If you're in the mood for a small-town mystery with heat (literally and figuratively), Fleet Landing by Wendy Gee makes for a fun, fast-paced debut.
The story centers around Coop, an arson investigator with the ATF, and Sydney, a tenacious reporter with a knack for uncovering the truth. When a series of suspicious fires begin tearing through the quiet coastal town of Fleet Landing, these two unlikely partners are thrown together to figure out who's behind it—and why. t works really well in Fleet Landing is the chemistry. Coop is all grit and duty, while Sydney brings heart, wit, and a little bit of stubborn charm. Their dynamic feels natural, with just enough tension to keep things interesting without turning into cliché.

Wendy Gee’s writing is sharp and approachable. She balances action with emotional beats nicely. The mystery holds up, and though the story doesn’t try to reinvent the genre, it delivers exactly what it promises: suspense and a satisfying sense of place. As a debut Novel by Wendy I enjoyed this story and am interested to see if she will make this into a series.

In the book, ATF Special Agent Cooper “Coop” Bellamy's rigid adherence to rules has left his relationship with his 11-year-old daughter in ashes. When Charleston's fire chief calls him to investigate a series of mysterious nuisance fires ravaging the city, Coop sees a chance to redeem himself as a father and catch a dangerous arsonist. But as the fires turn deadly, he finds himself torn between family and duty! Great read! Very interesting storyline! This book had great suspense, murder, mystery, arsonist, intriguing, action, and a few wild twists! I highly recommend reading this book! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
