“She was here to do what she was best at. Teia Carthan had come to strike a bargain.”

A great and tidy finish The Inferno’s Heir Duology.

Teia Carthan is back, but this time as a Queen. But threats from Cornelius Lehm still loom, and she must travel to Shaylan to warn her cousin of a plan that could ruin the Five Kingdoms.

“‘Astronomical odds, unlikely chances, and a plan that’s all but impossible?’ He said. ‘I wouldn’t miss it for the world.’”

I fell in love with Teia and her rebel friends in Inferno’s Heir, and I was so excited to see where the story went. Whilst at times predictable, it was just as much fun as the first book. Full of action, witty banter, and insane heists, this story was an amusing read. I love Teia’s ragtag group of friends that become family, they all add different and exciting elements to the story.

I finished this book feeling satisfied. Everything came together very nicely and the story felt complete.

“Happiness can be found outside of crowns and thrones.”

Thank you Netgalley and Bindery Books for this ARC.

This is the second book in a duology that started with last year’s Inferno’s Heir. I adored this sequel. I feel like this book was able to expound on the lore and richness of the world in the best ways.

This story has now ended, but I will think do this world often. Tiffany Wang is a great writer and I’m very excited to see what she does next. One day, I hope she might revisit this universe. This book felt like a reunion of friends with higher stakes, and genuine earned character growth. Well done!

Thanks to NetGalley and Bindery for giving me this ARC in return for an honest review.

Read the first book because someone recommended it on their instagram stories a while ago and when I randomly stumbled across the second book on netgalley I was pleasantly surprised.
I enjoyed the story and think it was an appropriate conclusion for this duology. I hope many more people get to enjoy it!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bindery Books for this ARC and a fair review

I really loved the first book called Inferno's Heir and when i saw this, i knew I had to try to get the ARC of this book and when i got approved i screamed from the rooftops. This was such a great continuation of the first book and i really got invested in the story and genuinely enjoyed reading about Teia and her journey.

Thanks so much to NetGalley and Bindery Books for access to this eARC in exchange for an honest review. So this book was so much better than I was expecting. Inferno’s Heir was slow in some places but I felt like the tension and plot in Tempest’s Queen was way more fast paced. And just enjoyable. I loved all the twists and turns and honestly wish I had read it sooner. Highly recommend if you enjoyed the first book in the series. It was a great end to the duology. Can’t wait to read more by this author.

This second a final book in this duology follows Teia on her quest across the Dark Sea to Shaylani to stop Lehm from summoning the Serkawr. Stopping this will save the Five Kingdoms from ruin. Teia runs into former friends who may just trust her enough to help with her plans of stopping Lehm. In the end villain and hero are not necessarily who you think they are.

Tiffany has created another book full of heists and Teia’s mad plans to accomplish her goals. I will say I was undecided on how I felt about Teia in the first book, but this one has turned that around. Shes not as much of a villain as I thought she was in the first book. She is able to earn the trust if her friends back and get the man she loves back as well.

I will say I feel like a lot of the plotting was done off page in this book. From what I remember of the first book we got a lot more and were able to follow Teia’s plans better. I understand the reasoning that is explained at the end, but it felt a little too convenient to me. It wasn’t bad, I just don’t think it built into the shocking reveal it was meant to.

Overall a nice ending to this duology and a great end to a debut series.

Tempest’s Queen was a strong conclusion to Tiffany Wang’s duology. I really enjoyed how fast-paced it felt and how much tension there was throughout Teia’s journey. It did a great job of showing the weight of leadership and the struggles that come with being queen, and I liked how her choices and morality shaped the story. The pacing kept me hooked, and I thought the stakes felt real all the way through. There were sections I wish went into more detail, but definitely worth the read!

DNF'd had no idea it was a second, but seemed interesting enough to possible pick up the first. Was certainly a fun vibe to it.

A wonderful sequel! I liked Tempest's Queen even better than Inferno's Heir. The world felt richer and more colorful (though I admit I'm extremely drawn toward Asian fantasy). The characters felt more likeable too.

Solid next part about Teia and her friends. New characters plus old archenemy. Nicely written story with right amount of action, friendship, betrayal and more. I enjoyed reading it.

I definitely enjoyed this one more than the first book and think this was a satisfying ending to the story. This was such a great debut duology and I’m very excited to see what is next for Tiffany Wang.

What a satisfying conclusion to this duology! Tempest’s Queen absolutely delivers, and in many ways, it surpassed the first book for me. It builds beautifully on everything I was craving more of - more world-building, more mythology, more political complexity - and delivers with fast-paced storytelling that kept me completely immersed.

Teia’s arc in this book is incredibly rewarding. She grows into a version of herself that is stronger, more self-aware, and willing to face the consequences of the choices she made in book one. Watching her wrestle with loyalty, betrayal, and leadership made for a compelling journey. I especially loved how layered the relationships became in this installment—messy, tense, and full of consequences. It felt earned.

Wang’s writing is wonderfully fluid and accessible. It’s sharp, vivid, and flows in a way that makes the dense world of Shaylan feel real without ever being overwhelming. The new characters were a great addition, and seeing familiar faces again, especially under these new circumstances, was a real highlight.

The added political intrigue and the mythology expansion really elevated the stakes this time around. Everything felt bigger, darker, and more urgent, yet Wang kept the emotional core of the story intact. I also appreciated the faster pacing compared to book one, it made it hard to put down.

If you’re looking for a high fantasy series with a strong female lead who will quite literally burn it all down to protect what she believes in, this duology is one to check out. A great finale, and a strong finish from a very talented author.

My copy of this book was provided by NetGalley and Violetear for review purposes. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

4.25 stars: oh. my. god. tiffany wang knows how to pack a PUNCH with her writing!! i was very unmotivated to pick this up (this arc has been BEGGING me to be read for four months LMAO) but i’m so glad i finally did because wow. it was incredible. the first 40% was kinda slow, similar to book 1, but when it picked up, IT PICKED UP. the ending sacrifice was also the biggest punch in the stomach (if ykyk). tiffany wang writes the most incredible found family dynamics and that’s why i find myself returning to this universe. want even more fantasy fights and found family? tempest’s queen is a great ending to the inferno’s heir duology.

Tempest’s Queen releases on october 28, 2025. thank you to netgalley and bindery books for providing me with an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

A stunning sequel and perfect ending for this complete duology. I had really enjoyed the first book and was excited to get back into the world that Tiffany had created. Just like with the first book, I was hooked and could not look away. I always enjoy when characters are flawed and not put on perfection pedestals, and Tiffany did a great job of capturing the complexity of people and what drives them. Did I cry? Obviously.

Overall this duology is fantastic and I can't wait to read what comes next from Tiffany Wang!

4.7/5 stars. Generally, I liked the book, but I did not know that this was the second book in the series because of that it was kind of hard for me to understand what was going on for a good portion of the book but then again I really enjoyed the main character and her backstory and i enjoyed watching her formulate her plans and meeting interesting characters like Amalay, Rina, Enna, etc. I also loved the plot twist and the descriptions in the book as well. Sometimes I got tired of the descriptions but I loved how the book picked up pace

Thank you Tiffany Wang, NetGalley, and the publisher for the chance to read this ARC!

I am a sucker for a heist! Give me a world with magic, unlikely friendships, quippy characters, and a heist, and this is a ready made recipe for me to love the book! I listened to the audiobook of The Inferno's Heir and I fell in love with the world and the characters, and so I was quite excited when I had the chance to read the ARC of the sequel. While there were moments when I thought it was just a little too convenient for Teia to have the answers or have known the solution to the problem from the beginning, I understand that this is a common trope in a heist novel and suspended my disbelief to continue to enjoy the narrative and the actions in the story.

Reading this book almost felt like watching an action movie, which was undoubtably entertaining, but there were moments when I would have liked to see a bit more character development and see the way that the relationships progressed.

4 Stars

I don't know whether to count this as a tearjerker because I was crying (for other reasons aka Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3 but that's a whole different story) before the part of the book that would've made me cry, but then because I was crying already, I just started crying harder, and I'm not sure I would have cried at all if I hadn't been crying already...

Tempest's Queen is the sequel to Inferno's Heir, and I'm happy to say I enjoyed it a lot more. This may be an unpopular opinion, and I might have been in one of my mini book slumps while reading book one, but I read this book in around 24 hours, so the facts speak for themselves. It feels similar to Siege and Storm (book two in the Shadow and Bone trilogy), which could be just because of the giant sea monster. Overall, I just appreciated the exploration of the world itself, specifically through the new settings, characters, and magic. I personally found the Shaylani culture/world to be a bit more fleshed out than Erisia, and I just enjoyed seeing all the different uses of water magic, whereas we only ever see a few uses of fire magic throughout the series.

Teia has overthrown her half-brother and taken the throne, but Cornelius Lehm is still at large and poses a threat to her regime, specifically because he intends to awaken the catastrophic Serkawr - a sea monster who will destroy the world. In order to prevent Lehm from raising the Serkawr, Teia reaches out for her help from her cousin, Emperor Yuwen of Shaylan, who has only recently claimed his own throne. Just like book one, this book contains a heist or two, but everything else feels like it takes place on a much larger scale. There's plenty of tension and suspense as the dynamics between Teia and the other characters shift, and while the ending did feel a bit rushed, I was on the edge of my seat for the majority of the book. I didn't call one of the major twists, and I'm a bit ashamed of it, but it was still enjoyable and got a great reaction out of me (definitely not sarcastic). I wasn't expecting some of the plot points, but I also anticipated some that never happened, so the story kept me on my toes. Like I said earlier, I raced through this book in a few sittings, and I'm almost sad I went through it so fast because I want more from this world. Also (as I mentioned before), I kind of cried, but it wasn't 100% because of this book, so I'm not sure if I want to include it as a tearjerker yet.

Just as I hoped, we got some major complicated found family vibes in this book. I really enjoyed Teia's arc, her internal conflict, and her contrasts with Kyra. She didn't feel quite as ruthless in this book, which a part of me missed, but I also appreciated the change, and I think it made sense in the context of the plot (she's no longer scheming to the same extent she was before). Tobias took a backseat despite being the love interest, but I was okay with that. I prefer relationships in books that aren't overly lusty and that involve more slowburn development. He's still a bit bland at times, but I'm secretly hoping for more books to change that. Alara, too, didn't seem as relevant, but I enjoyed the scenes she was in, and I also appreciated the extra Enna page time. She fits in so well with the other characters. Kyra is still one of the most interesting characters to me because her arc is one that we usually see from the inside (as she would usually be the protagonist in a book like this), and watching her arc and her internal conflict from the outside provides a lot of nuance. Yuwen and Jin though...they stole the show. One of my first annotations in this book is "if either of them dies, i will not be okay," and I loved them from the beginning. I loved their dynamics, as complicated as they were. Jin was probably my favorite character overall in this book, which says a lot about me as a person that I don't necessarily approve of, but we're past that point now. Their dynamics had me way too invested.

Tempest's Queen is the nail-biting sequel to Inferno's Heir, and it provides just as many twists and turns as its predecessor while also exploring new worlds, magic, and characters. Also, it might have made me cry...so bonus points for that.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the free e-ARC!
