Book Review: "Rosie Waterman's Journey"
In "Rosie Waterman's Journey," readers are taken on an inspiring exploration of dreams, growth, and unexpected opportunities. Rosie, an aspiring actor, faces a turning point when life throws her a curveball, leading her to lose both her apartment and job on the same day. This moment of crisis propels her into a deeper reflection on her aspirations and the reality of those around her.
The narrative beautifully captures Rosie’s struggle as she grapples with the stark contrast between her hopes and the achievements of her friends, who are all moving forward with careers and families. This relatable theme resonates with anyone who has ever felt stuck in pursuit of their dreams.
When Rosie accepts a position as the director for a regional theatre production of "Cinderella," she takes a leap of faith. The twist? The theatre is in a retirement community, and her cast consists of senior citizens who are new to acting. This unexpected setting provides a fresh perspective on what it means to lead and inspire, challenging Rosie to step out of her comfort zone and redefine her understanding of success.
Rosie's journey is both humorous and heartwarming, as she learns to embrace the unique challenges of directing a diverse group of actors. The interactions she has with her cast not only enrich her experience but also inspire her to reconsider her own dreams and what it means to truly pursue them.
"Rosie Waterman's Journey" is a testament to resilience, showing that sometimes what we think we want may not be what we truly need. This uplifting story encourages readers to embrace change and find joy in the unexpected, making it a delightful read for anyone navigating their own path in life. Highly recommended for those seeking inspiration and a reminder that dreams can take many forms.

Courtney Walsh’s books are always like a warm and cozy hug…and Everything is Coming Up Rosie is so different. Rosie is desperate to find work in theater and after desperate attempts to get an interview, she receives an email offering her a position. Little does she know that this job is managing a theater in a senior living community. The way Walsh used this surprise to change Rosie’s character is beautiful. The people she meets in the process end up growing, shaping and changing her—-Arthur, Booker, Daisy, Bertie, etc. Each person grows her more and more into the woman she wants to be and encourages her to become vulnerable, not only with new and old friends, but also with herself. I am so thankful I had the chance to read this lovely book ahead of publication and highly recommend it to others.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for gifting me a copy of Everything’s Coming Up Rosie!
This is the story of Rosie who is having a hard time finding jobs in acting until she receives an email telling her that she is accepted to work in the creative time of the production of Cinderella. The thing is it takes place in a retirement community and she is the director- which she has never been before!
I didn’t want this book to end. It was the sweetest and most heartwarming story. I thought I would cry a few times because of how cute and amazing this story was. The character development was incredible, it was funny, easy to read, and couldn’t have been better.
Arthur and Dylan were SUCH a great characters, I loved them so so much
And her best-friends were also so nice and supportive.
It can only get 5⭐️!!

I have never read this author but the cover looked cute so I figured I would give it a try…and I’m so happy I did.
I loved everything about this book! The characters, the setting, the writing. Everything about it was amazing!
This story is about Rosie. The struggling actor who got kicked out of her home in New York and is forced to move back home. She gets a job offer at a theatre complete with great pay and a place to live. What could go wrong?
I was rooting for Rosie in her working life as well as her dating life. Can we talk about booker?? Ugh I loved him.
Does this review make sense? Probably not but if you get anything out of this it’s the book is fantastic

Another super sweet romcom from Courtney Walsh! I laughed a lot, even cried 🙈
Rosie is a struggling actress and has taken a directing job for a community theatre. Her discovery that the “community” is actually the Sunset Hills Retirement Community is leaving her unsure of her life choices. There’s also Booker, the sweet and refreshingly honest (and really handsome 😍), resident Physical Therapist.
This cast will seriously make you laugh out loud, sassy and spicy seniors alike. Give it a read if you want a funny and wholesome romcom of old.
Thanks to #NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for this ARC. Opinions are my own. #EverythingsComingUpRosie

I love Courtney Walsh books. That's all I can say. Her lighthearted perspective is a breath of fresh air woven together with swoony romance and solid characters. Every time I pick up one of her books I know it will be a happy escapism with no chance of sadness, but still a dose of depth and growth.
I particularly loved the theater settings in this one and I wanted to be friends with the main character.

I'd never heard of Courtney Walsh before this book, that got my attention through its cover, which gave me a strong Barbra Streisand's movies vibe. And I was not disappointed one bit by what I found în it, especially theatre related. I was not the biggest fan of the romance part (but that is because I am generally not fond of this kind of reading, for those who like this it will surely fulfill expectations on that too), that is why I held back on giving it five stars.
Otherwise, it was a cozy, warm, emoțional, even inspirational reading, which seemed pretty light in the beginning, but unexpectedly turned into a profound, food-for-thought-y one. Loved the atmosphere, the characters, but above all the relationships created between them, and the changes of heart (or rather attitude) of various characters that led to such an emotional ending.

This book was so fun to read!! Such a good pallet cleanser. I love the plot, setting and characters. Heartwarming and funny read

I enjoyed every aspect of this book. This cast of characters stole my heart from the beginning, Rosie, Booker, Daisy, Louie, Bertie, and even Arthur, who turned out to be a big softy at heart. Rosie was a character I found myself really connecting with, because I could see a lot of myself in her. She is afraid to open up and let people in for fear that she will get too close and disappoint them or have them walk out on her. Once she finally lets her walls down, she not only starts letting people in, but she also discovers what she wants to do with her life and who she just might truly be. She also learns that in the letting go you sometime get so much more in return.
My favorite scene has to be the tarp picnic. Who knew a tarp, a box of pizza, and a couple waters could be soooo romantic. Oh, and the ending was absolutely perfect!

Everything’s Coming Up Rosie was such a fun read. Rosie is relatable and Likable, her story was interesting, the banter was funny, and I just wanted everything to work out for her. I enjoyed reading it and was so happy to get a chance to do so before its official release.

Adored this story. I loved acting and putting theater shows together in my younger days and this title reminded me about all that goes into a production. Walsh crafted fun characters, and I found it to be a heartwarming story. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

It is no surprise that I am writing another glowing review for one of my favorite authors latest releases. If you’re new to Courtney Walsh books… Welcome 🤗 or Die hard fan like myself… eek!!! You’re going to love this!
“It’s just life.”
One of my favorite things about picking up one of Courtney’s books is she knows what her readers want. And for this case… Yes… A floundering actress who finds herself accepting a position as a director at a “regional theatre”… which unbeknownst to her is at a retirement community. Let the shenanigans and self growth commence 🎭
“I don’t think anyone actually knows what they’re doing. We’re all in various stages of making it up as we go.”
Rosie! I adored her character. My heart hurt for her and how she felt like she wasn’t advancing in life alongside her friends at the same pace… which lead her to but on a facade and which ultimately pushes her to take the position as Director… taking a chance and building community is what makes her really take a look at her life and come to realize what she is truly passionate about.
Everyone she came across was kind and furthered her growth. Arthur was truly something special and I think I may have highlighted every line in the chapters he was in. He really helped get Rosie to her outcome and I loved how full circle it felt with the character Dylan that Rosie took under her wings. Truly special.
“It’s amazing what you discover if you hold the dream loosely.”
And of course Booker. I was a bit on the edge of my seat towards the end. He is so sweet and I loved that the romance was subtle and didn’t take aways from Rosie’s story but added to her growth.
I can go on forever about this gem. I don’t know who I need to get a hold of but a position at Sunset Hills sounds like a dream… a cute cozy cottage, all the activities a supporting community. Sounds like a dream!
“And remember, you can be exceptional anywhere.”

I’ve read a few of Courtney Walsh’s books now, and this book has everything I’ve come to expect from her: a lovable cast of characters (Arthur and Dylan are my two sleeper favorites), quirky humor, a heroine who experiences important development with the help of a new romantic interest, and a hero who seems pretty much too good to be true! I enjoyed this book in all its heartfelt, humorous glory; it’s a feel-good read that addresses some heavier topics without getting bogged down in them. Even though the writing is occasionally too slapstick-silly, unbelievable, or heavy-handed for my personal taste, this is still a lovely read. The writing style and pacing are great, and it’s impossible not to root for Rosie. If you’re looking for a feel-good rom com with some good life lessons, don’t miss Everything’s Coming Up Rosie! I give it 4.5 stars rounded up to 5.

Content notes: some physical humor (e.g., a woman worrying a man can see down her shirt; a woman staring at a man’s rear end). The book is from a Christian publisher but doesn’t have any Christian messaging, in case non-religious readers want to know.

3/5⭐
this was a very fun ride, but it could have been better.
lets start off with things I enjoyed before I rant a bit-
I loved Rosie's character arc. Going from being unsure as to her life path, insecure as a performer, to stepping out with a fresh sense of who she is and a refresh on why she loves theatre.
I also adored Rosie's friends- especially Daisy. She was probably my favorite character. I loved the way she took Rosie under her wing and was so sweet and bold and fun.
And of course I loveddddd all the musical references throughout the story. There are just not enough books for theatre kids in the world and I loved that element. I adored the 'inside jokes' for theatre people like a convo about Law and Order (iykyk).
Which leads us into dislikes...
There just wasn't enough theatre. Rosie is directing R&H Cinderella and yet we got no mentions of any of the songs, characters (other than the basic Cinderella, Stepmother, and one reference to the prince). This is one of my favorite shows and I wanted to get in on the directing action. Was this the 'Enchanted Version' of the show? Were the stepsisters quirky and funny? How did she direct scenes and songs? What did the set look like (other than the ball set), what did the costumes look like? So much was missing for me. I wanted to read a book about a director directing- and the other side plots could have been worked in instead of having the directing be a very minor subplot.
I also couldn't get behind the romance. I felt nothing. The beginning with their friendship was sweet but they liked each other right away and I wanted some slow burn tension- which I didn't receive. Now, I did like the beginning of their relationship but hated it the minute they got together for real.
I found that the first half took a long time to get into the plot but the second half, everything was glossed over- we heard that she had conversations with Booker but didn't see them. Daisy stopped existing in the second half. The subplots were so many that they were wrapped up way to fast.
Overall, I enjoyed this fun quirky story filled with lots of enjoyable characters but it just didn't hit the way I wanted it too.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for an arc in exchange for an honest review!!

Such a sweet book! I loved Rosie, and her full cast of supporting characters. This book gave me all the feels, and in the end, I may have gotten a little teary from all the wonderful relationships that Rosie formed. But also, most of all I laughed, so hard so many times 😊
Rosie was struggling to find her role in the theatre community, desiring to be on stage but constantly settling for jobs off stage just to get by. After losing her job and her apartment in the same day she’s ready to give up her dream completely, but not before she applies to any and every job remotely related to theatre and acting anywhere near her.
Afraid to tell her friends how she really feels (like a failure) she rushes to accept what appears to be a dreamy job, as part of the creative team for a regional production of Cinderella in Door County. When she arrives, she realizes that she may not have actually even read the job description, she’s shocked to find out that she’s the ONLY member of the creative team, and she’s there as a last-ditch effort to save the theater program …………. at a retirement community.
Obviously not ideal, but instead of leaving she embraces the community, the play and the people in the community. I loved watching Rosie go for it to work hard to reach her dreams, and to grow to accept herself for who she was, and to see the value in being real and honest in relationships. It was so fun to read about so many fun characters in the retirement community, an often overlooked but still fun and inspiring group of people! I especially loved her friendships with Dylan and Arthur.
And of course there is sweet romantic things, with the good looking physical therapist. Sign me up for all of that! Booker was the best, his patience and understanding with Rosie was so sweet. This book has a little something for everyone, a fun read guaranteed to make you smile!
Thank you to the publisher, author and Netgalley for complimentary copy of this book, but the opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I absolutely adored Everything is Coming up Rosie. It started out a little slow and I wasn’t sure I was going to like it but around 30% it picked up and I had a hard time putting it down after that.
Rosie’s story is a sweet story of healing and the evolving as a person, but what really got me were the stories of friendship. I’m not a cryer and it got me a few times (in a good way). The romance was sweet and innocent and the book had me laughing and smiling the whole time. I also love how Courtney Walsh sneaks in pop culture references.
This is a really fun, trauma free beach type read that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review an advance copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

4.5⭐️, this was almost a 5 star read for me. I loved the setting and thought the retirement community was described in fresh way that didn’t feel too stereotypical. I really enjoyed Arthur, Bertie, and Rosie’s hometown friends, and her relationship with Booker was very sweet.

Everything's Coming Up Rosie by Courtney Walsh, published by Thomas Nelson Fiction is a witty and fun read.
Rosie is an aspiring actress, only she's flat out broke, hit rock bottom, just moved back in with her mother. But wants to hold up appearances.
Offered a job at a theater is her saving grace.
A sweet story, a beautiful love interest, great friends, a well rounded story, 4 stars.

I really enjoyed this story! I love the author and how she tells the story. I’m picky about my clean romances and she nails it every time!

What on earth to say about this brilliant book? Sometimes it’s the books you don’t see coming that can truly make an impact on your soul. As a former theatre professional, I don’t think there’s a more perfect novel written with me in mind. This book’s characters are varied and lovable, the romance sweet, and the narrative insightful and charming. You’ll love it if you’re from the theatre world. You’ll love it regardless!
