I really enjoyed reading this graphic novel. It legitimately made me laugh out loud. Beautiful artwork with a funny yet mysterious storyline. The dry humor was to die for!

an incredibly silly and incredibly fun take on a vampire story. The story was cute, the jokes were very pun-derful, and I know kids are going to love Dracula's love of donuts!

Dracula’s Brunch Club is an incredibly charming, funny graphic novel about how vampires first discovered that they enjoyed the taste of blood. The concept is super creative, and the storyline is more detailed than I anticipated. I would have never thought to pair donuts and vampires! The art style is fun, funky, and nostalgic, and I really liked the color scheme. Each character is full of life, with designs that pop off the page and comical facial expressions. I especially enjoyed Elena and Orlock!

I read this in one sitting, and it was perfect for Summerween! I’d especially recommend this to middle school readers, but I think this could be enjoyed by a variety of ages. Also, while I think it would be a fun Halloween or October read, the spooky elements aren’t so strong that it would feel out of place any other time of year. I give this 4/5 stars!

Thank you to NetGalley, Brian Gonsar, Keenan Gaybba, and Oni Press for the arc copy of the book in exchange for my review!

I’d say Dracula’s Brunch Club is more of a 3.5 than a solid 4 stars. Overall, I really enjoyed it: it’s a sweet, funny, and cozy graphic novel that feels perfect for early fall. I’d recommend picking it up around late September or early October, sipping your first pumpkin spice drink, maybe with a box of donuts on the side. That’s the vibe this book gives: a soft, warm, whimsical little sweet time.

The story itself is quirky and fun: Count Dracula has built a name for himself selling the most famous blood orange jelly donuts. But when the blood orange supply runs out, he’s forced to get creative and eventually stumbles into the idea that, surprise!, actual blood might be just what the vampires need to feel their best. It’s playful, a bit absurd, and has some beautiful moments about friendship.

The main reason I didn’t rate it higher is the pacing. I found myself struggling to stay engaged, especially in the middle section. I started it weeks ago, kept putting it down, and picked up and finished other books in between. That usually says a lot to me about how a story is flowing. It was a bit too long, and the middle dragged more than I’d have liked.

But! The art? A full 5 stars. Absolutely adorable and perfect for the cozy vibe of the story.

In short: cute, cozy, funny, and a great pick for autumn. I liked it a lot, even if it didn’t totally hook me the whole way through.

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Criticisms/Comments: I felt as though something was lacking from this story, though this could be down to it being a middle grade graphic novel and me being an adult. I appreciated the inclusion of diverse side characters. - 3 stars

Average Rating: 4 stars

Not sure who the audience is for that one.
The tone is odd, childish but kind of too boring for the teen audience I thought it might be aimed at?
Maybe it's for the fans of cosy reads, it does feel like it's having a tongue-in-cheek go at the cosy fantasy trend. It takes on the romance, the food refs, the small village setting and knots it into a cute vamp story reminiscent of Hotel Transylvania cartoon episodes I've seen with my kids.

I loved the graphics in this! I would definitely recommend this to those in the target audience, however I also enjoyed it a lot as an adult.

It was humorous, cute and there were so many donuts. I am now hungry.

Thank you for the ARC!

This was cute and fun, I wouldn’t say it was an all time favorite but I would recommend this to younger audiences and people who want a cute fun graphic novel to pick up in between novel.

I really enjoyed Dracula's Brunch Club. It was a cute graphic novel that seems perfect for middle school aged children. I enjoyed how instead of blood the vampires were obsessed with blood orange jelly. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants a light hearted vampire graphic novel.

When one of the Jonas brothers gave the introduction for this book, I was intrigued. The story was entertaining, unique, and lighthearted. The dialogue between the characters was very funny. I really liked it a lot all around. The only issue I had was the missing background info. It felt at times like it could’ve been volume 2 in the comic. But that didn’t keep me from really enjoying this! I recommend for comic lovers 9+.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC!

This graphic novel is such a fun read with a great Art-Style that has a nostalgic feeling to it. Who did know, that Vampires love Donuts as much as humans. I also loved that the aspect of blood donation is mentioned in the novel, its such an important topic that doesn't have much reputation in books.

Really liked this one! The art style is quirky and clever and reminded me of Gravity Falls. The plot was funny and had the right amount of mystery. I'm currently reading Dracula for the first time so it was extra fun to read this spin on vampires and the character. The perfect Summerween read!

What a fun graphic novel! DRACULA'S BRUNCH CLUB imagines a world where vampires get their energy from jelly donuts...but when Dracula's jelly goes missing, and another vampire swoops in to take his place, how is he going to keep the peace between vampires and humans? This was super fun and will appeal to kids and adults alike. I also loved the illustration style. And now I'm craving a jelly donut!

Did vampires ever give you night terrors? This book will make you laugh instead of scream. Count Dracula returns to Transylvania to discover that all the blood-oranges have mysteriously disappeared. These are the same oranges used in his special doughnuts that are served at his brunch meetings where humans and vampires attend. Read the book to discover what happened! A great story for upper elementary and middle school students.

This is a graphic novel aimed at the middle grade reader that combines cute and scary to good effect. The humour is a little groan worthy at times and didn't always land well for me but I can see you young readers will enjoy it. While the story is cute the real highlight for me was the illustrations, the expressive, almost animated style and judiciously chosen colour palette really worked well to draw me into the story.
I read an ARC courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher, all opinions are my own.

Dracula’s delicious jelly donuts have made him a name in Transylvania, but after he leaves for a culinary world tour, he comes back to find things aren’t what they used to be. Humans and vampires were on good terms when he was in charge, and humans were always allowed at Dracula’s brunch club, but the new vampire in town, Constantine, has other plans. But how can Dracula gain the loyalty of his brunch club back if all the jelly in Transylvania is gone and there is no way to make donuts? Where did the jelly go? And what new ingredient will he find to make his famous donuts?

This graphic novel’s premise and illustrations had me hooked and excited to read, but I found that the humor and plot fell short. The ending was a little too predictable, but for the age group it targets, it may be a nice quick read. I was disappointed in this one, though I think some kids who like horror may enjoy it. The message about getting along and acceptance is delivered with a lackluster ending. Great artwork, very spooky.

This was a fun and quick read - I really enjoyed it! The art made it so fun and I could see it being an actual TV show on TV. The storyline was interesting to me, even as a 30 year old. The bonus content at the end was cool too - appreciate the donut recipe and behind-the-scenes info.

I was so excited to read this as I love almost everything Oni Press puts out. The art resembles that of Total Drama Island or something you would see on cartoon network which was really fun to see in a graphic novel. Outside of the fun art and the interesting back matter, this graphic novel didnt really land for me. There were humorous parts but the story dids't work for me like I thought it would. That being said, I do think kids would get a kick out of it. Oblivious vampires that are obsessed with donuts are a perfect recipe for a fun book and this book is admittedly a fun read. I will pass it along to kids who ask for something dark and humorous.

A fun read but very much middle grade. If you’re wanting a goofy Dracula story about putting the Blood into Blood Orange Doughnuts then this is the graphic novel for you.

Also has actual recipes at the end which I cannot wait to try!!

Very much in the same vein (pun intended) as Gravity Falls.
