I really enjoyed this sequel and Sybil’s story. It’s full of vulnerability, self-exploration, and emotional depth that made her growth feel truly earned. While the miscommunication trope was definitely present (and at times frustrating), it ultimately made sense for these characters. They needed the space to grow before they could find their way back to each other.
The setting was an absolute summer dream—beaches, horseback rides, snorkeling, cocktails, even a summer storm. It added a warm, escapist feel that perfectly balanced the more emotional parts of the story.
What stood out most was the character development. Sybil’s mental health journey, her struggles with PCOS and miscarriage, and the way she slowly reclaimed her strength were handled with care. The romance was sweet and steady, with a love interest who actually listens and brings real emotional intelligence to the relationship. Bonus points for the fake dating setup and the banter—it gave the book a fun, lighter edge when needed.
While it didn’t quite top Mistakes We Never Made for me, this was a beautiful continuation that added depth and closure to Sybil’s arc. A solid 4 stars and definitely worth the read if you love emotional healing, second chances, and a dash of humor.

I loved Mistakes We Never Made.
When I seen book two The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain by Hannah Brown on NG I had to request it!
And y’all she did not disappoint!
I absolutely loved this book and I devoured it in almost a full day. I didn't want to put it down and when it was put down I was thinking of it.
The storyline was fun and different. Characters were all well developed.
One of my favorite reads so far this year!

Okay, y’all know how the other day I was raving about Hannah Brown’s book Mistakes We Never Made? Well, as soon as I finished that one, I picked up my Kindle and dove right into the second book in the series.
And it was just as much fun!
This next book follows the story of Sybil, and we are finally able to learn about her broken engagements and her road to romance. We also learn more about the Core Four and continue to see the power and depth of their friendship.
Although this is definitely a wonderful summer romance, I also really appreciated how it addressed mental health issues and explored some really raw, emotional situations, as well. That aspect of the story not only provided some depth and reality to this tropical paradise, but it made the story feel true and really resonated with me.
“I think about what Ash said when I first arrived; the rain is beautiful, and it always brings rainbows.”
This book is set at a dreamy resort in Hawaii. Have you visited this island paradise, and, if not, would you like to?

Thank you to Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and Netgalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review!
Eh, this one is not for me. But, I’ll start with the positives of The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain before I get in to my critiques, which really are more of my own personal preferences than strong negatives of the book.
Positives: The cover is absolutely gorgeous. Between the cover and the description of the book, I was sold on wanting to read it. The premise itself of being on the same island as two exes was intriguing. There are some fun side characters and I was in love with the premise of Sybil’s job. This is a cute book, set in paradise.
Negatives: I am not a messy FMC sort of girl and I should’ve realized from the whole “runaway bride” vibe that Sybil was going to be a mess. While there is clearly some growth that she was doing, she was still incredibly impulsive and making so many weird/stupid decisions.
I agree with other reviewers that there was so much potential for delicious tension between her and Jamie and the chemistry between them feels virtually non-existent. Where is the tension?!?
The timing of the backstory was strange to me as well: we first learn about her disastrous meeting of his family long before we even see the two of them meet. I never quite got a grasp on what drew them together in the first place, let alone what kept them together. Plus their original engagement comes out of a fight, which should be a major red flag in any relationship. Big use of the miscommunication trope, which again, is a turn off for me.
Also, it felt like there was a bit more character work that could’ve been done. I wanted Jamie to be more fleshed out and other than dealing with some family (mostly Daddy) issues, I didn’t feel like we got to see who he was.
Overall, was it a bad book? No. It was a fun book set in paradise. Definitely something one could easily read by the pool…it just happened to have a lot of my least favorite elements in romcoms which made it not for me.

I was drawn in to reading The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain by the beautiful cover and interesting premise of the novel. Unfortunately, this was not a hit for me, based largely on my dislike of the main character. During most of the novel, Sybil’s character jumps from one interest, job, and romantic entanglement to another. She seemed very immature and irresponsible to me. I did enjoy her encounters with past fiances at a resort in Hawaii but wished we saw more character development throughout the novel.
Sybil has been engaged three times, but has called off each engagement. She travels to Hawaii solo because her canceled honeymoon tickets and hotel are about to expire. While at the resort, she runs into two previous fiances and lots of drama ensues. The resort and natural beauty of the island sounded amazing in this novel, and it was fun to imagine having an island getaway there. Sybil feels attracted to her most-recent fiance, Jamie, but there is still a lot of hurt and anger between them about their broken engagement.
The author describes Sybil as a free spirit who went through many jobs, didn’t finish college after skipping final exams her senior year, and generally enjoys a bohemian lifestyle. She was a total opposite from Jamie, and though they were drawn together during the vacation, I had a hard time seeing them in a long-term marriage. They were just so fundamentally different.
The descriptions of her past relationships were entertaining, but again, made Sybil look very self-centered and immature as she rushed into planning marriage to several men, then called off each engagement as reality hit her later. The last engagement to Jamie was particularly heart-wrenching, as she went off the grid for several days right before the wedding, then broke things off during the wedding ceremony. The selfish and irresponsible nature of her actions really made me dislike her as a character.
Thank you to Hannah Brown, Forever Publishing and NetGalley for an advance reader’s copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

2.5⭐️ Thank you Hachette Audio, Forever Publishing and NetGalley for the arc and alc in exchange for an honest review.
I listened to the audiobook version of this primarily even though I had an arc as well, but I honestly think that the reason I liked it at all is because of the audiobook. This started off strong as I was intrigued by the multiple engagements situation, but as more elements began to reveal themselves I quickly found myself annoyed. The main reason being the huge miscommunication element between Sybil and Jaime. And it's entirely possible that I just prefer more open and trusting relationships between the main characters, but I am able to understand that I little miscommunication does occur and no relationship is perfect. However, in this case the amount of significant information that was just completely withheld by Sybil was too much for me to ignore. The fact that she was unable to trust this information with the supposed love of her life and man she was marrying, just spoke to how immature and not ready they were to be married. Which again, I understand was the whole point, but it was just too unrealistic for me. And without being too spoilery, Sybil and Jaime are having an extremely pivotal argument about key events that happened in the past, but Sybil hurls an immature jibe at Jaime claiming he has kept his relationship with his co-worker secret, when she honestly has no right to even address (at least in my opinion). Sybil just struck me as immature at many points throughout the story, which is fine because no one has everything figured out, but it detracted from my overall experience. This does have a unique approach to the second chance romance trope, which I normally love, but the execution of it fell a little flat for me. I do think that if you are in the mood for a slightly complicated, second chance, summer vacation romance, this could work for you.

Equal parts hilarious and heartfelt, The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain is a tropical rom-com delight with surprising emotional depth. Sybil is the kind of messy, magnetic heroine you can’t help but root for as she navigates a dream vacation turned emotional minefield. The story is complete with multiple ex-fiancés, a fake boyfriend scheme, and the haunting weight of unresolved heartbreak. Hannah Brown brings sharp wit, breezy pacing, and real vulnerability to a story that could’ve easily stayed surface-level fun, but instead offers a thoughtful look at self-worth, romantic misfires, and the courage it takes to stop running. Perfect for fans of Emily Henry or Christina Lauren, this is a vacation you won’t want to end.

Man am I a sucker for a second chance romance. I really enjoyed this one. I thought the concept was pretty unique and refreshing, and I really appreciated how much growth and awareness Sybil had developed by the end of the novel. Going through her previous 3 engagements reminded me of the movie “Definitely Maybe”, and kept me second guessing who she was going to end up with.
Overall, I was happy with her choice and Sybil and her partner are a great fit and a perfect example of right person, wrong time eventually working out at the right time.

I'm a fan of Hannah Brown but wasn't sure I'd enjoy her romance books. I'm happy to say I really enjoyed this one. I did not realize this is actually the second book in the series but I didn't feel lost at all. It reads as a standalone. The setting painted in here was done particularly well. I felt like I was on a Hawaiian beach the entire time. The characters were easy to like and understand. They definitely made questionable decisions but they made some huge strides towards change by the end. I don't want to spoil too much but the ending was perfect and gave all the closure needed. I'd recommend it, and I'm looking forward to more books by this author.

This romance read is the ultimate summer palate cleanser! Technically second in a series it can definitely be read as a standalone as I hadn’t realised it was in a series whilst reading it.
Sybil has had 3 failed engagements and a year on from her last break-up she’s convinced by her friends to use the hotel vouchers for her would have been honeymoon and go to Hawaii. Unbeknownst to her, she will bump into 2 of her exes on the trip and addresses some of her demons from her past in order to heal.
This book is such an unbelievably easy read, yes you need to accept that this is probably all a little unlikely but this didn’t detract from my enjoyment reading it. There’s also a few more important topics covered such as anxiety and miscarriage but these are handled sensitively.
I enjoyed the book so much that I’m going to go backwards and read the first one in the series soon!

Rating: 5 stars 🌟
Thank you to @netgalley , @hannahbrown , and @readforeverpub for the opportunity to read this eARC!
I really enjoyed this book! Just reading the title I was trying to guess what this book was about and especially with the author being a Bachelor alumni I thought maybe it would’ve been something similar to that. I didn’t read the first book in this standalone series but it was nothing like the Bachelor!
I really loved that this wasn’t a typical romance novel, where the guy and the girl fall in love and it’s all about their love story. Although there is a love story, I found that this book was more about the FMC, Sybil, really working through her trauma and finding herself, while also navigating her anxiety. Loving herself first, and not running away from life but facing it head-on, which is more important than any relationship with a man.
This book is definitely perfect for the summer, check it out, available now! 🎉

I loved this story, it's like The Seven Husband's of Evelyn Hugo & Mama Mia had a baby. So, it's easy to say that I was hooked from the beginning.

Received for both audiobook and ebook so review will be the same!
★★★★☆ A Twisting, Glittering Journey of the Heart
Hannah Brown’s The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain is a dazzling exploration of identity, love, and self-worth told through the life of a woman whose romantic history is as layered and mysterious as the rings she keeps in a velvet box. With rich prose and clever storytelling, Brown crafts a tale that’s both emotionally resonant and refreshingly witty.
Sybil Rain, our flawed but magnetic protagonist, moves through four significant relationships, each represented by a unique engagement ring—reflecting a different version of herself she either lost, created, or reclaimed. The novel balances romance with introspection, and its structure—a ring per part—offers a satisfying symmetry that deepens as the story unfolds.
Brown's characters are vivid, especially Sybil, whose vulnerability and strength are rendered with care. The dialogue crackles with authenticity, and moments of humor lighten the emotional weight. While some pacing lags in the second half and one or two plot turns feel slightly contrived, these are small quibbles in an otherwise compelling narrative.
Ultimately, The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain is about more than romantic love it's a story of becoming. A memorable, thoughtful read that lingers like a bittersweet melody.

The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Knight is my first Hannah Brown book. I thought it would go one way and was surprised it turned in another direction. Sybil has a history of not being authentic with her partners, often portraying herself as she believes her partners want her to be. Jamie was one person who seemed to accept her for who she was, but she was repeating her habits with him as well. Which, in turn, impacted their relationship. One year after the broken engagement with Jamie, she goes on her honeymoon on her own. But ends up running into not just Jamie but also another ex-fiancé.
Readers will better understand Sybil’s past, which explains why her relationships ended the way they did. Some heartbreaking moments included some sensitive topics. There are some humorous moments when she fake-dates one of her ex-fiancés. I liked how Sybil was able to recognize her patterns. It was a great ending, too.

I went into this book completely blind, and it was such a treat to read. I didn't expect to fall in love with civil rain as much as I did! Sybil is truly the star of this book. We meet her as a woman in her prime. She runs the social media page for a good sized brand, and seems to be living a solid, happy life. She's got solid friendships, a good job, and yet she's contemplating how she's not yet found herself in a solid, stable relationship.
We get to take a walk through her past relationships through brief flashbacks. It's not really a past/present timeline because we mostly see Sybil in the present tense, and the flashbacks are brief...just enough to give us a taste of how her past relationships have formed who she is today. In the midst of it all is her relatively fresh ended engagement to Jamie. What is it about Jamie that she just can't shake?
I love that we got to see some good tension in this book. Her ex Sebastian makes an appearance in a humbling yet humorous way, and she finds herself face-to-face with Jamie after a horrendous fall out. I really love how we explored all her life's experiences, the good, the bad, and the ugly, and got to see her work her way through it all to become a better, stronger person by the end.
I adored Jamie so much, and I'm happy with how the story between these two went. There was a lot of growth, a lot of tears, and a lot of self and mutual discovery that took place. If you'd like to read a beautiful book about falling in love with yourself, and allowing yourself to accept love, I think you'll enjoy this book.

What a fun read! When two exes find themselves vacationing in a tropical location at the same time, a fun ot line takes off. Enjoyable, well,-written. I was sad to see it end.

ARC Review: The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain by Hannah Brown ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 🌶️
Thank you to NetGalley and Forever publishing for the opportunity to read this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain continues 1 year after the events of Brown’s last book - Mistakes We Never Made. Sybil and her then fiancée Jamie had called off their wedding after a whirlwind weekend where Sybil mysteriously disappeared for 48 hours. Now, at the encouragement of her friends, Sybil takes a solo vacation to the Hawaiian resort where she should’ve spent her honeymoon with Jamie - and guess who she runs into? Jamie!
This felt like a classic second chance romance! I think readers who enjoy that trope will have a great time with this book. For me, second chance romances that are entirely based in miscommunication aren’t the vibe. Aside from the miscommunication, the book has great romantic tension and the writing style really portrayed the depth of Sybil’s emotions. Minor spoiler but I do wish that they had included a trigger warning at the front of the book for pregnancy loss, in this case it felt very jarring to see on the page without warning.

I was interested to see what Sybil’s story would be after the first book and I was somewhat let down with this story.
I did enjoy seeing the little pieces of the core 4 that we got because their friendship balances out each other.
The story starts a year after Sybil left Jamie at the altar and she needs to use her vouchers for the honeymoon before they expire. When she gets to the resort she’s surprised to see Jamie at the pool and makes up a story that she’s there with a boyfriend since she thinks Jamie’s work colleague is his girlfriend.
I just felt like Sybil kept running away from her problems and not facing them head-on. I wanted to root for her but at times it was difficult. Sybil and Jamie try to work through their issues and figure out what went wrong, but once again it was frustrating.
While there, she reaches out to her second ex-fiance, Seb, who’s on another island and then shows up at the resort and Sybil has him pretend to be her boyfriend. I couldn’t stand Seb’s character. He came across as an ass and it was not fun to read.
I did not think the whole section of the book when Sybil and Seb go out in the storm and he gets hurt was unnecessary. It seemed like it came out of nowhere.
I was glad to see Sybil and Jamie get their happy ending but this wasn’t as enjoyable as Hannah’s first contemporary release.

This is a sweet, closed door romance about past hurts and second chances. When Sybil Rain decides ti use her honeymoon vouchers from her failed trip to the alter before they expire, the last person she expects to see is her ex-fiance, Jamie. The last thing she expects to have are feelings for him. When her every move to avoid him seems to send her right into his path, she must face her past as well as her future. Cute, light read with a HEA!

this story was a hit and miss for me. I loved Sybil and her whole character: I knew I loved her from MWNM, so I was so excited to read this story! she’s full of so much love and authenticity and desire and passion, my heart broke and melted for her throughout this story.
I didn’t love the switch between male love interests halfway through the book, then turning it kind an into a love triangle (kinda, not wholly, but a little). I was fully interested in the Sybil and Jamie (even if I didn’t fully love him at the beginning) and then Sebastian kinda comes out of nowhere (and again I didn’t love him at the beginning either).
I did like how the story ultimately concluded, tying up the loose ends, but I didn’t love the multiple MMC’s split between the story.
I was going to dnf the book but when I got the ALC, I continued on and I’m glad I did bc I did like the ending.
thank you for the arc!!!
