Wow wow wow, love what she writes. Great story that I couldn't put down... Great as a partner great as a solo writer will continue to read this author.

I read and listened to this one, and just holy crap what a thrill! It had me hanging onto the edge of my seat the entire time from start to finish!

Anne is a ghost writer and is currently working on a motivational book for someone who went viral on TikTok and scored a book deal. She finds herself in a new apt and then notices a few weird things, causing her to dig a little deeper.
I must admit, I have not read short stories before but this just felt SO abrupt. There was not a lot of room for character development or much of a plot. I was hooked but unfortunately, for me, it didn’t deliver. There seemed to be a lot of background and build up and then the twist and ending were just rushed.
Thanks to NetGalley for a free copy in exchanged for an honest review!

This short story was a nice, quick read! It definitely kept me wanting to read. I really thought there was going to be a big twist at the end and I was kind of disappointed when there wasn’t.

Thank you to NetGalley and Amazon Original Stories for the ARC. My opinions are my own.
This was an interesting little story, even if it was relatively easy to guess where the mysteries were leading.
Quickly summarized: Ghost writer moves to a cheap sublet with her family and tiny clues to a larger mystery turns up in her apartment and everyday to something more sinister going on.
I can't say too much without spoiling everything. Let's just say that it was a pretty clever setup of clues and dialogue leading to the resolution. It was slightly uncanny and felt very ... claustrophobic in a sense.
Cool little story. Didn't blow me away, but for the 40 ish pages it lasted it did entertain me greatly. If you have room for 40 pages of a mystery in your day, I do recommend this. If you generally don't like short stories for being "too short" and "uncooked" then this won't resolve those gripes for you.
Giving this 3 stars. Entertaining, nothing amazing.

A nice easy short story read. I like Greer alot and this was a nice quick story. I am hoping for another longer one from her soon!

Greer Hendricks never disappoints! The Sublet was a fast-paced short story that I devoured in one sitting. This is a gentle reminder that if something is too good to be true, it normally is.

A nice short story with a twist I didn’t expect!
I wish there was a little more to the story but it was still intriguing.
I wanted to know more about the apartment 😬

The Sublet follows Anne, a ghostwriter whose demanding boss Melody connects her with a fantastic apartment to sublet. She moves in with her husband, but quickly discovers all is not what it seems.
One pro of this book is the writing style- it’s engaging and keeps the reader turning pages. Unfortunately, I did find that I was turning pages toward a fairly convoluted and anticlimactic end. It’s worth reading, especially if you like short stories, but it didn’t leave much of an impression for me. I’ve enjoyed this author in the past, however, and look forward to her next book.
Thank you to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for allowing me to read this ARC!

This was a twisty, quick read! I wouldn't say this is a deeply suspenseful story, but it was a good one nonetheless.
This is definitely for fans (or fans of the lore of) Rachel Hollis, goop, wellness influencers, etc.
Thank you to Amazon Original Stories and the author for my advance copy!

Creepy, entertaining and suspenseful. I liked the wellness angle and the interesting story of a ghostwriter given a referral to a too-good-to-be-true sublet. The writing was fast-paced and engaging. The ending was a little bit of a letdown for me and didn't bring as much drama as I hoped for from the plot, but I still found it an entertaining read. 3.5 stars.

This short story has the creep factor showing up in a lot of media lately. It plays with the question of: Is this wellness retreat authentically for my greater good… or am I really in a cult? One could argue both, depending on how far you go and what you believe.
When motivational guru Melody gives struggling writer, wife, and mother Anne a lead on a beautiful sublet, what could possibly go wrong?
It’s a fun, zippy ride with a bit of a cautionary tale of at least doing a background check on places, people, and opportunities that seem too good to be true.

Not usually a big short story fan but I like this author so decided to give The Sublet a chance! Unfortunately, I found it a bit lacking and pretty boring. There was a bit of suspense about 75% of the way through, but the ending fell flat and I was left feeling quite disappointed. Looking forward to the author's next full length one!

Sublet follows the story Anne, a ghostwriter, mother, wife and everything in-between. Life is busy and Anne is stretching herself thinner everyday.
She then lands a deal with Melody Wells.
Melody is big in fitness and well-being and visualisation workshops; planning a book and a new line of well being supplements. The only thing is she needs Anne to write the pages.
Anne agrees to take on the job and very quickly, Melody increases the deadlines and Anne is working longer hours to fulfill the contract.
When Melody offers Anne a lead in a wonderful and spacious sublet, Anne believes things are getting better for her and her family. Melody was going to be the change she needed.
But things quickly become apparent that there is a darker past to the apartment and possiblely Melody herself.
Thoughts
A solid story - and enjoyable.
Kept me guessing and putting the pieces together.
I thought the author wrote the characters well - I could relate a to Anne, that feeling of juggling everything and feeling a little stretched. The desire for life to be a little easier so you can live better.
The build up was slow, delivering a few moments of tension, each time the tension length increased. It came together really quickly at the end and felt like the pace really picked up.
I'm glad the author gave the reader a brief look into the life of the characters in the end - it rounded things off so it had a sense of finality and conclusion.
For a short story, I think the author delivers a solid story line and interesting thriller.

Karissa Vacker is one of my favorite female narrators and she can make any book better. I just love listening to her and this was no exception. She did a great job of bringing Anne to life.
I often feel a short story doesn't bring enough of the characters to life due to the short time frame reading, but I was able to know Anne and Melody.
This was a quick listen/read and while not my favorite, it was a nice change of pace. Except I struggled a little understanding the ending.

This is definitely a fast paced thriller. I wasn’t expecting it to be such a short read but it was good!

I’m not sure what I was expecting from such a brief short story. I am a huge fan of Greer Hendricks. With that said, this story fell short for me.

I really enjoy Greer Hendricks’ writing, so I looked forward to this ARC. I didn’t realize how short of a short story it was- so I read it in only about 30mins. It was good but not great, the suspense/build up fell a little flat and was disappointing in my opinion . I look forward to the next novel from Hendricks!
Thanks NetGalley and Amazon Original Stories for this ARC!

A quick and entertaining novella by Greer Hendricks who usually is part of a literary duo with Sarah Pekkanen.
I quite enjoyed this and I felt it did actually have the potential to have been a full blown novel. As such it is very faced paced and blows right through all the fluff and gets right to the nitty gritty.
The story centers around Anne a ghostwriter hired to write a wellness book for wellness guru Melody who is very demanding and soon becomes a bigger part of Anne's life than she anticipated.
As far as Novella's go this one is solidly entertaining.
Many thanks to Amazon for providing me with a copy of this Novella via NetGalley for review. All opinions are my own.

This book had all the makings of something that could be a good psychological thriller, but because it was a short story, everything felt too rushed. The plot didn't have enough time to develop and I didn't empathize with any of the characters. Perhaps in a full length format the story would have been better. That said, I do enjoy a short-story from time to time and enjoy many of Greer Hendricks other titles so I was excited to read another from her. Over all I'd give it 3 stars.
