A quick twisty read! I loved that this was one I could sit and read in one sitting. While it wasn't the most suspenseful read, it kept me entertained enough to enjoy it.

A short story about a ghostwriter who is hired to write a non-fiction book with a life coach/health guru woman named Melody. The writer, Anna, gets the opportunity to sublet her dream apartment and then things begin to get weird. I really enjoyed this story but it felt rushed at the end. I would have liked for Hendricks to flush this out a bit more - maybe the beginnings of a full book?

This felt so unfinished to me, because I’m just not a short story person and I want all the exposition, the character building, the slow burn of a full novel. For a short story, it was good - a little creepy, a solid setting - but I wanted more time to get to know the characters, and the end felt a little forced.

I love a good short story but this one left something to be desired. The bath tub being in a closet made no sense and I guessed immediately that Melody was the owner of the apartment.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed reading The Golden Couple last year, and figured I’d enjoy this. It was just ok. Another formulaic thriller/suspense novel that was a little short on the suspense.

This wasn’t bad, but there’s just so many thrillers out there that it a book has to be excellent to stand out in this genre. Just my two cents.

Usually love Hendricks but this was boring and confusing. Lacked substance and direction. Dissapointed because I’ve loved other books by her and Perkins

I love this author and this book was wild and crazy. I had the biggest twist figured out pretty fast but it didn't take away my enjoyment of the story at all.

I really enjoy Greer Hendrick's books. However, this short story didn't really excite me. In fact, it was a bit boring. I didn't connect with the characters at all and nothing really happened through the story. The ending seemed unfinished and unfulfilling.

I wasn't totally taken by this book. I wasn't gripped by the characters and by the time the story began to grip me I was already half way through the book.

This was a short and quick thriller novella by one of my favorite authors.
I was pulled in right away and read the whole story in one sitting. It was bingable but left me wanting more out of the story. Overall would recommend.

I just finished The Sublet by Greer Hendricks, and what a wild ride! This book totally pulled me in from the first page. It’s twisty, tense, and full of that psychological suspense Greer Hendricks does so well. The story keeps you guessing, and I loved how the characters felt so real and flawed. If you’re into fast-paced thrillers with lots of surprises, definitely check out this book.

not everyone is cut out to write short stories, and that's okay, we can do without the weird pacing, the plot holes, and the overused elements. I can see this being a lot better if she had more time to expand on the creepiness and more room to veil the very obvious hints of what was happening

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC!

The Sublet by Greer Hendricks is a short, atmospheric thriller that blends wellness-culture satire with subtle suspense. It’s moody, smart, and unsettling in just the right ways—though its brevity leaves some threads untied. Perfect if you want a quick, chilling read that lingers.

This was very uneven, and had no depth. The ending felt abrupt.I don't understand the twist at the end and what the stakes were. Felt choppy and lazy writing.

A slick, atmospheric thriller perfect for a quick suspense fix. If you love short, twisty stories with mood and momentum, The Sublet delivers. But if you crave deeper character arcs or a more satisfying, expansive conclusion, you might feel like it stops just as it’s getting started.

The Sublet was written well and I thought the beginning was exciting with the main character driving off into the night and we don't know the reason. But from there, I thought the story fell a little flat. The grand reveal I thought wasn't so grand, and I had a feeling of "that's it?" when I finished reading.

A very anti-climactic short story. Nothing much happens and it's a bit confusing. Definitely not a new favorite.

Anne is a ghostwriter who gets hired by the newest viral wellness coach, Melody. It comes with gruesome hours and demands but with the help from Melody, Anne's family gets to move into a seemingly perfect sublet but mysteries arise once they move in.

I love a good short story but this was just not one of them. It was a quick and engaging enough with a little suspense but the ending felt rushed and overall was anticlimactic and not for me.

Thank you NetGalley for this eARC!

Pros: everything
Cons: it was a short story. I want more! I am such a huge fan of Greer and all of the books they have written in the past, including the co-author books. This author has a way of drawing you in from the first word and not letting you go until months after you have finished reading, and this short story was no different. I finished it about three weeks ago and I still can’t get it out of my mind. Do yourself a favor and take a couple hours to read this. You won’t regret it.

Liked this short story but wanted more. I felt like this could have been a regular book because the ending felt kinda rushed but overall really enjoyed
