A short, scary story for every day of October! Each story is less than 10 pages, so it’s a perfect read for each day. As a self admitted scaredy-cat, I found the stories to have a limited spook factor, so I think the book would be great for teens from middle school through high school. There’s also an illustration for each chapter which brings each story to life!

This is a fun collection of stories mostly for middle school aged kids. Great stories with a spooky vibe best for a read aloud story. My kids are really into R.L. Stine books and these stories aren’t nearly as scary as those so they were a little disappointed. The illustrations are great. A great book for fall and Halloween.

For what this book was supposed to be, I actually really liked it. I wasn't a fan of it being categorized as a "graphic novel." I have read graphic novels and this was not that. Also, who wrote this? Who wrote these stories??? There are no authors listed and that's a little weird for me. Who can I thank for the creation of this work?
For a book of spooky short stories? This was good. Some of these would be great to tell around a camp fire or even read in the dark with a flashlight in your own home made tent. The illustrations were equally creepy in their own way. Really bringing some life to the stories while reading. I did enjoy this and it was pretty easy to get through.
I would definitely recommend this for spooky season.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

Each of these were short, quick ghost stories (a few pages each). Some of them were scarier due to the illustrations! A few that stuck out to me were the guard playing pacman, the grim reaper in the graveyard, and the kids playing hide and seek in the woods. Would recommend as an October read, and you could read one for every day of the month!

Thank you for the opportunity to preview 31 Days of Spooky. I love horror short stories. This is a fun filled book with scary short tales. Now some are better than others but all in all a good ‘spooky’ book. 3 stars

I loved this book. I wish I had been able to read this as a countdown to halloween just for the fun of it but I just read it all in mostly one go. There are quite a few stories that will stick with me forever. Nurse Mary, the captain and the ghost ship, the girl with the child and doll, the painting of siblings that the one sibling dissappear from , and the grandmother who helps find the missing daughter are amoung those that will forever stay with me!

a thank you to netgalley for gifting me this early to read.

I think it’s a really book for children to read before Halloween. It’s spooky, the stories are really great and easy to read. I think I was a bit too old to read it but I still enjoyed my reading. The illustrations are really pretty and fit the vibe soo well. I recommend for a public of maybe 10 years old, if they like this kind of short stories they will enjoy it.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving a free digital copy of the book in exchange of an honest review.

"31 Days of Spooky" is an excellent selection of short stories that are perfect to visit each day. The stories are creepy but not overtly scary or gory. This book could be fun for a family with older kids to read throughout October. I enjoyed each of these stories, and it reminded of the days of reading juvenile horror novels. The illustrations were similar in that way, and they went very well with the stories and the overall theme of the book. I would read this again.

Really lovely artwork throughout the book. It is an easy ready to get you into spooky season. It could definitely be scarier.

I am loving this approvals because spooky reads is my thing! Bone chilling stories indeed and I loved all of it I read this to my 7 year old and her friend and they loved it! They thought some stories were spooky but isn't that the point the authors writing in this stories is unique and definitely captures the readers attention I think the scenery around each story was fun and haunting IF you love ghosts this and have older kids this book is certainly for you

I wanted to like this book. The description was intriguing and I was ready to dive into a good scary anthology that I could recommend to teens for the Fall/Halloween season. Unfortunately, the stories fell flat to me. The characters were overall uninteresting and each story seemed too short to develop anything that truly felt even vaguely frightening or "spooky".

This is Scary Stories to Tell In the Dark written for adults. And I mean that in the best way. The stories are quick, with a great touch of spook, although not particularly scary.

Perfect if you're feeling nostalgic for Scary Stories, but want protagonists who don't have to ask their parents for permission for everything.

A lightly scary collection of tales great for Halloween, but good for any other time of year that you miss Spooky season. Not sure it should be marketed for teens, as nothing in it is really unsuitable for the middle school reader. I enjoyed that you could read a short story a day to stretch it out, but I read it in one sitting. (I'm a Spooky season lover!) I liked the artwork, which was atmospheric and colorful but also unmistakably macabre. I bought it for my youth Library's collection and it has already been ooohed and aaahed over!

This book had some great stories in it, but they are stories more suited for elementary/middle schooler than adults. I found the stories to be pretty juvenile and gave me more of "around the campfire vibe" then actually scare me. It did not send "chills down my spine." I did finish the book, but again, elementary or middle schoolers will LOVE it. For that audience I gave 3 ⭐️'s and my recommendation.

Thank you NetGalley, Harper Celebrate, for the eArc.
