Wow!! This book is one of those books you leave and feel like your life has changed, that it’s a women’s fiction book mixed with a self help book. It teaches you that life is short and tomorrow isn’t promised and to take a chance and say yes to things that scare you!

I’m the first to admit I’m so much like Kelsey or actually probably more like Georgina cause I can be grumpy sometimes but most of the time it’s me trying to protect myself from getting hurt just like Georgina. I let things that scare me stop me from doing them or things I think will make me look weird or like an idiot. No more it’s time to start saying yes to some things that may be scary to me or make me uncomfortable cause what is life if your not taking any chances and doing things you love with the people you love the most.

All that to say this impacted me so much and Thank you Courtney Walsh for writing this story! That authors note though absolutely made me sob! This is definitely my favorite book of the year and I know it’s one I won’t ever forget. Not to mention it’s the first one I felt the need to put tabs in! Check the next slide just to see all the tabs.

Courtney Walsh is always a treat!! I love her banter and dialogue and this book was much the same! It felt a little slower to get started but once I got into it I couldn't put it down!

The Summer of Yes by Courtney Walsh is one of my favorite books I read this year. Ms Walsh is already one of my favorite writers, but this book is truly inspired. Yes, I’d call it a rom com and I think fans of this genre will love all the quirky, fun moments throughout the book. But this book has so much heart and depth. It examines what it means to really live and to live without regrets. I just loved every second of reading this book and hope for a sequel because I think these characters have more stories to tell. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

The Summer of Yes is a contemporary novel written by Courtney Walsh.

Summary: Kelsey Worthington isn’t living the life of her dreams.

She wants to be writing her own books, but instead she’s stuck editing other people’s work for a boss who doesn’t respect her in the least.

When a freak accident lands Kelsey in the hospital, she begins to wonder if she is wasting her life away.

What better way to fix that problem than to throw herself whole-heartedly into fixing her cantankerous hospital roomate’s problems?

But as Kelsey does her bumbling best to fix Georgina’s problems, she might just find a way to solve her own issues-and learn to say yes to new adventures and new possibilities.

My Thoughts: I loved this book so much. Courtney Walsh is a wonderful writer, and just like her book last year The Happy Life of Isadora Bentley (my favorite read of last year), this one will probably be my pick for best book of this year.

The characters are so unique and quirky and real, and I just loved following along with their adventures as they find their ways back to what is important in life by saying yes to new (and sometimes scary) things.

I am also really enjoying the author’s theme in books lately-learning what makes you happy, learning to say yes to new things-I hope she writes more books along this vein, because I am definitely enjoying them.

If you want to relax with a light contemporary novel with a nice romance-this is it.

If you want a unique storyline with characters you can’t wait to root for-read this.

If you want to be reminded that it’s good to try new things and get out of your bubble every now and then-this works for that too.

What I am trying to say is-this is one to buy (the highest compliment I give any book.)

It’s such a great book, and I know it’s one I will read again and again.

I would like to thank Thomas Nelson for providing me with a free digital copy of this book in exchange for my review. Thank you!

Courtney Walsh always delivers delightful stories, and 'The Summer of Yes' is no exception. The book explores personalities in-depth, and how changes can be difficult and joyful. How Kelsey and Georgina meet and develop a bond is both fanciful and possible. Their journey together taught me a lot, and happily will instruct any of the readers of the book. I highly recommend it!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. the opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

I am Kelsey Worthington. I play it safe, I prefer to help others and am a little scared to step out of my comfort zone. The difference between Kelsey and I is that Kelsey has a near death experience that completely changes her life and pushes her out of her comfort zone. After this experience Kelsey starts tackling her “things I’ll do some day” list.

Kelsey meets Georgia and they run on off on a summer adventure and say “Yes”.

This is a cute novel, an easy summer read that leaves you filled with joy. I liked this book because the characters are SOOO relatable.

I wish the plot would have had a few more twists than it did.

Thank you to the author, publisher and Net Galley for the chance to read this book prior to publication in exchange for an honest review.

I love every Courtney Walsh book I've read. They are all light hearted and you know you'll get a happily ever after and sometimes that's exactly what you need. This one was no different. Instead of letting work continue to rule her life, after being hit by a car Kelsey decides to make some changes. She takes her mentor in on her project of a summer of yes.

This was super cute and it was a heartfelt story. I liked the relationship between Kelsey and Georgina as much as the love stories.

I will continue to read everything she does!

Thank you for this book and exchange for my honest review. The Summer of Yes was a hilarious, heartwarming story of friendship and not giving in to a slow death by not fulfilling your life’s goals and dreams. Every single book that Courtney Walsh writes is my favorite, and this one was no different.

3.5⭐️ Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for a copy of The Summer Of Yes.

Kelsey has a near death experience and ends up in the hospital. She ends up getting a roommate in the hospital and it is Georgina Tate-the founder of a wildly successful cosmetic company. Kelsey finds out Georgina is sick and dying. Kelsey realizes that she has not been living her life to the fullest and she feels like it was fate that her and Georgina were roommates in the hospital. Kelsey convinces het to have a summer of saying yes to things. Kelsey also has a plan to reunite Georgina and her estranged husband and son. In doing so Kelsey may just find what she is truly looking for.

This book was good. I felt like some parts of the dual point of views got a little repetitive at times.

I may be showing my age with this review. I would love this book if I were 15-25 years old. But, at 43, the tale is too cutesy and predictable. And maybe that is comforting to some, like the way an early 2000's rom-com is. Everyone knows how it's going to end, but we all play along with the cat and mouse game. This story starts with a girl who has lost herself by putting everything she has into her career. And she suddenly gets a wakeup call and decides to try saying "yes" to life more and "no" to her career (via a vacation to try this out). And, it goes exactly where you thinking it's going as you progress in the narrative. For me, it was just okay. I finished it because I kept wanting a spin, a suprise. Maybe I'm too Georgina Tate in my stage of life :) I'm going to pass this on to my YA reader tween and see how she likes it as I'm sure she will have a fresher take than I.

After getting hit by a car, Kelsey shares her hospital room with a very successful older business woman, Georgina. Kelsey tries to make the best of the situation and Georgina is appalled that she is stuck with Kelsey. The two start to form a bond and the story goes from there. This was a grumpy sunshine friendship story.

I loved the relationship Kelsey and Georgina formed and the things they both learned along the way. While the story remained clean, there was plenty of character development and substance to keep you interested. Courtney Walsh is becoming a favorite author of mine.

This one was just okay for me. I loved the overall idea, but the execution fell a little flat. I enjoyed the alternating character POVs in the chapters, and I loved how Kelsey in particular really learned to believe in and trust herself. The character growth in both main characters was good. I also felt like the dynamics between the two, even given the age gap, were also great. However, as a romance lover I felt the romances were lacking...a lot. I almost wish they'd been left out of the plot altogether because of how undeveloped they were. Also, Kelsey's whole plan was really out of line if you think about it. I had high hopes for this one and enjoyed many parts of it, but over all I didn't love it.

Look Courtney Walsh can do no wrong in my eyes. I don't know how she manages it but every single book she writes is funny, but yet makes you think about life and often makes me cry at some point. This book of course did all three once again. It's made me rethink what I'm saying No to, and I may just have a winter of yes!

This book should be on everyone’s end of summer reading list! Or anytime of the year really! There are a lot of beautiful messages woven into this story, and heartfelt moments. And I was crying by the end of it!

This story begins with Kelsey, who wakes up in a hospital bed recovering from being hit by a car. She is lucky enough to be sharing her room with wildly successful businesswoman Georgina Tate, who is there for her failing kidneys. Kelsey is inspired while she is in their room, and proposes an adventurous idea. Why not spend time saying “Yes” to everything they would normally not. She enlists Georgina to join her, because she sees Georgina has some lifelong regrets that have plagued her.

I love the back and forth between Kelsey and Georgina. Georgina is tough and set in her ways, and Kelsey somehow knows how to dig into the heart of her and encourage her. And I loved seeing the opposite unfold with how Georgina ultimately encourages Kelsey and how they breathes life into her again.

This really is a beautiful story. I had a hard time reading the kidney failing storyline, as I had my dad pass from this disease last year. However, there are no harsh descriptions of anything medical to read about, and there is hope ultimately surfacing in this story, so any reader worried about that can rest assured there is a HEA that Courtney’s stories always provide!

Enchanting and perfect summer read with all of the delightful feels and personal growth that you want in a summer book!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. What a great concept - say yes to things you would normally say no to. Very enjoyable characters.

This book was good, not great. I really wanted to love it, because I thought the premise of a summer of yes was so fun! Unfortunately, the characters seemed underdeveloped and contrived.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the ARC!

This author is fairly new to me. The writing reminds me a lot of Katherine Center's style, so if you enjoy her books I recommend reading this. While the story was cute overall, I had a hard time getting into it early on because not much was happening. I do think this is a great, bingeable easy beach read.

My 2nd book by Courtney Walsh and this was deep and also an easy read. I know it sounds contradictory. I meant that the writing is absolutely simplistic and realistic and story of Kelsey is what many of us realise is our story. The book dealt with so many important themes like self love, work life balance that it connected at a deeper level. What I loved the most was we hear a lot nowadays ‘Learn to say No’ and don’t give in to undue pressure at home and office. But this book explored the reverse theme and that is what can life be if we say ‘Yes’ to things which we generally say no to. The relationship between Kelsey and Georgina was endearing. Especially their funny banter at the beginning of the book. I really loved reading this story and looking forward to more of Courtney’s books.

A heartwarming and inspiring tale that beautifully captures the essence of stepping out of one’s comfort zone and embracing life’s unexpected adventures. The writing is engaging and filled with humor, and is a beautiful blend of heart, and a touch of romance.
Many thanks to Thomas Nelson Fiction and to Netgalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
