I love this book so much!! The way these two main characters and this relationship developed was amazing. This relationship can technically be considered a whirlwind romance because of how quickly it came together. However, it did not feel rushed or unrealistic. The pacing of the story was so well done. I appreciate how she truly got them to work through their personal hesitations and fears…and even renewing their faith as well. There was lots of fun and misadventures throughout the story. I even started to understand the Scottish dialect by reading through this book.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I was given an ARC of this book by NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Rom-Com is not my usual genre of a read, but I decided to give this cute looking book a try. I had a very hard time getting into this book. It just wasn't capturing my attention like I would have hoped. I had a lot of trouble with the spelling because I was trying to talk like an Irish but am not one. I did like that the author was true to their faith and proved you can have write a romance without having to add adult scenes.

I absolutey adored this book. Everything about it just worked completely for me. I loved Katie--her personality and her fears and her quirks just made her such a fun and relatable character, and her backstory made her believable and endearing. Graeme also stole my heart--his worries and his reactions were also believable. I appreciated how both characters were willing to do some self-examination and try to grow and not just hide away. Despite being a homebody at heart, all of the descriptions of Scotland (and the Scottish words thrown in!) made me want to book a trip to see the beauty of the country for myself. I also adored the supporting characters (at least, the Scottish ones. Some of the other participants in the Edwardian Experience had me shaking my fist at them!) All in all, this book was just delightful! I loved it. I'm definitely going to have to snag the audio version as well because I'm sure it will be even more fun to listen to!

I read a DRC provided by the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

Thank you net galley, Pepper Basham, and Thomas Nelson publishing for an E-ARC of this book.

What a SLOW, SLOW burn love story between two people who has both suffered family loss. Katie is a travel blogger/writer and who travels to scotland for an Edwardian experience. During her trip she meets many locals, including a handsome, grumpy Scotsman.

This was a sweet story but just not my type of love story. It really took a long time for the characters to even start to form a budding relationship. I could have done without the Edwardian experience too. I loved the descriptions of Scotland though!

A 5* Rom-Com With All the Things!

A bookshop, a granny book club, a Scottish manor house, a weasel (both animal and human), a dancing butler, a hairy coo (read the book to find out what this is) and (yes!) a Pepper Basham closet kissing scene…to name a few things I love about this book! This fun romp also has endearing characters and a sense of family I’d want to come home to.

Other things I love about this book? The heroine, a ginger-headed travel writer, Katie Campbell, is larger than life (no pun intended) who can’t live up to her mom’s expectations, is beyond accident prone and in need of a hero to save her in more ways than one.

Enter Graeme MacKerrow, a “handsome but grumpy, barrel-chested, blue-eyed Scot” who is closed off, owing to grief and hurt, when Katie “falls” into his life.

This fun story shifts between the two MC’s (first person) POVs, which in my book (ha! pun intended) adds to the fun, thanks to knowing what’s going on in both of their heads! I chuckled a lot and might have even cried at the end (it was stellar!).

This book is suitable for teens and older with no inappropriate intimate scenes and no bad language. I received this book from the author/publisher free of charge, with no expectation of a positive review.

“Some Like It Scot” by Suzanne Enoch is a delightful Highland romance that brings together adventure, humor, and sizzling chemistry.

Tne story follows Munro “Bear” MacLawry, a rugged Highlander with a reputation for charm, who unexpectedly encounters Catriona MacColl—a fiery, sharp-shooting lass in trousers—hiding out in the Highlands to escape an unwanted marriage- I mean this book had me HOOKED.

Their initial clash evolves into a captivating tale of mutual respect and undeniable attraction. Enoch’s engaging writing style and well-drawn characters make this a standout in the Scandalous Highlanders series. If you’re a fan of spirited heroines, dashing heroes, and a romance that sizzles amidst the Scottish hills, this one’s for you.

I felt a bit duped by this one. The cover, description, etc. didn't lead me to believe whatsoever that it would be heavily Christian and that's ultimately what it was. Since I was gifted the ARC I wanted to give it a fair shot regardless, but after a few too many references to God and heaven followed by a nudge to join someone's church rather than a kiss... I simply had to DNF.

I thoroughly believe that stories find their intended reader and that there is someone who shares those same Christian values who will see themselves reflected within this story. That person, unfortunately, was not me.

This book was the palate cleanser I needed after a high-fantasy novel! Ever a sucker for a good rom-com,(especially when a grumpy Scot is involved) this exceeded my expectations. Maybe I’m a tad biased because I’m also a clumsy, somewhat nerdy Katie myself, but you should definitely give this book a read for the banter alone. Thank you so much to NetGalley for the arc of this book, I will definitely be purchasing a physical copy!

This offers an immersive reading experience that transports readers straight to the heart of Scotland, one of my favorite places to visit. The author's descriptive writing makes it easy to feel as though you’re walking through the Scottish landscape alongside the characters, which is one of the book’s standout features.

The main female character (MFC) is kinda relatable, with many qualities that feel familiar and endearing. However, her plotline often takes a turn for the absurd with a series of over-the-top, ridiculous circumstances that happen. While this adds a certain charm to the book, it did at times feel a bit much.

The male lead, a damaged and hurt character, is undeniably cute but didn’t quite make me swoon the way I hoped. His vulnerability is clear, but there wasn’t that deep connection I was expecting.

This is a Christian romance, and the second half of the book delves deeply into themes of faith. For readers who enjoy stories with strong faith elements, this will likely be a highlight. However, for those who aren’t as drawn to these themes, it may feel a little heavy-handed. *I myself did not realize this was going to be super heavy of the faith piece* I think the synopsis needs to be updated.

I did find myself skimming in parts, especially when the plot turned toward the MFC’s podcasting/social media journey or the MMC’s career developments. These aspects didn’t resonate with me, which made those portions of the book feel less engaging.

Overall, Some Like It Scot is a charming read for those who enjoy faith-based romance with a beautiful setting. If you’re someone who appreciates Scotland, Christian themes, and a lighter, sometimes silly romance, this book is worth picking up.

There are a variety of reasons why I decide to try a book. Sometimes it's the blurb. Other times it's the author. In Some Like It Scot's case, it was because I saw the main female character is tall.

Humor abounds in this book, primarily because Katie is a world class champion at attracting catastrophe. I related so much to her: her height (although I'm five inches shorter than her 6'1"), her clumsiness, and the immense awkwardness that comes from growing up towering over almost everyone. There's more to Katie than her catastrophicness, though. She's a kind and caring soul doing everything she can to protect her wounded and battered heart.

Enter Graeme. I am so, so, so happy this is not a "short girl ends up with the tall guy" situation (because, frankly, I'm beyond sick of reading about it). It was so gratifying to watch the adorable romance bloom between the two.

Most of the secondary characters are great, too, excluding Mark the Menace. He's not great. He's on the Seamus the Highland Cow level of nasty (if you know, you know).

The plot is fun, touching, and well-paced. There is a light sprinkling of faith and I really enjoyed the church scene.

There are few content warnings: emotional manipulation by a secondary character and some sabotage by another. There is a possible instance of the Lord's name taken in vain.

In conclusion, with a hearty dose of humor, a nice dose of slow-burn romance, and a gentle sprinkle of faith, Some Like It Scot is a fun, heartwarming story that will both make you laugh and encourage you to remember God's purposeful design for making everyone unique.

I picked up Some Like It Scot because I’m a big fan of both Scotland and romance, so this seemed like the perfect combination.

However, I failed to notice beforehand that this is Christian Fiction—a personal oversight on my part. Since this isn’t a genre I typically enjoy, I likely wouldn’t have chosen this book had I realized.

The setting was lovely, and I liked the protagonist, but as the story progressed, I found myself losing interest. The number of side characters felt overwhelming and I struggled to stay engaged in the second half.

While this book wasn’t for me, I can see it being a fit for readers who enjoy faith-based romances with a strong sense of place. If that sounds like you, this may be worth checking out.

I received a complimentary readers copy from galley! The opinion given is my own on this book! I really did enjoy this novel. It’s been a life long dream of mine to visit Scotland . I found myself at many times vividly seeing the landscape . I have always wanted to be a travel blogger so I definitely felt a connection with the main character Katie from the beginning .

In comes the love interest and swoon! What a fun read with lots of banter and slow burn romance!

This is the first book I have read by Pepper Basham and now I cannot wait to read more by her. Characters are fun, the story line kept me intrigued, and laughing out loud. I thoroughly enjoyed Katie on her Miss Adventures, I really enjoyed the cute honesty of Lachlan, and loved the "Hot Scot" Graeme and how he treated Katie. The times when they rescue each other is sweet & fun. This is the perfect beach read! Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

4.5 stars. This was a cute story. I loved the setting and the descriptions of Scotland were spot-on. It’s magical. The author did an excellent job capturing the accent and Scottish-isms; a lot of times American authors seem to really botch it and make it sound unnatural.
I enjoyed the main characters and their families, but the Edwardian Experience and related characters could have been made more interesting.

This book is perfect for a cozy and light reading to take you company for some hours. At the same time it's an hymn for Scotland landscapes and Highland's life. I really appreciate this kind of realism, and for sure it was something that made me go on with my reading.
Unfortunately, the romance is flat, and didn't emotionally involved me at all. I missed the sparks and the chemistry between the main characters, so for me it's a no.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved watching the blossoming relationship between the two main characters, especially how Katie was so easily integrated within Graeme’s family. She was such a relatable character and I was really rooting for her happy ending. I absolutely adored the world building and descriptions of the settings. As someone who loves Scotland, I really felt like I was there with her the whole time. It definitely made me want to book a trip to Mull asap.

This is the first book I have read by this author but it absolutely will not be the last. Characters are well developed, the plot is intriguing throughout, there is so much humor, and in general it is just a well put together story. I laughed along with Katie on her Miss Adventures, I thoroughly enjoyed the sweet honesty of Lachlan (Graeme's nephew), and loved the "Hot Scot" Graeme and how he consistently cared for Katie. The moments where they rescue each other physically, emotionally or socially are all well crafted throughout. I will definitely be back for more, and am likely to add this to to reread pile for another day. Do yourself the favor and get this one asap!

Some Like It Scot by Pepper Basham is a fun and adorable romp in Scotland that no one should miss. Katie, who is know professionally as "MIss Adventure" for her perilous travels is invited to a 3 week stay at a castle in Scotland. In true form, she manages to get tangled up, literally, with the owner of the castle, Graeme and in finding each other learn lessons about what it means to search for what is truly important in life and what a home can look like. I adored this novel and although it's listed as a Christian novel it wasn't too preachy as many can be.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for my honest review.
