so much! I also felt that the story dragged a little in the beginning and took a while to get to the main part. Overall it was okay

This book was so inspiring!! It makes me want to make a big life change…HA! But really, the characters were relatable and I loved the family feel to it. Great book!

I loved this book! Was a great story that highlighted the themes of family and friendship! I loved the storytelling through all of the experiences the main characters shared. This would be a perfect beach read for the summer!

In "The Summer of Yes," Courtney Walsh crafts a delightful and uplifting story that encourages readers to step out of their comfort zones and embrace life's possibilities. The novel's premise is both charming and introspective, as two vastly different women from contrasting generations embark on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth.
Walsh's protagonists, Kelsey and Georgina, are brilliantly developed characters that captivate from the start. Kelsey's vulnerability and self-doubt as a struggling writer are relatable, while Georgina's bold and unapologetic personality adds a refreshing dynamic to the narrative. Their unlikely friendship blossoms organically, and their contrasting perspectives on life make for engaging conversations and profound realizations.
The book's pacing is well-balanced, with lighthearted moments seamlessly intertwined with deeper explorations of regret, purpose, and the courage to seize opportunities. While the plot follows a somewhat predictable trajectory, the characters' authenticity and the author's keen observations on human nature make "The Summer of Yes" a captivating read. Walsh's ability to capture the complexities of relationships, both familial and romantic, adds depth to the story, making it more than just a lighthearted summer read.
