My third book by this author, and so far they have all got 5 stars from me! This was a fun read with plenty of laugh out loud moments, but also had lots of lessons that were learnt. The two main characters are twins, Alice and Edie. Whilst they look the same, they couldn't be more different. Alice likes her routines, looks after her husband and children's every needs and there isn't a thing out of place both in her home and her life. Edie is the complete opposite and lives her life flying by the seat of her pants. Nothing is organised, everything is done on impulse and she has no rules for herself or her family. As they grow further apart they decide to switch lives to see how the other one lives...

I really enjoyed this book! I like both Alice and Edie and whilst both have flaws in their characters, they also both have lots of redeeming qualities. However initially I did lean more towards Edie's life with it's chaos and lack of planning and organisation and did think she seemed to be the more "fun" twin!! I loved it when they switch lives though and I was hooked into the storyline by this point. Whilst in real life you would like to think their families (especially their partners) would have realised they weren't the right twin, it was fun to watch them try to keep their secret from everyone.

The storyline is told from both character's perspectives and it flowed along really well. There were lots of fun moments throughout the book, but it was interesting to watch Alice and Edie change, grow and accept each other. Even if you don't like them both at the beginning, you'll certainly warm to them both by the end. It was also interesting to watch the supporting characters (husbands and children) change as the storyline moves on. There are certainly lots of things learnt by all the characters throughout. It was a lovely, warm, lighthearted read which I thoroughly enjoyed and will look forward to reading many more by this author.

I feel like I'm the odd one out when it comes to this book and I'm absolutely gutted. I really loved the sound of this one but just couldn't get on with the characters sadly!

Is the premise of adult twins being able to swap lives and nobody noticing a bit far fetched? Yes, absolutely, but it didn’t stop me from really enjoying this book. It makes you realise that you can’t judge someone else’s life because you really don’t know what it’s like behind closed doors. I liked that the sisters were able to change their opinions about each other and learn from their experiences. A good bit of lighthearted fun.

I read this book as an advanced reader copy through NetGalley. It was a cute read about two twin sisters who have a bet and switch lives for a little while. They learn so many lessons along the course of time they are living each other’s lives . It’s a must read for anyone with a sister!

The premise for this book is that identical twin sisters change places to discover more about each other and learn to like each other again (they'll always love the other, but liking has proved difficult lately). Alice has a perfect life, but works hard at it - making her own food, running around after husband and children so they do nothing, keeping down a job, maintaining her high Instagram following. Its exhausting. Edie flits through life, taking it as it comes, having fun, with a lovely partner Seb, but they struggle financially.

What happens when they switch and see the realities of the other twin's life is most interesting. While (as the sister of identicals) I don't believe no-one saw through the switch since no twins are absolutely identical (well, one person did twig it) it was an interesting experiment. And when each stop just observing and start interfering to improve the other's life, it becomes very complex.

I liked the family dynamic and the switching, which easily could have descended into farce, was handled well. Overall a great summer read. Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for allowing me access to the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I'm married to an identical twin so I was very intrigued by the premise of this book.

Alice & Edie may be identical twins, but of course, they're nothing alike. The idea to switch lives to see how the other lives is interesting as a kid but just can't be done as adults. Especially as they're both in long term relationships.

It doesn't make sense that they did it, and for so long. 10 days and the significant others didn't figure it out? Sure, they noticed things were different, but c'mon.

I did enjoy the book, and I loved how the sisters came together in the end. I just found the plot completely ridiculous.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you to Avon Books UK, Charlotte Butterfield and NetGalley for allowing me to read an ARC of The Sister Switch.

I really enjoyed this book. Alice and Edie are so relatable to anyone who has siblings (even more so this with sisters). I loved how they began to understand each other after stepping into their shoes, and Seb and Dad were really lovely additions to the story.

Edie and Alice are twins and pretty much identical in looks. But their personalities and lives couldn't be any more different. When their jobs as agony aunts on a TV show are threatened because the pair keep bickering, they decide to switch lives and walk in each other's shoes.

I loved this one from the very beginning, I just didn't want to put it down. I binged the first half in one sitting. This definitely gave "Parent Trap" as adults sort of vibes and it was very entertaining.

I loved Edie from the start and was rooting for her, and once the story progressed and we saw a lot more of Alice's back story I found myself warming to her too.

The book was very funny, but also touched on some tougher issues for sure, neither twin had the easy life the other believed. It was heartwarming, fun, and a super enjoyable read. I definitely recommend this one.

Twins who have grown apart swap lives for a week to walk in each other's shoes. They find out more than they bargained for and change each other's lives in the process.

This was a very moving story about how people can fall apart, and then come back together. How even twins can lose their way from one another, and lose sight of the love they share between them.

The characters were well rounded, lovable, and realistic.

A huge thanks to Avon Books UK for my complimentary copy and all opinions expressed are mine.

This was an interesting read that made me think of the Parent Trap but for adults. The book follows twin sisters who after one heated argument conclude that neither one of them can last a day as the other . Do note I used the word day loosely. What follows is a journey of self discovery ,respect and healing. It was a well written and witty read.

Rounded up from 4.5⭐️

This was such a fun book! As a huge fan of the Parent Trap and Freaky Friday, I had a feeling I was going to love this and I was right.

I loved going into the lives of both sisters and how opposite they were. I have to say I definitely related more to Edie's chaotic nature than Alice's pristine house. There were some really funny moments and I loved watched them both try on each other's lives.

I also enjoyed how it went deeper than just a surface level swap, showing some issues in both families. While at some points the messages did feel a bit too obvious, it still highlighted some important issues with male and female roles.

Would definitely recommend this one!!

I really loved this book and it reminded me so much of a grown up version of The Parent Trap! The storyline was really fun, good to follow and was relatable at points within the story. The dual perspective worked really well, as it gave us better insight into each of the sisters and the updates within their switched lives.
Alice & Edie were such opposites of one another, but it was so nice to see the development for each of them and their relationship also. After the swap, the story ended for each of them how I wanted it to and it really made me smile.
The story had some real emotion and important topics along the way, but this was also broken up with humour and I found myself laughing along throughout!
The writing style was so easy to follow and I immediately became invested in the goings on with Alice & Edie and I really enjoyed the journey they went on together.

The Sister Switch is a heartfelt journey between two twins who learn more about each other and discover the parts of themselves that have been neglected for too long. In the early pages of this book, I had doubts that I was going to enjoy it. I found Alice's character to be incredibly irritating and didn't feel that I would root for her at all. Boy, was I wrong! Once I reached "the switch," the book had me hooked. I quickly began to sympathize with Alice and realized that there was a much bigger "villain" that had a major role to play in Alice's earlier behavior. I also loved the character of Edie. I found her to be fun, relatable, and always enjoyed reading her perspectives. I would highly recommend this book! Although I felt as if it starts off a bit slow, once "the switch" happened, it was packed with drama and fun. I was very pleased with the ending as well and felt that both characters had the perfect amount of growth and self-realization through the story.

This book introduces us to Alice and Edie, twin sisters in looks only! Their personalities are so different and they struggling to even understand each other. Their arguments were typical sister arguments and I really liked reading how their opinions of each other changed when they swapped. It brought a whole new meaning to the phrase ‘walk a day in my shoes!’ Plenty of laughs, POVs from both Alice and Edie and characters you start to really like! I found the character development fantastic and I really started to want the best for them both.

The Sister Switch by Charlotte Butterfield was such a heartwarming, hilarious, and unexpectedly touching read—I absolutely devoured it. As someone who loves books about complicated family dynamics, personal growth, and a good dose of chaos-driven humor, this one hit all the right notes.

The story follows two sisters with completely different lives who decide to swap places—and what starts off as a fun, Freaky Friday-style premise quickly turns into a thoughtful, emotional exploration of identity, fulfillment, and the bonds that tie us to the people we love (even when they drive us a little crazy).

Butterfield’s writing is sharp, witty, and full of heart. I laughed out loud more than once, but there were also moments that genuinely made me pause and reflect. Both sisters felt fully developed, with strengths, flaws, and inner worlds that made me root for them as individuals and as siblings. Watching them walk in each other’s shoes—and learn from it—was both entertaining and deeply satisfying.

This book reminded me why I love women’s fiction: it’s funny, relatable, and sneakily profound. If you enjoy stories about sisterhood, second chances, and rediscovering what truly makes you happy, I can’t recommend The Sister Switch enough.

identical twins alice and evie work together and live near each other but their families are worlds apart

but when their job is threatened they each wonder how they can save it.... but as their personalities clash their only hope is one that their mother use to make them do... they would take on each others identity and try and walk in each others shoes

this book is a lighthearted yet thought-provoking story about two sisters, Alice and Edie, who are TV personalities and polar opposites. When an on-air argument puts their careers at risk, they make a bet: neither of them could survive a week living the other’s life. As they secretly swap places, what begins as a playful competition soon becomes a revelation. Both sisters are forced to confront the complexities of each other’s worlds—whether it’s work drama, family issues, or marital struggles. As their rivalry shifts into a deeper understanding of each other, they discover that sometimes walking in someone else's shoes can change not only their perspective but their life for the better.

Would you ever want to trade places with your sister? What if you made a bet with a sibling – could you last longer than your sibling if you switched places? Who would win? Charlotte Butterfield explores this concept in the funny and heartwarming book called The Sister Switch. It’s like The Parent Trap version for adults!

My Thoughts on The Sister Switch:
This book made me think a lot about my two older sisters. We all live very different lives. One’s life experiences is not better than the other, they are just different. Fortunately, we get along great. I’m glad we lead different lives. It gives us a chance to cheer each other on, and it’s fun to hear their stories and experiences. Would I want to switch lives with them like Edie and Alice? Well, maybe just for one day.

I enjoyed this book because it made me think. I could see parts of Edie in my sisters, and parts of Alice too. Charlotte Butterfield does a nice job of truly showing the characteristics of both characters. The book comes with a life lesson, but if you have ever seen The Parent Trap movie, then you can probably figure it out.

Another reason I enjoyed this book was because it was a light read. Sometimes, it’s nice to get away from the psychological thrillers, true crimes, the drama, and just read a fun book. This one would be great to read on vacation.

If I had to choose the life of one of those characters, I would definitely choose Edie’s. I’d take the doting boyfriend and wacko-jacko family life over the “picture-perfect on the outside” family any day of the week. But it was their sister relationship that truly stood out. No matter how hard things get in life, you should still be able to count on your sister in the end.

So, would you want to trade places with one of your siblings? Let me know.
