I just finished reading this book. The plot was absolutely fantastic! It was quite the page turner, and I could nor put the book down once I began reading it. I cannot wait for it to be released. I will recommend it to everyone.

Party of Liars was so my kind of thriller—messy secrets, rich drama, and an eerie mansion with major haunted vibes? Yes, please. Kelsey Cox absolutely nailed the twisty “everyone’s lying and I’m obsessed” energy. I devoured it. Total page-turner..

I really like this book. A great job on a debut novel. I liked the multiple points of view and I did not see the twists coming.

Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martins Press, and Kelsey Cox for the opportunity to read this ARC!
The ending left me STUNNED. The story was incredibly written, with so many complex relationships that you think you have figured out, only to be left blindsided. While there is 1 death in the immediate story, you don’t find out till close to the end who died, and go through a whole maze of tangled webs to reach the conclusion.
Incredibly written, sitting here in shock. 5⭐️

A Sweet Sixteen party, a glittering house on a hill, a gathering of people whose lives (and lies) are intertwined. This is the setting for one twisty, smart thriller by an author I will definitely be adding to my must-read list.
I really enjoyed the way this story was revealed through the perspectives of the different characters. I would just begin to think I knew where it was going when that perspective would shift and a new layer of the plot would be revealed. The story came together in a very satisfying way and I couldn't stop turning pages until I knew how it turned out.

This book revolves around Sophie's sweet sixteen celebration, narrated from various perspectives throughout that single day, with plenty of flashbacks sprinkled in. The party takes place in a lavish mansion that has a sinister past.
The guests are a fascinating mix of Texas elite, each harboring their own secrets. Right from the start, we learn that a murder will take place, but the identities of the victim and the murderer remain a mystery.
I really liked exploring the different viewpoints and uncovering the characters' potential motives. Could they be the killer? Or perhaps the victim? It took me a little while to get hooked, but once I was, I was fully engaged. Everything ties together nicely at the end, and I appreciated the unexpected twists. Overall, it was a delightful debut!
A big thanks to the publisher, the author, and NetGalley for providing this Advance Readers' Edition!

Thank you to Kelsey Cox, St. Martin's Press, and NetGalley for providing me with an ebook copy of Party of Liars for me to read and review. This was a complicated, tense, twisty, and slow burn story. There is a huge cast of characters and a number of excellent red herrings along the way. Cox did a compelling job of keeping readers hooked dropping tiny hints and tid bits of information along the way until the unexpected reveal at the end of the book. Definitely a great read!

Thank you for the opportunity to read an arc! I absolutely devoured this book. I knew reading what it was about I NEEDED to move it up on my TBR. So glad I did

I couldn't put this down! This story was told by multiple characters, which is usually don't like, but it was so well done that I couldn't wait to read the next chapter. What a great twist at the end!!

This is one of those books where you hate all the characters and you think everyone could have done it. I loved the multiple view points and how the stories intertwined. I loved the story and the writing style. This book had me guessing and changing my mind the whole time and I was very satisfied with how everything played out. I would highly recommend this book and will definitely read more by this author! Loved it!

This was a lot deeper than I expected! At surface level it’s a story about a party that goes awry with a gothic hint of the supernatural. Of course who are the real monsters?
With themes of secrets, loss, alcoholism, the challenges of parenting, and gaslighting and multiple povs, Party of Lies was a propulsive, impressive debut.
Would definitely love to read more from this author in the future!

Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press, and Minotaur Books for the ARC! All opinions are my own.
The (haunted) house on the hill is opening its’ gates for a Sweet Sixteen, and you’re invited. The Matthews’ daughter Sophie is the girl of the moment, and her father Ethan has spared no expense for his daughter. They say everything is bigger in Texas, including murder. When the party’s crashed by a body falling from the balcony, the guest list turns into a suspect list.
There’s Dani, Sophie’s stepmother and new mommy, who’s questioning what’s real since her daughter’s birth. Órlaith, the Irish nanny, who has a story for every warning and situation, as well as a superstitious sense that things aren’t right in this house. Kim, Sophie’s mother, and Ethan’s ex wife. A woman haunted by the past, using alcohol to drown out the noise. And finally Mikayla, Sophie’s childhood best friend, who is finally realizing how hard it is to live in her bestie’s shadow.
This was a fun murder mystery set at a Texas birthday party in a haunted mansion. With four different perspectives, Kelsey Cox keeps you guessing as more and more details get revealed. A great first impression, can’t wait to see what else Cox has up her sleeve!

Party of Liars mainly takes place during Sophie's lavish sweet sixteenth birthday party at her father and stepmother's ginormous mansion perched up high on the hill. Everyone in the town has shown up, mostly to snoop inside the recently renovated mansion upon the hill-- a mansion fraught with intrigue and rumored to be haunted by 'The Mother'.
With a premise like this, author Kelsey Cox builds on the eeriness and suspense, introducing us to a handful of characters, all seemingly harboring secrets of their own. The story is told in alternating POVs between Dani (Sophie's young stepmother and new mom of baby Charlotte), Oralaith (the suspicious Irish nanny), Mikayla (Sophie's insecure best friend), and Kim (the grudge holding ex wife/Sophie's mom). The storyline bounces around between 'before', 'during' and 'after' the party, which helps build the multiple storylines, eventually converging into one satisfying conclusion.
We learn in the very beginning that someone has fallen to their death during the busy party, similar in fate to 'the mother' decades before, but we do not learn who has died and who may be the killer until the very last chapters. The weaving of multiple storylines and timelines was ambitious yet executed brilliantly by Cox. The author planted seeds of doubt and suspicion throughout this slow burn of a psychological thriller across an entirely unlikeable cast of possible victims and/or suspects. While a few things I suspected along the way came to fruition, there were still many more surprises that I didn't see coming by the time I was finished.

4.5 rounded up because this a very impressive debut! Distinct, alternating view points throughout the day of the party lead us up to the penultimate point - a body plunging from the balcony. But whose body? And why? I thoroughly enjoyed this one. It’s a good premise, somewhat of a mix between a psychological thriller and a domestic drama, with a tiny touch of a creepy ghost story. What really stood out is the writing. It was so easy to tell whose point of view you were reading, I almost didn’t need the name at the top of the chapter. Plus, there are just some really thought provoking lines on mothering, friendship, and addiction. And the Texas of it all was just a bonus. It’s always fun to read a book set in your area that actually gets the setting spot on. Shout out to HEB!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a digital copy and a chance to read this one early. All opinions are my own.

Looking for the perfect summer escape? Look no further than Kelsey Cox's Party of Liars. This fast-paced and twisty thriller expertly unfolds the events leading up to Sophie's Sweet Sixteen through the alternating perspectives of compelling characters like her mother Kim, father Ethan and his new wife Dani, the observant nanny Orlaith, and Sophie's best friend Mikayla. Cox masterfully weaves a tale of jealousy, manipulation, and the struggle to overcome personal demons, keeping you guessing about the victim and the culprit until the very last page. If you enjoy suspenseful narratives with well-developed characters and shocking reveals, Party of Liars is a must-read.

3.5 stars!
Although the story was slower paced and I felt that the author spent too much time on some of the character's back stories, it was an enjoyable thriller.
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC!

I love a good mystery book, so it was pretty easy to want to request this one. It's been a while since I read one with multiple points of view, and so that was a real stand out feature of this book. It's always fun to wonder which characters you can trust and to wonder who exactly is telling the truth. This was an absolute perfect example of that.
Each of the characters brought something different to the story, and their unique perspective kept me engaged. I would get to the end of one chapter and want to know what was happening with them more, so I would have to keep reading in order to find out. However, then the next perspective would keep me just as engaged. It made for a read that was very hard to put down.
Sometimes, with a mystery, I'm able to guess what will happen next, but I can honestly say that this one kept me completely guessing. I fell into the trap of trusting the narrators too completely and they duped me. I was suspicious of the wrong people, and I really did not expect the outcome of the final story. It was very well-plotted.
I think that my favourite perspective to read from was Dani's. I found her the most interesting with how she felt that she was going mad because of the way she was being told that she was going crazy. I really felt for her when no one was willing to believe her in what she had seen, and then simply dismissed her. However, the other characters were just as interesting and just as compelling.
Overall, I had a great time reading this book. It was so fun and twisty. If you like compelling mysteries, I highly recommend this one.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book.
The title proves to be very accurate. The book ultimately revolves a lavish sweet sixteen party, all the guests and per the title it all unravels. It contained quick chapters from different characters POV. The timeline jumps around to fill the plot and add suspense. If you happen to be from Texas, you’ll appreciate all the references to make it unique to the state and San Antonio.
With all that, I enjoyed the book but I think it became too long. It was apparent that everyone at the party played a twisted role however after a while, I was ready for it all to wrap up. The ending didn’t floor me but matched what became suspected halfway through the book.
Light thriller, minimum language and sex. Focuses on mental health, Inappropriate relationships, medication abuse and the struggles of being a new mom. 3.5 stars

3.5 stars Plot - An over the top Texas Sweet 16 party where someone dies - fast, fun book, perfect for a beach read. My favorite character was Orlaith and her constant stories of doom, I can just picture a person like this. All of the characters are fairly shallow but since they all had something to hide, it wasn't bad. Pet Peeve - multiple POVs combined with multiple timelines. I would recommend to anyone looking for a short escape book.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

3.5 it was good until it wasn't.
The writing was good, the plot was interesting enough to hold my attention while also moving slow as heck but the characters were bad.
There were some good red herrings thrown at me but ultimately it ended exactly how I thought it would. I wanted something way more dramatic.
Thank you to the publisher for an advanced copy!
