"Uneasy Street" is a wonderful ending to Becky Wade's "Sons of Scandal" series. The series overall was excellent and this book really wraps things up for those that have read the first two books in the series. This one can be read as a standalone but if you plan on reading the other two books, this will give spoilers to storylines that start in the first book and continue through to this one. I highly recommend they be read in order.

I really enjoyed getting to know Max better. He is mentioned in the first two books of this series since he's the illegitimate brother of Jude and Jeremiah, the main male characters in the first two books. Sloane is a worthy heroine in this one and I really liked the banter between Max, Sloane and Sloane's 15 year old niece Ivy who plays a huge part in this book. There are two mysteries in this one, a missing royal tiara and Ivy finding her birth father.

This is a swoony, sweet and clean romance. There is some swoony kissing in it and mentions of past romance's of Max's in the book. He has been quite the playboy and that comes up frequently but doesn't every playboy need the right woman to reform him??? There are strong family connections in this and themes of redemption as well.

I recommend this book for adult audiences, though older teens 17+ may connect with Ivy's story of adoption and finding her birth father.

Thank you to Netgalley and the author for the opportunity to read an ARC of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

This is a terrific ending to the Sons of Scandal series. Readers finally get Max's story and will find it was worth the wait. With Ms. Wade's trademark swoony hero and witty banter, readers are in for a treat.

When Sloane returns to Maine for a couple of months, she finds that she is unable to avoid contact with Max, the friend who betrayed her four years ago. The story starts with quite a bit of tension and I'll be honest, I was not immediately a fan of Max.

Ms. Wade skillfully wove their back stories throughout Uneasy Street, and I found a lot of vulnerability in both of the main characters. I quickly started rooting for a happily ever after ending. I was moved to tears near the end of the story, hoping they would have the courage to lay aside the betrayals that lurked deep within and find the courage to trust and find love.

A subplot that is woven throughout the series is one of family and the high cost of betrayal that only grace and forgiveness can heal. One of these broken relationships is part of a subplot involving secondary characters. I love the fact that Ms. Wade creates realistic flawed characters, who sometimes commit offenses that have far reaching consequences, yet can be healed by the power of grace.

Content warning: Some swoony kisses and mention of past affairs.

I loved this story.
The two main character Max and Sloan are so fun to read about. They have a history and the banter going on by them due to a huge misunderstanding is actually fun to read. They come back together after 4 years so part and have to find their way to friendship again.
There is also other characters who have stories that need resolution and forgiveness that are all interconnected. I enjoyed each character and the story around them.
A story of faith and forgiveness and finding one true self.
I look forward to the next story by this author.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy

This is a wonderful book! It's the third in the series. I haven't read the other two yet, but I definitely will! The book is mostly lighthearted with a few serious topics. The prevalent theme is forgiveness.

The characters are relatable, and most of them are easy to like. My absolute favorite is Ivy. She's a breath of fresh air. Her sunny disposition makes everyone in her life feel special. Sloane is a dedicated person. She loves Ivy with all her heart. She has a lot of walls up because of her difficult past. Max- I love him, then I despise him, then I love him again. He, too, has had a difficult past. He's successful in everything but love.

I loved being transported to Groomsport, Maine! It sounds utterly breathtaking with its mountains, rivers, and lakes. I'd love to see the inside of "The Gables!" I would also like to try on Empress Eugenie's tiara! Every girl wants to be a princess!

I look forward to reading the other books in the series. I already like Jude and Jeremiah a lot!

I was provided a complimentary arc copy of the book from the author/publisher via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

We have Max’s beautiful story! I absolutely loved this book! The 3rd book in a gorgeous series that took me for a ride! The characters were strong and complete! The side characters’ journeys were enjoyable and filled in the empty spots nicely! Max and Sloan had to work out a lot of their own issues. And the author’s writing made it worth watching their paths come together! Enjoy!

Thanks to NetGalley and the author for this book, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Oh my! I really enjoyed Uneasy Street. I think that Max's story is my favorite of the three Sons of Scandal series. He is determined to get closure in his relationship with Sloane, a friend and business partner from the past, and manipulated things so the two would be in close contact while she is in Maine taking care of her niece. Ivy is the daughter of Sloane's deceased sister and is happily adopted. It was fun watching Max and Sloane bicker, fight, and gradually move to a civil relationship with Ivy in the middle, wise for her fifteen years. The two are such wonderful but wounded souls. ivy is a pure delight and there is a whole story about her as she wants to find her biological father. Sweet romance with inspirational moments. I recommend reading this series in order for best enjoyment since ongoing issues from the first book are addressed. I received a copy in exchange for an honest review. These are my thoughts.

Uneasy Street by Beck Wade is brilliant, charming, and refreshing! Max and Sloane have some of the best literary banter available! They are both so intelligent and witty and they play perfectly off one another. Max is the third brother in the Sons of Scandal series, so there is plenty of catching up with the other brothers and all the characters you have come to know and love. Aside from Max and Sloane, there are mysteries to be solved that tie in perfectly to the rest of the story. Beyond the enemy to lover dynamic, there is such a strong theme of redemption and forgiveness woven throughout. Wade brings her characteristic humor to balance out the heaviness and it makes it smoothly perfect. I experienced the full gamut of emotions and loved every moment of every page. Ivy and the rats were a pure delight as well and such a perfect buffer for Max and Sloane. The coastal descriptions kept me engaged and allowed me to experience the story. Not only did I love reading the book, I had the additional privilege of listening to the audiobook as well. The dual narrators were prefect for bringing this story to life.

I have loved the Sons of Scandal series! I believe the style of writing is easy to read and very enjoyable throughout all 3 books.

Uneasy Street is a closed-door, second chance, forced proximity romance. Just like the other 2 books of Sons of Scandal, there is a focus on faith. Both characters are driven and a bit uptight, but softened by Sloane's niece Ivy. Sloane and Max have a history that initially make the time shared with Ivy strained. Past secrets kept and family loss caused lots of drama within Sloane and Max's history. Luckily, this book focused a lot on grace and forgiveness, something all of the characters needed to be a a little willing to extend. I love the banter between Max and Sloane, especially with the lengths Max goes through to get Sloane into conversation with him.

All the previous characters are still present with us in this book and it's nice to keep up with their stories as well. Fiona actually experiences some personal growth in this one, which was nice to see.

There has been some form of a mystery/crime element in each book and this one is no exception, Uneasy Street had two mysteries the characters were trying to unravel.

The ending felt a bit rushed, especially since it wad the wrap-up of the series. I personally just always want more "closure". Overall, this is an excellent read and is recommended!

Becky Wade has such a knack for drawing me in from the first line. Her writing is vividly descriptive and the characters walk onto the page in 3D.

Uneasy Street the the third and final book in the Sons of Scandal series. They are best read in order (Memory Lane, Rocky Road, and Uneasy Street.)

The series follows three brothers as they each learn how to cope with their families scandal in their own ways. Uneasy Street wrapped it all up perfectly.

Thank you Becky!! What a perfect way to finish the Sons of Scandal series. Although I am sad to see it end. I could read about Max, Sloan, Ivy, Anna, Jeremiah & Jude’s future lives and not tire of it.

The story was so well written. I loved the dynamic between Max & Sloan.

Uneasy Street was a joy to read and I will miss all the characters.

"Uneasy Street" is the third book in Becky Wade's "Sons of Scandal" series. This particular book centers around formal business partners and now enemies Max and Sloane. While these two started their own business right after college, there was a horrible business split and the two haven't spoken in years. Now, Sloane is unable to avoid Max as she's busy caring for her niece while her parents are away on a business trip. Max is determined to get Sloane back and will do whatever it takes to convince her that he cares for her. He also steps in to help Sloane and her niece as they're looking for hew long-lost dad. Not only does she find her dad, but even an unknown and unexpected twin sister.

While I typically like enemies to lovers books, I just didn't feel the romance between the two main characters. Also, Sloane was very prickly and standoffish and I just couldn't warm up to her. I also found myself skimming through the parts of the books that included the side characters and the tiara search, as I didn't feel a personal connection to that part of the story. I'll still read Wade's books, but this one wasn't my favorite. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Sloane’s character intrigued me. I’ve never read about a character so enthralled with proper etiquette before and it made for quite the unique read. As she put it, β€œπš†πš’πšπš‘ πšπš›πšŠπšŒπšŽ πšŠπš—πš πšŽπš•πšŽπšπšŠπš—πšŒπšŽ, πšŠπš—πš’πšπš‘πš’πš—πš πš’πšœ πš™πš˜πšœπšœπš’πš‹πš•πšŽ.” Her business, My Fair Lady, sounds very interesting!

I loved Ivy! Her character won me over very quickly and I adored every scene that she was prominent in! Her weird obsession with rats had me highly amused. I loved Ivy’s relationship with Sloane πŸ₯Ή It was so touching how sweet and patient Sloane was with her, especially with helping Ivy to locate her birth father. Hearing Harper’s story literally had me tearing up 😒

Max was…not a favorite of mine at all. Honestly, I could hardly stand the guy for some reason. He was very off-putting and overall obnoxious. When I heard how everything went down with Libri, I knew that I for sure did not like Max. He was sweet with Ivy, but that’s about all the good I have to say about him.

Don’t even get me started on Fiona, Isobel, and Nicole πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ What even?! The more I learned, the more horrified I became! Nothing there was remotely okay and I was so disgusted. I was not a fan of all the mentions of divorce, remarriage, and cheating in this book.

The missing tiara plot line felt completely unnecessary and didn’t add anything to the story.

Top Moments:
⛡️The rats: Kevin and Ricky
⛡️ Turning off the water
⛡️ My Fair Lady
⛡️ Mouse debacle
⛡️ β€œDarth”
⛡️ Party β€œcrashers”
⛡️ Meeting Ivy’s birth dad
⛡️ Unexpected plot twist
⛡️ Finding Anna

Overall, I did not enjoy the writing style in this book. Beings as this was my first Becky Wade book, I’ll probably give her one more try before I call it quits, but it’s safe to say I was less than impressed. So much of the story fell flat for me because of the way things were written.

Another great contemporary romance from Becky Wade! This book is the 3rd in the Sons of Scandal series. Though the story itself could stand on its own, I do recommend reading this series in order as pieces of the story (particularly Fiona's element) carry over throughout the series. But Max and Sloane's story stands on its own in this tale. Max is the 3rd son of Felix Camden, but he is the "illegitimate" one and doesn't have the Camden name or prestige. Sloane and Max were best friends in college and became business partners, but had a falling out 4 years ago. When Sloane returns to Maine to spend a few months with her niece, Ivy, whose parents are overseas, she doesn't realize that the apartment she's renting for the time is owned by Max, who has arranged for them to re-connect in order to get closure. What he gets is so much more, though. This one had an intensity similar to Memory Lane, where I appreciated the more rom-com feel of Rocky Road. If you have enjoyed this series and preferred Memory Lane to Rocky Road, you will enjoy this story. If you enjoy friends to more and/or enemies to more trope, you will enjoy this story. This has a friends to enemies to more.

In addition to the romance thread, this story has a couple of low-key mysteries going on - Sloane's niece (who was a fabulous character, by the way) was adopted as a baby and has decided she wants to find her birth father, which ends up unraveling a new thread as well. And Felix asks Max to help him find a tiara that has gone missing from his collection for Remy to wear on her wedding day. In addition, fans of the series will be glad to see Fiona's tale, which has been interwoven in all 3 books, obtain some closure as well. Though I would call the faith thread in this one "light", it was present and there was a big theme of forgiveness and grace woven within the entire story. The character development in this story was fabulous as Max and Sloane both grow significantly through the story and I enjoyed Ivy's journey as well. One note I will add - because Sloane gives lessons in proper manners and etiquette for a living, her speech patterns are very polite, which came across as "stilted" in some places. Though it had its place in the story itself and was appropriate within her character, it did take me "out" of the story at some points. All in all, though, this was an overall enjoyable read and a great conclusion to this series. Special thanks to the author and NetGalley for an advance e-copy of this novel. I was under no obligation to provide a review and the thoughts contained herein are my own.

A delightful story with lots of deep family content. A huge reminder to be grateful for family even when it's very complicated.

This is the third book in the Sons of Scandal series. I was given an advance copy by NetGalley.com.

I’ve read all three books in this series and loved all of them. This one started off a bit slower for me but I really enjoyed it. I’m glad I kept reading, lol. It was about friendships, love and misunderstandings. Sometimes we give up too soon without knowing the whole story. This book was about second chances and finding love again after giving up on being loved.

Becky Wade is back with another fun ride in a story I couldn't put down. I cared about each of the storylines and really couldn't be sure what would happen in each of them.

At first, I was kind of shocked at how Max treated Sloane but then it was revealed how their friendships fell apart a couple years ago, and you feel for the guy. I think I never really "get" it when a girl has a super great guy friend who is attractive and she just doesn't admit to herself that she likes him. Ultimately, she's been through trauma that rewired her brain and skewed her sense of safety and so on, so you can't really blame her, but it makes the story feel like there's no real barrier to them being together and makes you want to bang your head against the wall.

Sloane has a relationship with God, but the Christian faith isn't a huge part of the book and people who don't have faith won't be overwhelmed by it. Max starts going to church and learns to forgive but never has a real connection with God in the story. Forgiveness is a virtue that has gone out of vogue so this is an important and timely message.

The book is very engaging and I loved my time in its pages. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

Uneasy Street is the sixth book I have read written by Becky Wade. This is book three in the Sons of Scandal series. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series. I could not put the book down.

The character development was great. I loved getting to pull back the layers of Sloane as she dealt with her past. Getting to know Max more was fun. I enjoyed the overlapping characters in this series.

The setting and storyline were good. I loved being back in small town Maine. The storyline was great. I loved that we got to revisit other characters from the series and β€˜catch up’ on their life. I also liked the dynamic of trying to help Ivy find her biological family. It gave a fun dynamic to the story.

The romance element was perfect. The friends to enemies to lovers was perfect. I loved the different dynamics that Sloane and Max’s relationship went through. I appreciated the closed-door element.

Becky Wade did a good job incorporating faith throughout the book.

β€œI want you to be with me and only me”
This was a sweet ending to a lovely series. I am sad to see this series come to an end but love that each of the boys got their happy ending. Uneasy Street is the third book in Becky Wade’s Sons of Scandal series. Max was a bit of a mystery so I was excited to see that he was getting his own book.
Max and Sloane had history and not quite the good kind. They had been good friends, their friendship had exploded and broken up leaving them apart and angry. They were both together again when Sloane found herself staying in a house on Max’s property.
Sloane had to grow on me a bit because she was definitely a complicated character. But I felt for her as she tried to navigate her life experiences. She was hurting because of her past but it was cool to read about her growth throughout the book. She was challenged to forgive and face her thoughts about her past. I felt for Max. He was jaded because of his past and his childhood. He had hurt Sloane and been hurt by her. Max had to figure out what he wanted in life and how he felt about Sloane.
Although Sloane and Max had history, it was a complicated history and so they didn’t really get along. It was interesting to read about them interacting and figuring out what a friendship would even look like. I felt like the growth of their relationship felt real. They had to learn to mend fences as they spent time together. The romance was definitely a slow burn because they had a lot to work through.
The plot was engaging and I loved the hints of mystery that Wade always adds into her story. I wanted to see how the book would end. I thought that Ivy, Sloane’s niece, was a lot of fun. She definitely had spunk. It was cool to see Fiona again and see the conclusion to her story.
I would recommend Uneasy Street to those who enjoy contemporary romances. The characters felt real and the story was interesting. There were also some faith aspects shown in the book. Uneasy Street is a clean contemporary romance.

Book Highlights
Enemies to lovers
Hints of mystery

Set in a coastal small town, Sloane comes back to Maine for four months to care for her 15 year old niece while Ivy's adoptive parents work out of the country. What she didn't expect was the place she and Ivy will be staying at is the guesthouse of her former best friend and business partner, Max. This novel is the third and final book in the Sons of Scandal series, and I loved seeing how the overall series arc ended!

What I enjoyed:
πŸ’š Best friends to enemies to friends to lovers
πŸ’š Wanting to visit Maine in the summer and fall
πŸ’š Forgiveness and grace (faith elements throughout)
πŸ’š Childhood trauma and grief
πŸ’š Secondary storylines from prior books
πŸ’š Mysteries to solve (adoption related and missing tiara)
πŸ’š Etiquette lessons and sandwiches

4.5 / 5 stars

Closed door / kissing only

Thank you to the author and Netgalley for this eARC!
