My thoughts:
I love Kate Bateman’s writing style. She has a way of writing a story that draws me in and won’t let me go. There is never a dull moment reading one of her regency books!
Road Trip with a Rogue had me laughing and laughing. Then, the swoon aspect would kick in.
I loved the main characters, Daisy and Lucien. The chemistry(or, should I say tension?)between them is perfect….the banter is on point….the steamy moments are hot.

Enemies to lovers
Road trip romance
Only one bed
Forced proximity
Second chance
Witty banter
Steamy chemistry/tension

If you are a fan of a historical romance with all the above in it, this is the book you need to pick up.

Thank you for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

This was just plain good fun!

Daisy and Lucien have had the hots for each other for years and finally, finally bump into each other on a highway and for reasons end up sharing a carriage all the way to Gretna Green.

This is very much forced proximity, and I enjoyed their ‘get to know you’ conversations on their trip.

Daisy is experienced, independent and mature and I loved that for her! Lucien is entranced, of course!

This is the third in the series but can definitely be read as a stand alone (as I did). Though I may now need to go back to read the others in the series.

I really enjoyed this one! The characters were easy to love and connect with as well as root for! The romance was well done and the character worked well together! I really enjoyed the story itself and found myself hooked from the first page! This was a fun read that I definitely recommend checking out!

I always enjoy a good story of the Ton. Scandals and love. This book was a fun read. I enjoyed the banter of the main characters as well as the storyline and the plot twists. The main female character was one of my favorites because of her strong personality as well as the mmc sitting back and letting her take the weed but also wanting to remain chivalrous and following his morals.
Thank you NetGalley and the Author for the ARC!

Kate Bateman is the absolute best! Literally one of the few historical romance writers I will not miss any of their books!

I didn't read the 1st 2 stories in this series and while I did feel as if I was missing some background information early on, that feeling didn't last long/impair my overall enjoyment of the story. Daisy and Lucien have some history which has left Daisy with less than fond feelings toward him. However, when circumstance results in them being stuck together for a few days, tension of a different sort hangs in the air between them. There is a modernized slant to the story with Daisy being an independent and free spirited heroine, an atypical lady of the period (she regularly has at least one knife on her and spends half the book or more disguised in britches & coat, but often seems to forget she's is trying to stay unnoticed to avoid being recognized and risking too much scandal). I enjoyed the back and forth between the two as well as the characters themselves. as a result I didn't mind the occasional bit of silly or slightly forced plot twist meant to keep them together and the story moving along and the ending made it worth it - as their HEA point was perfectly suited them and brought the story to delightful and satisfying end.

4.5/5 - This book sucked me in from the start, and I think this largely had to do with Daisy and Lucien as characters. Their dynamic is hot and banter-y from the start and they continue to butt heads even after they follow through on their attraction. While that alone made this book a good time, their depths and connection really made this stick. The stakes feel the right kind of high here: the first half of the novel is just a fun road trip to Gretna that turns into an angst-filled and slightly-dangerous time. Our leads face a wonderful blend of ridiculously bad luck mixed with some ill-timed and ill-equipped villains.

While I often times wanted to shake Daisy for her stubbornness, I truly loved how this story played out. Those last few chapters could have been boring, but the author kept me invested until the last page wanting to see our leads get their HEA. And honestly, Lucien knocked it out of the park at every corner. He's such a solid hero and definitely going down as swoony book boyfriend for many. He continued to show up for Daisy in the exact way she needed him, and his willingness to adjust (while not totally bend) was great. She wouldn't have wanted a total push-over and he was the perfect match for her rebellious tendencies.

Would highly recommend for those that enjoy a road trip romance, burning tension that's been sizzling for years, and a loving supportive girl group. I enjoyed how this series centered around these three best friends, both fighting crime how they're able, and also finding love in the process. I always enjoy women-centered historicals that feature this type of friendship. So often, an FMC can be isolated and lonely with crappy parents and conniving friends. So it's always a relief when there's actually a support system behind our girl. This is a super solid HR and great Kate Bateman book!

Kate Bateman saved the best for last in Her Majesty's Rebels series with the love story between Daisy & Lucien. A Road Trip With a Rogue is a high-spirited story of a second chance/brother's friend romance filled with chemistry and packed with action to keep you drawn in from the first page to the last.

Daisy's on the King's Road to Gretna Green in an attempt to stop her client's heiress daughter from marrying a young man who has a good lineage but no prospects. She encounters what she believes to be the couple's carriage, but is shocked to instead see Lucien who broke her heart five years ago. The fiery banter between them is quite entertaining. Lucien convinces Daisy that they travel together, though he has his own reasons for his nephew's elopement to be successful. He's going to keep that to himself of course.

This sets the stage for an absolutely rollicking good time as Daisy & Lucien race to Gretna Green, always a few steps behind the eloping couple. The forced proximity was the perfect opportunity for their relationship to grow. The attraction was already there in spades, but it was delightful to see them grow closer and fall deeply for each other. Daisy's skittish about opening her heart to love again, so Lucien, who's not big on talking about feelings, is going to have to spare no effort to show her that he loves her.

Road Trip With a Rogue is a well written book that I really enjoyed. I liked it so much that I'm going to search for more books by Kate Bateman. Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC. This is my honest opinion of the book.

I have really liked this series and this one was no exception. I loved the banter between Lucien and Daisy and that had both pined for awhile. The highway adventure made for a fun story and I liked how it all came together in the end. Daisy was a great strong FMC and I loved how feisty she was. Lucien is the perfect guy for her. Another great Kate Bateman book.

Thank you to Netgalley and the author for this ARC.

Kate Bateman writes banter so well! I've yet to read the first in this series, but I've read the second and now third and really enjoyed them! The plot is rather wimpy, but who cares. The purpose is to throw these two together and watch the sparks fly. Daisy is strong, opinionated, stubborn and obsolete perfect for Lucian. They both carried secret touches for each other, never trusting that the other would choose them and love them. It was great watching them fall.

This was absolute perfection.

I've enjoyed this series from the start, but this one is the best one of the three. And yes, I do realize that I said the same about book 2.

I love love loved Daisy and Lucien. They're both smart and sarcastic and loyal. The two of them have chemistry for days and the flirting is disguised as animosity. I loved reading them banter about, while he threatens marriage and she threatens stabbing. Of course it was fun seeing the previous couples and how the ladies love champion each other.

Plot wise, it was a damn delight. There's only one carriage, one room, one horse, one bath. They were together for most of the story and while the banter was exceptional, the way that they listened to each other and had honesty was one of the best parts. Of course, I could have read 100 more pages, but the last few chapters nearly had me kicking my feet in the air.

Overall, I think it's pretty clear that I loved this book with a sickness. I can't wait to binge this series.

4.5 stars, rounded up

Imagine a Regency spy caper and a second-chance-infatuation story hopped in a carriage and took the scenic route to Scotland—with only one bed, one horse, and so much unresolved tension.

Daisy Hamilton is on a mission. Unfortunately, it goes sideways when she accidentally holds up the carriage of Lucien Vaughan—a cynical, smoldering duke and the man who shattered her heart five years ago. Cue the forced proximity road trip straight through their unresolved feelings and into glorious, banter-laced chaos.

What makes this shine is the slow-burn of old crushes reigniting, with both of them pretending they’re definitely not still into each other while simultaneously sharing horses, beds, and bathwater. Daisy tries to “inoculate” herself with a quick fling—surprise, it backfires. Lucien may act like a rogue, but he melts anytime Daisy’s in danger (or just in the room).

This one’s sexy, smart, and irresistibly fun. Daisy’s spy skills and Lucien’s broody devotion are a perfect match. It’s more of a second-chance craving than romance—but whatever it is, it works.

I recommend reading book one to understand the characters and the King and Co. investigative business.

Kate Bateman is one of my go-to authors for a solid historical romance. I know when I open one of her books I’ll be taken care of, and this was no exception. Thank you to St. Martin’s and NetGalley for the ARC.

Lady Dorothea Hamilton, who prefers to be called Daisy, is on a mission to stop an elopement. Along with her two closest friends, she runs the private detective agency King & Co., known throughout the ton for its professionalism and impressive success rate. Daisy believes she’s intercepted the runaway couple on their way to Scotland just as their carriage is attacked by highwaymen. She charges in to protect the young woman she's been hired to save only to discover that the passengers are not her targets at all, but rather Lucien Vaughan, Duke of Cranford. A war hero and her brothers’ close friend, Lucien is also the man who kissed her senseless five years ago and has been a thorn in her side ever since. Now he’s offering to accompany her to Scotland in search of the actual couple. His carriage is far more comfortable than a saddle, and he has the means to help, so despite her instincts, Daisy agrees. And just like that, they’re traveling—alone, across the country.

I’ve really enjoyed the first two books in this series, and Daisy has always stood out as the boldest of Her Majesty’s Rebels. She’s daring, flamboyant in her disguises, and thrives on risk. But in this installment, we get a deeper look at the person behind the drama. Daisy is the daughter of an affair between her mother and an Italian man. Though her mother’s husband, a duke, acknowledged her, Daisy was raised in luxury but largely neglected. This upbringing shaped her belief that she would only ever marry for true love. She’s seen what a loveless marriage looks like and refuses to follow that path.

Lucien was, frankly, insufferable for much of the book—and I loved it. He’s the classic domineering duke: convinced he knows best, slow to share information, and unaware of how his actions impact others. He’s also a Napoleonic War hero, a trope I’m always drawn to. There’s just something irresistible about a scarred, battle-hardened man trying to figure out his feelings. While both characters feel the pull between them, Lucien is the one who fully recognizes and leans into it first. If you love a hero who is emotionally all-in, this is your book.

Road trip romances rely heavily on pacing, and this one gets it right. There’s plenty of movement, emotionally and physically, and the romantic tension is well timed. The story smartly weaves in Daisy and Lucien’s shared history to enrich the journey. My only issue is that the final 15% of the book loses some momentum. While there are key character moments, the shift in pace is noticeable compared to the rhythm that came before.

Kate Bateman remains one of the most consistent authors in historical romance. Every one of her books I’ve read lands solidly in the 4 to 5 star range. This one is no different—4.5 stars.

This is the third book in the series, and features Daisy Hamilton and Lucian Vaughn.
Daisy is on an assignment to stop the marriage of a young heiress. When she pulls over the wrong carriage. Lucian, who broke Daisy's heart 5 years ago, and is one of the most eligible bachelors happens to be in the carriage.
Lucian's nephew is the male eloping with the heiress, and he is dead set on the marriage happening.
This is a wonderfully, well written story with humor, witty banter, steam, a fun road trip, action and fun secondary characters.
Daisy is a fun character who knows what she wants and isn't afraid to take it.

A great love story that almost didn’t happen. At best, Lucien and Daisy tolerate each other but later they find their way to each other. It’s a great story that kept me wondering what was going to happen next. The banter between the two of them is hilarious. It’s well written, entertaining and definitely worth reading.

I've been anticipating Daisy's book since the start of this series. And it didn't disappoint!

Thank you to St. Martin's Press for the free ARC via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own and given freely.

Road Trip with a Rogue was such a fun finale to this series. Daisy is doing a PI job, when she finds her case suddenly derailed. With the hope of getting back on track, she embarks on a road trip with the Duke of Cranford. Who also just happens to be the man who broke her heart years ago.

This was delightful to read. I adored Daisy, and her bold personality. But I also adored Lucien and the charm, swoon and care he brought to the story. They bring plenty of chemistry and verbal sparring to keep you turning the pages. And it heats up nicely. They drove me a little batty with the miscommunication... but in the end, I loved them just as much individually as I did together. Their story made me smile. I also really love how the author wrote the migraine rep, and in turn how he cared for her through this. It was perfect.

I don't read historical much anymore, but then I do, it's this author's. She never misses.

4.5 stars rounded up. This was such a joy to read from start to finish. The tension between Daisy and Vaughn was palpable from the beginning, and their snarky banter made their road trip adventures even more entertaining. Thankfully we get the relevant flashbacks early on showing Daisy's history with Vaughn, who is her brothers' close friend and a notorious rake. The two shared a heated moment before he went off to war years back, but Daisy always assumed that Vaughn had no interest in her rather than him realizing that starting something with his best friends' younger sister before leaving to fight was an impossible situation. There is plenty of action throughout the story as Daisy and Vaughn race to find an eloping couple (though each of them has different reasons for tracking them) and fight their simmering attraction to each other along the way. We also get several cameos from the other couples in this series, and thankfully the series is wrapped up in a satisfying manner.

I'm sad that Kate Bateman's new works won't be picked up by the publisher, but I will absolutely keep reading in whatever format she chooses to keep writing in!

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and Netgalley for providing an ARC for review!

I really enjoyed the first 2 books in this series, but I think this one is my favorite. Most times in historical romances the MMC is described as a rogue or a rake but never truly live up to that title for me. However, this author finally gave me a true rogue but still made him extremely likable. Lucien is everything I could want from a hero in a romance book. I also really loved Daisy’s character and found them to be a great match. I do think towards the end Daisy’s stubbornness went on a tiny bit too long. Other than that, I think this is a solid romance with an interesting plot, wonderful characters, and a great wrap up to this series!

I love how a lot of romances are forcing our femc and mmc to spend time together in forced proximity and then the heat grows from there.. It's always been a loved trope of mine, and that's how we start out!

Daisy Hamilton's latest job for King & Co. has her holding up a coach to stop a pair of young lovers from eloping to Gretna Green. Unfortunately, she mistakenly comes upon the coach of Lucien Vaughan, Duke of Cranford which is being held up by three highwaymen.

She steps in and then learns of her mistake. The passenger in the coach is Lucien Vaughan, not the young lovers. Vaughan is the man she has always yearned for. He's a friend of her brothers, but he's also a man determined to follow his own rakish path. Unbeknownst to her, he has been secretly trailing the young lovers, one of whom his nephew, to make sure they make it successfully to Gretna Green.

The two team up to chase down the young lovers with Vaughan putting roadblocks up to delay her. Their forced proximity also brings on the heat. The two begin an affair or at least a sexual liaison. Daisy is looking for a man who loves her for a husband and she is sure Vaughan doesn't qualify; Vaughan is not really looking for anything, but Daisy whom he has secretly loved for years is a possible complication for his planned life.

This was an engaging historical romance which is also the final book in a trilogy. I loved the characters and the setting.
