This is the perfect story for those who love the second chance romance trope! I enjoyed this story by an author I know and love. This was the perfect weekend read!

I do enjoy a hockey romance, even when hockey isn't the main focus of the story. It’s the journey of love and life changes.
Maisie loves Christmas and is excited to share the holiday with family and friends, even though her mother isn't very supportive of her life as an artist and doesn't understand exactly how successful she really is.
Nick is a hockey player who has had some setbacks with an injury and an outburst at a reporter. He isn't sure if he wants to keep playing hockey or not.
As fate would have it this two met once before at a friends wedding and had a fantastic one night stand! Can they get over the hurt from the past? Maybeeeee.
I did feel like the last chapters felt rushed, thought we would get more about her art and his next steps after retirement.
Overall i enjoyed it.

this was such a wonderful feel good christmas romance! i absolutely loved that masie and nick were such adults with their communication with each other. it was so refreshing to read a couple without a misunderstanding or third act breakup!
all of my gratitude to netgalley for the arc!!!

This was a delight from start to finish. The story and the chemistry were perfectly balanced. And the small town acted as an uplifting side character. I would read many more love stories from this town. Perfect Christmas read.

I had to do a little Christmas story in the summer. Everyone knows I love ❤️ Christmas 🎄.
Thanks, @netgalley, for the early copy and also @stmartinspress.
Maisie and her family are spending Christmas in a very small town at a Christmas tree farm. There is only one large problem. Nick, the hockey 🏒 player that she hooked up with once in the city, happens to be here visiting his sister and nephew, who owns the tree farm. Yikes, dilemma.
Super cute, funny romance! I always love Sophie Sullivan, and she didn't disappoint me. You definitely need to pick this up during in September to get you in the mood for the holidays.

Ok so I’m a huge fan of this author, so I might be a tad biased, but "You Make It Feel Like Christmas" is an absolute delight that perfectly captures the magic and warmth of the holiday season.
Sophie Sullivan weaves a charming tale filled with heartwarming moments, witty banter, and characters you can't help but fall for. It's a truly enchanting read that will leave you feeling cozy and utterly charmed.
If you're looking for a book to spark your festive spirit, this is it!
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for a temporary e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you to the publisher and the author for my eARC!
This was a fun Christmas romance that I read during a heat wave. It was nice to think about snowball fights and snickerdoodle holiday cookies while I was sweating!
Nick and Maisie had a one night stand months ago and developed deep feelings. But life kept them apart until the are reunited at Christmas when Maisie's family stays at Nick's sister's Christmas tree farm. Their spark is still there and they try to plan out a future that includes their careers, their families, all while discovering new things about each other.
I thought it was a fun ready with the family shenanigans (midnight games!), the cute small town, Asher, Nick's adorable nephew, Christmas tree farm setting, and learning about Maisie's learning difficulties and Nick's anxiety. I think it was a little too "insta love" for my taste but I think most readers will love that part of the story.

This is a charming, cozy and steamy Christmas romance - just like a wam hug and perfect for holiday reading. I love the story of Maisie and Nick and how they overcome obstacles to be together. I also really enjoyed reading about all their family members (well, maybe not Maisie’s mom so much) and hope we see books with them in the future — particularly Ellie, Nick’s sister. If you are looking for a great holiday romance, put this story at the top of your list.
Thank you to @NetGalley and @stmartinpress for this ARC, the opinions are all my own.

Hockey players as a live interest always get me! An evocative fun romance that takes place in a Christmaa tree farm. Funny, sweet, sensual and utterly engaging.

I typically don't consider myself the kind of person who reads a hockey romance novel. However, since this one was written by Sophie Sullivan, I decided to make an exception. I'm really glad I did.
Not just because I admire her writing and the genuine connection she creates so well. But this story barely revolves around hockey. Amen to that.
What this tale truly focuses on is the rekindling of two individuals who crossed paths one unforgettable night, and their reunion under very intriguing circumstances during Christmas fills your heart with joy.
Sullivan crafts a narrative filled with lovely imagery and powerful moments that convey compassion, evolving love, deep emotions, and pure romance. She has a knack for weaving romance into a heartfelt narrative.
She has truly created the ideal couple. What I appreciate the most is that there was no dramatic upheaval of their feelings and bond in the third act.
This was a beautifully composed, clean, romantic tale that genuinely left my heart feeling joyful. I adored it immensely, and this is precisely why I cherish Sullivan's stories.

It’s tough for me to write an honest review for this one, because I have LOVED Sophie Sullivan books in the past… but this one just didn’t work for me.
HOWEVER- you know how sometimes books just don’t work for you just because of the timing? I do think that may be the case with this one.
With previous Sophia Sullivan books, I would devour them in 24-48 hours…. This one took me almost 2 weeks to get through. I put it down often for other books.
Nick and Maise’s story just didn’t totally capture my attention. I also felt like parts of this were underdeveloped- like Nick’s “mental health struggles”- tell us/show us more!!!
I will continue to read Sophie Sullivan novels (I’m a completist of hers!), but this one was just not my favorite.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC in exchange for an honest review. It pains me to write a less than glowing review of this but I want to be honest. It wasn’t bad- it was just “eh” (FOR ME, at this moment in time in June 2025).

Cute holiday romance! This is the first Sophie Sullivan book I’ve read and I loved it. Maisie was charming and I enjoyed the sports romance aspect (one of my favorite tropes).

First, a quick note: The book is written in the third person.
A cute rom-com set around Christmas time and mostly on the MMC’s sister’s Christmas tree farm. Technically, it’s a hockey rom-com, but hockey doesn’t feel like the center of the book until the last third of the book. I would rank lower on the spice level. There are some spicy scenes, but they are not as explicit as other books. Not a closed door, but more vague. It was still a really cute rom-com about two people who had a one-night stand and came back together. No third-act breakup, that was done off-page before the book started. I think the midnight snowball fight was the best scene of the book. It was heartwarming fun. The conflict between FMC and her mother was pretty typical, and their make-up at the end was just as typical. The family make-up helped to give a full HEA. I would recommend it to anyone who likes third-person and a cute rom-com with little spice.

i love a hockey romance!!!! i was honestly all about how they met. meeting at a wedding between the two families and hooking up? sign me up every time if there's a wedding hook up! i loved the christmas feel and i liked that it wasn't the sole focus of the book. it's merely a backdrop, a vibe. it was cute!

You Make It Feel like Christmas by Sophie Sullivan is a Christmas/ice hockey themed novel in which Maisie and Nick have a one night stand after meeting at a wedding, but after leaving before Maisie wakes up, Nick doesn't contact her again. This throws the anxiety prone Maisie into a panic, especially when they meet up at Christmas and wind up spending the week together at his sister's family tree farm. For me the whole story was very contrived and the main characters relationship progressed far to quickly. Maisie was also to aggressive with her games, etc., it wasn't her house or her place to decide what to do! Also, for a Christmas novel, the language was a little OTT for me. I don't mind it in other books, but a Christmas book? Overall, it was a cute story, just not my favorite Christmas novel this year. Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

This book completely stole my heart! From the very beginning, I was drawn in by the vivid descriptions of the setting—it felt like I was right there, breathing in the crisp winter air, hearing the snow crunch underfoot, and soaking in every cozy, festive detail. The atmosphere was so beautifully written, it made the perfect backdrop for the story.
I absolutely adored the character development in this book. Both the main male and female characters were layered, real, and relatable, and watching them grow—individually and together—was such a treat. The slow burn romance between them was perfectly paced and filled with chemistry that built with every interaction. It made the payoff that much more satisfying.
This story gave me all the holiday feels while still diving deep into themes of healing and second chances.
I’m also incredibly grateful to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for giving me the opportunity to read this as my very first ARC! It was such an exciting and special experience, and I’ll never forget it. Thank you for letting me be a part of this story’s early journey. ❤️

Maisie and Nick had a one night stand months ago. They both found it hard to forget the other. When Maisie and her family spend Christmas at a Christmas tree farm, she is surprised to find out that the owners brother just so happens to be Nick. Now, they have a week to spend together and see if they were as good together as they remember.
I found the relationship between Maisie and Nick to be too instalove. I had a hard time finding their relationship to feel believable. I’ve enjoyed all of the other Sophie Sullivan books I’ve read, this one just didn’t do it for me.

You make it feel like Christmas by Sophie Sullivan is a cute xmas story.
Maisie and Nick have met before – we find out a lovely date one night stand.
They meet again and the story is just this side of Hallmark. Not too cheesy – the right amount of cuteness. I enjoyed the story.

This was the kind of cozy, low-drama holiday romance I live for around Christmas time. (Or in June, because sometimes you're just in the holiday spirit...)
All bets are off the moment Maisie and Nick are snowed into each other’s lives (again), and their chemistry is undeniable from the start. Maisie is sharp, independent, and not here to entertain the guy who ghosted her. Nick is a lovable, anxious mess with just enough charm to make you root for him, even when he’s fumbling. The Christmas tree farm setting adds a Hallmark-worthy backdrop, but the story never leans too hard into cheesy. Instead, it balances emotional depth with playful banter. If you're into second chances, forced proximity, and characters who actually talk through their issues, this one's worth the read.

I was a little hesitant going into this one—I’m not usually into campy, Hallmark-style Christmas romances, and the cover gave me slight candy cane wonderland vibes. But I’m happy to report this leaned more grounded than glittery, and I was pleasantly surprised (Don't come for me, I'm a scorpio).
Maisie is a photographer trying to stay focused on her goals, and Nick is a pro hockey player recovering from injury and figuring out what’s next. Their one-night stand from earlier in the year unexpectedly turns into a second chance when Maisie ends up spending the holidays on Nick’s sister’s tree farm.
I liked how emotionally layered both characters were—Nick’s anxiety and career uncertainty, Maisie’s protectiveness over her future. There’s a lot of heart here, and while the book does have small-town charm and family holiday chaos, it didn’t go over the top with the festive fluff.
Hockey was a major thread, and while the balance between the farm storyline and the hockey arc felt a little uneven at times, it still worked overall. The romance had tension and chemistry, but the steam level stayed more closed-door—just enough spice to feel something without being fully open-door.
If you like holiday romances with a bit of emotional depth, a grounded small-town setting, and just the right amount of seasonal focus, this one’s a solid pick.
Tropes: second-chance romance, holiday setting, athlete hero, forced proximity, family drama, slow burn, closed-door spice
