I was so excited to be given the chance to read this book early! I loved her first one and flew through this one. It was fast paced and made you want to keep reading until you were done. I enjoyed the characters and the setting was in Oregon, and I knew a few of the places she mentioned. You can never go wrong with a high school setting and teenagers. Can’t wait to read another book by her if she writes another!

A YA thriller with mean girls vibes. Just how far will one girl go to ensure the downfall of her archnemesis? You'll be asking that question throughout this story and about multiple different characters of girls at this prep school.

No Place Left to Hide follows Brooke who works hard to maintain perfect grades, looks, and a perfect life. Especially after "the incident" threatened it all. Getting into her dream university offers her a fresh start. Her friends are throwing a part and she decides to go. After the party is over an old truck starts aggressively tailing Brooke and her best friend. Someone thinks they know the truth about "the incident" and they won't stop until it is all in the open. This drive brings out Brooke's worst fears. But she needs to survive.

This is Megan Lally's second book and the second one I have rated 5 stars. This is how you write a thriller! This was so good. This book had me on the edge of my seat. It has the perfect amount of drama and action. To be honest I did not know who to root for, which makes a great thriller in my opinion. Also, the ending of this book 10/10 no notes, I did not see that coming!!! Megan Lally is becoming my go-to YA thriller author. Do yourself a favor and read this one.

Thank you so much, Megan Lally, Sourcebooks Fire, and Netgalley for the ARC of this book. This comes out on January 7.

No Place Left to Hide is a captivating, emotionally charged novel that keeps readers on the edge of their seats from start to finish. The story follows a protagonist trapped in a web of deception, where trust is elusive, and every decision carries weight. Lally’s vivid writing and strong character development draw readers in, making each twist and turn in the plot feel both suspenseful and personal. The book masterfully blends moments of high tension with quiet, reflective passages, allowing for deep emotional connection with the characters. Themes of self-discovery, resilience, and the lasting impact of one’s past are skillfully woven into the narrative, making it more than just a thriller but a poignant journey. For fans of gripping stories with complex characters and an unpredictable plot, No Place Left to Hide is a must-read that will resonate long after the last page.

This was an ARC from NetGalley. I became a fan of Megan Lally with her debut "That's Not My Name", and the amazing twist. I was hoping this would be very similar, but this story did not hit the same. I will say it is a very fast paced read that gets right into the action. Unfortunately, several of the twists were predictable, and the story is lacking in the build up of the why for character motivation, or it just seemed silly to me. It is just entitled, whiny, high school girls. I finished feeling a bit disappointed. Ok read, nothing memorable. #netgalley #noplacelefttohide #vengeance #ya #queenbee

The last 80% of this book is unhinged. Unhinged, Itell you!! And in keeping with that theme, I abruptly haulted a late night reading binge 30 minutes before the end to go to sleep even though I wasn’t particularly tired just to prolong the vibes.

That being said, I was deeply annoyed throughout most of this book. While reading, I went from thinking “Is this main character kind of unlikable?” to “Oh no. She is VERY unlikable.” to “Is this the most delusional self aggrandizing person to never walk the earth?”

Her father is a lawyer but she acts like his potential nomination to a county judgeship somehow makes them untouchable American royalty? The entire town acts like they’re the freaking Kennedys or something. It’s really very strange. Throughout the entire book, Brooke and her friends say little taglines about her family CONSTANTLY. It’s truly overkill. No pun intended. I was shocked to see that Goodwin was only said 66 times in the book because I felt like it came up on every single page. Here are just a few:
- [ ] Goodwins are always composed
- [ ] Goodwins aren’t cowards
- [ ] Goodwins don’t drool, they don’t chase, and they don’t make themselves look like lovesick idiots.
- [ ] Goodwins are always in the public eye
- [ ] Goodwins must exceed the standards set by ourselves and others.
- [ ] Targeting a Goodwin is an objectively bad idea.
- [ ] In this county the Goodwins have the furthest to fall.
- [ ] A Goodwin’s word is basically law in this county.

One tiny plot hole that really felt like a giant crater to me was that when Jena said she couldn’t find her phone, Brooke immediately jumped to “I’ll just buy you another one” instead of “oh hey. No problem. I’ll try to call it and see what happens.” Like any normal humans being would do. And it felt especially weird for Jena to even bring up her phone in the first place because (SPOILER ALERT!!!) if Jena was using her phone to secretly record the car ride while digging for a confession, WHY would she bring attention to her phone at all??? That could’ve completely derailed the plan.

One other very minor nitpick that really felt so out of place: there were almost no pop culture references but when Brooke gets punched, Jena says she looks like Shayne from Love Is Blind. First of all, what does that even mean? And second of all, why?? What did that add to the book?????

I kept thinking throughout the book “do I even like this?” But listen. I devoured it, didn’t I?

Megan Lally might be the new YA thriller queen. After reading her debut, I quickly wondered, “what the HECK did I just read?” And I meant it in the best way possible. Picking up No Place Left to Hide, I had HIGH expectations, and it’s safe to say they were met.

Brooke has everything going for her. She’s popular with the boyfriend of her dream, an acceptance to an Ivy League school, but she’s still facing pain after The Party that she threw a year ago. When her best friend finally convinces her to go to an end-of-the-year party celebrating all the Ivy-accepted students, things take a turn for the worst.
Brooke’s past is coming back to haunt her, and now her life & her best friend’s are both potentially at stake.

The meat of the book includes action packed scenes involving a car chase, secret threats, police involvement, and So. Much. More.

Megan Lally’s style is unique with an unreliable edge and a promise for a devastating ending that will have you clicking the 5 star rating button faster than your heart is racing. Maybe you’ll shout, “WHAT THE HECK,” and throw the book across the room. Then, you’ll want more Megan Lally on your shelf immediately so you can go through the process all over again.

Lally goes a great job with tone, and her characters jump off the pages. Even adult readers can dive into a Lally book with an understanding that they, too, will love her style. It’s captivating, steady-paced, and hard to put down until you reach the end.

Fans of Chelsea Ichaso, Cindy R.X. He, & Alyssa Sheinmel will absolutely fall in love with this stunning sophomore YA thriller from Megan Lally.

After absolutely devouring and obsessing over Megan’s book, That’s Not My Name, last December, I was eager to see how she would follow that up! She delivered another propulsive thriller that once again had some insane twists! It has been awhile since I read a book in a day, because I can’t sit and concentrate that long without needing to get up and do things for the kids! But this one had my full attention! The dual timelines were equally enthralling, and I couldn’t finish each chapter fast enough to know what happened in both timelines to connect these stories together! The characters were awful, which is my favorite in thrillers! They’re spoiled, rich, entitled, brats who have everything they want and no consequences. I would say if you like Jessica Goodman books you would enjoy this one!

Brooke was sort of unlikeable and this novel had a few plot holes. However, by the end I did like Brooke and was rooting for her to beat the caller at their own game.

This was an extremely high paced thriller that I felt like I couldn't put down!
It is a dual timeline between the present, when our main character Brooke seems to be getting her life together. She has gotten into Yale and her best friend Jena has convinced her to go to a party for the first time since "the incident." Brooke has been getting threatening phone calls and has had her tires slashed among other things. She has no idea who is doing this.
We then get the "before" when Brooke was the queen of the school. She has the party beach house, she has all her desired places in school - dance team captain etc. Her ex best friend turned rival, Claire, has moved away and she is in the clear to go for her crush Dylan who is Claire's ex (even though Brooke liked him first).
It's obvious we are going to learn about whatever bad thing happened slowly through the before parts. We get a slow lead up of how the night of that last party goes and how it ends. But the real page turning part is the present. After Brooke and Jena leave the party, Brooke's mysterious phone caller actually starts talking to her and telling her that she needs to "confess to what she's done," but Brooke hasn't done anything. On a lonely stretch of highway, a car starts following them WAY too close. There's no service, or people anywhere. Will this driver push her off the road? Will Brooke confess to something she hasn't done just to get this person to back off?
(I feel like the rest might spoil some things, so read on with caution if you don't want to be spoiled anything)
So I absolutely hated Brooke, like to the point where I felt like I just didn't want to finish. She started out as someone I think we are supposed to like. She is not close with her parents partially because of what she did in the before. She is the victim of these calls and threats. But as we go on and learn more about her, she honestly becomes so unlikeable. In the before it's the same way. She is the victim of Claire's bullying and Claire even shows up at her party uninvited and ruins the whole thing. But we learn that all of this is Brooke basically manipulating everyone (even if she doesn't really know it - or we are lead to believe she doesn't know it). This ends up being extremely intentional and I actually ended up loving rooting for her downfall.
The before and the present really lined up well and gave us enough information to keep us guessing and intrigued all the way through and were perfectly timed to reveal exactly what was needed at exactly the right time. The general idea of what happened was kind of obvious, but I really couldn't stop reading until I figured out exactly what happened.
The ending was great. It was thrilling and wrapped up really nicely.

NO PLACE LEFT TO HIDE is an explosive thriller featuring Brooke, who is a high school senior with a secret she desperately needs to hide. Set between two different timelines, this story tells the tail of how present Brooke is on her way home after a party, driving with a friend, when someone starts aggressively tailgating them. Suddenly, the drive seems endless and what appeared to be a harmless night out turns out to be anything but. We also follow past Brooke as she hosts a party at her family’s lake house, and the events that unfold that lead to what happens in the present.

If you’ve been following my reviews, you already know I absolutely despise dual timeline books. There’s something about them that makes reading them so tedious. I always end up preferring one timeline over the other which means reading the timeline I least like always feels like a chore, and not one I’m particularly eager to get done. But I was eagerly surprised when I read this, and I didn’t dislike the dual timelines. Is this growth? I found both timelines equally as interesting and there was never a moment where I felt like it was a slog to get through one timeline just to continue reading the other.

Both timelines are fast paced, which allowed me to read this within a day, as I was hooked and did not want to put it down for anything. I also loved Brooke’s character, as I feel like it is very rare to come across a character like her, so unapologetically herself. It was a breath of fresh air as I love when I’m reading a mystery and the plot twist turns my expectations on their head completely.

I would have maybe liked to see more development of the antagonists in the present timeline, as Brooke is being chased by a masked figure and while we do find out who they are at the end, we never actually feel Brooke’s betrayal in the form of her speaking with these guys. It’s just brushed over and I felt like at least one conversation may have enhanced this book even more.

Regardless, this was a fun, fast paced mystery that I truly enjoyed. I read Lally’s debut right before I read this and I enjoyed that too, so I’ll be eagerly awaiting Lally’s third book.

Thank you, NetGalley, for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

“There’s no way to stop.
There’s no way to call for help.
We’re going to die out there."

These three sentences perfectly describe how adrenaline-packed this book is. Brooke’s life looks perfect from the outside—she’s a straight-A student at a prestigious school, with dreams of attending Yale after graduation. But coming from a family that demands perfection, she’s under constant pressure. Just as things begin to feel normal again after a tragic accident at their lake house, Brooke starts receiving unsettling messages. Who is behind the pranks? And what do they know? 👀

I loved the timeline shifts after each chapter; they added a unique layer to the storytelling. While some of the plot twists were a bit predictable, the overall journey and the ending made it a thrilling read!

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Fire for the ARC! 🫶🏼

So this was one was fun. That’s my first thought. I read it in less than 24 hours because it was gripping and exciting. Was it silly at times? Yes. (Sucks to suck). Were there plot holes? Yes. (Claire is good Claire is bad Claire is nuts Claire is a hero). Was some of it entirely unbelievable? Yes. (Oops didn’t mean to do that with the Bronco). But was it an absolutely fun ride? Also yes. It was enjoyable and I wouldn’t hesitate to read something else by this author.

This book was a nice read. It was fast paced, loads going on and kept me guessing about what was happening throughout most of the book.
The characters weren’t the most lovable but I didn’t mind it as much as this is a book that doesn’t give you time to think too much about the people as you’re focused on the book!
I would recommend it for a younger public (15-18years old) as it did feel a bit immature for myself.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this book in exchange for my honest review

This book is a FANTASTIC YA thriller!! Trust me, you will not believe the ending/twist of this story. It was crazy. Megan Lally certainly knows how to keep a reader hooked! If you are looking for a fast paced YA thriller in 2025, I highly recommend this book. I do think it is best to go into this book blind so I will not be sharing much about the story, but just trust me...you definitely need to pick up this book!

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a fantastic read!

So many plot holes--yet I DEVOURED this book and was immersed in how awful of people each character was. Tons of deception and bad decisions in this book, perfect for older young adults looking for a thriller/suspense. Mystery--not so much. You might quickly guess who the perpetrators are, but it doesn't spoil the ending regardless. Recommended for fans of Jennifer Lynn Barnes and Jessica Goodman.

That was insane! Lowkey guessed the involved party, but the ins and outs of the plans were more diabolical than I could have imagined!
Brooke Goodwin is trying to coast through her senior year with no more drama or negative attention drawn to her. That's hard to do when you are being stalked and harassed by someone who thinks you have something to hide.
Six months before, Claire Heck died in a tragic boating accident at the Goodwin’s lake house. But someone knows something about that night and they are convinced Brooke isn't telling the truth.
Convinced to go out partying with her friend, Jena, after learning that Brooke got into Yale, she agreed. It was time to blow off steam. The night was perfect, she got the school, she got the guy, and she was headed home finally free. That is until the calls started again, but this time they left a voicemail. Confess or die…
So twisted! I loved every second. It was well paced, well timed with information. You have characters you can really hate in here, characters you can be truly shocked by, and there are surprises around every corner.
Highly recommend this one! Reminds me of Holly Jackson's Five Survive. Both are very intense books.

This was a good, twisty YA novel. I have not read any other books by Megan Lally but I will read more by her in the future. I did not guess the final, big twist and that made made the story even better

3.5 ⭐️ and rounded up: once I started reading, I didn’t want to put it down. No Place Left to Hide is a fast paced, dual timeline book, going between the present and the night of the accident when an old classmate and friend of Brooke dies. There was a lot of drama in this book, and every time my sister looked over my shoulder, someone was calling someone else a bitch lol very mean girls!! But entertaining nonetheless. I did find the twist to be predictable, but it was still pretty good.

As author Megan Lally said in her afterword, second books are HARD! Both my teen granddaughter and I loved her debut novel, That’s Not My Name, so my expectations were high. While I thought most of the characters were unlikeable or blank slates, the plot flowed well and as tension mounted it was fairly exciting. The alternating Then/Now chapters were a bit jarring at times, and I didn’t completely buy into the conclusion, but teen readers probably will- and will certainly enjoy the ride.
