I received this DRC from NetGalley.
This book provides good instructions for getting started with embroidery. I have been wanting to try stumpwork, and this book made it look very approachable. I also liked that the projects were sorted by difficulty and included more advanced techniques that allowed for growth.

A very well structured book with some very cute pattern ideas! This is not a book for true beginners, but if you have done at least 3 three projects previously you should have an ok time with this book,

I've been doing embroidery for a few years now. I have picked up many many embroidery books. I thought this one was excellent. The instructions were great and the patterns were clear to read. I am going to try several patterns in this book.

There are so many sweet animal embroidery patterns in this book that range from whimsical to more sophisticated. There is so much variety with so much gift potential.

*Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.*
A great introduction to embroidery, with a section explaining the different stitches you will need for the patterns later in the book. The pictures and description in this section are great and set you up well for attempting and completing the patterns. Then you have the embroidery pattern sections separated by easy beginner and then confident beginner embroidery, then beginner thread painting and more advanced thread painting. Each pattern is well explained with diagrams and descriptions.
The patterns themselves are gorgeous! There's a wide selection and enough choice for everyone to find more than one pattern they love in each section. I personally can't wait to get stuck in on the Bumblebee Bouquet and Monarchs in Love.

If you’re looking for an embroidery book and you like the patterns on the cover, then I say pick this up! I have Jessica Long’s other embroidery book, so I jumped on this ASAP. Inside, you will find 25 really cool embroidery patterns complete with detailed instructions. There is also a comprehensive stitch guide as well as detailed information on stumpwork and thread painting. I’d never heard of stumpwork before and now I’m obsessed. I can’t wait to try it!
I think this has some pretty good information for beginner to advanced embroiderers. There’s a variety of patterns, so you can pick something you feel comfortable with stitching or want to challenge yourself with. There’s a lot of information and advice, and I like how it gets you pumped up to start stitching before you get to the patterns. I can’t wait to purchase this book when it drops.

Really beautiful projects and the instructions from beginning to end were very clear and informative. I love having something static to refer to while I work as opposed to a video. Will definitely be picking up a physical copy upon release, but I am excited to start on some pieces in the meantime.

I will absolutely be purchasing this book when it is published! I love that it has multiple chapters on equipment, stitches, and other helpful information on how to do the embroidery patterns. The patterns each have multiple pictures and a very detailed description on how to replicate the pattern and stitches. The patterns themselves are all super cute and I honestly cannot wait for this to come out!

Jessica Long has created a course to take a novice embroiderer through to needle painting. The excellent, informative first section contains all the details of the tools, techniques and stitches needed to complete all the projects in the book.
The Critter projects are a set of samplers which help the novice( and more experienced) practice the stitches needed. My favourite projects are the Seahorse Sampler and Dolphin Waves.
Next section is the Confident Beginner section which enhances the experience of the embroiderer. My favourite projects from this section include the Forest Elk and Mountain Bear.
The Beginner Needle Painting projects take the reader to the next level and include Stumpwork. Look out for the Penguin Family and Tufted Titmouth Wreath projects
I highly recommend this book to someone wanting to create needle painting embroidery add depth to their embroidery experience .
I received a free copy of the ebook in exchange for an honest review.

This is excellent for learning new embroidery stitches and adding color and texture to your works. The photographs and descriptions were excellent and informative. The only reason I don't think our library would purchase this is a lack of interest in embroidery books and low circulation.

One of my best friends introduced me to embroidery shortly after the quarantine of '20 and I've loved it since then! The book has great ideas and images. It's clear and easy to follow. There are several techniques I hadn't even thought about being an option. I'd definitely recommend this book!

This embroidery book has some very cute patterns with broken down step by step instructions. My only issue is that the copy I received seemed to be missing some diagram labels on any of the pictures that had white bubbles for where the ables should be. There was also a picture later in the book that was of a book with blank pages that didn't fit unless it was missing an image or description as well.

A really nice resource for both those new to embroidery and to experienced stitchers. I found the instructions and images to be clear and pretty with a good variety of things to try and learn.

A really nice book of patterns to get you started with your embroidery journey. The book starts off with a really good section of instruction on materials to use and techniques for completing the projects in the book. The patterns are super cute, and many of them are designed to be good samplers to walk you through all of the various stitches. Definitely a book to get if you're interested in freehand embroidery.

This was cute and informative! It would be the perfect gift for someone who likes to embroider. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this arc ebook in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

This book is GREAT! I've been wanting to elevate my embroidery practice with 3D/Stumpwork embroidery, and this book is perfect for that. I definitely recommend this book after you've had a few practice projects to learn the basic stiches. I like how there are varying levels of difficulty in the projects, and the book has an excellent breakdown of everything you need to know and clear lists of supplies needed. I'm particularly excited to try out the Bumblebee Bouquet (those lil bees are SO cute and fuzzy), the Beetle Collection, the Axolotl Aquarium, and the Blue Dragonfly (when I'm feeling extra brave). A huge thank you to Fox Chapel and Netgalley for gifting me with an eARC of this book in exchange for my honest thoughts.

Fantastic! I love that this is embroidery, but also stumpwork and also needle painting. Things this book has that others do not.. direction of stitching! How great is that??? I will be buying this for myself so I can I can make a few of of these fabulous rainbow snakes! And ohh the dolphin...oh and the axolotl!
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC.

Wow. This book is pure art! I absolutely love and deeply appreciate how the author/artist took the time to properly explain a wide variety of embroidery techniques, supplies, and skills before introducing the stitching and patterns. She really thought of everything! I cannot wait to get started on the Rainbow Snake or the Monarchs in Love patterns - those were my absolute favorite. Embroidery can be so intimidating, but Jessica Long really speaks to all skill levels with this book!

This is a unique embroidery book, in that it has a way higher focus on three-dimensional elements than most I've seen. The texture aspects were really cool. There's padding, to make your snakes and lizards nice and round. Turkey stitch to make your baby penguins fluffy. And most intriguingly to me, wire slip technique. These are some interesting patterns, cute and beautiful in turn, I look forward to giving some of these a shot.
