Possible spoiler alert: Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC of Nicole Trope's new book. I believe I have read almost all of this author's works and always look forward to seeing a new title coming out. This book wasn't honestly my favorite but it was a good quick read. The book follows Ava and Grace and how their lives begin to intertwine after Grace becomes Ava's assistant. We know that Grace did something terrible and was institutionalized for some time. Her daughter will not speak to her and we later find out her husband is dead and the way he died implicates Grace. We don't know why Grace applies for the job as Ava's assistant and what her motives are to help Ava in her marriage and her pursuit of the CEO position at her job until the end of the book. Ava herself is a bit of a mess with two young daughters and a husband who may or may not be cheating on her and who is an artist with what seems like little desire to do much but live off of his wife. When it all came together at the end it was a good wrap up to the story. I would recommend as I do all this author's books.

"The Assistant" by Nicole Trope is a riveting novel that centers around Grace and Ava, two women whose lives become intricately entwined. Grace, with a troubled past marked by poor choices, seeks redemption and a fresh start by taking on a new role as an assistant. Her new employer, Ava Green, is grappling with the pressures of her professional and personal life. As a wife and mother vying for a CEO position against a male colleague, Ava feels the weight of her responsibilities, compounded by a husband who contributes little to maintaining their household.
Ava hires Grace, believing her to be the perfect candidate. However, Grace's resume is falsified, and her motives for joining Ava's household are deeply personal. The story delves into themes of lies, jealousy, family, and corruption, weaving a suspenseful and engaging narrative.
The novel is masterfully written, with chapters alternating between Grace and Ava's perspectives, creating a tense and gripping atmosphere. The ending is particularly mind-blowing, with a twist that is both unexpected and satisfying.
What stands out most about "The Assistant" is its ability to keep the reader hooked from the very beginning. The pacing is impeccable, ensuring there is never a dull moment, making it an ideal book to devour in one sitting. Grace's character, despite her flawed past, remains relatable and compelling, and her journey of redemption is both heartfelt and inspiring.
This book is perfect for readers looking for a quick, easy, and thrilling read. With its well-crafted plot and complex characters, "The Assistant" is a testament to Nicole Trope's storytelling prowess.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing this advanced digital reader's copy in exchange for my honest review. "The Assistant" is set to be released on August 12, 2014, and it is definitely a 5-star read that should not be missed.

I would like to start by thanking Netgalley and the Author for allowing me to read this book in advanced.
The Assistant by Nicole Trope is a psychological thriller. This book had me hooked from the first Chapter. It is a dual POV from our main characters Grace and Ava , Ava is a mother who is trying to do it all , trying to be the best employee and best mother but how much can she handle when things just don’t go as planned ? Enter Grace, our assistant who is willing to do it all to help out Ava and make things easier for her but what is her ultimate goal ?
This book definitely had me wanting to keep on reading well into the late night , I felt shocked at the twists in this book. I enjoyed reading my first book by this Author and honestly will be reading her backlist. If you’re looking for a fast paced thriller that will have you wanting to read it in one sitting then look no further ! I absolutely enjoyed my time with this book!!

Ava has her hands full - juggling kids, running a home, a hopeless husband and a massive job. All while trying to get the promotion to CEO.
Grace is an assistant ready to make life easier for Ava. In more ways than one...... Grace is lying about something, but what?
The book alternates between Ava and Grace, and a diary entry to someone called "baby girl". We see glimpses of Grace's past and Ava's struggles with her colleagues and family. I thought Ava was really relatable and the story was well paced and interesting. It was the right balance of incredibly normal lives with dark undertones - that even the most boring of families can have terrible things happen.
It had so much drama and it kept coming - scandals, affairs, deaths, glamourous lives turned upside down. A really gripping read.
The ending was fantastic, I did not see it coming at all and thought it wrapped the story up nicely, while leaving room for a sequel (please!!).

Took me a little while to get into this book but once it picked up, I couldn’t put it down. So many twists and turns. The whole story was so interesting! I don’t think I’ve ever read anything like it before. I was really rooting for Ava and her husband. I wasn’t sure if I liked him at first but towards the end, I really started liking him. The twists at the end was wild! I didn’t see that coming at all! Very cool twist! I’d definitely read this again! I really enjoy Nicole’s writing and I’m looking forward to reading more of her books. Thank you NetGalley, Cole and Bookouture for the ARC!

This was a great book! There was just enough suspense to keep me hooked. And the scandals!!!! I found it hard to put this down. I love reading stories where you think you’ve got it all figured out and then bam! You are wrong! This was one of those stories for me.

Nicole Trope is one of my go to authors so when I saw this one come out I knew I was going to love it and I did.
The story centers on Ava, who has her hands full and needs an assistant, and Grace who becomes that assistant. Soon enough Grace insinuated herself into all aspects of Ava's life including her kids. What is exactly does Grace want from Ava?
You may think you know where this is going but you're probably wrong. This story went in a different direction than what I was thinking and the final twist was a true jaw dropper. This book is well written and easy to follow. We learn a lot about what makes Grace tick and why she is the way she is. I really liked both characters and thought they were both presented well.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC of this book

Ommgoooodnnnneesssss! Loved this from the beginning- the storyline had me trying to figure it out but to no avail. I can’t wait for my next read from this author. Thanks to Net Galley for the advance read #NetGalley#NicoleTrope #TheAssistant

The assistant by Nicole Trope was another amazing thriller by this very talented author. I went into it without reading the synopsis as I knew as soon as I seen it I was going to be in a wild read and wow I was not wrong. It was such a fantastic thriller with many twists and turns throughout I read it in a few hours I just couldn’t put it down. The story is told from the perspectives of Ava and Grace which helps build up the suspense from start to finish I was gripped and WOW what a twist at the end didn’t see that one coming. Overall another excellently written thriller from this author. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my advanced copy.

Read and reviewed in exchange for a free copy from NetGalley. This was a great read. The plot wasn't as I expected, and I didn't predict the final twist. Trope wrote the characters well and the story progressed at a good pace. I'd be interested in reading more by this author.

3.5/5
I’ve read a couple of the authors books before and I really enjoy her style of suspense, there’s a quiet subtlety to it that I appreciate. I was very invested in this one from the start, I was so curious about Grace’s intentions and wondered where it was all going. I continued to be engaged throughout, there were plenty of smaller twists and turns to keep my attention but the big final reveal fell a little flat and lost me a bit. When the characters motivations were exposed I was underwhelmed and had hoped for a bit more but overall this was still an enjoyable read for me and I’ll definitely continue to read the authors books.

Wow what an ending. I thoroughly enjoyed this Story. Talk about an excellent assistant who does it all and then some 😉. Will be watching for more from this author.

. I kind of guessed hslf way thriugh whst was happening, but wadnt sure due to all the twists and turns. Loved this and her other book is now on my read list...write faster nicole

The story is told from the POV of Ava Green –t he employer and Grace Enright – the assistant.
Story starts with Ava who is juggle her life trying to keep all the balls in the air – her family, her job, and plus the mental toll of being responsible for so much.
She loves her husband Finn and their two young daughters Hazel and Chloe but knows she is in her prime and ready to move up to the CEO position, Her assistant is out on maternity leave and probably will not return so Ava is in need a dependable assistant.
Grace applies for the position.
Grace Enright (not sure if it her as she appears to be is a con artist) walks into her interview with Ava has her made-up application in hand along with a resume of her work history as well fake references.
We do find out more about how Grace got into the situation of having to lie.
This story was nothing like I expected but I loved it
The ending, of course, has the Trope twist and left me with – Aww!!!!
This indeed was another WOW read!
This is my sixth Nicole Trope story. I love her psychological thrillers and look forward to the twists and turns and ‘Big Reveal’
Additionally I always love reading the Author’s Notes/Acknowledgements etc. In this case ~ ‘A Letter from Nicole’; where Ms. Trope provides us with a lot of information regarding her motivation.
She tells us that although most of us can relate to Ava’s situation but not many readers will identify with Grace. She goes on to tell us that she is looking forward to exploring what else Grace does as she moves forward and assures us that Grace will be back for a second book.
I don’t know the title but I can assure you it will be on my TBR list!
Want to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for granted me this Great early eGalley.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for August 12, 2024.

This one had me hooked from the beginning! There was not a dull moment, and the twist will have your jaw on the floor!
I had certain ideas about what this book would be about with the title, "The Assistant". I was way off but in a great way. The story we get is much better than what I anticipated. It is easily a novel that could be read in on sitting if you had no other obligations! There's never a point you just want to put it down and come back to it later. I would recommend this, especially for a relatively quick, easy and thrilling read!
Grace walks into Ava's life right when Ava needs her most. Ava is competing for the top job in her company, her marriage to her husband, Finn, is strained and she is shouldering the majority of the responsibility with raising their two girls. She needs help, Grace knows it and she is ready to do whatever she has to do to make life easier for Ava and her family.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for this advanced digital reader's copy in exchange for my honest opinion!

Oh my word. I was on tenterhooks throughout. I grew to love both Grace and Ava, my heart went out to them both for different the things they’d had to endure. Very much victims of circumstance and a little psychotic (in a good way), if I’m being honest. Alcohol and Grace did not go down well. I loved her internal thoughts, and how she handled her struggles following rehab. All that said I was never certain about what she would do and what her end goal was. A few twists and turns along the way, with a complete doozy of an ending that I did not see coming. Great characters and an entertaining and addictive storyline that I didn’t want to end. I loved every minute of it. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this advanced copy. This is my honest review.

Yet another fantastic book from this author. Grace comes into Ava's life just at the right time. Struggling with juggling family life with her work load Grace as her assistant soon helps to make her life less stressful. Other people in her life don't make it any easier her hubby for one then her fellow work colleague Colin who is after the same job promotion as her. She begins to rely on Grace much more and tells her things but Grace has other reasons as to why she went after the job of Ava's assistant.
Brilliant as always, can't wait for the next book.

This was a quick, easy read with twists and turns and an ending I wasn't expecting. I really enjoyed this story and the way the author wrote it. It kept my interest as I tried to figure out what Grace was really up to. I didn't see the ending playing out like it did which made the book that much better.
This was my first book by this author and it definitely won't be my last!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion which I have given.

I love anything Nicole Trope writes. She hit it out of the park with The Assistant. This one pulled me in right away with all of the twists and turns that I didn't see coming.
I really liked how well developed the characters were and also enjoyed the different POV'S.
What a great read!!

I’ve only heard great things about Nicole Trope books. This was my first read by her and it did not disappoint.
When I started this story I was convinced that I knew exactly where it was going.. boy was I wrong 😂. I was wrong about pretty much everything.
Very short read with chapters that will keep you from putting the book down. I thought the story was finished and wrapped up with a nice twist but of course that epilogue had another surprise.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
