I was privileged to receive an early copy of Some Like it Scot from the publisher through NetGalley, and was enthralled with the grumpy hero and accident-prone heroine. These two main characters, Graeme and Katie, were a perfect fit, and when you add in Graeme's lovable family, including a precocious young boy, you have a fabulous story full of wit and wonder. I'm really hoping Graeme's brothers are going to get stories of their own. Oh! The knitting circle at his mother's bookstore is fabulous, too. These characters jump off the page—they're so lifelike.
I'll be honest, I was initially a little put-off by the Edwardian era adventure Katie attends at Craighill House. With the book being set in my ancestral Scotland, I would've preferred something with a Scottish theme, but somehow Pepper Basham pulled it off. Hilarious comical moments abounded thanks to Katie's klutsy but lovable nature and a parrot named Merlin.
So far, I've read The Mistletoe Countess, The Cairo Curse, The Juliet Code in her Freddie and Grace Mysteries series. Authentically Izzy, Positively Penelope, and Loyally Luke in her Skymar series. I also read Just the Way You Are and Jane by the Book. As long as Pepper Basham keeps writing books, I'll keep reading them.

I enjoyed the humor in the story as well as the way the main character Katie comes to accept and value herself in a different way. The first person narration made me feel like I really knew her. Of course the setting in Scotland was a huge plus to the story and added a lot of interest. Grumpy Graeme was perfect for the story as a romantic interest. Overall a solid offering by Pepper Basham.

Katie & Graeme’s journey to happily ever wasn’t an easy one, but worth it. I loved their banter and chemistry.
I voluntarily reviewed this book.

For Katie, mishaps and misadventures follow her all over the world and have made her a wildly popular travel writer. When the opportunity arises for a trip to her grandfather’s native land of Scotland, she is quick to accept. Katie's time in Scotland gives her plenty of content to write about. But she never envisioned the way she would connect to this beautiful, rugged land. Something is so different about this place than any other country she has visited. Something that resonates deep within her soul and leaves her longing for "home". She never put her roots down in one place for long but will a handsome Scot and his wonderful family change her life forever? Finding a forever home is something she has only dreamed about. Is this the place of belonging her wandering soul has been looking for?
I usually really enjoy Pepper Basham's books but unfortunately, this book took me a really long time to get into. While some parts of the story were exciting, some of them were very slow and drug out for me.
The Scottish dialect took a little bit to get accustomed to, but once I did, it really did enhance the feel of the book. Also the author did a wonderful job with her word pictures and descriptions of Scotland. It felt very realistic and sounds like a place I would love to visit!
* I received an ARC of this book fromNetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own!

Pepper Basham outdid her spectacular writing performance with this book, Some Like it Scot. This book was the perfect blend of Scottish nostalgic coziness mixed with a humorous, modern, love story. I greatly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who loves Scotland, romance, and humor. I give this book 5 stars for enjoyability. I received a complimentary review copy of this book.

It's a 5 🌟 read!
The inclusion of Scottish phrases delighted me and provided a glimpse into Scotland, which I always find enriching. Then add a handsome Scottish man, yes, please!
I thoroughly enjoyed this heartwarming and uplifting story. With just a few charming kisses, it delivered a sense of depth that truly resonated. The themes of navigating past loss while growing in faith and personal growth were beautifully portrayed. It emphasized the importance of opening oneself to love and discovering that not everyone will disappoint you; the right person will inevitably come along. I appreciated the representation of a loving family, which added so much to the narrative.
The witty and playful banter throughout kept me engaged, making it an outstanding read overall. Thank you @thomasnelson @netgalley for the eARC.

Katie is an infamously accident prone, American travel writer, who has been tasked with covering a three-weeks-long “Edwardian experience” in Scotland. Of course, upon reaching the attraction’s destination, Craighill House, Katie meets a handsome, seemingly grumpy Scot in hilarious meet-cute fashion.
What an absolutely adorable book! I couldn’t have loved Katie or Graeme more, and the rest of the characters on the island were so charming. I really hope that we get more stories about Graeme’s family someday. (Please, Pepper, please!)
This sweet/clean romance is more than a romance–it’s also an exploration of home and grief. I love it when an author can explore and discuss deep topics while telling a fun story.
If you’re looking for a clean romance full of witty banter, an amazing and scenic setting, laugh-out-loud funny moments, family, light faith themes, and an absolutely PERFECT ENDING, look no further.
On another note, I sort of want a Highland Cow now.
Highly recommend!

Thank you NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for a free digital copy of Some Like It Scot by Pepper Basham.
MC, Katie Campbell, travels the world as a writer and podcaster. However, she's never really had a place to call home after the loss of her grandparents. Katie is a very relatable character. She's clumsy, awkward, silly, self-conscious, but kind. She travels to Scotland for work to experience an Edwardian reenactment experience. There she meets a grumpy Scot named Graeme. I truly enjoyed this clean, sweet and lovable romance. I likewise enjoyed the Scottish setting. It made me want to visit like Katie. This is a fun quick read, and I totally recommend it if you're looking for a book to make you smile. This was my first book by Pepper Basham. I loved it and can't wait to read more!

There were two major reasons why I wanted to read this book. The first being that it was written by Pepper Basham who is one of my go to authors, you know the who you want to read each and every book that they write. And the second reason being that in 1997 if I traveled to Scotland with 36 members of my family and I wanted to see if Ms. Basham mentions any of those places we visited while we were there. And she does mention a few of those places. But it also made me long to go back and go to some of the other things that she talks about. And I'm so thankful that I have a book that will take me there since I don't like to fly.
I found myself reading this book with my very poor Scottish brogue, but I just couldn't help myself. And I can't wait to listen to the audiobook once it is released, I just hope that they have a good reader, and someone's brogue is better than mine. I would love to see this book made into a series and maybe a meeting with the Edgewood's of the Skymore books.
Thanks to Net Galley, Thomas Nelson and Pepper Basham for allowing me to read an advance copy of this wonderful book.

This novel offers an irresistible combination of wanderlust, romance, and self-discovery, all set against the stunning backdrop of the Scottish Highlands. Katie Campbell, a restless travel writer, embarks on a three-week Edwardian experience in Craighill House and finds more than just material for her next article. The story promises both a physical and emotional journey as Katie navigates themes of belonging, grief, and love. Ultimately, this story seems like more than just a romance; it’s an exploration of the many ways we define "home" and find our place in the world.

Some like it Scot had me laughing out loud at travel writer , Katie’s mishaps . She really has a knack to get into crazy situations which makes her stories so real, honest and hilarious .
Katie goes to a Scottish house for an Edwardian three week experience . She dreads going as it’s really not her “cup of tea” . She continues to run into Graeme really everywhere she goes . Probably because his family own the home she is staying at .
Graeme is a large , gentle Scottish man with an awesome endearing family that draws Katie quickly in.
The story was fabulous keeping my attention and interest the entire time . Well done !

omg!! i honestly didn’t think i would this book that much but it was so good. Katie was so easy to relate especially since we’re both free spirited and love traveling!! i adore this definitely gonna check other books from this author

I received an ARC copy from the author and NetGalley. This was my first book from Pepper Basham, I wasn't sure what to expect. But I had a really fun time with this book! It had a lot of the elements and feelings of a rom com that I enjoy, but it also was more than that.
For the main characters, Katie and Grehem it was very real and uplifting to see the growth that they made throughout the story. I like how the author portrayed dealing with grief in healthy ways.
My favorite theme was the idea of home. I enjoyed seeing Katie's journey of discovering and identifying what and who a real, safe, peaceful home is for her. I personally resonated with this process. I think it is something that many others can also relate to.
I also have to say that I really loved all the side characters. I enjoyed reading about them as much as the main characters. They also demonstrated what good, healthy community is like.
And the overall atmosphere of the book was great. I really could picture the Scottish country side and really would love to see it in real life.
I am hoping this will be a series because I would love to be back in this world and back with all the characters. I'm also excited to check out other reads by Pepper.

I want to thank Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read and review this arc.
I loved this book. It was so sweet and swoony. honestly, you had me at a single dad, but he's also scottish. i loved graeme. i loved watching his emotional journey through everything in his past and finding peace with his future.
love lingers long
i loved this quote. so simple and yet so impactful. i don't want to get too deep into it because i think this book is definitely worth a read! i can't wait to buy it when it comes out!

This book had me laughing from the beginning! I’ve had the pleasure of traveling to the Scottish Highlands and this book truly captures the beauty and majesty of the country. Katie and Graeme had a beautiful love story that developed as they both grew and navigated their own grief. Loved all the misadventures especially the Highland coo!
I would have liked an indication that this book had religious themes as this is not something I personally like and was kind of caught off guard by. Looking in to the other it makes sense but I hadn't anticipated it!

Modern day vs Edwardian times set in none other than Inverness, Scotland. I love Outlander, so guessed at the get-go that I would love this book too. When the author referenced hearing Sassenach from Jamie Fraser, I laughed out loud while travelling on the public bus. I am from South Africa and appreciated the reference to Africa. This is a truly enjoyable, charming book. I found myself crying a few times, but it is equally as funny. So captivating and it had hooked from the very beginning. I loved it.
I received a complimentary copy of this ebook through Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This is a slow burn and I felt like it didn't really get going strong till the second half, when the main characters start to interact more. At that point the story really takes off! I loved both main characters, Lachlan (cute little nephew), the puns, the Scottish setting, and the MMC's sweet mom. No third act breakup is very nice too!

“’So the question does come back to what sort of person are you? And what sort of person are you willing to leap for?’”
Some Like It Scot by Pepper Basham is a clean, Christian romance novel about Katie and Graeme. Both are emotionally struggling after the death of a sibling. Those wounds aren’t easy to heal and lead both Katie and Graeme to have trouble finding their way romantically.
Peppered with Scottish language, stories, and culture, this book is a charming, low angst novel. It reads kind of like a Hallmark movie. There are captivating characters and funny situations that keep it entertaining. I especially loved Katie’s connection with Mirren and Lachlan.
At times I struggled to empathize with Katie because she was over-the-top self-deprecating, and this is coming from an admitted perfectionist. All the Scottish slang, especially on Katie (an American’s) part felt a little like watching a Giada De Laurentiis cooking show where she throws in Italian words in an exaggerated accent to get attention.
If you love a cozy, clean read, you’ll enjoy Some Like It Scot. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I love love love Pepper's books and this one might be my favorite yet! She has an amazing ability to write the quirkiest characters with crazy situations that are just so crazy you can actually see them happening. Not gonna lie it kinda made me want to do an immersive experience in some old castle like place. It legit sounds fun!

Pepper is back with her delightful, yet deep look at life. This is Mr. Grumpy meets Ms. Sunshine romp through Scotland. Both have suffered loss that scars them, yet now they're trying to find a way forward. Katie's has left her traveling, never slowing long enough to miss home or anyone. Graeme's leaves him stuck at home, deeply reluctant to leave. Yet both are hungry to love and be loved. There's a richness to the way they see the world and each other that is sweet and endearing. There's also the trademark humor and spicy kisses that I've come to love and appreciate from Pepper's books. I can't wait for the next in the series. I'm all for a return trip to Scotland.
