What a group of unlikeable characters! The plot was a bit out of range of realistic but over all it was a good read nothing fantastic or twist and turning like I like but still worth a shot. I personally feel the ending is what kept me going and even enjoying this in the end

Yet another page turner that I couldn’t put down from Megan Lally! Her debut, That’s Not My Name, set high standards for me, and this book did not disappoint. I was on the edge of my seat for three quarters of the book. The characters were really easy to get connected to (even if they are slightly dislikable snobs), the setting was unique, and the suspense was killer. The only reason this did not get 5 stars was because there were some plot points that felt a little *too* unbelievable to me.

This book definitely has left me with conflicting emotions about the ending and the characters involved. Very easy to get through and I would recommend this read to anyone who enjoys a fast paced thriller!

This fast-paced YA thriller keeps you hooked with its dual timelines—Now and Before. While the twist may not be a huge shock, the story is still an incredibly enjoyable ride. It blends suspense with crazy moments that fans of YA thrillers will appreciate. I’ll definitely be recommending this to anyone looking for an entertaining and quick read. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an advanced reader's copy.

Ok now I get it! I heard so much hype about Megan Lally’s first book ‘ That’s no my Name’ so when I received the ARC for her second book ‘No Place Left to Hide’ I was super excited!

I couldn’t put it down and when I did I was waiting till I could pick it up again! The only reason it wasn’t a 5 star read was the last chapter (when you read it you might know what I mean)

I can’t wait to see more from Megan, I know it will be high on my TBR!

You know how you get so immersed in a book that you feel connected to the characters? Those times when you are truly invested in what happens to them. Those books that keep you on edge. Taking you on the adventure with them.

This isn't that book. You will not care one bit what happens to the pretty horrible people in this book. And to be so horrible as a teen...where do you go from there? Brooke is obnoxious even when she is trying to be charming. She worries more about her clothes than her friends. She's rich and uses her family to get what she wants. But then so is her nemesis. There are no winners and no losers between them.

It was a quick read and a little predictable. But not a terrible way to spend a few hours.

Wow- this author has blown my mind again with another 5 star read. She is another author that I will be putting on my must read list without reading the plot to the book.

I really could not get enough of this YA thriller - it kicks off right in the beginning and from the first page, it's a fast paced, page turning, suspense filled ride. I loved the dual timeline of the back and forth between months earlier events, and current day. This story is about Brooke Goodwin, she's perfect in all the ways - great looks, good grades, and extracurricular achiever - all seems golden in Brooke's world - except for 6 months ago, an incident happened and it shook Brooke's world. A boat accident during a party at her parents lake house, which took the life for her former friend turned enemy, Claire. Claire's brother blames Brooke - and ever since that day she's been getting anonymous phone calls and threats - so when 6 months later she attends her first party since the events took place, she starts to be followed home, Brooke is finally faced with the truth, and so are others around her.

This was an amazing book from start to finish - I couldn't get enough of this characters, the story line, the shocking twists. I was completely engrossed, never bored, and couldn't turn the pages fast enough to find out what happens next!

Big thank you NetGalley and to the publisher for the chance to review this book pre-release. I really had a great time reading this one. Ms. Lally has a great ability to write unlikable characters, and make you still feel invested in what's going to happen next to them. It gave off similar vibes to PLL & Mean Girls, but with a IKWYDLS twist. 3.5 stars

What a book! First, thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ebook in advance. Second, thanks to the author for such an awesome read! The story is about a group of high schoolers in their senior year. It jumps between the present and a party the main character, Brooke, throws at her lake house. The story unfolds as Brooke gets numerous harassing calls from an unknown number. You’ll have to read the story to see who the bad guy truly is, how far your friends and family will go to protect (or throw you under the bus.)

Brooke seems like she has the perfect life, even after “the incident.” She figures one party to celebrate college acceptances can’t harm anything. Until she is tailed and harassed on the way home by someone who thinks they know the truth about “the incident.”

I loved this author’s debut novel, but this one was unfortunately not for me. I had a difficult time investing in the story. The part where they were followed was exciting and that was about the only part I really enjoyed. I will still try the author’s next book. This one was a very fast read, so still give it a try.

“Suddenly we weren’t really friends anymore, we were rivals - sometimes at the expense of everyone around us.”

No Place Left to Hide comes out 1/7.

I did enjoy the past and present line to this story but I did find it be just a little slow to start. And when it finally picked up for me, it definitely had me hooked. Somethings I will say, for me at least felt a little too predictable. And I know these characters were suppose to somewhat be unlikeable, given they are in high school and going to college soon, but goodness the snobbery made them unbearable. One thing I found off with this that Brooke is suppose to be from what seems to be a super well off family, going to Yale and all that but yet she's driving a Subaru for a car. I know it fits the scene of where this book is based, but it doesn't fit the lifestyle the character supposedly has.

Even though I didn't love this book, I do think it could definitely be a fun read for beginners wanting to try the YA/New Adult mystery/thriller genre.

Thank you Sourcebooks Fire and NetGalley for a review copy in exchange for an honest review.

It so hard to put into words how good this book was. I could not put it down and ended up losing sleep trying to finish because I had to know the ending before I went to bed. I would consider this book face paced and will keep you guessing. Many times when books flip between past and present they can be boring and you want to go back to one of the time frames more. That was not the case for this book. It was so intense that I wanted to be able to be both in the present and past so I could know what happened while hoping nothing bad happens in the present. The book was well done and I enjoyed reading it.

This was a fun fast paced twisty YA thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat. This book was over the top and had pretty little liars feel to it, which I loved. The writing was engaging and easy to read. This was my first book from this author but I really enjoyed it and look forward to reading more from them in the future. I would like to thank NetGalley and the publishers for a chance to read this book for an honest review.

I read Megan Lally’s debut YA thriller, That’s Not My Name, earlier this year and it is one of my favorite fast-paced thrillers I’ve read this year. So I was super excited to get my hands on the e-arc of her second YA thriller, No Place Left To Hide.

In this so called “mean girls” thriller, Brooke is the popular overachiever at her high school and heads to a lake party after finding out she got into her dream college. She thinks this is just what she needs for a fresh start after a deadly incident that happened to her ex best friend. When Brooke leaves the party, she gets a very threatening call from someone who thinks she had something to do with the death of her ex best friend and when she’s driving home, soon realizes that someone is following her.

This book is told in Brooke’s POV and in two timelines. I did really enjoy this one. I thought the first 30% or so was a lot of build up and felt very YA. The main female character is also highly unlikeable. BUT as soon as you get past that first 30%ish it’s like a mad dash to the finish. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough and it was a super quick read (the book is <300 pages). While some of the twists and turns seemed a little far fetched, I did enjoy the suspense and didn’t guess the twist at the end. Overall really enjoyed!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

No Place to Hide is about Brooke, a girl with everything to lose; she has perfect grades, a perfect family, and the perfect life. The only thing missing is the perfect boyfriend. After receiving good news from her dream school. she spends the night at a bonfire surrounded by friends and her crush. Everything is finally falling into place--until the ride home. A strange car stalks Brooke and her best friend, the driver seemingly someone who knows the truth about the "incident" and hell-bent on dragging it out of her.

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this book. I really liked the intensity behind the actions the stalker took to get Brooke to admit the truth (though, apparently, some of them were accidents?) and it honestly felt like I was right there with them in the car at certain points. Still, it was hard to get into it character-wise, as they were all a little meh to me. My favorite, Brooke, was definitely the most interesting to me. Chloe, her rival, confused me. What even was her plan that night? Also, the list of 'atrocities' she inflicted upon Brooke didn't entirely make sense to me, as I felt Brooke could have just told her dad and he would have dealt with it. Oh, also, the stalker thinks Brooke has something to do with Claire's death at a party the previous year, but I thought Claire was horrible so I was just like... even if she did do it, who cares?

Other than that, though, I thought it was an amazingly written second book, and I'm definitely going to check out the author's first book!

PROS:

- i figured out who the person(s) behind the mask was near the start, but i actually liked this as i anxiously awaited brooke's reaction and the fallout that was sure to follow. also, going back to my notes at the start and rereading, it makes the way they acted make so much sense!

- i thought the book being split between the past and the present was a good idea, and i really dreaded whenever we'd have to enter a new chapter because the cliffhangers were so good!!

- the main character, brooke, was a type of character i'm not used to reading about (driven, knows what she wants, etc) and i enjoyed reading from her perspective.

CONS:

- there were a few plot holes that confused me, and weren't ever really explained, but they were minor enough to not change my view of the book!

- the big twist (if it can be called that) was very obviously laid out for us, to the point that i thought the author was trying to trick us and would subvert our expectations in the end. that didn't happen, which left me feeling a little disappointed. seriously, i don't want to give spoilers, but the person in question talks like a damn serial killer half the time.

Thanks to Netgalley for this arc. I had high hopes for this one but it just didn't click with me at all. Right from the beginning it was giving mean girls and it's just pretty basic and I just couldn't get into it. Teen drama which I'm here for but it as just kind of immature and not what I was expecting for a YA/Thriller. It's not bad but nothing great either just in the middle for me.

OMG this book had me on the edge of my seat reading feverishly needing to know what was going to happen next. I mean I was up late last night reading and early this morning I said I am going to finish this book today and I did. That's how good it was. This is definitely a re-read book.

Brooke has it all. She is living her life at the top of the chain of her high school. Senior year is going to be the best year of her life. She has applied to Yale and does all kinds of fundraisers and different clubs and the dance team. She has no time for herself. It is all about making her parents proud and trying to have a life after an accident happens that involves her and her family.

Then her best friend tells her she has to go to a beach party where her crush will be and all her friends celebrating their college acceptances. At first she says no but her friend wears her down and she decides to go. It is their that things start to go wrong and she has to leave because she has a curfew. It is upon leaving the party that things change real fast for Brooke. She is being chased by a car and then things get weirder and that is when her best friend asks her what really happened in that accident.

That is where things start to get good and this mystery has you reading fast so you can get to the end to find out what is really going on. This is a must read for 2025.

Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read this ARC.

I loved Megan Lally's debut That is Not My Name so when this came up as an ARC I had to read it!

This book revolves around good girl Brooke Goodwin who is the All-American rich girl. She is beautiful, popular, has great grades and has tons of extracurricular activities. She appears to be the perfect student and daughter until her world is shattered by an incident six months ago. A tragic boat accident during a secret party she was throwing at her parent's summer house. Brooke then has her tires slashed, receives daily calls from an unknown number, and has her car covered in newspapers with articles about the boating accident. Brooke decides to lay low and not tell anyone about the threats she has been getting. Her best friend Jena convinces her to go out to a party where Brooke's crush will be that that is when all the high drama fast pace story really takes off.

This story goes between the past and the present and it was easy for me to follow this. The tension is amazingly built up through the story which kept me hooked after the first few chapters. What really happened six months ago? Who is harassing Brooke even after the investigation is over? You find out in the end but it's not who you first expected.

About half way or three-fourths of the book I was pretty sure I knew who was involved in the harassment but wasn't sure. This is fast paced, heart-thumping thriller that will hook you right way. However, this book contains some of the most hatable characters ever, there was not one character that I was rooting for. My other problem, (maybe it's minor) is that Brooke is a rich girl right?! Her dad wears thousand dollar suits, she goes to this prestigious private school and she drives a Subaru? She should be driving a Mercedes or a BMW in my opinion.

Overall, if you like Holly Jackson (think Five Survive) or the show Pretty Little Liars then you will love this YA book.

Thank you to Netgalley and to Sourcebook Fire for this gifted eARC. All my opinions are all my own.

Thank you NetGalley and Sourcebooks for the ARC!

This was so good! I really enjoyed reading it, although it was a tad predictable, especially when things started to go down, it was kind of obvious who was behind it all. This was like Mean Girls meets 80s slasher film. It was addictive, and a quick read, because I couldn’t really put it down, but I just wish I hadn’t been able to predict the ending. Also, none of the characters were really likable, even the good ones. They were all on my nerves.

Overall, the book was really good, and enjoyable to read.
