I haven’t read anything by Kate Bateman, so I went into this fairly blind, with some awareness that she’s well known (so I assumed talented!)

This was very fun - I have some small critiques about the pacing at the end and the character development, but overall I was really engaged. I loved Daisy and Lucien, and I love how wild historical romance is (there are like three kidnappings in this!!! never boring!!)

Will definitely read more from this author!!

It's been a long time since I've read a true historical romance novel. I had a great time with this one! It was a romp and felt like a classic historical rom-com with lots of chaos and adventures.

Daisy is part of a trio who owns a crime solving business. She's the last unmarried one and has been sent on a job to stop an elopement. Along the way, she runs into the Duke of Cranford, Lucien, who is trying to make the elopement happen so he can foist his ridiculous nephew off on someone else. Daisy and Lucien have a past attraction, and as their present circumstances heat up so does their chemistry.

This was just fun. It wasn't too serious and really reminded me of the classic historical romances that I used to read by Julia Quinn, Lisa Kleypas, Tessa Dare, and Sarah MacLean. I think historicals often try to be too progressive for the times in which they are set, but this one balanced that line of society expectations and scandal really well. Daisy and Lucien had an uncomplicated history together that added to their story and made it feel less insta-love. They both were headstrong but I loved how quickly he was gone for her. Overall, this was just a fun tale, and I will check out more from Kate Bateman in the future.

Omg I loved this so much I read it in one evening.

This is the third in a series about 3 friends (a duchess, a duke’s daughter, and the Chief Justice’s daughter) who are independent minded women of the regency era and who have made an investigative agency. I love a friend series. I’m going to be honest. I remember everything about every book I read and I cannot remember for the life of me the first book in this series, oops. The second was fun, a bit insta love, but I love a charming roguish thief. This blew all the other books in the series out of the water. A rakish Duke! A woman who has pined for him since her teens! A road trip in a carriage to gretna green to stop someone from getting married! ONLY ONE ROOM AT THE INN!

I loved the spice (the spice was spicing). I loved the banter. I loved Lucien the Duke so so much. I loved that the heroine was not a virgin and wasn’t at all ashamed about it. I loved that when she told the duke he was like ok cool. I truly could not put this down.

A fun and spicy read. I was hooked from the first chapter and didn't want to put it down. The characters Daisy & Lucien were just perfect! This book did not disappoint. It's one of those banter, forced proximity ones that I absolutely love.

I love romances where the tension is thick with unspoken history, where every glance feels like it’s trying to say what words won’t. The writing here captures that kind of emotional intensity so naturally. It’s clever and quick, but it also lingers in the vulnerable spaces. You can feel the push and pull in every scene. The quiet moments felt just as powerful as the fiery ones, and that balance is rare. I adored Daisy’s sharpness and heart, and I loved how Lucien let his armor slip piece by piece. Though, what made me fall so hard for this book was the tenderness underneath all that heat. It made me ache in the best way.

This is my favorite series!!!! I absolutely adored this book! It had great banter and the forced proximity was the chef kiss ! I loved Daisy fiery spirt and Lucien met her every step of the way! Check it out!

3.5 rounded to 4 stars. I am really struggling with reviewing this one.

Let me start by saying that I love Kate Bateman. She’s one of the best romance writers out there, and I don’t understand for the life of me why her publisher has dropped her. It infuriates me, frankly. I think that is part of the reason why I hate to say this wasn’t one of my favorites of hers.

For me, the whole problem was that I hated the hero for the first 60% of the book. I absolutely despised this character—he was arrogant, insufferable, high-handed, and undermined the heroine at every turn. He jeopardized her livelihood, which infuriated me because that would hurt not only her, but the heroines of the previous two books. This book is clearly doing enemies-to-lovers, but it hit the enemies part of the trope too hard for me.

The reason why this isn’t a two-star review (which I was seriously afraid I was going to have to do) is because at the 60% mark, there was an event (trying not to spoil) that revealed some things about the hero’s character and feelings. From that point, the book was far more enjoyable and engrossing. I started rooting for the couple, though there were still some frustrating moments. I will say the payoff was VERY well done. I’m glad I stuck with the book, even though I wanted to strangle the hero for most of the book!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ great conclusion to the series. Daisy and Lucian’s chemistry and banter were fabulous. I always enjoy when there is some tension brewing and then it combusts. Kate Bateman’s novels always deliver in that regard. It was great seeing the other couples as well.

I wasn’t crazy about Lucien deceiving her the first portion of the book and Daisy’s inner monologue dragged the book down a bit. But overall, a great read!

In the third and final book in the Her Majesty's Rebels series, you follow Daisy and Lucien as they make their way to Scottland to stop a wedding from happening. Daisy was hired to stop the elopement at the behest of the bride's father, but little does Daisy know, Lucien wants the wedding to go through, as the groom is his nephew who he wants out of his house. Lucien wants to slow Daisy down so she would be too late, and he is willing to pull out all the stops.
I had a fun time reading this book! I really liked the banter between the two MCs. They seemed to compliment each other's personalities. I wanted to thump Daisy upside the head sometimes! How could she not see how in love Lucien was with her. She could be frustrating, but I overall loved the book. I definitely recommend this series. I need to go back and read book 1.

This is a solid 4, and a great entry in the series. The ending is a little abrupt, and it really does help to have read the other two books in the series for the backstory, but the adventure is fun and we always like a hero whose decent feminist politics are never in question.

Love, love, loved this book! It's the perfect blend of funny and serious, pining, and daring. Daisy and Lucien spark from the first chapter. The banter is incredible and the plotline is just outrageous enough to be funny but not so much as to be ridiculous. The longing on both their parts ... swoon! Loved the cameos from the main characters of the previous two books, all of the side charcters were great, and the conclusion was just perfect. I don't want to give away any details because this book really was a delight to uncover page by page.

I always appreciate a good historical romance as a palate cleanser of sorts between other reads, and Road Trip with a Rogue did not disappoint.

I really enjoyed Daisy and Lucien's story. A little bit second chance and brothers' friend/friends' sister. A little bit enemies to lovers and forced proximity. A lot of banter and chemistry.

It was fun to see the previous characters again as well, and I'm already looking forward to Kate Bateman's next historical romance.

Quick read but thoroughly enjoyable.. A woman making up her own mind , not just getting married for the sake of marriage…. Especially for the times it was set in.

This book has single handedly catapulted me into my regency romance era.

This was such a fun read with two very different yet likeable characters. I loved the enemies to lovers trope here and their whitty banter throughout their journey. Lucien Vaughn, Duke of Cranford, is a swoon-worthy bad boy who any woman would be lucky to have and Daisy Hamilton couldn’t despise him more. I loved that Lucien was clearly thrown by Daisy’s vehement hatred of him and how he continued to needle her relentlessly. The banter between the two was so fun and made their passion even more intense.

While their mutual annoyance with each other was present, there were so many scenes where Lucien showed how much he cared for Daisy more than just desiring her physically. I loved the steamy romance and the ending was the perfect hint of sweetness in their relationship.

Fun characters and decent writing. A good addition to the series though I felt like Lucien fell more quickly than I expected him to and he didn’t chase her enough.

Road trip stories are so much fun, which is what this book was. I would have loved it even more if Daisy had managed to get more over Lucien, but in the end, a growly, super protective guy is also romantic. Daisy was so spunky, it was the perfect counterpoint to Lucien's calm and austere demeanor. Their conversations together built a fabulous love story. I liked that this story seemed to solely focus on the two of them, without extra unnecessary characters, but I enjoyed seeing Tess and Ellie towards the end. This was a well-paced story, which is to be expected when much of it is on the road, and I devoured it to get to the end. This was a fun romp of a book, and I highly recommend. Though this was my first foray into the "Her Majesty’s Rebels"series, I was confident that it would be an enjoyable read based off of past readings of Kate Bateman's books. Thankfully, I was correct, in fact the characters and plot exceeded my expectations!

Both Daisy and Lucien were likeable leads, and their chemistry was both amusing and steamy.

I appreciated that Daisy, while both tough and independent, allowed Lucien to play white night to her damsel in distress a few times. Likewise, Lucien showed his venerablity to Daisy, and never truly sought to stop her from doing her work for King & Co.

If you are like me, and jump into the series at a later book, no worries, you won't be lost. Though Daisy's friends/coworkers and their respective beaus make an appearance, their presence in the book is fairly minor.

I will say, I do plan to read the other two books in the series now, and hope that they are as good as read as this. I can't wait to see what Bateman comes up with next!
