This tells the path of Sybil’s life and it was the perfect way to lay out the book! The audiobook is great and I loved the setting of Maui, the meddling friends, and growth that happened! Thank you Forever audio for eARC

I have followed Hannah Browns life/ career ever since her Bachelor to Bachelorette days, and enjoyed her first romance novel so I was excited to be sent an arc widget for The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain! I was also gifted an alc (advanced listening copy).

We met Sybil in Hannah’s first romance novel, Mistakes We Never Made, and I was intrigued by her character in MWNM and hoped we’d get more books from this quad of best friends!

There was so much tension and rawness between Sybil and Jamie, and we got to see the growth of the characters since MWNM, within this book, and also via Sybil’s memories and recounting of past points in her romantic history. I thought some of Sybil’s personal growth “aha” moments were a little too easy to be real life, but maybe some people really do change how they see themselves faster than it works for me!

Overall the book was 4.5 stars rounded up! It is in my opinion a perfect easy summer romance.

I had to DNF after 9 days of trying to make it through the chaos that is Sybil. I made it to 41% and had to stop because Sybil gave me a stress headache. This was disappointing because I love a second chance romance. This one was just not hitting the mark for me as I felt Sybil was just too chaotic and her story was all over the place and maybe that was intentional but it was exhausting in the initial chapters as I felt she wasn’t growing, but still exhibiting the same pattern of behavior that landed her in the predicament she was in.

The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain was cute! The characters were well developed and the story was well paced. I loved how Sybil and Jamie both grew during their time apart and were able to be a better couple when they reunited. The setting of the book made me want to go back to Hawaii ASAP!

This was such a cute read if you are looking for a good summer read.

I loved Sybil’s overall growth throughout the book in sifting through her feelings and her past. We start at a resort that her and her ex-fiancé were supposed to go on their honeymoon only to run into him the first day there. Their interactions are packed with tension and burning that will leave you fanning yourself. The side characters that Hannah has incorporated into this book was amazing I especially loved the appearance of one person in particular to the island but I don’t want to spoil it.

Overall, this is a solid second book from Hannah Brown. Thank you so much to Read Forever for the widget and to NetGalley.

In the era of beach reads, The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain definitely scratched the itch. As a lover of everything romcoms (and especially Forgetting Sarah Marshall) this book fit was exactly what I was looking for.

While I did enjoy the book overall, I will say I didn't love Sybil as a character, she just wasn't my vibe unfortunately. Albeit she was a bit self-involved, she was also relatable and fun and she fit well with the narrative. I really enjoyed the setting as well, as a big Hawaii girly- I felt transported!

The plot itself was an intriguing concept, which is what led me to the book in the first place and even though it is a a romantic comedy, it did have an emotional centre that I wasn't super expecting.

As far as tropes go this one leaned heavy into the miscommunication, self discovery and second chance vibes.

Hannah Brown does it again!! I love love loved last years release and this one was nearly as good, I read it on the beach and it was perfect for that. Heartfelt, funny, and all around enjoyable.

Sybil needs to get away, and thankfully she has an already-paid-for trip to Hawaii courtesy of her cancelled honeymoon the year prior. But looks like she's not the only one who had that idea, as her ex, Jamie is there also--supposedly with his superhot "work colleague." Sybil attempts to mind her own business, taking time for self-care and self-reflection, but ends up making of a fictional boyfriend to save face. Made even more complicated by her resurgence of feelings toward Jamie and the appearance of her second ex-fiancé, who is more than willing to play the role of current boyfriend. It's time for everyone to get honest about what's in their heads and their hearts.

It feels like Mistakes We Never Made walked so that this book could run. I enjoyed the first book, which I thought was well-written and interesting, but my main complaint was the incompleteness of Sybil's story, that left of with more questions than answers and painted her the most annoying light possible. I didn't have any of those feelings about this book. It gave me everything I asked for and more, answering all my questions and giving me a complete story both of love and personal growth, and made me love Sybil so much more. If I had any complaints, it would be that the title is a bit of a spoiler, but it is otherwise an excellent read.

Thanks to Forever for my eARC! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain is a charming and heartfelt story about love, family, and self-discovery. Hannah Brown weaves a beautiful narrative full of relatable emotions and memorable characters. I loved how the story balanced moments of humor and tenderness while exploring the complexities of relationships and personal growth. Sybil’s journey felt authentic and engaging, and the romance added just the right amount of sweetness. This book is a perfect choice for readers who enjoy contemporary fiction with emotional depth.

Thank you to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing), for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain kicks off a year after the events of Hannah’s previous book, Mistakes We Never Made. It’s been a year since Sybil and Jaime canceled their wedding and Sybil’s friends convince her to go on a solo vacation at the destination where they would have honeymooned. And who else is there, but her ex, Jaime? Sybil is in for a messy adventure navigating her past and hopefully find happiness along the way.

The main issue between Sybil and Jaime is a LOT of miscommunication, so be warned! Sybil is typically one to run away from the important conversations and is not honest with Jaime in their relationship. There are some big concerns that she chooses to cover up that she’ll need to delve into if they want to move forward again.

I love the Core Four, Sybil’s friends, and hope we get to see more books about them! They were supportive of Sybil, even more than we saw in the previous book, and seem like a very solid group. I also loved the snippets of Emma and Finn we got!

The scenes from Sybil’s past relationships had the most impact to the book for me. They helped bring new perspective to Sybil as a character and everything that she has gone through.

Thank you to Netgalley and Forever for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

ARC and ALC review

Sybil's friends convince her to use the already paid vacation that was suppose to be her honeymoon.
What she doesn't expect is that Jamie, her ex fiancé, is there too.

Thank you Forever for the advance review copy and Hachette Audio for the ALC (via Netgalley).
Opinions from this review are completely my own.

What you can expect:
- second chance romance
- single POV/dual timeline
- fake dating
- romantic comedy
- PCOS representation

This book has the vibes of a rom-com, but it is more complex.
Sybil's character has a great development and the engagement rings have a deeper meaning.
She went through a toxic relationship that left her with trauma and insecurities.
This book is more about her journey of self discovery and I liked that there were flashbacks that explain why the previous relationships did not work.
The only thing that I did not like was the miscommunication.

The audiobook is narrated by Cherami Leigh, that did a very good job portraying Sybil, her personality and her feelings.
Her voice was nice and made imerse in the story.

Overall this was a good read and I would recomand the book.

Thank you so much to NetGalley & Forever for the eARC (ALC). I both read and listened to this.
3.5/5. Sybil has been through it - multiple engagements & was hoping the third time was the charm but no such luck. When she ends up in Hawaii at the same resort as two of her ex-fiancés, she is able to revisit old feelings with fresh eyes, and a better perspective.

In the beginning I felt that I didn’t relate to Sybil much, until we learned more about her past and events that led to some of the decisions she made. Loved our MMC Jamie - he seemed like a stand up guy. And no offense but I would have broke off the wedding if I was him too !

I really enjoyed the dual timelines - of getting to know Sybil’s past and seeing where the journey takes her in the present! It was cheesy at time, but overall it worked! Would recommend for those looking for a cute beach read, second chance romance & who like dual timelines.

I was pretty impressed with this book. I have no idea what the authors background is in terms of writing, but I thought it was a respectable, solid novel. With that said, certain things that the main character did really irked me. It was like she Kept making the same mistake over again and justifying it differently maybe? She had several points in the book where I thought, “OK. She just had the moment where she realized XYNZ, and now she’s gonna be different.“ And then she just… Wasn’t. She doubted the same things over and over again. I wasn’t quite sure which time to believe until we reached to the end of the book. That said, I did really enjoy this book.
3.5/5.0

Honestly, after seeing such a wide range of opinions on Hannah Brown’s debut novel, I wasn’t sure what to expect going in. But to my surprise—I loved it!

The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain follows our main character, Sybil, one year after her third failed engagement—this time to her ex, Jaime. When her friends encourage her to take a much-needed vacation to what would have been her honeymoon destination, and her boss approves it as part of her content creation work, she decides to go for it. But fate has other plans: Jaime is at the resort too.

What unfolds is a heartfelt and emotional journey as Sybil confronts her past relationships, unpacks her emotional trauma, and faces her insecurities head-on instead of burying them.

I especially loved the flashbacks throughout the book, which gave us a deeper look into Sybil’s previous engagements and what went wrong. Another standout aspect was the honest representation of PCOS—something Hannah Brown handles with care and authenticity. It added depth to Sybil’s character and made her story feel that much more relatable to so many women.

Overall, this was a solid 4-star read for me. As a fan of Hannah Brown from The Bachelorette, I’m now equally excited about her journey as a romance author. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for whatever she writes next. If you’re looking for a heartfelt, empowering summer read—add this to your list!

📜Quick Summary: When Sybil runs away from a near wedding to Starling Ranch Inn, the place that should have been their honeymoon, she’s expecting to relax…use the spa…enjoy her me time. What she doesn’t expect is to run into her ex fiance Jamie. As the nightmare unfolds, she tries to save face by making him jealous and says she’s there with her new boyfriend. In what could be no more than another surprise, her ex fiance Sebastian is there too. Can she juggle her past with her present? Can this party girl heal from her past and really give herself a chance at new love?

❣️Initial Feels: This seems like an easy breeze on a summer day, and I am enjoying the light heartedness of this read!

👀Trigger Warnings: miscarriages

🌶️Spice Level: 🌶️

📖Read if you want: second chance at love, easy summer read, Hawaiian setting, heartfelt character development

🙋🏼‍♀️Moving Character: I think Jamie and Sybil both had a lot of growth throughout their journey, but man am I happy Sybil finally TALKED and opened up to Jamie. Her instinct to run and ignore the important conversations was making me angry, and I just wanted her to stop and talk!

💡Final Sentiments: This was adorable. It wasn’t a novel you have to think too hard about, can relate to in some way or another, and is as light as a summer breeze. I enjoyed this palate cleanser and although I read it in my backyard, I could picture this summer read on a beach with a mocktail. All of the characters were relatable, and even though I sometimes dislike miscommunication type romances, I liked Jamie and Sybil’s journey. This is an easy day binge read, because it’s cozy, yet fun, and it was like I was reminiscing with a friend when Sybil thought back to all the moments that brought her to her present.

🌟Overall Rating: 4 stars

I really liked the concept of this book and the characters, but it was a little too predictable and corny for me. There is so much to a resort vacation that could have been included and would've provided for more funny run-ins or intimate scenes, but I felt like this just scratched the surface of what it could've been. Don't get me wrong, this was a fun, easy read, but I was hoping for more depth and less predictability.

"The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain" really pulled me in and grabbed my attention to kick off summertime, it was so cute!! Sybil and her more recent broken engagement was encouraged to take a vacation to Hawaii where her honeymoon was to take place to solidify and get over her ex. Upon her arrival she runs into her ex-fiance. she still is twiterpatted, and incorporates a 'closed door romance', where second chances are looming. Sybil rediscovers and tries healing from her past. She journeys to discover truly what she wants and in the process she finds herself. I think that the thing that makes this book most lovable was the personal dynamic and resonating on a personal level with Sybil. Her life and inner talk and emotional responses were relatable. There are also some heavy subjects in this book about mental health awareness, anxiety and spiraling, feeling less than others, comparing yourself to others, the pressure of being who other's expect you to be, domestic abuse, and miscarriages. These were intertwined and handled really well by Hannah Brown.

As far as Sybil and Jamie and their relationship, I appreciated the balance and banter of their relationship and their personalities. An A type and a B type where agendas can be let go, and relaxing and spontaneity can co-exist. I loved their awkward dynamic and how reconnection happened.

Thank you NetGalley, Forever publishing and Hannah Brown again for this ARC. It was a wonderful summer time read!

Thank you to NetGalley, author Hannah Brown and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) | Forever for this digital advanced reader’s copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

I loved this book way more than I imagined I would! The background setting, the men, and surprising depth of the book was breath taking. I love how things were slowly revealed as the book went on. Second chance romance, fake dating - delicious tropes. While romance is definitely a focus, I love Sybil's self discovery arc. I do wish there was more dynamic between her and her friends, but I will check out the previous/following books for that!

The Four Engagement Rings of Sybil Rain by Hannah Brown - NetGalley Review

📚 What It’s About:
When Sybil Rain jets off to Hawaii for a work trip/vacation, she expects sunshine, the ocean, and maybe a little rest - not two of her three ex-fiancés showing up at the same resort. As old flames spark and buried truths rise to the surface, Sybil must confront the tangled past of her three failed engagements. What really went wrong - and could a fourth walk down the aisle be in her future?

👤 Characters:
I had mixed feelings about Sybil Rain. We’re complete opposites - she’s an extreme free spirit, while I’m definitely not. Her impulsive actions often gave me anxiety, but I have to admit, it was fun watching her plans unfold. She’s also really into astrology, which isn’t my thing, so that aspect didn’t quite resonate with me and felt a bit over-the-top at times.
As for Jamie and Seb… I adored them both.

⏳ Pacing:
The pacing of this story was excellent! I loved the unique structure - watching the present-day events unfold while revisiting Sybil’s past engagements in reverse order, from the most recent to the oldest. I was completely hooked, especially when it came to finding out what really happened during the week of Sybil’s wedding with Jamie!

🌍 Setting:
Halia Falls is the PERFECT resort to read about in the summertime! Who doesn’t want to read about a beautiful Hawaiian island and resort?! 🌺

🔍 Predictability:
The story wasn’t entirely predictable at first, but as the author dropped clues about the wedding week mystery early on, it became easier to piece together what happened. I was invested the entire story, however!

🎯 Recommended for those who enjoy:
- Second Chance Romance 💝
- Family DRAMA 🎭
- Adventures! 🌴
- RomCom 😆😭

⭐ Rating: 3/5 stars

Final thoughts 💭
While I was definitely invested in the storyline, I found myself a bit let down as the book progressed, largely due to the heavy reliance on the miscommunication trope.

Many thanks to Netgalley & Grand Central Publishing for this ARC!
I really enjoyed this! I was expecting a fun summer romance novel but it was actually very deep and touching at times! The journey that the main character went on throughout this novel was handled so carefully and it felt so raw and honest. I really didn’t like Jamie at first, but there was so much of their story we didn’t know I did try to give him the benefit of the doubt. I appreciated how even though they clashed, there was still that connection that you felt between them when reading. The only complaint I had was that I wish the character of Genevieve was a little more fleshed out. It felt like she was there just to be there as we didn’t really get to know her at all. Another highlight for me was just the dichotomy between Sebastian and Jamie. It really represented two different paths in life Sybil could have taken. Overall, I really enjoyed this and would definitely recommend it!
