If you’re a fan of cozy mysteries, sharp banter, chemistry‑lab jokes, this one’s a must‑read. I could not put this book down from the second I picked it up. It’s a breezy, binge worthy page turner that reminded me so much of an old 2000's movie i used to watch on repeat called John Tucker Must Die.
It felt very different to the books I've been reading latley and thats a good thing. If you love strong female friendships with revenge plots that go sideways, you will love this.

What a fun read!
If you are looking for a fun, murder mystery that is very much John Tucker Must Die vibes, this is for you! This is definitely a funny and entertaining read with a twist at the end that I totally didn't guess until a chapter before it was revealed (and then it was satisfying to know that I was right).
I loved all the characters (besides Tucker, obviously - what a butthead).
I love how all the characters came together and I enjoyed the side of romance that this story had as well.
This is my first book from Gloria Chao and I'm looking forward to reading more!
Thank you so much to Harlequin Trade Publishing and Gloria Chao for providing me with this ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Quotes:
"Even the worst storms can lead to a rainbow."
"As long as you have someone you love on your side, you can do anything, even feel hope when you're at rock bottom."

When three women find out they have been dating the same name, they come together to get revenge. When they discover his body, they for the Ex-Girlfriend's Murder Club to figure out who killed him before one of them goes down for the deed. This trio is funny, witty, sometimes heart-warming, sometimes foul mouthed and very determined to get to the bottom of their boyfriend's murder. However, suspects pile up all over the place, because everyone had a reason for wanting Tucker dead. This has a great twist at the end, and I really enjoyed the humor. Great read!

When it comes to women supporting women, this novel hits all the marks! Imagine finding out your boyfriend wronged you in more ways than one...and then finding out he's done the same thing to other women!
The plot definitely became intriguing when these women befriend each other, plot a revenge prank on him, and ultimately find him dead while doing so. The plot definitely thickens even more when the women are forced to prove their innocence by conducting their own investigation into their boyfriend’s murderr.
Aside from the fun amateur sleuthing and great narration by Carolyn Kang, some elements fell flat for me…especially when it came to one particular revenge move. I also felt like the book could have been a little bit tighter and much shorter. Some parts of it felt overly drawn out and even unnecessary and I found my mind wandering while listening to the audiobook.

Thank you @netgalley @htpbooks and @readmirabooks for this advanced copy!
I was so excited for this one, and I knew based on the synopsis that it would be humorous. The idea of three girls all dating the same guy- and then becoming best friends to extract revenge- felt like the perfect summer read. Unfortunately, the plot fell short for me. The writing/story felt a bit too childish at times, and I never connected with any of the characters. I also think the whole podcast segments didn’t fit at all, and never really amounted to much. I loved the premise for The Ex-Girlfriend Murder Club, the book just didn’t work for me.

The Ex-Girlfriend Murder Club by Gloria Chao is a really enjoyable cozy murder mystery. (No blood and guts or severed limbs, just a nice neat corpse discovery.)
Pros:
•The women scorned by the same cheating man band together to get revenge, then stay together to prove their innocence in the man’s murder
•Kathryn is a little needy and a little dorky and she is loved for her quirks.
•”Malaphors” which are mixed up metaphors that the ladies use to explain things and encourage each other. They made me giggle.
•It seems like this may be the start of a series, which I would be down to continue reading.
•Loved Kathryn’s and Olivia’s characters
•Interesting twists to keep the story a page turner.
The Ex-Girlfriend Murder Club is a great beach read, pool read, vacation read as well as a great anytime read.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝘅-𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗹𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 definitely had 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻 meets 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝗧𝘂𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗗𝗶𝗲 vibes, but with a murder twist! The plot was heavily influenced by the friendship between the three women that were done wrong by their boyfriend, Tucker, who they find dead when trying to prank revenge him. Obviously, they become prime suspects in his murder and are forced to amateur sleuth their way out of that. I’m all about women supporting women stories, so I appreciated that part of the story. The audiobook narration by Carolyn Kang was done really well and definitely made the story come to life! The narrative did feel slightly repetitive at points, especially when it came to the mention of the poop revenge element. I don’t know that it was even necessary to the plot (in my opinion anyways), but it was definitely mentioned a lot. Although I did see the final plot twist coming, I thought it was a clever way to wrap up the story!

The Ex-Girlfriend Murder Club is an easy to read, comedic murder mystery. Think popcorn thriller! It almost reminded me a bit of the vibes I got when reading Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice For Murderers.
A group of women find themselves banding together to get revenge once they find out that their partner, Tucker, was cheating on them all with each other, simultaneously. In a quick turn of events, he ends up dead (!) and they must quickly work to find out who killed him, as they now become suspects for murder. It was difficult to remain engaged at times, but keep in mind that the storyline and characters are not that deep. Overall, it was a lighthearted and entertaining, quick read. There are so many silly moments in this story!
Something that was unique to this book that I liked was the side notes about phrase origins every time a well-known phrase was used!
Thank you to Harlequin Trade Publishing / Mira Books, the author, and NetGalley for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book is just fun! It's a mystery with girl bonding and lots of laughs. I loved the characters and the pace. It sucked me in from the beginning. I read it in one sitting.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this arc.

This book was so fun!! A take on John Tucker Must Die for all my millennial followers out there! 3 ex girlfriends group together to get revenge on their cheating ex by breaking into his condo and spreading poop 💩, glitter ✨and frogs 🐸 throughout to try and teach this cheater a lesson. Only to get a shock of their own when they discover his body! Now the must figure out who killed their ex, Tucker, before they go down for it! I had so much fun reading this and couldn’t put it down. It was really refreshing and had me giggling while trying to also solve this murder. I really felt like I was one of the girls getting revenge. There is a plot twist and I 100% did not see it coming! Which is something that I love because I can usually guess when or what they are. If you’re looking for a fun, cozy mystery check this book out! You won't be disappointed!

The Ex-Girlfriend Murder Club by Gloria Chao was such a fun book!
What a hoot! The characters were unhinged in the best way. Well written and fleshed out.
The story was crazy, and I loved every minute of it!
Highly recommend!

The Book:
Kathryn Hu is having a terrible day at work. The absolute worst day. The only thing that will lift her spirits is seeing her boyfriend - the thoughtful Tucker Jones. But Kat's day just gets worse.
It turns out that Tucker Jones has another girlfriend! Actually - it turns out that Tucker Jones has 3 girlfriends and these 3 ladies team up to seek their revenge.
They break into his apartment and let loose with the pranks (mostly harmless, but disgusting pranks) and stumble upon Tucker Jones's dead body.
And who could look guiltier than three ex-girlfriends out for revenge with their DNA all over his apartment? Now they have to go undercover to find out what really happened to Tucker Jones to clear their names.
My Thoughts:
I thought this book was so funny. The first part of the book reminded me of the movie The Other Woman (which I still think is funny). Some of the pranks were pretty gross and there was definitely a lot of poop humor, but I thought the prank with the frogs was genius and it still makes me laugh and there was a twist at the end I was not expecting and loved.
I loved Kat's quirks (She loves to know the origin of sayings, so I learned a lot about that).
Tucker Jones is a name that I feel needs to be said as a complete name - Tucker Jones!

Easy, cheesy, quick read. Felt like this was a good palette cleanser to get you out of a slump. Gave a good laugh and had nice short chapters.

‘The Ex-Girlfriend Murder Club’ is a cozy murder mystery starring three women who become friends after learning they’re all dating the same guy. They must figure out who the real killer is to clear their name after they find their ex dead in a closet while trying to exact revenge. I loved the friendship between Kathryn, Olivia and Elle and Kat’s interest in the history of idioms/metaphors was a fun addition. I wish the “hot cop” was a little better at his job and the mystery was at times silly, but overall the book was very entertaining and I did not see the plot twist coming. ‘The Ex-Girlfriend Murder Club’ is perfect for fans of Finlay Donovan and Vera Wong and I will definitely be picking up the sequel!
4.5/5 stars

I really really enjoyed this book! It was the perfect cozy mystery. Fun, clever, and full of heart. The plot kicks off with three women discovering they’ve all been dating the same man, and their revenge plan takes a dark turn when they find him murdered. What follows is a hilarious and twisty whodunit that kept me hooked from start to finish. Kat, Liv, and Elle were such a dynamic trio. Smart, chaotic, and so easy to root for. I especially loved Kat, the quirky chemist, and all the science puns sprinkled throughout! The mystery was layered but still lighthearted, and the friendship between the women was honestly my favorite part. If you love funny, female led mysteries with heart and humour, this one’s for you! Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

This has to be one of the easiest 5 stars I have ever given!
This book blew my expectations out of the water in the best way possible. I am still in awe over how much I loved it. Gloria Chao does a wonderful job of keeping the comedy up while touching on heartfelt topics like trust. I became attached to these characters and wanted them to succeed in every way possible. Not only were the characters well fleshed out, but the pacing of the storyline is what really drew me in. I was hooked from the beginning and the interest only built over time. I was on the edge of my seat the whole way through! I will be highly recommending this to everyone as soon as it is published!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc and alc.
I thought this book was enjoyable and laugh out loud funny. This is the first book I have read by Gloria Chao, but it will most certainly not be the last I read of hers! I love how the girls bonded together to take down that jerk, and how they ended up forming a friendship. The ending had me speechless, so trust me, be prepared to be shocked!!! I also thought that Carolyn Kang did a great job with the audiobook narration and I would definitely listen to more narrated by her in the future. \
Overall, a great and funny read!

Fun gang of ex-girlfriends forced into investigating the murder of their ex, whose body they find while sabotaging his apartment. Cozy popcorn mystery with a side of snark and a bumbling podcast. Thanks to NetGalley and MIRA/ Harlequin for an advanced copy for an honest review.

I picked up The Ex-Girlfriend Murder Club drawn in by its fun, vibrant cover and the promise of a revenge-filled mystery featuring three women teaming up against a cheating ex. It sounded like a playful twist on John Tucker Must Die with a murdery edge but unfortunately, it didn’t quite deliver.
Coming off a gritty, five-star thriller, this cozy mystery felt overly cheesy and lacked the depth I was hoping for. Kathryn, the character meant to be the quirky, nerdy heart of the group, just ended up irritating me. Her actions and inner monologue felt forced, and instead of rooting for her, I found myself rolling my eyes.
The structure didn’t help either, having only Kathryn’s point of view made the story feel narrow and occasionally confusing. A rotating POV between the women could’ve added much needed depth and clarity, and would’ve made the group dynamic more engaging.
The podcast subplot felt like an unnecessary gimmick. Instead of adding intrigue, it came off as dishonest and left a sour taste. Similarly, the involvement of the police officer especially encouraging a civilian to investigate the murder and groveling at the suspect’s feet was bizarre.
Ultimately, the book didn’t land for me. I couldn’t connect with the characters, the mystery lacked real stakes, and it felt more like a watered-down remake than a fresh, fun spin on revenge. If you’re looking for a darker or more grounded mystery, this might not be the right pick.

Kat, Elle and Olivia are an unlikely trio of women who are linked to one man and find themselves in the middle of his murder investigation. Fearing they'll be the target of the police; they cover up the murder of their ex and band together to solve the crime while also trying to stay off the radar of an overzealous podcaster who is also out to solve the murder - truth be damned!
This was a good debut that has some outlandish bits, a trickle of humour (not laugh-out-loud for me), some (unnecessary) romance and Insta-Friendship between the trio. I enjoyed the focus on female friendship and the word nerd in me enjoyed learning the etymology of various idioms that are liberally sprinkled throughout the story. And while their cover-up was really gross and immature, go into this mystery expecting a fun and farcical Stephanie Plum meets Dial A For Aunties kind of murder mystery with lots of she-nanigans.
This is a light-hearted mystery with murder, chaos, girl power and lots of mayhem with an ending that I didn't see coming.
