As it's a book for the teen audience I liked the stories. They are not that scary for me, an adult horror connoseiure, but they are Halloween-y. I enjoyed all of them!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this free eARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

This is such a perfect little treat for spooky season; reading a story a day throughout October would be so much fun. I loved the mix of stories, and the different kinds of spookiness they each explored, without it ever feeling too scary. The illustrations were absolutely beautiful. They added a lot to the stories and made some stories that weren't necessarily my cup of tea even better. I would highly recommend for those looking to get into the Halloween mood.

I was unimpressed with this collection. The stories are not scary and seem to be written to a child audience, but most with subject matter that children would have no interest in. Best thing this collection had going is that it was short and easy to read.

The stories are too short, you don't even connect with them enough to be scared. They seem like poorly written summaries.
The images in some stories don't add anything.
It is good for reading one story a day to elementary school children on halloween

Really enjoyed reading these stories, some definitely spooked me others were entertaining to read. I did however predict some of the endings. I wouldn’t say these are scary at all unless you’re easily spooked it’s more just paranormal stories.

The illustrations were great, but I think I would have liked to see more. The short stories were really. They were all age appropriate. I did feel like the first story didn't quit hit the mark. And since it was the first story I would have hoped for a really spooky story to get things going.

31 Days of Spooky is a collection of short stories with a spookt twist. Each story is about 5-6 pages long and contains at least one a page of art.
Due to the shortness of the stories, the book makes for a relatively quick read. The stories are not super scary and do seem to be more for teens, than for adults. Definitely worth a read during spooky season though!

I have to begin by saying that it is really weird that no credit is given to the authors of these stories. No illustration credits either, which is particularly disappointing because the illustrations are the best part of the book.
Most of these stories are okay, though there’s a mismatch between the text and the illustrations. The stories aren’t particularly scary, probably best suited to the younger end of the middle reader audience or as a family read. But the illustrations are more in line with what I would expect to accompany adult or YA Horror. It feels a bit like the publisher didn’t want to commit to a demographic in terms of target audience, so as a result we end up with what is essentially a kids book that has not been marketed that way.
Some of these stories are more clever than others, though none really feel like anything we haven’t seen before. The tone is going for a Goosebumps/Stinetinglers feel, but the quality isn’t quite there for most of them. Regardless, it still bothers me that the authors did not get credit for their work, and it bothers me even more that the illustrator didn’t, as their work was notably good.

I just couldn't get into it. I wanted to like it but the stories just didn't grab my attention. The cover of the book looked great though.

A short, scary story for every day of October! Each story is less than 10 pages, so it’s a perfect read for each day. As a self admitted scaredy-cat, I found the stories to have a limited spook factor, so I think the book would be great for teens from middle school through high school. There’s also an illustration for each chapter which brings each story to life!

This is a fun collection of stories mostly for middle school aged kids. Great stories with a spooky vibe best for a read aloud story. My kids are really into R.L. Stine books and these stories aren’t nearly as scary as those so they were a little disappointed. The illustrations are great. A great book for fall and Halloween.

For what this book was supposed to be, I actually really liked it. I wasn't a fan of it being categorized as a "graphic novel." I have read graphic novels and this was not that. Also, who wrote this? Who wrote these stories??? There are no authors listed and that's a little weird for me. Who can I thank for the creation of this work?
For a book of spooky short stories? This was good. Some of these would be great to tell around a camp fire or even read in the dark with a flashlight in your own home made tent. The illustrations were equally creepy in their own way. Really bringing some life to the stories while reading. I did enjoy this and it was pretty easy to get through.
I would definitely recommend this for spooky season.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

Each of these were short, quick ghost stories (a few pages each). Some of them were scarier due to the illustrations! A few that stuck out to me were the guard playing pacman, the grim reaper in the graveyard, and the kids playing hide and seek in the woods. Would recommend as an October read, and you could read one for every day of the month!

this was so fun!!! i love halloween and this is such a good book for the holiday!!! we need more halloween spooky books out there!!

Thank you for the opportunity to preview 31 Days of Spooky. I love horror short stories. This is a fun filled book with scary short tales. Now some are better than others but all in all a good ‘spooky’ book. 3 stars

im sorry but i didnt love this. the writing felt off. could be food for middle grade but the stories didn't bring much to the table

I loved this book. I wish I had been able to read this as a countdown to halloween just for the fun of it but I just read it all in mostly one go. There are quite a few stories that will stick with me forever. Nurse Mary, the captain and the ghost ship, the girl with the child and doll, the painting of siblings that the one sibling dissappear from , and the grandmother who helps find the missing daughter are amoung those that will forever stay with me!
a thank you to netgalley for gifting me this early to read.

I guess I expect it to be different that a bunch of short stories. Some were more interesting than others

I am giving a honest review voluntarily. this book is okay. i wish it was spookier. the illustrations are good but definitely got me into the vibe for the season!

This was a cute autumn read which I will definitely be sharing with my friends and family who love this time of year!
