A lot of these stories were really good and had the creepy factor.
My favourites were the night nurse and molly had a dolly ,
I really loved the illustrations.
They were really creepy.
These were very like the scary stories in the book I remember from years ago but I forgot its name but there were 3 volumes.
This was a fun book to tell friends stories from it .

31 days of spooky isn’t breaking new ground, but that’s not really the point. this collection offers 31 ghost stories—one for each day of october—pulling from the classic halloween toolbox: haunted mirrors, wailing women searching for lost children, ignored warnings, and eerie artifacts that should have stayed buried. the joy here is in the format, not the originality. it’s like a literary advent calendar for spooky season.
these stories are simple, quick, and best suited for kids. older readers won’t find anything particularly chilling or unexpected, but for younger children just getting into ghost stories, this collection is a perfect entry point. they’re spooky enough to thrill without being nightmare fuel.
for me, the standout element was the art. the illustrations are moody, atmospheric, and in some cases genuinely unsettling—far scarier than the actual text. the iridescent cover and visual details make this a beautiful display book for the halloween season, even when it’s not being read.
this is a cozy, family-friendly book for little ones who want to dip their toes into ghost stories during october. if you’re looking for a gift or a nightly october ritual, this is a charming place to start.

This is a collection of 31 stories so you can read one a day leading up to Halloween or just read the book in one sitting. The stories were ok with some being better than others. These would be better for a younger audience, but some adults might like them. I like the pictures that accompany the stories. They're well done and add to the spookiness of the book.
I would recommend this to middle grade readers, families and fans of spooky stories. I was provided with a free copy of this book by Netgalley in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

Thank you @NetGalley and @HarperCelebrate for the ARC. This book is going to make a good addition to my library. Short spooky stories are perfect for my reluctant readers. The drawings through out the book are well done.

I loved the premise of this—31 spooky stories for each day in October. However, my love for this book started and ended there.
Before I continue, let me note that this was a DNF (did not finish) book for me. I only read the first 3 stories and saw no need to continue after that, so my critique is based on what I read.
First, the writing itself felt excessively basic and clunky. Secondly, there was no character development. The stories were written as a linear sequence of events. Third, the stories felt flat. There was a distinct lack of tension or intrigue.
A good idea, but heavily lacking in execution.

Book Review: 31 Days of Spooky: Ghastly Ghost Stories by Harper Celebrate
Rating: 4 Stars
As someone who adores the Halloween season, 31 Days of Spooky by Harper Celebrate was a treat I was excited to dive into. This book offers a unique experience: 31 short ghost stories, one for each day of October, making it the perfect companion to get you into the spirit of spooky season. What I really appreciated about this collection was how each tale featured a different kind of ghost—some helpful, some mischievous, and even a few canine spirits—bringing a fresh variety to the usual ghost story fare.
The book itself is as charming as the stories inside. It sports an eye-catching iridescent foil cover that not only looks fantastic but also fits seamlessly with any Halloween decoration or fall tablescape you might have. I can see it being the perfect touch on my shelf, adding a little extra spooky flair to my autumn setup.
One of the highlights for me was the vibrant and imaginative illustrations that accompany each story. They added an extra layer of eeriness and fun, making the reading experience feel even more immersive. Whether you’re curled up under your blankets, sipping hot cocoa, or sharing ghost stories with friends around a campfire, this book sets the perfect mood.
If I had to give it a little constructive feedback, I’d say that while the stories are engaging and varied, a few could have been a bit more chilling for my taste. However, overall, 31 Days of Spooky hits the mark as a delightful, well-crafted collection that balances spooky thrills with lighthearted fun.
In summary, this book is an excellent addition to any Halloween lover’s collection. It’s beautifully designed, creatively illustrated, and packed with enough ghostly tales to keep you entertained all October long. Definitely a solid four-star read for me!

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and I love ghost/spooky stories. I ended up reading this with my son and we enjoyed the stories. I do think it’s for a younger audience, but that worked perfect for me.

A Charming Collection for Young Halloween Enthusiasts
31 Days of Spooky offers a delightful assortment of 31 ghost-themed short stories, each accompanied by whimsical illustrations. Designed as a daily countdown to Halloween, the book's format encourages readers to indulge in a spooky tale each day of October.
The stories encompass a variety of ghostly encounters, from helpful spirits to mischievous apparitions, providing a light-hearted take on the supernatural. The accompanying illustrations enhance the reading experience, adding a visual charm that complements the tales.
However, the content leans more towards a younger audience, making it an ideal read for preteens or those new to the horror genre. Seasoned horror enthusiasts might find the stories lacking in depth and scare factor. Additionally, while the book is marketed for both teens and adults, the narratives may not fully engage older readers seeking more complex or chilling tales.

In summary, 31 Days of Spooky is a visually appealing and entertaining collection that serves as a perfect introduction to spooky stories for younger readers. Its daily format makes it a fun addition to the Halloween season, especially for families looking to share light scares together.

This book is basically a display item. Within the gorgeous covers are stories that are not worth reading. They may be based on folk tales, but not attributed in any way, so who knows? I can’t figure out the age range for this book either. I’m afraid it’s basically filler for displays.

Very nice! Short but original and chilling stories, magnificent illustrations, a book to absolutely take out for Halloween!

Book Review: 31 Days of Spooky: Ghastly Ghost Stories to Send a Shiver Down Your Spine by Harper Celebrate
As a dedicated fan of horror anthologies, I was initially drawn to 31 Days of Spooky under the impression that it was a graphic novel, given its placement in the manga and comics category. Discovering it was instead a collection of prose short stories was a bit disappointing. However, once I adjusted my expectations, I found the anthology to be a charming and nostalgic read.
The book offers a story for each day of October, featuring a variety of ghosts—from the helpful to the mischievous. While the tales are crafted for adults and teens, they maintain a level of spookiness that's appropriate for younger readers as well. Reflecting on my childhood, I believe I would have been captivated by these stories, especially "Molly's Dolly," which stands out as a particularly eerie tale.
The book's design is noteworthy, with an iridescent foiled cover and illustrations that enhance the storytelling experience. It's not just a collection of stories but also a decorative piece that complements Halloween festivities.
Overall, 31 Days of Spooky is a solid addition to the horror anthology genre. While it may not deliver the intense scares some adult readers seek, it successfully balances creepiness with accessibility, making it suitable for a broad audience. Honoring my inner child's enthusiasm, I rate this collection 4 out of 5 stars.

A fun collection of spooky short stories! I'm a big horror fan so these arent quite "scary" to me but they are a fun time and I think will be good for the age demographic its meant for (YA). Will be great around Halloween time because who doesnt love a spooky story!

To me, there are several types of scary stories: there are the gory ones, the truly terrifying ones that have you looking around every corner, and then there are the ones that make you think. This was a little bit of two and three. There are some spooky ghost stories in this one and ones that stayed with me a little longer than I would have liked but they were all somewhat tame. They seemed to be geared more for a younger audience as even the characters in the stories are younger than the teens that this is being marketed to. Maybe this was labeled incorrectly? At any rate, it was entertaining and clean but not something that will keep me up late at night.

I just loved this collection of very short, creepy stories. Most of them felt familiar, and there was a lot of variety. This would be a really great introduction to middle school readers who want to start reading horror. The illustrations are fun and spooky too.

Thank you to the publisher Harper and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
'31 Days of Spooky' is an anthology of short slightly scary horror tales and stories along with one or two illustrations accompanying the scary tale.
I enjoyed the book overall. Ghostly appearances, mysterious figures, and some emotional stories.
Each tale is quite different from one another: an old house that belonged to a newly wed couple, a mother in the road with her baby, two friends playing hide-and-seek in a forest and a cemetery, unsolved or hidden murders at a house or a hotel,... Many different topics and plots are embedded in this collection of short horror stories.
It is beautifully illustrated, painting and embodying the image, or the essence, of the story itself. It is a quick, fun read.

I adore Halloween, and this was the perfect little collection of cute spooky stories. Although it says for children and adults. I believe this would mainly be for children and highschoolers overall I really enjoyed it and highly recommend for any spooky lover.

Perfect book for Halloween! 🎃 👻 The stories read on the younger side but that was fine with me! And my kids liked listening along too!

The stories were short and kind of spooky, but not as well written as Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. I didn't finish this one--just not for me.

Some great little spooky sort of slightly horror stories, definitely intended for a younger/teen or new to horror audience and I think they would really love it. Very quick, to the point stories which I read super fast as they were each unique and different.

Thank you so much to netgalley and the publisher for the arc of this one in exchange for an honest review!
This book is a bunch of short spooky stories with pictures. There are a lot of different scary things and ideas explored.
This was a fun read! I enjoyed the stories and the pictures. There were a lot of spooky things going on and i enjoyed it!
This would be perfect for Halloween time! I would recommend to people looking for short spooky stories.
