Second Chance at Sunshine Inn by Amy Clipston
Thank you @amy_clipston, @harpermusebooks and @uplitreads for the #gifted book. All opinions are my own.
Second Chance at Sunshine Inn is small-town grumpy sunshine goodness with a sweet romance and plenty of heart. Everleigh inherits half of a charming seaside inn from her godmother and heads to Coral Cove ready to sell. Cade, the broody co-owner, was left the other half and has no interest in walking away.
The coastal setting adds just the right vibe as these two clash, bicker, and slowly start to care way more than they planned. Between family drama, stubborn pride, and a town full of nosy charm, this one kept me locked in. It’s sweet, it’s warm, and Cade’s soft side sneaks up on you. I’d absolutely stay a few nights at the Sunshine Inn.

Second Chance at Sunshine Inn by Amy Clipston is a sweet romance that is quick to read. If you love Hallmark, you'll enjoy this one. I will say that I do prefer my romance books to be "clean" or closed-door, sweet rather than steamy and this hit the mark for me in that regard. However, that is all that I enjoyed about this book. I haven't read any of Clipston's Amish romance books, but I have seen her contemporary women's romance that she's put our recently and thought that they would be right up my alley - maybe this one was just not for me. I plan to pick up another one and give it a go, but if the writing and dialogue are the same, then that will be it for me. I found this to be extremely juvenile for characters that were supposed to be in their mid-30s. I found that the FMC was childish, whiny, and very pushy which is a bit off putting for me. I cannot imagine myself or any of my girl friends being so brazen to interfere in someone else's life without being asked. It turned me off a bit to see how Everleigh acted and interjected herself into Cade's life. She was extremely pushy and complained a LOT. The MMC was a little bit better (but not by much). I felt like the two had the same exact argument on repeat throughout the book and nothing was really solved or discussed until the VERY end. This one read a little like a clean YA novel and if you told me these two characters were in HS I would have believed it. Also, as a faith based or inspirational genre novel/author/publisher there was very little talk about faith in it.
Now, there are a TON of higher rated reviews, so I encourage you to check out some other reviews and try this book for yourself. As stated, it is a great grumpy/sunshine romance with no spice/steam, and if you love Hallmark, you will definitely enjoy Second Chance at Sunshine Inn by Amy Clipston.
Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest thoughts.

Oh I loved this book! Everleigh and Cade find themselves as unexpected business partners when they inherit Sunshine Inn from a good friend. They initially both have completely different plans of what to do with the inheritance. They strike a deal in the beginning, and arguments and sparks fly. Add in an unexpected family member showing up, and more strife enters their lives. I really liked the discussion of healing from scars from past relationships and in learning how to trust again after being hurt previously.
Overall, this is a fantastic romance. I read parts on my Kindle and also listened parts on the audio book. Both formats were enjoyable! Thank you to NetGalley for the advance reader and listener copy of this book. A review was not required.

This was a very sweet and entertaining second chance story with a charming seaside setting and wonderful, relatable characters. I loved how the heartwarming story unfolded and the relationship builds up and grows between Everleigh and Cade. Amazing writing! This book makes for an entertaining beach read with satisfying twists and a happily ever after. It had everything I wanted in a great book!

SECOND CHANCE AT SUNSHINE INN is a heart tugging story filled with grief, loneliness, heartbreak, and love that will hold you hostage until the very last page. Once I started this heartwarming story, it was very hard to put down! Amy Clipston isn’t afraid to write about subjects that tug at the readers hearts. Oh, as a warning to the reader, keep the tissues handy and do not read the ending in a public place unless you don’t mind crying in front of strangers! I’m so excited to continue catching up on all of Amy Clipston’s previous books.
When I hear that Amy Clipston has a new book coming out, I run to it. SECOND CHANCE AT SUNSHINE INN is exactly why! Everleigh learns that her godmother has left her the Sunshine Inn when she passed away. Everleigh is thrilled, that is until she realizes that she will be co owner with the handyman, Cade Witherspoon. What could possibly go wrong? Cade tells Everleigh he wants to keep the inn up and running. Everleigh wants to sell it and start a non profit! Hee haw, hang on readers! This is going to be so much fun!
Amy Clipston has created a wonderful story filled with beautiful families and characters. She is so amazing at what she writes, no matter if it’s Amish or contemporary fiction. Her descriptions of each setting had me feeling as if I were right there in the inn giggling with the Cade and Everleigh. SECOND CHANCE AT SUNSHINE INN was a quick read for me because I had a hard time putting it down once I started. I found myself cheering for Everleigh and hoping she could get Cade’s walls to come down. I love the way she never gave up on him no matter how hard he pushed her away. They also butt heads more often than not and I just wanted to shake the both of them. Most of their bickering and arguing was because they didn’t tell each other how they were feeling or what they were thinking. Communication is a big problem for them!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Thomas Nelson through Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

An opposites attract trope with a little family drama, on both sides, and some soul searching thrown into the mix. A little something for everyone in this one. As a traveling NICU nurse, Everleigh Hartnett is broken hearted to learn that her godmother, Alana, has passed away. Everleigh has inherited half of her godmothers B&B. She wants to sell the inn to have money to fund the nonprofit she and her godmother wanted to create, The other half has been left to the caretaker, Cade Witherspoon. And he doesn't want to sell. The B&B is his second chance at starting over. They are at stalemate as to what Alana meant for them to own the B&B.
As they work together sparks start to form between them. They both loved Alana, and want to do what they think she would have wanted.
This is a sweet clean romance with wonderful characters, good dialogue, and a beautiful setting on Coral Cove. Second Chance at Sunshine Inn is well written, and a delightful summer read. Amy Clipston has written a meaningful story that tugs at your heart.

The setting is serene. A small coastal town in NC where two people, who need each other, jointly inherit an inn.
I was Team Cade from the start. He cooks, rides a Harley, and can fix stuff!
I did want to shake him at time because of his pigheadedness regarding his mother. I thought I knew the reason behind her refusal but I missed it.
Everleigh is a Miss Fix It Pollyanna but I thought her plowing ahead to sell the inn was wrong and she definitely was wrong to interfere with Cade’s family issues.
It’s a warm-hearted story with character development and there is a happily ever after!

Second Chance at Sunshine Inn is the second book I’ve read by Amy Clipston. This book is a clean grumpy/sunshine romance that takes place in a small-town.
Everleigh Hartnett is a traveling NICU nurse who returns home after the passing of her godmother, Alana.
Cade Witherspoon has been working for Alana at her Inn and assisted her while she was sick.
Everleigh and Cade are complete strangers who become owners of Sunshine Inn when Alana decides to leave both of them half of it. Little do they know that there is a very important reason for why Alana left them the Inn.
I really liked how Amy wrote Everleigh and Cade’s characters. Their opposite personalities really balanced each other out, which made their story enjoyable to read.
Overall, I think this book was well written because it’s a heartfelt story of following your heart and fighting for what matters most to you.

One half inheritance meets two different dreams, who will gain and who will lose? Everleigh and Cade view their co inheritance as leading too their futures. Will they be able to find a compromise? Or will this road lead to neither finding what truly matters? I love how these characters are written each showing the raw emotions that come from hard situations. As they fight for what they want, they find more in common than they first realize. Often the compromise is somewhere in between as with life. Amy Clipston does a masterful job of delivering a true second chance novel. I wish the story had never ended. I received a copy through Netgalley. A review was not required.

"Second Chance at Sunshine Inn" is a fun enemies to lovers/opposites attract book by Amy Clipston. I enjoyed the characters, the story and especially the setting. There are misunderstandings and others trying to get in the way of a HEA for these two, a traveling nurse and a guy that's been working as a handyman at the inn hoping to keep running it as his future. They don't always communicate well leading to misunderstandings and lots of drama but anyone that likes Hallmark type movies and romances is sure to enjoy this book. It was a bit slow for me at times but I did enjoy the story though it took me longer than most to finish because it was a slower read for me.
Thank you to Thomas Nelson Fiction for the opportunity to read an ARC of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

This was not my favorite book by Clipston. Everleigh was so annoying. She had her mind made up and wouldn't listen to anyone. She was self-centered and determined to get her way. She was quick to jump to conclusions. About the only thing I liked about her is that she was a NICU nurse who cared about the parents' needs. As a mom with a son who spent a lot of time in the hospital, I'm well aware of the hardships associated with long hospital stays. I appreciated her dedication and her desire to meet needs with a nonprofit.
I liked Cade. His dedication to Alana and to keeping the inn open was admirable. I didn't agree with his plan per se. I really wanted to try his cooking and stay at the inn and see the plans for the inn come together. I appreciated that both Cade and Everleigh were close with their families.
Thank you to Thomas Nelson for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Such a great book! I really enjoyed it.
I received an ARC copy of this book and all opinions are my own.

Rating 3.75
Two people with different plans for the inn, will they reach to an agreement? I enjoyed the small beach town vibes and it kept me on my toes trying to guess what was going on through the story and some characters. I loved the side characters.
Though in some occasions I was annoyed with the FMC. I found her a bit selfish and naive in some occasions. There was some poor communication between the characters which caused some misunderstandings. Overall it was a light and quick read.
* It's a closed door romance.

I enjoyed this sweet grumpy/sunshine romance. Everleigh and Cade were left the Sunshine Inn by Everleigh’s godmother Alana. The challenge is they have never met and are at odds about what to do with the Inn. Everleigh sees it as a sign to sell and use the profits to fund the nonprofit she had planned with Alana while Cade wants to keep the Inn and grow it as he discussed with Alana. Together they have to figure out the future and sparks fly as each is convinced that their solution is what Alana wanted. Adding to the turmoil the characters were feeling was each was facing a family drama. Plus each struggled to figure out what they truly wanted and to communicate it. The setting, a small coastal town, added to the sweet feel. I recommend this sweet romance to readers that enjoy grumpy/sunshine romances filled with miscommunication and family drama.

When Alana passes away she leaves her beloved B&B to Everleigh and Cade as co-owners. Everleigh wants to sell it to use the money to start her own non-profit, but Cade wants to keep it as is.
It took me three attempts to read this book and I found myself skipping pages to get to the end. Everleigh's selfishness and Cade's moodiness made this novel hard for me to enjoy. If you like slow paced, predictable romance novels then you'll like this one.

Everleigh Hartnett and Cade Witherspoon inherit a B&B known as Sunshine Inn, but the catch is they are co-owners. Both wanting two different things for the property, they will need to find a compromise so that both can see their wishes fulfilled. Getting there is the beautiful plot of this story.
Cade had been very hurt by his ex-fiance and he put up such walls that it was heard to see beyond his scowls and grumbles at first. He had a tender heart and really did what he could to help Everleigh overcome a fear she had since she was a young girl. By having her trust him he in turn could begin to trust Everleigh.
Things to look forward to:
dual POV
opposites attract
NICU nurse
motorcycle ride
beachside
small town
“Promise me you’ll find your sunshine. Don’t keep your heart forever.”
If you enjoy enemies to more and slow and steady paced romance, you should consider this story. Readers of all ages will want to grab a favorite drink and a cozy place to read Everleigh and Cade’s story.

☀️ grumpy x sunshine
🏩 clean romance
🛎 forced proximity
Everleigh is a happy and bubbly NICU nurse but her contract just ended. She is now in Coral Cove for the funeral of her godmother Alana. At the attorney’s office, she finds out that she inherits 50% of Alana’s B&B, Sunshine Inn. The other 50% is inherited by Cade Witherspoon.
Cade Witherspoon is a grumpy employee of the Sunshine Inn and caretaker of Alana. Cade and Everleigh now have to decide together what to do with the B&B. She wants to sell it and move on with her life but he wants to keep living and running in the B&B. Cade and Everleigh agreed that Everleight gets two months to try to sell the B&B. If she couldn’t sell it within that time, Cade would get to keep running the B&B and Everleigh would only be a silent partner.
For now Everleigh and Cade run the B&B together and they end up spending more and more time together. After all this time will Everleigh still want to sell the B&B, or did she change her mind? And is Cade still insisting that he runs the B&B alone, or will he want to keep running the B&B with Everleigh?
Amy Clipston did it again! This is a sweet and cute grumpy x sunshine romance book. I highly recommend this book to anyone. It’s the perfect read for this summer.
The book is written in third person. Normally I don’t like books that are written like this and I think it’s really hard to follow, but this book was easy to follow.
I absolutely loved the characters. Everleigh and Cade both had great backstories and I loved how they came together.
I read and listened to this book at the same time. The production of the audiobook was great. The narrator was really good and spoke very clearly.

Second Chance at Sunshine Inn by Amy Clipston is an engaging, well-written, emotional story with endearing characters and a lovely coastal setting.
Everleigh and Cade are a perfect blend of sunshine/grumpy and both have their journeys of self discovery before reaching a sweet, happy ending.
This is the perfect book for those who love contemporary romance / women’s fiction stories.
Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for providing me an eARC of this novel to read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Two opposites at a bed and breakfast what a perfect summer book ! You couldn’t ask for a idea for a Hallmark movie either lol
Thank you for book NetGalley and the publisher

Get ready to jump into a novel that feels like the perfect mix between a Netflix and Hallmark movie!
This story is layered with emotions! I love the dynamic between Everleigh and Cade - watching how closed off Cade is at the beginning to witnessing him protecting Everleigh by making sure she knows the truth (IYKYK). Alana (Everleigh's godmother) truly is like a guardian angel looking down on these two. 🥰
This story is more than just a romance between Cade and Everleigh. It is packed with family dynamics that show the power of healing through letting go, and letting "in". As a "planner" myself, I loved watching Everleigh's plans shift and evolve- giving me that reminder that plans are good, but life's surprises can be better.
This book really is the perfect summer release! It's easy to read, ripe with sweetness, and the journey to "the end" is an utter delight.
