I had the opportunity to sit in a couples' class at Grace Covenant Church in Austin under Dr. Thurman's teaching. It was 11 years ago and my husband and I still quote some of his practical advice.

Real Marriage Made Simple offers straightforward observations and perspective after years of counseling real couples. Dr. Thurman offers a balanced psychological perspective and backs it up with Scripture. If you're needing a new perspective in your marriage, reading through this book and doing the the included workbook will bring renewal.

Some of the example couples and stories felt over the top but they were still relevant. I appreciate the hypothetical conversations with a counselor so it was clear to see how the advice could be applied, even in unrelatable circumstances.

I'd definitely recommend Real Marriage Made Simple.

Real Marriage Made Simple is a short, efficient marriage book, aiming to truly change marriages. Based on Christian principles, the book challenges the spouses to treat the other with love and to own up their own faults and sin. It is a short book, which makes it easy to read. It also comes with a workbook, aimed to work out the principles talked in the book. This book is a quick read but it truly challenges the reader to do better.

Great book! Real Marriage Made Simple really opened my eyes. It helps you self reflect, and have more empathy towards your spouse. Relationships take work and putting in the work can be hard.
