I really enjoyed the exploration of identity, relationships and the complicated feelings of growing up. .The writing is engaging and I was always curious to see where Rosie is headed to next. Rosie is such a compelling and relatable character chasing her dreams through life's roller coaster ride. Her struggles feel real and the book has balance of humor and vulnerabilities.

I can’t believe I was ever hesitant to read this book because it turned out to be one of my absolute favorite stories! Everything, from the characters to the plot, was absolutely spot-on! I’m so glad I overlooked my initial hesitations and tried out this book, because otherwise I would have missed out on one amazing story. Don’t be like me—go read this book as soon as it’s available!

Rosie’s sense of humor had me laughing out loud more than once 🤭 She was inherently awkward and, yet, so much fun—Rosie definitely had a knack for getting into the most comical of situations. I’d definitely want to be her friend in real life if she existed outside of her book! Oh, and I can’t forget her friends—I’d love to be a part of their friend group too!

Mmm, Booker was an absolute dreamboat and the perfect counterpart to Rosie! I love the way he went along with her wackiness during their first meeting—he was such a sweetheart. Booker was so good for Rosie in numerous ways—especially in helping her figure out her life. I enjoyed all of their many conversations and amusing incidents (the golf cart and mud debacle, the chipmunk in the house, date setup by Bertie, etc.).

Every single character in this book worked to make this such an amazing book! I didn’t dislike a single one of them, as they were all so highly entertaining and lovable—even when they tried to be grouchy. The elderly residents at Sunset Hills were definitely some of my favorites (Arthur, I’m looking at you) 😆 Watching them audition for the show was absolutely hilarious! I love that the other young people at Sunset Hills quickly befriended Rosie and welcomed her into their circle—they were exactly what she needed, and she was exactly what they needed ♥️

The perfect easy, clean summer read! If Courtney writes it, I will read it. I fell in love with Rosie and everyone at the retirement community. Booker ... swoon eyes. Rosie is an aspiring actress whose career is not going as planned. She is embarrassed to share with her three best friends how life is really going. As fate would have it, she ended up as the creative director in an unlikely place ... but that place changes her life for the better. While her life was changing and she was growing, she was helping others realize their potential. So many fun characters in this book. I would love to read Birdie and Arthur's story and Dillian"s story.

No spoilers ... but I can see how the ending might frustrate people, but I personally loved it. It felt right, but I wish I had more.

Thanks to Thomas Nelson and Zondervan and NetGalley for the the advanced copy of this book.

A charming, feel-good delight that proves the best roles in life might be the ones we never auditioned for.

In Everything’s Coming Up Rosie, Courtney Walsh crafts a heartwarming, laugh-out-loud story about dreams that change, the power of community, and finding your spotlight in the most unexpected places. When aspiring actress Rosie Waterman loses everything in one day, a last-ditch theatre job sends her far from New York — and straight into a retirement community production of Cinderella. What starts as a fallback quickly becomes a life-changing experience.

Rosie’s reluctant return to her small-town roots is full of humour, heart, and hope. Walsh’s vibrant cast of senior citizens brings wisdom, personality, and scene-stealing charm, while Rosie’s journey toward self-acceptance is both moving and empowering. The author’s signature warmth and wit shine through every page, offering readers a rich blend of theatre magic and emotional depth.

Full of quirky characters, tender moments, and personal reinvention, this uplifting romcom is perfect for fans of Katherine Center and Kristan Higgins. Everything’s Coming Up Rosie is a joyful reminder that letting go of one dream might just lead you to something even better.

Everything’s Coming Up Rosie
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I feel like Courtney Walsh snuck up on me, and here I am accidentally reading my 9th book by her!

Rosie is a little lost with her acting career when she ends up accidentally becoming the creative director of a theater company inside a retirement community. Full of all of the mishaps you might imagine, and a few extras, this definitely got some laughs!

If you like a cute and quirky main character, or were a theater kid growing up, this is your book! It’s focused more on the character building and found family relationships than the closed door romance, but sometimes that’s just what you need!

Thanks to @betgalley for this arc!

“ I do feel deeply, and I don’t want to feel deeply. Because when I let it all in, it hurts.”

I think most people have felt this at one point or another. I really connected with Rosie. Living her life to fulfill expectations instead of living for the joy of living.

This was such a lovely book. Full of the most amazing people that you wish you knew in real life.

Watching Rosie’s growth really made me examine things I do and don’t do and the why’s behind that.

Definitely a 5+ star read for me.

I received this book as an arc but all thoughts are my own.

Rosie Waterman’s biggest dream is to be a successful actress. Unfortunately, that’s not how life is working out. Pressured by her friends’ successful relationships, careers, & even one starting a family, Rosie doesn’t reveal that acting life in NYC isn’t all that it appears. When she’s offered a job to direct Cinderella at a rural theatre program near her hometown for the summer, she jumps at the opportunity. What she doesn’t realize is that it’s a senior center’s production, and many of the actors have no experience on the stage. While navigating new challenges, Rosie opens herself to this new experience, love, and the idea of a different dream to pursue.
This was a sweet story with some roots in realizing that dreams can change - and that’s okay! It’s a sentiment many can relate to. I struggled with wanting to like Rosie, however. At times she came off as unreasonable and bratty and that may have been the point, but it made it hard for me to like her and sympathize with her experiences in the story. Really enjoyed many of the supporting characters though!
Thank you to Thomas Nelson for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

"Making a career out of the thing your love is tricky. When it's not going your way, joy is hard to hold on to."

I wanted to love this book, but it just didn't grab me the way I was hoping. The beginning of the story was pretty boring (to the point I read 15% and then didn't pick it back up for a few weeks). Once I got about halfway though, it was okay.

During most of the story I found myself getting annoyed with Rosie a lot. I found a lot of her mannerisms weren't stemming from her actually being awkward but instead her attempt to be quirky. She claims to be super observant but couldn't figure out she was in a retirement community from context clues. Rosie also claims she is the "master of pretending" but all of the evidence points to the contrary, and quite frankly makes me believe she's not a good actress until the end.

She was a believable struggling actor though. Like many people, she gives into the Sunk-Cost fallacy. "To give up before I achieve what I set out to do is failing. Period. Full stop." I think people in a lot of walks of life believe that about their goals and it was nice to see some character growth on Rosie's part.

The romance was very G-rated so it was cute. Definitely insta-love. Not a slow burn at all. You can tell Rosie and Booker are going to date pretty much immediately. I also feel like some of their Friday questions were a form of forced intimacy. Ultimately, I did like them together.

The writing style wasn't my favorite (i.e. strangely specific yet wild metaphors). There were a lot of pop-culture references that were not needed, and on the flip side there weren't nearly enough theatre references. I also feel like this book leaned into the "cringey-ness" of being a theatre person when it just wasn't necessary.

The shining stars of the whole book were Daisy and Arthur. Two incredible supporting characters. I loved their places in the story.

Ultimately, it was a good book. It just could have been better.

Thank you to Thomas Nelson Fiction and NetGalley for providing me with an eARC in exchange for my honest review!

Another winner from Courtney Walsh. I had the pleasure of reading and listening simultaneously and I loved the combination. Walsh’s books, stories and characters all evoke real and raw emotion - I truly loved this cast of characters and look forward to Courtney’s next one!

When Rosie loses her job and apartment in the same day, you are left wondering what she will do next with her life. Suddenly she is offered a job directing a production of Cinderella that may not be what she originally thought. Discovering this twist was SO fun and had me giggling. I loved watching Rosie rise to the challenge. Sometimes, life doesn't go the way we expect but we shouldn't give up, and that was exactly what Rosie discovered!

Thank you Netgalley for an advanced copy.

A charming blend of witty banter, quirky characters, and heartwarming moments, Everything’s Coming Up Rosie kept me laughing and smiling throughout the book. Rosie’s nervous chatter, deadpan dry humor, and touching care for the people around her made for such an entertaining read, while her insecurities and struggles were so relatable. I found myself cheering her on and seeing a little bit of my younger self in her as the story went on.

While the romance in Everything’s Coming Up Rosie is there, it’s not the only focus of the story., I absolutely love how Courtney Walsh adds rich character development and a full cast of personalities to round out her books. Don’t get me wrong. The romance storyline exists, and Booker delivers all the sweetness and swoon, However, Rosie’s personal growth is the center of the book, and that was such a sweet breath of fresh air for me. Also, the cast of mature counterparts, especially Arthur and Bertie, warmed my heart and had me rolling with their antics and snark.

Courtney Walsh’s books have been consistent favorites of mine, and Everything’s Coming Up Rosie is another win! Both the young and young-at-heart will love this book! Preorder it now, or grab it when it releases on June 10th!

POV:
This is a first-person point of view. We get Rosie Waterman's perspective. However, I would have enjoyed receiving the male love interest, Booker, as I would have enjoyed hearing his perspective and story.
Short Summary:
We follow Rosie Waterman's move to Wisconsin Door County after she receives a job offer as a director. In hopes of doing something she loves; as in the beginning of the book, we find out that she is both homeless and jobless. So, she took this job offer, and we followed her as she navigated into the new place and met new people.
Review:
One of the aspects of this book that struck a chord with me was Rosie's relatability. Like many of us, Rosie questions her dreams and whether her actions are enough. Her fear of not being good enough and successful is a feeling that resonates with readers. We all have times when we seek support and feel like our lives are in disarray. Rosie's struggles with self-doubt, her fear of failure, and her journey to find her place in the world, which involved [specific experiences or challenges], are all experiences that many of us can relate to. For instance, her struggle with [specific experience] and her fear of [specific fear] are moments that many readers will find familiar. This shared experience can make us feel understood and validated.
The romance in this book is a slow burn, a gradual and realistic portrayal of a relationship. We don't see any significant change in 50 percent of the book, but this pacing makes the romance compelling. It's a refreshing change from the typical instant love stories. However, I thoroughly enjoyed that aspect of the book. Not to mention, the love interest (Booker) in this book was very supportive of Rosie's dreams and aspirations. Though seemingly excessive, his unwavering support and understanding were a testament to his character development. This support was a plot device and a crucial element in Rosie's journey. Through his support, Rosie was able to [specific development or achievement]. I soon realized that this was just who he was: a genuinely supportive and understanding partner.
The author's note at the end of this book is a treasure trove of insights that I greatly appreciated. In it, the author shares their personal experiences and the real-life inspirations behind the characters and themes in the book. This note gave me a deeper understanding of the story and a greater appreciation for the author's craft. It's like a backstage pass to the author's mind, and I've always found such notes to be a fascinating way to connect with the story and the author's creative process. For instance, the author's personal experience and how it influenced Rosie's character was a revelation that added a new layer of depth to the story.
Overall, This was a great, clean romance that I highly recommend to anyone who loves theater and quirky characters.

After losing her job and her home, Rosie is desperate to find a job. She has dreamed her whole life of being an actor and jumps at the chance of being director of Cinderella! It's a dream! It's a big chance! But when she arrives, she realizes that she has been hired by a retirement community and the talent will be the residents at the home. Has she bitten off more than she can chew????

This book has its fair share and cute and endearing moments. As Rosie gets to work, she has more than few challenges and obstacles to overcome. I enjoyed watching Rosie go from shock to acceptance then to enjoying what she was doing. I enjoyed the humor and the message of going for your dreams, taking chances, being vulnerable, self-growth, friendship, and drama! This book also has some romance and a very nice sense of community/found family which I always enjoy.

While there were parts of this book that I really enjoyed, there were other parts that were slow and at times I felt as if I would never finish this book. I struggle with slow and that brought down some of my enjoyment of the book.

Others enjoyed this book more than I did, so please read their reviews as well.

I had both the book and audiobook for Everything's Coming Up Rosie which made for a fully immersive reading experience. I thought the narrator of the audiobook did a great job of bringing the book to life!

I loved the unique setting of this story I won’t specifiy here because I feel it's better discovering it on your own. The funny, quirky, and loud personality of Rosie was so enjoyable. Booker is cool, suave, and handsome popularity. The many supporting characters were a great addition. Rosie goes on a self-discovery journey to find out who she really is and what she wants to be in life. There are no swears or alcohol and level 1 kisses only. Dual POV. I listened to the audio and the narrator was easy to understand and enjoyable to listen to. I received a complimentary copy of this book from @netgalley and @thomasnelsonfiction. Rosie Waterman is an aspiring actor but lately her life is falling apart. She hasn’t had any real gigs in a long time and is barely making ends meet. When she gets evicted from her apartment in New York she feels like she has hit rock bottom.
She decided to go back home, where she meets up with her friends. They catch each other up on what’s going on in their lives, but Rosie feels embarrassed with her life and doesn’t want to tell her friends about her failed career as an actor.
Then out of the blue she gets a job offer as a part of a creative team, but she doesn’t remember when she applied for the job or what the job really is. The job pays really well so she decides to take it. When she gets to her new job, it’s completely different than anything she expected. It’s not a theater but a retirement home, where she is in charge of the theater club.
At first Rosie didn’t want to do the job because she thought she wasn’t good enough. She thought about quitting but she quickly stepped up to the challenge. This job taught her a lot about other people but also about herself. The longer she has the job the more she starts to love this job and the people there.

I liked this book a lot. It was inspiring to read about someone who is trying to find herself and her self confidence. I think we all struggle a bit with this from time to time.
I really liked Rosie and her struggles. I also liked how she got into some funny and crazy situations. I also really liked Booker. The banter and the chemistry between them was really great.
The narration of this book was great and clear. It was easy to understand.
The story was written beautifully. I’m looking forward to reading more from Courtney Walsh.
