Unfortunately this book was just meh for me. I typically enjoy the author's books, but nothing special really happened. I'm thinking it's because it's a novella instead of a full length book. I'll continue to read more books from Hendricks as I usually enjoy her work.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC of this book.

A nice short mystery you can read in one sitting ! Very eerie and mysterious you won’t see what’s coming !

I really struggled to understand the point of this. There was not enough description and development to really make me invest in the story. This was very dull and meaningless. Thanks for the ARC, NetGalley.

The Sublet by Greer Hendricks pulled me in right away with its intriguing premise. The writing was strong, and I found myself invested in the story and eager to see where it would lead. Hendricks did a great job creating suspense and keeping me turning the pages.
However, the ending felt abrupt and left me with more questions than answers. Just as the story was building momentum, it wrapped up too quickly, which made it feel unfinished. I wanted more depth and resolution to match the strong setup.
Overall, it’s a good, quick read that kept my attention, but the rushed conclusion held it back from being truly satisfying.

This is a very short novella with quite a good premise but feels extremely rushed . I think another 50 pages or so could have resulted in a much better story

I would like to preface this by the fact that I don't generally like novellas and that I really do like her stories that are co authored. But this thriller is kind of standard with a whiff of the supernatural. Filled with expected tropes of a ghost writer, a crazy lady she us writing for, and the usual fallout. The characters are not compelling enough to carry the story on its own.

Many thanks to Netgalley for the e-audiobook!
So I listened to this while driving and it kept me hooked. I didn't find the plot overtly complicated and the twists were expected but I enjoyed the narrator as well. Would definitely recommend to this to someone who wants to read a short story thriller!

A quick twisty read! I loved that this was one I could sit and read in one sitting. While it wasn't the most suspenseful read, it kept me entertained enough to enjoy it.

A short story about a ghostwriter who is hired to write a non-fiction book with a life coach/health guru woman named Melody. The writer, Anna, gets the opportunity to sublet her dream apartment and then things begin to get weird. I really enjoyed this story but it felt rushed at the end. I would have liked for Hendricks to flush this out a bit more - maybe the beginnings of a full book?

This felt so unfinished to me, because I’m just not a short story person and I want all the exposition, the character building, the slow burn of a full novel. For a short story, it was good - a little creepy, a solid setting - but I wanted more time to get to know the characters, and the end felt a little forced.

I love a good short story but this one left something to be desired. The bath tub being in a closet made no sense and I guessed immediately that Melody was the owner of the apartment.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed reading The Golden Couple last year, and figured I’d enjoy this. It was just ok. Another formulaic thriller/suspense novel that was a little short on the suspense.
This wasn’t bad, but there’s just so many thrillers out there that it a book has to be excellent to stand out in this genre. Just my two cents.

Usually love Hendricks but this was boring and confusing. Lacked substance and direction. Dissapointed because I’ve loved other books by her and Perkins

I love this author and this book was wild and crazy. I had the biggest twist figured out pretty fast but it didn't take away my enjoyment of the story at all.

I really enjoy Greer Hendrick's books. However, this short story didn't really excite me. In fact, it was a bit boring. I didn't connect with the characters at all and nothing really happened through the story. The ending seemed unfinished and unfulfilling.

I wasn't totally taken by this book. I wasn't gripped by the characters and by the time the story began to grip me I was already half way through the book.

This was a short and quick thriller novella by one of my favorite authors.
I was pulled in right away and read the whole story in one sitting. It was bingable but left me wanting more out of the story. Overall would recommend.

I just finished The Sublet by Greer Hendricks, and what a wild ride! This book totally pulled me in from the first page. It’s twisty, tense, and full of that psychological suspense Greer Hendricks does so well. The story keeps you guessing, and I loved how the characters felt so real and flawed. If you’re into fast-paced thrillers with lots of surprises, definitely check out this book.

not everyone is cut out to write short stories, and that's okay, we can do without the weird pacing, the plot holes, and the overused elements. I can see this being a lot better if she had more time to expand on the creepiness and more room to veil the very obvious hints of what was happening

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC!
The Sublet by Greer Hendricks is a short, atmospheric thriller that blends wellness-culture satire with subtle suspense. It’s moody, smart, and unsettling in just the right ways—though its brevity leaves some threads untied. Perfect if you want a quick, chilling read that lingers.
