Daisy Hamilton has been hired to stop a young couple from reaching Gretna Green and eloping. Unfortunately, she mistakenly stops the wrong coach and comes face to face with the man she’s dreamed about and yet tried to avoid for the past five years.

Similarly, Duke Lucien Vaughan has had trouble forgetting Daisy and the brief moment of passion they shared before he went off to war. They reluctantly (or maybe not-so-reluctantly) agree to journey on together to Scotland in what becomes a memorable road trip.

This book has a lot of the “classic” romance tropes, and I am here for it! I also liked how the book jumped right into the story and kept right on moving.

I’ve read the previous two books in this series, Her Majesty’s Rebels, and while I enjoyed the other books, this one is probably my favorite.

Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the advanced copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

“Road Trip with a Rogue” (Her Majesty's Rebels #3) by Kate Bateman
One Wild Road Trip !!
There was nary a dull moment in this story. Kate has a way of keeping me glued to a story. I did love this story except for the times a little more detail was shared than I cared to witness. The skipping over those scenes did shorten the story just a bit. But did not deter my enjoyment of the story. I do love a feisty heroine (and a steadfast hero, cannot be beat). Happy Reading ! !

In the third (and final?) book in the Herb Majesty's Rebels series, Kate Bateman once again delivers a satisfying historical romance. Road trip with a rogue follows Dairy (do not call her Dorothea) when her attempts at faux-highwayman-ing to stop a runaway elopement land on the wrong target. (Un)fortunately, the regrettable yet charming carriage owner Lucien is more than willing to help her complete her mission, unlike 5 years ago when his assistance on a very different type of mission proved to be disheartening.

With signature humour, romance, and angst, this novel delivers. Make this your summer (historical) romcom.

So fun! I would have finished it in one sitting if I didn’t have to work for a living. Very exciting story with a lot happening to keep you turning pages.

Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this story and this is my freely given opinion.

This story is about the last member of King and Co., so I presume this is the last book in the series. Daisy Hamilton, despite being the daughter of a peer, is determined to live independently and maker her own way, thus her success in King and Co. is of great import to her. In her determination to fulfill their latest contract by an irate father, she finds herself taking on the role of highwayman, with plans to waylay a carriage en route to Gretna, with the plan to disrupt an unwanted marriage over the anvil of two foolish young persons in love.

What she finds instead is that she is a bit too late as the carriage she is tracking is waylaid by real highwaymen... and it is the wrong carriage anyways, as instead of two young lovestruck ninnies, it holds her nemesis from the past, Lucien Vaughn, the Duke of Cranford. He is a notorious libertine, war hero, friend of her brothers, and the object of her youthful idolization and desires. At least until he broke her heart when he coldly rejected her 5 years ago.

But despite her disdain for the handsome rogue, Daisy finds herself forced to partner with him when he offers to help her on her quest to stop the runaways before they wed. What Daisy does not know is that Lucien is the uncle of one of the fools, and he is in full support of the pair running off to Gretna, and he secretly is planning on thwarting Daisy. Also, he has been secretly lusting after Daisy for years, and his rejection of her years ago was not because he desired her, but in the hopes of keeping the then sweet and innocent debutante from being exposed to the licentiousness that he and her brothers were engaged in before they left for war.

This is a fast paced road trip, forced proximity romance with humour and steam. Daisy and Lucien frequently butt heads as they fight each other, but also fight their growing attraction as they travel together. Things come to a head when they reach Gretna, just a bit too late to achieve Daisy's goal, but unfortunately just in time to be caught out by a notorious gossip, throwing Daisy's reputation at risk. Lucien steps up to save her by announcing their plan to marry. Daisy is conflicted because she sees her plans for the future and independence threatened to be lost, and has no desire to be married to a man who she thinks has no love for her and will continue his libertine ways.

Chaotic, fast paced, fun, steamy, and enjoyable story.

When I want to be entertained by a good book with independent women, hunky heroes, witty and fun banter, romance, spice, a good plot and drama, Kate Bateman's books check all the boxes!

Road Trip With a Rogue is the 3rd book in Her Majesty's Rebels series. This story is an "enemies to lovers" --- Daisy and Lucien have secretly been attracted to each other for 5 years , but denied their feelings. The first book in the series is The Second Duke's the Charm (Tess and Justin). Next is How to Fall for a Scoundrel (Ellie and Harry). You don't have to read these in order --but you would miss out on good stories and fun!
(Back story: Friends Tess, Ellie and Daisy establish King & Co., a secret investigative agency to help women who need to escape a situation. "Charles King" is the fake name for the "must have" male boss . The 3 women are "Her Majesty's Rebels".)

Daisy Hamilton is the feisty one of the Rebels. She is a master of disguises and an expert with knives. Her latest mission is to stop Violet and Percival from eloping to Gretna Greene. They have a head start in a carriage with the crest of a golden eagle. Daisy is dressed as a man so she can ride faster. Hiding in the night time woods as she waits for the carriage, 3 bandits appear. Using a pistol and her knives, she tries to stop them. In the scuffle, Daisy is injured. When she awakes, she discovers that it is Lucien Vaughan, Duke of Cranford's carriage! (This episode is told so much better in the book!)

Vaughan is not real happy to see Daisy, either. Ever since he kissed her 5 years ago, she has occupied his mind and he couldn't forget her. He has returned from war and they see each other in social places. Their eyes meet across rooms, but no contact with each other.
After much arguing and insults, Daisy convinces him to take her to Scotland. Lucien has his own reason to travel there -- a secret he keeps from Daisy! Emotions erupt--- is there a chance for them?

There is so much more happening with banter, romance, surprises and actions on the way to and from Gretna Greene. You will have to read the book to find out how it all turns out! I was g an ARC of this book by NetGalley for my honest opinion --- buy it!
I can't wait to read Kate's next series!

Road Trip With a Rogue is such a fun read! There is adventure, there is banter, there is steam, and Lucien and Daisy are an endearing couple. I loved their humor, their passion, their courage, and their naughtiness! I love that she is not afraid to not only know her own mind, but to also speak it, as well. And I love that he loves Daisy just as she is, not trying to stifle her or discourage her, but supporting and appreciating her. I received an advance reader copy of this book.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the arc, all opinions are my own.

There is just something fun and unique about a Kate Bateman historical romance and this one delivers on both. She has a knack for writing characters and circumstances that just feel different and fun. Daisy might be the daughter of a duke but she has a side business working as a private investigator. Daisy was a delight to read with her headstrong personality, her banter and the fact that she wasn't a virgin. I really do love a Kate Bateman FMC.

This book is great for anyone whose read one of her novels before or just wants a fun and unique historical romance.

Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for providing a DRC of this title for review.

Fun conclusion to this series with chemistry, action, and romance. Definitely picked up in the second half for me, but, all in all, this was a fun roadtrip romance that I think fans of Bateman’s or historical romance more broadly will definitely enjoy. My favorite of this series, and yet another reason it’s such a shame that publishers are not acquiring historicals at the moment— writers like Bateman really are such a gem!

I enjoyed reading, Road Trip With a Rogue. I was surprised that Daisy didn't figure out Lucien's motives earlier though. Daisy's ability to save herself when the going got tough was amazing.

This is a book you should read with a fan nearby, or some other means with which to keep it from incinerating right in your hands! The chemistry between Vaughan and Daisy, the two main characters in this book, is whoa-Nellie steaming! Happily, there's also an interesting plot, which I always enjoy. Daisy, the daughter of a duke, has unfashionably eschewed marriage and instead works for a private investigative agency. During her travails, she runs into Vaughan, her older brothers' friend and a duke himself, upon whom she had a crush years ago. Vaughan decides Daisy requires his protection to finish her assignment, so he joins her on her hunt for a young couple who have run off to elope. But when Vaughan realizes Daisy is no longer his friends' kid sister (whom he could barely leave alone five years ago as it was) but a gorgeous woman, he can't resist her, in spite of his friendship with her brothers (and in spite of her being a bit of a hoyden, in his opinion). Daisy is hardly a simpering miss, though, and keeps up with him toe to toe. Enjoy their wild ride together, I certainly did! This author is an automatic go-to read for me, and I was fortunate enough to get a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions above are my own.

Kate Bateman has done it again, with a delightful and satisfying addition to the Her Majesty’s Rebels series. I really enjoyed the previous two in the series, but I think this one was my favorite so far (and one of my favorite historical romances in quite a while!). Daisy and Lucien have great chemistry, and the road trip setting leads to lots of conversation and character development, while also allowing the plot to progress at a good pace. Daisy’s friendships with Tess and Ellie add so much to the story, and I’m really going to miss this series now that it’s presumably over. I can definitely see myself rereading it.

Great for fans of historical romance series centered on female friendships, like Lisa Kleypas’ Wallflowers or Evie Dunmore’s League of Extraordinary Women, or for fans of action-packed historical romances with quirky plots, like those by Julie Anne Long.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a fun and spicy Historical Romance with a knife wielding, pants wearing FMC and an MMC who will do anything for her.

There were some epically notable moments in this story, like when Daisy compares her “just one night” with Lucien to inoculations (Lucien being the disease of course). And the end-of road trip twist I did not see coming, but was absolute perfection.

I jumped into this one without having read the previous books in the series and overall that was fine, but I definitely missed a few things that were pertinent to Daisy's story overall. But overall this was a fun, road trip Regency romance!

I love Kate Bateman so much that I saved this and then I told myself to savor it but I blasted right through. I think this is my favorite book of the Her Majesty's Rebel series - I loved the road trip element of it, the spark and banter between Daisy and Lucien, and the sort of unusual second chance of it all. I'm a sucker for historical romances with a bit of an adventure, and Kate Bateman really always delivers. I'm assuming this series is over, since I think Daisy is the last of the King & Co. investigators, but I can't wait to see what's next.

This series by Kate Bateman has been a real favorite for me and the third installment is fabulous! I’ve loved Daisy with her knife skills in the previous books and she’s so wonderful in her own story. And Lucien is just perfect as a bad boy Duke. The adventure in the book keeps Daisy and Lucien in close proximity throughout the book so there’s lots of humor and witty dialogue. I appreciated that there was no real drama or angst when a deception was revealed. I feel other authors could have turned it into an issue to keep the MCs apart but the characters were so well developed that you could really see Daisy would be mad but knew her man well enough that it was exactly something he’d do. This was a thoroughly entertaining read.

Road Trip with a Rogue is the third book in Kate Bateman’s Her Majesty’s Rebels series, following a friend group of private investigators (the heroines of the other books in the series). Daisy is the pants-wearing, blade-wielder of the group and headed to Gretna Green for their latest case of stopping an 18-year old heiress from marriage. She ends up traveling with Lucien, a Duke who has his own reasons for following the couple who is eloping…

I had so much fun reading this one. I love Kate Bateman historicals and this was a fun one. All the road trip goodness and stopping at inns, sharing a room/bed/etc. The forced proximity was great and they have known one another for a while cause he’s friends with her brother and they had an almost moment years ago. This was good and fun. Not one of my all time favs by the author, but such a solid new historical romance release that I’d definitely recommend at the same time.

I received an ARC, all thoughts in this review are my own.

Review: 4 Stars
What a delightful Regency romance! This was my first Kate Bateman novel, but it certainly won’t be my last.
The story follows Daisy Hamilton, a spirited and determined heroine hired to thwart a runaway elopement. Along the way, she crosses paths with Lucien Vaughn—her former crush turned adversary—who just happens to be a family friend. Their shared history is rich with tension and unresolved feelings, and Bateman does a great job unveiling it with excellent pacing.
Though this is the third in a series, it works perfectly well as a standalone. Daisy is a true spitfire—fearless, clever, and completely focused on her mission. Vaughn is more of a complication than a help, and watching them navigate their old feelings and current frustrations was thoroughly entertaining.
Yes, a simple conversation might have resolved several of their issues, but then we’d have missed the fun of their push and pull. The miscommunication trope didn’t bother me here—it added to the drama and charm of their journey.
Highly enjoyable with strong characters and a satisfying romantic arc. I’m excited to check out the rest of the series!

“Road Trip With a Rogue” is such a fun and charming story! This is book 3 of Kate Bateman wonderful Series: Her Majesty’s Rebels.
Daisy Hamilton is on a mission : to stop a young lady’s elopement, bring her back to her father, and get paid. But instead of stopping the couples carriage, she accidentally stops the carriage of Lucien Vaughan, Duke of Cranford, her brother’s best friend and her former crush. Lucien doesn’t expect the knife-wielding, pants-wearing woman disguised as a lad would be his long-desired and best friend’s sister, Daisy.
Lucien agrees to accompany Daisy on her journey to Gretna Green and so the fun begins. A road trip romance with all the bumps and detours and the

Kate Bateman does a great job of bringing the story to life with great characters that are lovable and endearing. The chemistry between Daisy and Lucien is off the charts. Their banter is witty and hilarious. Their dynamic is top-notch : the spitfire heroine fiercely independent paired with the charming rogue who falls fast and hard.
KB has a smooth writing style, her storyline flows smoothly. The plot was fun and entertaining. She blends humor, adventure, and romance perfectly.
This book will pull you right in and keep you engaged and smiling all the way through. I was captivated by the road trip romance from start to end. I loved the forced proximity, the one bed tropes, the attraction, the tension, the feelings.
I enjoyed this story and it is one I would definitely recommend.

3.5 stars for me. I liked the main characters and their banter with each other, but as most of it took place on the road away from London, there was very little of Tess and Ellie. And it did get a bit frustrating when Daisy was obtuse with all of the not-so-subtle hints Lucien gave that he was in love with her. I like Kate Bateman's books in general, including this one.

This is an entertaining, fun read. Lucien and Daisy are a good match for each other. I enjoyed their banter and time together. The grand gesture is special and fitting for this couple. There is never a dull moment in this road trip adventure. I loved this series and am looking forward to Kate Bateman’s next series. The story is easy to read and get into.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
